The Shangdan suture zone (SSZ) is the main collisional boundary between the North China Craton and the South China Craton, along which discontinuous Paleozoic ophiolites and subduction–accretion related volcanic arc assemblages occur. Here we report the petrology, geochemistry, geochronology and phase equilibria modeling of garnet amphibolite from the Songshugou ophiolite which is one of the largest ophiolite outcrops in the northern side of the SSZ. From petrological studies, we identify: (1) prograde stage, defined by garnet + clinopyroxene + calcic amphibole + ilmenite + rutile + epidote + plagioclase + quartz; (2) peak stage with garnet + clinopyroxene + ilmenite + rutile + quartz; and (3) retrograde stage with amphibole + plagioclase + titanite + ilmenite. Our pseudosection analysis defines stability of the peak assemblage at 750–850 °C, 15–19 kbar and traces a clockwise P–T path in the system Na2O–CaO–FeO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–H2O–TiO2–Fe2O3 (NCFMASHTO), suggesting high pressure (HP) metamorphism. Subsequently, the rocks experienced rapid decompression and cooling. LA-ICP-MS U-Pb analyses of zircons from the garnet amphibolite yield a weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 515 ± 12 Ma. This Early Paleozoic metamorphic age represents the emplacement time of the Songshugou ophiolite, and suggests that the HP metamorphism is possibly related to the northward deep subduction of the Shangdan oceanic crust in Early Paleozoic.  相似文献

Medium to coarse-grained Neo-Proterozoic Nagthat siliciclastic rocks form a part of the Krol Formation in the Lesser Himalayan geotectonic zone. Fluid inclusion and geochemical studies have been carried out on the Nagthat siliciclastics from the Tons valley to determine their provenance during the Proterozoic and their recrystallisation during maximum burial to uplift. Fluid inclusion studies have been carried out on detrital, recrystallised quartz grains and quartz overgrowths. Major and trace element analyses of the siliciclastics, the relationships of SiO2 with various trace elements, and the association of various trace elements with mineral species suggest a granitic source for these siliciclastics. Primary Q1 aqueous brine inclusions and Q3 H2O–CO2 fluid with 0.9 gm/cm3 CO2 density in detrital quartz grains characterised the protolith of the sandstone as granite or metamorphic rocks. H2O–NaCl fluids participated in the cementation history, temperatures of quartz overgrowth from 198 to 232 °C show the effect of maximum burial. The re-equilibration of the primary fluid due to elevated internal pressure > confining pressure is evident from features like ‘C’ shaped cavities, stretching of the inclusions, their migration, decrepitation clusters, etc. During recrystallisation these inclusions were equilibrated at 187 ° and 235 °C in a restricted fluid of aqueous, moderately saline composition. The observed inclusion morphology is attributed to a decrease in external pressure related to isothermal decompression uplift.  相似文献

The Inner Mongolia Highland (IMH), along the northern edge of the North China Craton, was considered to be a long-standing topographic highland, whose exhumation history remains elusive. The aim of this study is to reveal Late Paleozoic exhumation processes of the IMH based on an integrated analysis of stratigraphy, petrography of clastic rocks, and U–Pb ages and Hf isotopes of detrital zircons from Permian–Triassic succession in the middle Yanshan belt. The results of the study show that the Benxi Formation, which was originally regarded as a Late Carboniferous unit, proves to be Early Permian in age because it contains detrital zircons as young as ∼298 Ma. The Lower Shihezi Formation is demonstrated to be a unit whose age spans the boundary of the Middle and Upper Permian, constrained by a U–Pb age of 260 ± 2 Ma from a dacite layer. Clastic compositions of conglomerate and sandstone change markedly, characterised by the predominance of sedimentary components in the Benxi–Shanxi Formations, by large amounts of volcanic clastics in the Lower and Upper Shihezi Formations, and by the presence of both metamorphic and igneous clastics in the Sunjiagou–Ermaying Formations. Sedimentary clastics include chert, carbonate, sandstone and quartzite, which may have been derived from Proterozoic to Lower Paleozoic sedimentary covers. Volcanic clasts were directly related to volcanic eruptions, while granite and gneiss grains were sourced from exhumed Late Paleozoic intrusive rocks and basement rocks. Detrital zircon U–Pb ages can be divided into five populations: 2.6–2.4 Ga, 1.9–1.7 Ga, 400–360 Ma, 325–290 Ma and 270–250 Ma. Precambrian detrital zircons are typically subrounded to rounded in shape, implying a recycling origin. Late Paleozoic zircons show oscillatory zones and their Th/U ratios >0.4, suggesting a magmatic origin. Most Phanerozoic zircons have negative εHf(T) values of −3.2 to −25.5, which are compatible with those of Late Paleozoic plutons in the IMH. The results indicate that the IMH may have been covered with Proterozoic to Lower Paleozoic sedimentary strata, which then underwent subsequent erosion and served as provenances for adjacent Late Paleozoic basins. Vertical changes in both clastic compositions and detrital zircon ages in Permian–Triassic strata imply an unroofing process of the IMH. Three phases of the IMH uplift are distinguished. The first-phase uplift commenced 325–312 Ma and resulted from magmatic intrusion related to southward subduction of the Paleo-Asian Ocean. The second-phase uplift took place in the Middle Permian and may be attributed to crustal contraction related to the collision of the North China Craton and the Southern Mongolia terrane. The third-phase uplift happened at the end of the Permian, and may have been induced by upwelling of calc-alkali magma under an extensional setting.  相似文献

The tight sandstone gas in Upper Paleozoic Formation of the northern Ordos Basin is a typical giant unconventional tight gas province. Evidences from geochemistry, reservoir geology and paleo-tectonic setting all verify that the present-day tight sandstone gas accumulation in the Ordos Basin is the result of near-source accumulation. The evidences are listed as following: tight sandstone gas is mainly distributed in the area with high gas-generating strength; gas composition was not subjected to fractionation; gas saturation significantly decreases with the distance away from the source rocks; gas isotopes suggest their origin is the same and maturity is consistent with in-place source rocks; reservoirs have experienced three types of densification digenesis, including intense compaction, siliceous cementation and calcareous cementation, which took place before the formation of a large amount of tight sandstone gas, forming tight reservoirs with low porosity and permeability, fine pore throat and great capillary resistance; the paleo-structural gradient ratio is small from the main hydrocarbon generation period to present. It is indicated the present distribution of tight sandstone gas in the northern Ordos Basin is the result of near-source and short-distance migration and accumulation.  相似文献

Two epithermal gold deposits (Kartaldağ and Madendağ) located in NW Turkey have been characterized through the detailed examinations involving geologic, mineralogical, fluid inclusion, stable isotope, whole-rock geochemistry, and geochronology data. The Kartaldağ deposit (0.01–17.65 ppm Au), hosted by Eocene dacite porphyry, is associated with four main alteration types with characteristic assemblage of: i) chlorite/smectite–illite ± kaolinite, ii) quartz–kaolinite, iii) quartz–alunite–pyrophyllite, iv) quartz–pyrite, the last being characterized by three distinct quartz generations comprising massive/vuggy (early), fine–medium grained, vug-lining (early), and banded, colloform, comb (late) textures. Observed sulfide minerals are pyrite, covellite, and sphalerite. Oxygen and sulfur isotope analyses, performed on quartz (δ18O(quartz): 7.93 to 8.95‰ and calculated δ18O(H2O): − 7.95 to 1.49‰) and pyrite (δ34S(pyrite): − 4.8‰ and calculated δ34S(H2S): − 6.08 to − 7.20‰) separates, suggest a meteoric water source for water in the hydrothermal fluid, and an igneous source for the sulfur dissolved in ore-related fluids. Microthermometric analyses of primary fluid inclusion assemblages performed on quartz (late quartz generation) yield temperatures (Th) dominantly in the range of 245–285 °C, and generally low salinity values at 0 to 1.7 wt.% NaCl eq. Based on the quartz textures and the associated base metal concentrations, along with fluid inclusion petrography, the early vug-lining quartz is considered to have been associated with the mineralization possibly through a boiling and a late mixing process at > 285 °C.The Madendağ deposit (0.27–20.60 ppm Au), hosted by Paleozoic mica schists, is associated with two main alteration types: sericite–illite–kaolinite, and quartz–pyrite dominated by two distinct quartz generations i) early colloform, comb and banded quartz and ii) late quartz, forming the cement in hydrothermal breccia. Whereas oxygen isotope analyses of quartz (δ18O(quartz): 9.55 to 18.19‰ and calculated δ18O(H2O): − 2.97 to 5.54‰) suggest varying proportions of meteoric and magmatic sources for the ore bearing fluid, sulfur isotope ratios (δ34S(pyrite): − 2.2‰ and calculated δ34S(H2S): (− 3.63) to (− 3.75) ‰) point to an essentially magmatic source for sulfur with or without contribution from sedimentary sources. Microthermometric analysis carried out on primary fluid inclusion populations of a brecciated sample (early quartz), give a temperature (Th) range of 235–255 °C and 0.0 to 0.7 wt.% NaCl eq. salinity. Based on the textural relationship, base metal and high gold contents, the ore precipitation stage is associated with late stage quartz formation via a possible boiling process. The presence of alunite, pyrophyllite and kaolinite, vuggy quartz and covellite suggest a high-sulfidation type of epithermal deposit for Kartaldağ. On the other hand, Madendağ is identified as an adularia-sericite type owing to the presence of significant sericite, neutral pH clays (mostly illite, chlorite/smectite, and kaolinite), low temperature quartz textures (e.g., colloform, comb, and banded quartz), and limited sulfide minerals.Given the geographical proximity of Kartaldağ and Madendağ deposits, the similar temperature and salinity ranges obtained from their fluid inclusions, and the similar ages of igneous rocks in both deposits (Kartaldağ: 40.80 ± 0.36 to 42.19 ± 0.45 Ma, Madendağ: 43.34 ± 0.85 Ma) the mineralizing systems in both deposits are considered to be genetically related.  相似文献

Polymetallic vein-type Zn-Pb deposits are located in the Xiangxi–Qiandong zinc-lead metallogenic belt (XQMB) of the northwestern margin of the Jiangnan Orogen, South China. Ores are mainly found in fault-bounded quartz veins hosted in the upper part of the Banxi Group that consists of low-grade metamorphic sandstone, siltstone with minor tuff interbeds. The Zn-Pb deposits primarily contain sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite and pyrite, accompanied by quartz and minor calcite. Zinc, lead, copper, indium and gallium are enriched in these ores. Investigation of the ore fluid reveals low temperature (87–262 °C) with scattered salinity (range from 2.73 to 26.64 wt% NaCleqv.). Hydrogen and oxygen isotopic compositions of fluid inclusions in quartz indicate mixing of magmatic hydrothermal fluid and meteoric water (δ18OH2O SMOW = 0.2‰ to 4.2‰; δDH2O SMOW = −126‰ to −80‰). Carbon and oxygen isotopic composition of carbonate samples indicate the magmatic hydrothermal origin of CO32− or CO2 in ore-forming fluid (δ13CPDB = −6.9‰ to −5.7‰, δ18OSMOW = 11.3‰ to 12.7‰). Sulfur and lead isotopic compositions (δ34SVCDT = 8.8–14.2‰ and 206Pb/204Pb = 17.156–17.209, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.532–15.508, 208Pb/204Pb = 37.282–37.546) demonstrate that sulfur sources were relatively uniform, and low radiogenic lead isotopic compositions indicate that ore metals were derived from a relatively unradiogenic source, probably by mixing of mantle with crust. Therefore, polymetallic vein-type Zn-Pb mineralization in this area probably arose from a magmatic-related hydrothermal system, and the deposition of sulfides occurred in response to cooling and boiling of magmatic hydrothermal fluids (high salinity, high δ18OH2O and δDH2O and metal-bearing), and is mainly the result of emplacement into open space and mixing with meteoric water (low salinity, low δ18OH2O and δDH2O). This study provides direct evidence that magmatism was involved in the ore-forming processes of the low temperature metallogenic district, South China, and it raises awareness about the presence of polymetallic vein-type Zn-Pb deposits in the northwest margin of Jiangnan Orogen and their potential as a source of zinc, copper, indium and gallium.  相似文献

Exploration of unconventional natural gas reservoirs such as impermeable shale basins through the use of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing has changed the energy landscape in the USA providing a vast new energy source. The accelerated production of natural gas has triggered a debate concerning the safety and possible environmental impacts of these operations. This study investigates one of the critical aspects of the environmental effects; the possible degradation of water quality in shallow aquifers overlying producing shale formations. The geochemistry of domestic groundwater wells was investigated in aquifers overlying the Fayetteville Shale in north-central Arkansas, where approximately 4000 wells have been drilled since 2004 to extract unconventional natural gas. Monitoring was performed on 127 drinking water wells and the geochemistry of major ions, trace metals, CH4 gas content and its C isotopes (δ13CCH4), and select isotope tracers (δ11B, 87Sr/86Sr, δ2H, δ18O, δ13CDIC) compared to the composition of flowback-water samples directly from Fayetteville Shale gas wells. Dissolved CH4 was detected in 63% of the drinking-water wells (32 of 51 samples), but only six wells exceeded concentrations of 0.5 mg CH4/L. The δ13CCH4 of dissolved CH4 ranged from −42.3‰ to −74.7‰, with the most negative values characteristic of a biogenic source also associated with the highest observed CH4 concentrations, with a possible minor contribution of trace amounts of thermogenic CH4. The majority of these values are distinct from the reported thermogenic composition of the Fayetteville Shale gas (δ13CCH4 = −35.4‰ to −41.9‰). Based on major element chemistry, four shallow groundwater types were identified: (1) low (<100 mg/L) total dissolved solids (TDS), (2) TDS > 100 mg/L and Ca–HCO3 dominated, (3) TDS > 100 mg/L and Na–HCO3 dominated, and (4) slightly saline groundwater with TDS > 100 mg/L and Cl > 20 mg/L with elevated Br/Cl ratios (>0.001). The Sr (87Sr/86Sr = 0.7097–0.7166), C (δ13CDIC = −21.3‰ to −4.7‰), and B (δ11B = 3.9–32.9‰) isotopes clearly reflect water–rock interactions within the aquifer rocks, while the stable O and H isotopic composition mimics the local meteoric water composition. Overall, there was a geochemical gradient from low-mineralized recharge water to more evolved Ca–HCO3, and higher-mineralized Na–HCO3 composition generated by a combination of carbonate dissolution, silicate weathering, and reverse base-exchange reactions. The chemical and isotopic compositions of the bulk shallow groundwater samples were distinct from the Na–Cl type Fayetteville flowback/produced waters (TDS ∼10,000–20,000 mg/L). Yet, the high Br/Cl variations in a small subset of saline shallow groundwater suggest that they were derived from dilution of saline water similar to the brine in the Fayetteville Shale. Nonetheless, no spatial relationship was found between CH4 and salinity occurrences in shallow drinking water wells with proximity to shale-gas drilling sites. The integration of multiple geochemical and isotopic proxies shows no direct evidence of contamination in shallow drinking-water aquifers associated with natural gas extraction from the Fayetteville Shale.  相似文献

We have investigated the petrography, geochemistry, and detrital zircon U–Pb LA-ICPMS dating of sandstone from the Gorkhi Formation of the Khangai–Khentei belt in the Ulaanbaatar area, central Mongolia. These data are used to constrain the provenance and source rock composition of the accretionary complex, which is linked to subduction of the Paleo-Asian Ocean within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt during the Middle Devonian to Early Carboniferous. Field and microscopic observations of the modal composition of sandstone and constituent mineral chemistry indicate that the sandstone of the Gorkhi Formation is feldspathic arenite, enriched in saussuritized plagioclase. Geochemical data show that most of the sandstone and shale were derived from a continental margin to continental island arc setting, with plutonic rocks being the source rocks. Detrital zircon 206Pb/238U ages of two sandstones yields age peaks of 322 ± 3 and 346 ± 3 Ma. The zircon 206Pb/238U age of a quartz–pumpellyite vein that cuts sandstone has a weighted mean age of 339 ± 3 Ma. Based on these zircon ages, we infer that the depositional age of sandstone within the Gorkhi Formation ranges from 320 to 340 Ma (i.e., Early Carboniferous). The provenance and depositional age of the Gorkhi Formation suggest that the evolution of the accretionary complex was influenced by the intrusion and erosion of plutonic rocks during the Early Carboniferous. We also suggest that spatial and temporal changes in the provenance of the accretionary complex in the Khangai–Khentei belt, which developed aound the southern continental margin of the Siberian Craton in relation to island arc activity, were influenced by northward subduction of the Paleo-Asian Ocean plate.  相似文献

The several-hundred-m-thick Miocene Upper Red Formation in northwestern Iran hosts stratiform and fault-controlled copper mineralization. Copper enrichment in the percent range occurs in dm-thick carbonaceous sandstone and shale units within the clastic redbed sequence and consists of fine-grained disseminated copper sulfides (chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite) and supergene alteration minerals (covellite, malachite and azurite). The copper mineralization formed after calcite cementation of the primary rock permeability. Copper sulfides occur mainly as replacement of diagenetic pyrite, which, in turn, replaced organic matter. Electron microprobe analysis on bornite, chalcocite and covellite identifies elevated silver contents in these minerals (up to 0.12, 0.72 and 1.21 wt%, respectively), whereas chalcopyrite and pyrite have only trace amounts of silver (<0.26 and 0.06 wt%, respectively). Microthermometric data on fluid inclusions in authigenic quartz and calcite indicate that the Cu mineralization is related to a diagenetic fluid of moderate-to low temperature (Th = 96–160 °C) but high salinity (25–38 wt% CaCl2 equiv.). The range of δ34S in pyrite is −41.9 to −16.4‰ (average −31.4‰), where framboidal pyrite shows the most negative values between −41.9 and −31.8‰, and fine-grained pyrite has relatively heavier δ34S values (−29.2 to −16.4‰), consistent with a bacteriogenic derivation of the sulfur. The Cu-sulfides (chalcopyrite, bornite and chalcocite) show slightly heavier values from −14.6 to −9.0‰, and their sulfur sources may be both the precursor pyrite-S and the bacterial reduction of sulfate-bearing basinal brines. Carbonates related to the ore stage show isotopically light values of δ13CV-PDB from −8.2 to −5.1‰ and δ18OV-PDB from −10.3 to −7.2‰, indicating a mixed source of oxidation of organic carbon (ca. −20‰) and HCO3 from seawater/porewater (ca. 0‰). The copper mineralization is mainly controlled by organic matter content and paleopermeability (intragranular space to large fracture patterns), enhanced by feldspar and calcite dissolution. The Cheshmeh-Konan deposit can be classified as a redbed-type sediment-hosted stratiform copper (SSC) deposit.  相似文献

The Huangshaping granites in Hunan Province, South China were investigated for their geochemical characteristics. Three types of granites have been petrographically identified: quartz porphyry, granophyre, and granite porphyry. Whole rock geochemistry suggests that the Huangshaping granites, especially the granite porphyry, exhibit typical A-type granite characteristics with their enrichment in Si, Rb, U, Th, and Nb and significant depletion in Ba, Sr, Ti, Eu, and P. Based on the Al, Y and Zr contents as well as the REE patterns of the rocks investigated, the quartz porphyry and the granophyre are classified as A1 type alkaline granites whereas the granite porphyry is considered as A2 type aluminous granite. Whole rock and quartz/feldspar O isotope data yields a wide range of δ18OSMOW values (11.09–26.32‰). The granites are characterized by high radiogenic Pb isotopic composition. The present-day whole rock Pb isotopic ratios are 206Pb/204Pb = 18.706–19.155, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.616–15.711 and 208Pb/204Pb = 38.734–39.296. Combining the O–Pb isotope compositions with major, trace and REE geochemistry and regional geology characteristics, the Huangshaping granites were determined to resemble within-plate granites that were mainly derived from a felsic infracrustal source related to continental extension. The magma source of the quartz porphyry and the granophyre may have been generated from deeper depths, and then ascended rapidly with limited water content and low oxygen fugacity, which contributed to Cu, Pb and Zn mineralization. On the other hand, the magma that generated the granite porphyry may have ascended relatively slower and experienced pronounced crystal fractionation, upper-crustal basement rock contamination (assimilation) and wall–rock interaction, producing the Sn- and W-rich granite porphyry. This study reveals the crustal extension process and associated magmatic–metallogenic activities during 180–150 Ma in South Hunan.  相似文献

The Taldybulak Levoberezhny gold deposit, located in the eastern part of the Kyrgyz Northern Tien Shan, is hosted in highly deformed Precambrian schist and gneisses that have undergone intense quartz, carbonate, fuchsite and tourmaline alterations. Gold mineralization is ultimately subdivided into two stages based on the observation of alteration assemblages, orebody geometries, and the occurrences of Au-bearing minerals. Negative thermal ionization mass spectrometry Re–Os isotopic analyses of five Au-rich pyrite samples from the early stage yielded an isochron age of 511 ± 18 Ma. Zircon sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe U–Pb dating of a diorite dike sample postdating the late stage mineralization yielded a wide range of ages from 3055 to 291 Ma, while a weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 414.6 ± 6.8 Ma is believed to represent the age of dike intrusion and the upper limit on the timing of the late stage quartz–tourmaline–gold formation. The pyrite 187Os/188Os(initial) ratio of 0.132 ± 0.011, together with γOs values varying from 0 to + 14, indicate a major mantle component for the source of Os and by inference ore metals, which may be linked to the ophiolite suite of the Kopurelisai Complex in the Taldybulak Levoberezhny area. Considering the geodynamic setting of the Kyrgyz Northern Tien Shan during the early Paleozoic, we suggest that Cambrian mineralization of the Taldybulak Levoberezhny deposit can be attributed to a subduction-related setting, probably associated with the earliest accretion of the Northern Tien Shan.  相似文献

Trace element contents and distributions in authigenic quartz cement in deeply buried (2500–4000 m) Haushi Group sandstones from wells in Oman have been investigated in order to determine the factors that control trace element uptake during precipitation.Scanning electron microscope-cathodoluminescence images show well developed growth zones within the quartz cement, which correlate with chemical zonations observed in electron microprobe Al distribution maps. The most abundant trace elements are Al (50–3000 μg g?1), Li (1–100 μg g?1), Na (1–40 μg g?1), and Ge (0.3–5 μg g?1) with a strong linear correlation between Li and Al and a weaker one between Ge and Al. The molar concentration of Li (+ Na) accounts only for ~ 15% of the charge compensation for Al3+ substitution of Si4+. Though H was not measured in this study, these data indicate a major role of H in charge balancing Al3+. The samples belong to the same stratigraphic unit and have similar petrography, but show considerable variability in absolute trace element concentrations between different wells. This variability does not correlate with either sample depth or temperature and shows no regional pattern, but seems to reflect petrophysical and tectonic differences within the sedimentary basin.Petrographic observations of the cogenetic mineral assemblages and hydrochemical modelling indicate that a change from the equilibrium assemblage quartz–kaolinite (–dolomite) to quartz–illite (–dolomite) reflects a decrease in the CO2 concentration and concurrent variations of the Al concentration. It is concluded that changes in the CO2 concentrations are responsible for fluctuations in fluid Al concentrations and thus likely also in the investigated quartz cements.  相似文献

The Jiehe gold deposit, containing a confirmed gold reserve of 34 tonnes (t), is a Jiaojia-type (disseminated/stockwork-style) gold deposit in Jiaodong Peninsula. Orebodies are hosted in the contact zone between the Jurassic Moshan biotite granite and the Cretaceous Shangzhuang porphyritic granodiorite, and are structurally controlled by the NNE- to NE-striking Wangershan-Hedong Fault. Sulphide minerals are composed predominantly of pyrite with lesser amounts of chalcopyrite, galena, and sphalerite. Hydrothermal alteration is strictly controlled by fracture zones, in which disseminated sulfides and native gold are spatially associated with pervasive sericitic alteration. Mineralogical, textural, and field relationships indicate four stages of alteration and mineralization, including pyrite-bearing milky and massive quartz (stage 1), light-gray granular quartz–pyrite (stage 2), quartz–polysulfide (stage 3) and quartz–carbonate (stage 4) stages. Economic gold is precipitated in stages 2 and 3.The Jiehe deposit was previously considered to form during the Eocene (46.5 ± 2.3 Ma), based on Rb-Sr dating of sericite. However, 40Ar/39Ar dating of sericite in this study yields well-defined, reproducible plateau ages between 118.8 ± 0.7 Ma and 120.7 ± 0.8 Ma. These 40Ar/39Ar ages are consistent with geochronological data from other gold deposits in the region, indicating that all gold deposits in Jiaodong formed in a short-term period around 120 Ma. The giant gold mineralization event has a tight relationship with the extensional tectonic regime, and is a shallow crustal metallogenic response of paleo-Pacific slab subduction and lithospheric destruction in the eastern NCC.  相似文献

The giant Jianchaling gold deposit is located in the Shaanxi Province, China. The mineralization is hosted by WNW-trending faults in the Mianxian-Lueyang-Yangpingguan (MLY) area. The mineralization can be divided into three stages based on mineralogical assemblages and crosscutting relationships of mineralized quartz veins. These stages, from early to late, are characterized by the mineral assemblage of: (1) quartz – coarse-grained pyrite – pyrrhotite – pentlandite – dolomite; (2) quartz – pyrite – gold – sphalerite – galena – carbonate – arsenopyrite – fuchsite; and (3) dolomite – calcite – quartz – fine-grained pyrite – realgar – orpiment.Three types of fluid inclusions have been recognized in this study based on petrographic and microthermometric measurements, including pure CO2 and/or CH4 (PC-type), NaCl-H2O (W-type), and NaCl-CO2-H2O (C-type) fluid inclusions. These fluid inclusion types are present in quartz from the Stage 1 and 2 assemblages, whereas the Stage 3 quartz only contains W-type fluid inclusions. The Stage 2 assemblage is associated with the mineralization at the Jianchaling deposit. Fluid inclusions of Stage 1 quartz homogenize mainly between 250° and 360 °C, with salinities up to 15.6 wt.% NaCl equiv., whereas the Stage 3 dolomite with homogenization temperatures of 160° – 220 °C and salinities of 1.1–7.4 wt.% NaCl equiv. This indicates that the ore fluid system evolved from CO2-rich, probably metamorphic hydrothermal to CO2-poor, meteoric fluid. All three types of fluid inclusions can be observed in the Stage 2 quartz, suggesting that this heterogeneous association was trapped from a boiling fluid system. These inclusions homogenized at temperatures of 200°–250 °C and salinities of 1.2–12.4 wt.% NaCl equiv. The estimated trapping pressures of the fluid inclusions are between 117 and 354 MPa in Stage 1, suggesting an alternating lithostatic–hydrostatic fluid system, which was controlled by a fault-valve at the depth of ~ 12 km.Two fuchsite samples collected from the Stage 2 polymetallic-quartz veins yielded well-defined 40Ar/39Ar isotopic plateau ages of 197 ± 2 and 194 ± 2 Ma, and 39Ar/36Ar-40Ar/36Ar normal isochrones of 198 ± 2 and 199 ± 2 Ma. This indicates that the mineralization at Jianchaling is Early Jurassic (ca. 198 Ma) in age. We propose that Jianchaling is an orogenic gold deposit, and formed during continental collision related to the northward subduction of the Mian-Lue oceanic plate during the Early Jurassic. We also conclude that the beginning of the continental collision between the Yangtze and the North China Cratons took place around 200 Ma.  相似文献

The most suitable candidates for subsurface storage of CO2 are depleted gas fields. Their ability to retain CO2 can however be influenced by the effect which impurities in the CO2 stream (e.g. H2S and SO2) have on the mineralogy of reservoir and seal. In order to investigate the effects of SO2 we carried out laboratory experiments on reservoir and cap rock core samples from gas fields in the northeast of the Netherlands. The rock samples were contained in reactor vessels for 30 days in contact with CO2 and 100 ppm SO2 under in-situ conditions (300 bar, 100 °C). The vessels also contained brine with the same composition as in the actual reservoir. Furthermore equilibrium modeling was carried out using PHREEQC software in order to model the experiments on caprock samples. After the experiments the permeability of the reservoir samples had increased by a factor of 1.2–2.2 as a result of dissolution of primary reservoir minerals. Analysis of the associated brine samples before and after the experiments showed that concentrations of K, Si and Al had increased, indicative of silicate mineral dissolution. In the caprock samples, composed of carbonate and anhydrite minerals, permeability changed by a factor of 0.79–23. The increase in permeability is proportional to the amount of carbonate in the caprock. With higher carbonate content in comparison with anhydrite the permeability increase is higher due to the additional carbonate dissolution. This dependency of permeability variations was verified by the modeling study. Hence, caprock with a higher anhydrite content in comparison with carbonate minerals has a lower risk of leakage after co-injection of 100 ppmv SO2 with CO2.  相似文献

The Mombi bauxite deposit is located in 165 km northwest of Dehdasht city, southwestern Iran. The deposit is situated in the Zagros Simply Fold Belt and developed as discontinuous stratified layers in Upper Cretaceous carbonates (Sarvak Formation). Outcrops of the bauxitic horizons occur in NW-SE trending Bangestan anticline and are situated between the marine neritic limestones of the Ilam and Sarvak Formations. From the bottom to top, the deposit is generally consisting of brown, gray, pink, pisolitic, red, and yellow bauxite horizons. Boehmite, diaspore, kaolinite, and hematite are the major mineral components, while gibbsite, goethite, anatase, rutile, pyrite, chlorite, quartz, as well as feldspar occur to a lesser extent. The Eh–pH conditions during bauxitization in the Mombi bauxite deposit show oxidizing to reducing conditions during the Upper Cretaceous. This feature seems to be general and had a significant effect on the mineral composition of Cretaceous bauxite deposits in the Zagros fold belt. Geochemical data show that Al2O3, SiO2, Fe2O3 and TiO2 are the main components in the bauxite ores at Mombi and immobile elements like Al, Ti, Nb, Zr, Hf, Cr, Ta, Y, and Th were enriched while Rb, Ba, K, Sr, and P were depleted during the bauxitization process. Chondrite-normalized REE pattern in the bauxite ores indicate REE enrichment (ΣREE = 162.8–755.28 ppm, ave. ∼399.36 ppm) relative to argillic limestone (ΣREE = 76.26–84.03 ppm, ave. ∼80.145 ppm) and Sarvak Formation (ΣREE = 40.15 ppm). The REE patterns also reflect enrichment in LREE relative to HREE. Both positive and negative Ce anomalies (0.48–2.0) are observed in the Mombi bauxite horizons. These anomalies are related to the change of oxidation state of Ce (from Ce3+ to Ce4+), ionic potential, and complexation of Ce4+ with carbonate compounds in the studied horizons. It seems that the variations in the chemistry of ore-forming solutions (e.g., Eh and pH), function of carbonate host rock as a geochemical barrier, and leaching degree of lanthanide-bearing minerals are the most important controlling factors in the distribution and concentration of REEs. Several lines of evidences such as Zr/Hf and Nb/Ta ratios as well as similarity in REE patterns indicate that the underlying marly limestone (Sarvak Formation) could be considered as the source of bauxite horizons. Based on mineralogical and geochemical data, it could be inferred that the Mombi deposit has been formed in a karstic environment during karstification and weathering of the Sarvak limy Formation.  相似文献

The Wenyu giant gold deposit is hosted in the Precambrian Taihua Supergroup metamorphic rocks within the Xiaoqinling terrane (Qinling Orogen), on the southern margin of the North China Craton. The mineralization can be divided into three stages: quartz–pyrite veins early, quartz–sulfide veins middle (main), and carbonate–quartz veinlets late, with gold being mainly introduced in main stage. Quartz formed in two earlier stages contains three compositional types of fluid inclusions, i.e. pure CO2, CO2–H2O and NaCl–H2O, but the late-stage minerals only contain the NaCl–H2O inclusions. The inclusions in quartz formed in the early, main and late stages yield total homogenization temperatures of 262–417 °C, 236–407 °C and 114–239 °C, respectively, with salinities no higher than 13 wt.% NaCl equiv. Trapping pressures estimated from CO2–H2O inclusions are 139–399 MPa and 111–316 MPa in the early and main stages, corresponding to mineralization depths of 14 km and 11 km, respectively. Fluid boiling and mixing caused rapid precipitation of sulfides and native Au. Through boiling and inflow of meteoric water, the ore-forming fluid system evolved from CO2-rich to CO2-poor in composition, and from metamorphic to meteoric, as indicated by decreasing δ18Owater values from early to late. The carbon, sulfur and lead isotope compositions suggest the hostrocks within the Taihua Supergroup to be a significant source of ore metals. Integrating the data obtained from the studies including regional geology, ore geology, fluid inclusion and C–H–O–S–Pb isotope geochemistry, we conclude that the Wenyu gold deposit was an orogenic-type system formed in the tectonic transition from compression to extension during the Jurassic–Early Cretaceous continental collision between the North China and Yangtze Cratons.  相似文献
