Radio frequency observations of cloud-to-ground lightning (CG) were made in 1999 in Guangdong Province with the broadband lightning interferometer. In this paper, radiation source locations and electric field waveforms are analyzed for different types of breakdown events, including the preliminary breakdown of in-cloud activities, the stepped leaders of initial strokes to ground and activities during and following return strokes. It is shown that the structure and development of lightning discharges and associated breakdown processes can be reconstructed by using this new type of lightning radiation source location system. The detectable radiation of lightning was primarily produced by the negative breakdown process. The channel was concentrated with few branches during the preliminary breakdown stage of CG lightning flashes. The radiation sources appeared generally at the tip of the channel. During the late period of the stepped leader, the radiation sources were dispersed with branches extended away from the main channel. The radiation sources were in a certain length segment of the channel and the altitude of the segment descended along with the propagation of the leader to the ground. During the preliminary breakdown and the stepped leader of initial strokes to the ground, a sequence of fast negative streamers were observed to start continually from or farther away the lightning-initiated region and propagate along the developed leader channel, which may supply negative charge that assisted the leader’s development. The progression speed of fast negative streamers was about ten times faster than the average speed of lightning channel.  相似文献

1980年4月14日SMM卫星曾经观测到了爆发在两冕流结构之间开放磁场中的CME独特的传播特征以及冕流结构的畸变和偏转。本文采用了2.5维MHD方程,用数值模拟方法研究了CME和冕流结构之间复杂的相互作用过程.模拟结果不但展现了SMM卫星所观测到的CME的独特的传播特征和冕流结构的畸变和偏转,而且还发现了在冕流结构和CME的相互作用中,冕流结构内部轴向磁场分量的反转效应.模拟结果对磁云和磁暴活动的研究也具有一定的意义.  相似文献

There are different types of acoustic noise induced in streamer cables. One type consists of pulsed waves preferentially generated by vertical motions of the towing ship or of the tail buoy. The pulsed waves travel along the streamer with low attenuation and a velocity about 15% less than the velocity of water. Frequencies observed lie between 5 and 15 Hz. These pulsed waves are well known and for the last few years acoustic isolator sections have been used to reduce their generation. But under bad weather conditions and especially in cold water these waves become stronger. Recent investigations demonstrated that the pulsed waves are able to produce a high noise level even in new streamers with acceleration cancelling hydrophones. We point out that the material of the hoses has a dominant effect on the amplitude picked up by the hydrophones. Acoustic theory is applied to understand the phenomenon of these waves.  相似文献

Sprites are optical emissions in the mesosphere mainly at altitudes 50–90 km. They are caused by the sudden re-distribution of charge due to lightning in the troposphere which can produce electric fields in the mesosphere in excess of the local breakdown field. The resulting optical displays can be spectacular and this has led to research into the physics and chemistry involved. Imaging at faster than 5,000 frames per second has revealed streamer discharges to be an important and very dynamic part of sprites, and this paper will review high-speed observations of sprite streamers. Streamers are initiated in the 65–85 km altitude range and observed to propagate both down and up at velocities normally in the 106–5 × 107 m/s range. Sprite streamer heads are small, typically less than a few hundreds of meters, but very bright and appear in images much like stars with signals up to that expected of a magnitude ?6 star. Many details of streamer formation have been modeled and successfully compared with observations. Streamers frequently split into multiple sub-streamers. The splitting is very fast. To resolve details will require framing rates higher than the maximum 32,000 fps used so far. Sprite streamers are similar to streamers observed in the laboratory and, although many features appear to obey simple scaling laws, recent work indicates that there are limits to the scaling.  相似文献

斜缆采集是近些年发展起来的海上采集技术,主要为了压制虚反射,获得高品质的宽频地震资料。线形斜缆和弧形斜缆是目前最常用的斜缆类型,能够获取较多的高低频信息。针对这两种斜缆采集方式,通过对比不同采集参数的地震记录及其消除虚反射后的数据,发现弧形斜缆采集观测系统明显优于线形斜缆,不仅在波场模拟中表现出较好的特征,而且在虚反射消除的过程中,引入了较小的噪声,能够获得较高信噪比的地震资料。分析模型测试的结果,证明海上地震勘探中更适合采用弧形斜缆。   相似文献

The response of transformer-coupled and transformerless marine seismic streamers feeding seismic amplifiers with and without input transformer is analysed with the aid of equivalent circuits. Examples are calculated showing how improvements in the performance of two practical transformer-coupled streamers, namely the increase in bandwidth and sensitivity and the decrease in the dependence on cable length, can be achieved when some of the streamers parameters are properly chosen. Transformerless streamer systems driving either a voltage amplifier or a “charge” amplifier are shown to be inherently superior to those with coupling transformers, save possibly in respect of their sensitivity to cross-feed.  相似文献

The use of very long streamers in marine seismic surveys makes the response offset dependent. Line equalization networks are used to balance this effect. In this paper the response of the transformerless streamer system driving a charge amplifier is analyzed. Examples are given for a seismic cable 2500 m long, showing that the delay and the reduction in amplitude of the streamer impulse response in the absence of leakage are of the order of 1 ms and 0.6 dB, respectively. This means that the line equalization network currently used with the transformerless streamer system is not needed. We have also demonstrated that the presence of leakage resistance across the hydrophone group render the sensitivity of the transformerless streamer system offset dependent.  相似文献

It has been speculated for many years that the development of the droplet spectra in cloud is probably influenced by mixing processes. Various theoretical attempts to broaden the droplet spectra by mixing parcels with different velocity histories has shown that that particular effect is small. Similarly, very simpleuniform entrainment procedures did not lead to cloud drop size spectra which were broad enough, although by producing cloud drop size distributions with a double mode these models did substantially improve the drop size spectra of earlier adiabatic models which only exhibited a single mode.Recently a model based on entraining entities representing moving parcels of cloud air within the cloud was detailed byTelford andChai (1980). This study showed that the mixing in of dry air at cumulus turrets could lead to vertical cycling of diluted parcels, and that this cycling, with continual entrainment across the parcel boundaries, will produce much larger drops, as well as smaller drops of all sizes, in the droplet spectra. The entity entrainment concept studied there appears to apply to the observations of stratus cloud discussed in this paper.This paper presents data taken in marine stratus off the California coast which give a particularly clear example of how such droplet spectra modification occurs in practice. Both large drops, and the spread of the spectra to smaller sizes, occur in relation to other variables in such a way as to be consistent with an entity entrainment explanation, with no other obvious possibility.In a marine stratus cloud just over 200 m thick and many tens of miles in extent we find clear evidence that dry air is mixing in at cloud tops. Strong vertical motion is to be found in the cloud, large sized drops are found in cloud parcels where the mixing gives lower droplet concentrations, and there is evidence that newly formed cloud parcels are warmer and contain many more smaller droplets.The observations show that immediately following entrainment of dry air drop diameters are not reduced appreciably, but, in the same parcels, drop concentrations have been reduced by a factor of ten or more. Further down in the cloud big drops, able to start growth by coalescence, are found associated with low total droplet concentrations.Overall, it seems likely from the consideration of these observations that the formation of the large drops which lead to precipitation processes in clouds depends critically on the mixing in of dry air at cloud tops, and very little on the size of the small drops resulting from the condensation nucleus counts. As a conclusion it appears reasonable to state that if entrainment occurs at cloud tops, then big drops will be formed!  相似文献

This paper describes the first attempt to infer ocean currents from the shapes of seismic streamers using real data. It demonstrates that it is feasible to infer the ocean currents, using a total least‐squares solution at each shotpoint, when there is no lateral steering. There are some artefacts in the inferred currents when there is lateral steering; this is believed to be caused by errors in estimating the streamer velocity. This paper describes the residual equations that form the cost function and discusses how to choose weights in the cost function based on physical criteria. Correctly choosing weights is something of an art and requires further research to make automatic and robust.  相似文献

Summary Numerical calculations were carried out to determine the effect of a vertical electric field on the efficiency with which electrically charged or uncharged cloud drops and small raindrops of diameters ranging from 84 m to 1.248 mm collide with electrically charged or uncharged particles of density 2 gm/cm3 and diameters between 1 and 20 m. For this purpose, numerical flow fields about spheres of Reynolds numbers ranging from 1 to 400 were used to integrate the trajectory of the particle relative to the drop, and the force between two conducting spheres was used to represent the electrostatic force on the particle. The effect of thunderstorm strength electric charges and field on the collision efficiency was found to be highly significant for the smaller collector drops, and declined to insignificance for the largest collector drop.  相似文献

The design of a standard hydrophone with a maximally flat (Butterworth) response in the frequency range 8.0 Hz-1.0 kHz is described. The standard hydrophone has been developed primarily for calibrating line hydrophone arrays (seismic streamers) and marine seismic sources. The standard hydrophone has been used successfully during the past eight years for monitoring the output of a single air gun. The rough sea surface causes perturbations in the seismic data that can be significant for time‐lapse studies. The perturbations arise because the reflection response of the non‐flat sea perturbs the seismic wavelet. In order to remove these perturbations from the received seismic data, special deconvolution methods can be used, but these methods require, as input, the time varying wave elevation above each hydrophone in the streamer. In addition, the vertical displacement of the streamer itself must also be known at the position of each hydrophone and at all times. This information is not available in conventional seismic acquisition. However, it can be obtained from the hydrophone measurements provided that the hydrophones are recorded individually (not grouped), that the recording bandwidth is extended down to 0.05 Hz and that data are recorded without gaps between the shot records. The sea surface elevation, and also the wave‐induced vertical displacement of the streamer, can be determined from the time‐varying pressure that the sea waves cause in the hydrophone measurements. When this was done experimentally, using a single sensor seismic streamer without a conventional low cut filter, the wave induced pressure variations were easily detected. The inversion of these experimental data gives results for the sea surface elevation that are consistent with the weather and sea state at the time of acquisition. A high tension approximation allows a simplified solution of the equations that does not demand a knowledge of the streamer tension. However, best results at the tail end of the streamer are obtained using the general equation.  相似文献

CO2 has been injected into the saline aquifer Utsira Fm at the Sleipner field since 1996. In order to monitor the movement of the CO2 in the sub‐surface, the seventh seismic monitor survey was acquired in 2010, with dual sensor streamers which enabled optimal towing depths compared to previous surveys. We here report both on the time‐lapse observations and on the improved resolution compared to the conventional streamer surveys. This study shows that the CO2 is still contained in the subsurface, with no indications of leakage. The time‐lapse repeatability of the dual sensor streamer data versus conventional data is sufficient for interpreting the time‐lapse effects of the CO2 at Sleipner, and the higher resolution of the 2010 survey has enabled a refinement of the interpretation of nine CO2 saturated layers with improved thickness estimates of the layers. In particular we have estimated the thickness of the uppermost CO2 layer based on an analysis of amplitude strength together with time‐separation of top and base of this layer and found the maximum thickness to be 11 m. This refined interpretation gives a good base line for future time‐lapse surveys at the Sleipner CO2 injection site.  相似文献

海洋地震勘探过程中,由于采集设备的老化或电源的不稳定而造成的漏电,在地震记录表现为强噪音干扰,利用常规噪音衰减方法处理此类强噪音效果并不理想。鉴于强噪音在统计学上具有相同的特性,本文在基于峰度的盲分离(blind source separation,BSS)算法研究基础上,推导出一种基于多用户峰度(multiuser kurtosis,MUK)准则的噪音衰减算法来估计地震记录中具有相同统计特性的强噪音,并将其从地震记录中分离,从而达到衰减强噪音的目的。模型试验与实际资料的处理表明:该方法能够在好的衰减海洋地震勘探记录中的强噪音,保留了更多的有效信息,提高海洋地震数据的信噪比,具有可行性和应用前景。  相似文献

Autonomous marine vehicles instrumented with seismic sensors allow for new efficient seismic survey designs. One such design is the swarm survey, where a group, or swarm, of slow moving autonomous marine vehicles record seismic data from shots fired by a source vessel sailing around circles within the swarm. The size of the swarm is dictated by the maximum offset requirement of the survey, and it can be shaped to acquire wide‐ and full‐azimuth data. The swarm survey design equation describes the relationship between the source and receiver positions of the survey and the subsurface coverage or fold. It is used to adapt the swarm to the seismic survey requirements and to calculate survey duration time estimates as function of available equipment. It is shown that a survey conducted by a slowly moving swarm requires six times fewer shots than an equivalent seabed node survey conducted over 85.5 km2. Swarm surveys can also be adapted to efficiently conduct infill surveys and replace multi‐vessel undershoots. The efficiency of the survey can further be increased when the autonomous marine vehicles are towing short streamers with multiple receivers. Synthetic tests show that the seismic images for swarm surveys are comparable to those from streamer surveys, while little variation in image quality is found when reducing the number of autonomous marine vehicles but equipping them with a short streamer with multiple receivers.  相似文献

This paper addresses two artefacts inherent to marine towed‐streamer surveys: 1) ghost reflections and 2) too sparse a sampling in the crossline direction. A ghost reflection is generated when an upcoming reflection bounces off the sea surface back into the sensors and can, in principle, be removed by decomposing the measured wavefield into its up‐ and downgoing constituents. This process requires a dense sampling of the wavefield in both directions along and perpendicular to the streamers. A dense sampling in the latter direction is, however, often impossible due to economical and operational constraints. Recent multi‐component streamers have been designed to record the spatial gradients on top of the pressure, which not only benefits the wavefield decomposition but also facilitates a lower‐than‐Nyquist sampling rate of the pressure. In this paper, wavefield reconstruction and deghosting are posed as a joint inverse problem. We present two approaches to establish a system matrix that embeds both a deghosting and an interpolation operator. The first approach is derived with a ghost model, whereas the second approach is derived without a ghost model. The embodiment of a ghost model leads to an even lower sampling rate but relies on a more restrictive assumption on the sea surface.  相似文献
