ST Carinae is an eclipsing binary with a period of 0 . d 90165 which is believed to consist of an A0V primary and a secondary of type F5-8IV. About 900 observations inUBV, made by Somerville in 1963 but unreduced at that time, are presented. The Wood model is used to obtain orbital elements, and four different solutions of the light curves are presented. These are also computed with the solutions obtained by previous investigators of this system. The solutions indicate a reasonably consistent geometry, but there is still substantial uncertainty with regard to the mass-ratio and dynamical status of ST Car. The possibility exists that ST Car is in the initial and rapid stage of mass exchange in which the primary component fills its Roche lobe and is losing mass to its companion. The two components of ST Car appear to be of normal dimensions, but additional work is needed to clarify the exact status of this system.  相似文献

The continuum energy distributions of a totally eclipsing binary system GG Cas at phases 0 . P 903 and 0 . P 003 in the wavelenght range 3200–7600 Å have been presented and discussed. The flux of continuum of the secondary star seems to dominate longward of 4500 Å. The spectral types of the systemic components are found to be as B4+K0.  相似文献

The first photoelectric light curve of the eclipsing binary system BW Aqr (F71V+F81V;P=6d.7;V=10 m .31), discovered by Miss Leavitt at the beginning of the century, was obtained. The photometric elements were detemined. The components of this system are considerably evolved stars: the age of the system is about 2×109 yr. It follows from the photometric data that the secondary component should have greater mass than the primary one The zero-age spectral classes of components were F2V and F1V. The system has an elliptical orbit with the eccentricitye=0.18. The angular rate of the apsidal motion (obs = 0.070 deg yr–1) and the corresponding value of the apsidal parameterk 2=0.0090 (the relativistic term included) were found. The derived valuek 2 exceeds by more than a factor of 2 the theoretical coefficient obtained from the modern theory of internal structure of stars with moderate masses .  相似文献

The speckle interferometric binary system Gl 150.2 (HIP17491) is analyzed using atmosphere modeling and dynamical analysis simultaneously. A synthetic spectral energy distribution (SED) for each of the two components of the system is built using Kurucz blanketed models. These SEDs are combined together to form the total flux, which is compared with the observed one in an iterative method to get the best fit. The parameters of the individual components which lead to the best fit are: T eff A = 5350 ± 50 K, T eff B = 4400 ± 50 K, log g A = 4.40 ± 0.05, log g B = 4.68 ± 0.05, R A = 0.95 ± 0.06R , R B = 0.58 ± 0.06R , and π = 38.63 ± 0.79 mas, as given by the modified Hipparcos measurement. A modified orbit of the system is introduced and compared with earlier orbits. Hence, the masses of the two components are derived from the coincidence between the atmosphere modeling and dynamical analysis. Based on the estimated physical and geometrical parameters of the system, which are confirmed by synthetic photometry, the spectral types and luminosity classes of the two components are found to be G9.5V and K7V for the primary and secondary stars respectively, with an age of about 8 Gyr. Finally, the positions of both components on the H-R diagram are plotted, and the formation and evolution of the system are discussed.  相似文献

Based on data from the SONG and SPR-N multichannel hard electromagnetic radiation detectors onboard the CORONAS-F space observatory and the X-ray monitors onboard GOES satellites, we have distinguished the thermal and nonthermal components in the X-ray spectrum of an extreme solar flare on January 20, 2005. In the impulsive flare phase determined from the time of the most efficient electron and proton acceleration, we have obtained parameters of the spectra for both components and their variations in the time interval 06:43–06:54 UT. The spectral index in the energy range 0.2–2 MeV for a single-power-law spectrum of accelerated electrons is shown to have been close to 3.4 for most of the time interval under consideration. We have determined the time dependence of the lower energy cutoff in the energy spectrum of nonthermal photons E γ0(t) at which the spectral flux densities of the thermal and nonthermal components become equal. The power deposited by accelerated electrons into the flare volume has been estimated using the thick-target model under two assumptions about the boundary energy E 0 of the electron spectrum: (i) E 0 is determined by E γ0(t) and (ii) E 0 is determined by the characteristic heated plasma energy (≈5kT (t)). The reality of the first assumption is proven by the fact that plasma cooling sets in at a time when the radiative losses begin to prevail over the power deposited by electrons only in this case. Comparison of the total energy deposited by electrons with a boundary energy E γ0(t) with the thermal energy of the emitting plasma in the time interval under consideration has shown that the total energy deposited by accelerated electrons at the beginning of the impulsive flare phase before 06:47 UT exceeds the thermal plasma energy by a factor of 1.5–2; subsequently, these energies become approximately equal and are ~(4–5) × 1030 erg under the assumption that the filling factor is 0.5–0.6.  相似文献

UBV photometry of RS CVn-type eclipsing binary system ER Vulpeculae has been presented. The period comes out to be 0 . d 698093. The average depths of primary and secondary minima are, respectively, 0 . m 21 and 0 . m 12. The colours at various phases have been given. A dip is seen around phase 0 . p 73 as was seen in the observations of Arevaloet al. (1988). Large scatter is present in the observations as noticed earlier, and may be due to activity of the components.  相似文献

A study of the CO2 atmospheric emissions at 10-μm in the upper atmospheres of Mars and Venus is performed in order to explain a number of ground-based measurements of these emissions recently taken at very high spectral resolution in both planets. The measurements are normally used to derive atmospheric temperatures and winds, but uncertainties on the actual emission layers were so far a serious drawback for their correct interpretation. The non-LTE models used for Mars and Venus in the present analysis are entirely similar in order to perform consistent comparisons between the two planets. In particular, the same scheme of CO2 states and ro-vibrational bands are used, with similar assumptions on collisional routes and rate coef?cients, and also the same radiative transfer approximations. The emissions at 10-μm are produced in both atmospheres by the same excitation mechanism: radiative pumping of the CO2(0001) vibrational state by direct solar absorption(at 4.3 μm) and indirect absorption (at 2.7 μm, followed by collisional quenching). The computed radiances are specially strong in the upper mesosphere and lower thermosphere of the two planets during maximum solar illumination, producing a population inversion in such conditions with the lower states of the bands, the CO2 (1000) and CO2(0200). We obtained that other population inversions are also possible, involving higher energy CO2 states. The larger solar ?ux available on Venus is found to produce larger vibrational populations and stronger emissions than equivalent atmospheric layers on Mars, in agreement with the observations. A number of perturbation studies were used to determine the exact emission altitudes, or weighting function peaks, for usual nadir sounding. The sensitivity of the emission to non-LTE model uncertainties and to atmospheric variations in temperature and CO2 density is also presented. The dependence with the solar zenith angle and with the emission angle, as obtained with this model, could also be useful for guiding future observations.  相似文献

The physical and geometrical parameters of the individual components of the binary system Hip11253 (HD14874) are estimated. We used the method described in previous papers, which consists in getting the best fit between the entire observational spectral energy distribution of the system and the synthetic ones, created from model atmospheres. The parameters of the individual components of the system are derived as: T eff a = 6030 ± 100 K, T eff b = 4470 ± 130 K, log g a = 4.27 ± 0.13, log g b = 4.04 ± 0.13, R a = 1.22 ± 0.09R, R b = 1.32 ± 0.20R, with the G0 and K4.5 spectral types for the primary and secondary components, respectively. The synthetic magnitudes of both components were calculated using the Johnson-Cousins, Strömgren, and Tycho photometrical systems. Finally the formation and evolution of the system was discussed.  相似文献

In the open cluster NGC 752, 89 stars are observed in the Vilnius seven-colour photometric system, including probable members fainter than observed hitherto. Spectral classification of observed stars are made and individual reddening values are determined. The mean reddening of the cluster stars is equivalentE(B - V) = 0 . m 025. By fitting on colour index-magnitude diagrams the cluster Main Sequence with the Hyades one the distance modulus (m - M)0 = 8 . m 15 ± 0 . m 15 is found. For 11 red giant members of the cluster absolute magnitudes are derived and compared with ones of the standard calibration. It is obtained that the cluster giants are in mean 0 . m 6 fainter than giants of corresponding spectral class in the solar vicinity.  相似文献

The diffusion of electrons through interstellar space, and the energy dependence of the diffusion coefficient are considered. Apart from the caseD=const the spectral index for electrons with spectral index γ0 changes according to γ0+μ→γ0+½μ+½→γ0+1 (D(E)=D0(E/E0)μ) for μ<1; for μ>1 to γ0+1→γ0+½μ+½→γ0+μ. We consider the radio emission spectrum in such a case. From a comparison with observations the limit μ≤0.4 is obtained.  相似文献

Light curves of the long period RS CVn type eclipsing binary RZ Eri, obtained during the period 1976–1979 with the 1.2 m telescope of the Japal-Rangapur Observatory are analysed, using Wilson-Devinney method, by fixing the two parametersT h (7400°K) andq(0.963), resulting in the following absolute elements:A = 72.5 ± 1.4R ,R h = 2.84 ± 0.12R ,R c = 6.94 ± 0.20R ,M bol,h = 1.35 ± 0.28,M bol ,c= 1.41 ± 0.28,m h = 1.69 ± 0.6m andmc= 1.63 ± 0.13m . The presence of humps and dips of varying amplitudes at a few phases in the normal UBV light curves is explained as due to residual distortion wave. The derived (B-V) and (U-B) colours of both the components appear to have been reddened to an extent of 0 m .20 in (B-V) and 0 m .16 in (U-B) colours. This reddening is attributed to the presence of an envelope around the system, the material of which might have come from the loss of mass experienced by the evolving cooler component. Taking into consideration the dereddened colours and temperatures of the components, spectral types ofF0 IV for the primary and G 5–8 III–IV for the secondary component were derived. The fractional radii of 0.039 and 0.096 of the two components, when compared with the radii of their critical Roche lobes of 0.378 and 0.372 suggest that these components are well within their critical sizes. From the position of the components on the. isochrones and the evolutionary tracks of stars of Pop I composition computed by Maeder & Meynet, it is concluded that the evolution of the components of RZ Eri is abnormal. This system is found to be situated at a distance of 185 pc, with an age of about 2.5 × 109 yrs.  相似文献

We performed photoelectric observations of AS Cam in 2002–2004. Five new times of minima were obtained. Their positions are consistent with the previously found light equation for the system and with the hypothesis that the difference between the observed (15°/100 yr) and theoretical (44°/100 yr) rates of apsidal motion results from the presence of a third body in the system. A Fourier analysis of two observational data sets, 1968–1970 and 2002–2004, reveals, with a high significance, periodic light variations with a frequency of ω 0 = 1.0950 ± 0.0001d?1 and an amplitude of ~0 . m 020, which are probably caused by the radial pulsations of one of the components. We found a seasonal phase shift of these oscillations that may be produced by other periodic processes in the system. We show that the fairly large scatter of observed times of minima about the theoretical curve of the light equation can be explained by the presence of pulsations. Using the 2002 and 2004 observations as an example, we show that including the pulsations reduces this scatter.  相似文献

The results of quasi-simultaneous spectroscopic and photometric observations of a W UMatype eclipsing variable star AM Leo are presented. The observations were carried out with a 1.2-m telescope equipped with a high-resolution echelle spectrometer, and a telescope-reflector (D = 0.45m) of the Kourovka Astronomical Observatory of Ural Federal University. New values of semi-amplitudes of the radial velocity curves of the components, K1 = 109.6kms?1 and K2 = 252.4kms?1 and the systemic radial velocity V0 =-9.3 kms?1 are obtained, comparable to the data published in the literature. The semi-amplitude of the radial velocity curve of a more massive component K1 and the mass ratio of the components q = 0.412 appeared to be slightly smaller than the values obtained by other authors. An assumption wasmade that a possible reason of this is the presence of hot and/or cold spots on the surface of the components, shifting the effective center of brightness of the visible disk of the component with respect to its center of mass position. It was shown that the AM Leo light curve variations on the time scales of one and more days, registered within the photometric part of the study may be described by the choice of appropriate model of the spot structure.  相似文献

The 39 Laetitia asteroid was observed by the digital television complex at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in 2000 in three spectral bands close to B, V and R simultaneously. An analysis of the variations in the absolute magnitude shows that there is a known period of rotation P = 0.d214093. In variations of color indices B-V and V-R, this period is absent. Frequency analysis of color indices B-V and V-R makes it possible to reveal the true periods of rotation for components as follows: P 1 = 0.d237 and P 2 = 0.d177. The theoretical and observed period of librations agrees in value. Based on the two detected periods of rotation for asteroid components according to color indices B-V and V-R, a period of the libration of the satellite according to integral magnitude, we conclude that this asteroid is a binary one.  相似文献

Results of evolutionary calculations for a close binary system with a central helium burning He-star filling its Roche lobe and an accreting white dwarf are presented. Values for the mass of the components and the degree of central helium exhaustion before the filling of the Roche lobe are varied. It is shown that in such a system the mass accretion rate will remain for a long time (2–4) Ö 10–8 yr–1 ifq<1 (q=M He,2/M CO,1). The obtained results are discussed in connection with pre-supernova I phenomenon.  相似文献

The analysis of the UBV photoelectric study of the short period RS CVn eclipsing binary, UV Psc, has suggested that the primary is a transit with e=27°,i=88 . o 5, andk=0.75. The spectral type and luminosity of the hotter component is estimated to be G4-6V and that of the cooler component to be K0-2V. Absolute dimensions for the components of UV Psc were derived by combining the present analysis with that of the spectroscopic analysis given by Popper.The out-of-eclipse observations have showed large amount of scatter and an investigation of this showed that hotter component could be an intrinscic variable. The evaluation of the planetary Fourier spectrometer performance at Mars is presented by comparing an average spectrum with the ISO spectrum published by Lellouch et al. [2000. Planet. Space Sci. 48, 1393.]. First, the average conditions of Mars atmosphere are compared, then the mixing ratios of the major gases are evaluated. Major and minor bands of CO2 are compared, from the point of view of features characteristics and bands depth. The spectral resolution is also compared using several solar lines. The result indicates that PFS radiance is valid to better than 1% in the wavenumber range 1800-4200 cm−1 for the average spectrum considered (1680 measurements). The PFS monochromatic transfer function generates an overshooting on the left-hand side of strong narrow lines (solar or atmospheric). The spectral resolution of PFS is of the order of 1.3 cm−1 or better. A large number of narrow features to be identified are discovered.  相似文献

New times of light minimum of the short‐period (P = 0d.26) close binary system, VZ Psc, are presented. A period investigation of the binary star, by combining the three new eclipse times with the others collected from the literatures, shows that the variation of the period might be in an alternate way. Under the hypothesis that the variation of the orbital period is cyclic, a period of 25 years and an amplitude of 0.d0030 for the cyclic change are determined. If this periodic variation is caused by the presence of a third body, the mass of the third body (m3) should be no less than 0.081M. Since both components of VZ Psc are strong chromospherically active and the level of activity of the secondary component is higher than that of the primary one, the period may be more plausibly explained by cyclic magnetic activity of the less massive component. A complete astrophysical and dynamical study of the close visual binary system (CVBS) Finsen 350 (A7V + F0V), is presented. Beginning with the entire observational spectral energy distribution (SED) and the magnitude difference between the subcomponents, Al-Wardat’s complex method for analyzing CVBS was applied as a reverse method of building the individual and entire synthetic SEDs of the system. This was combined with Docobo’s analytic method to calculate the new orbits. Although possible short (approximately 9 years) and long period (of about 18 years) orbits could be considered taking into account the similar results of the stellar masses obtained for each of them (3.07 and 3.41 M , respectively), we confirmed that the short solution is correct. In addition, other physical, geometrical and dynamical parameters of this system such as the effective temperatures, surface gravity accelerations, absolute magnitudes, radii, the dynamical parallax, etc., are reported. The Main Sequence phase of both components with age around 0.79 Gyr is approved.  相似文献

Measurements of the solar X-ray spectrum between 3 Å and 15 Å are reported. They were made with two slitless Bragg crystal spectrometers flown on a Sun-pointed Skylark rocket on 8 August, 1967.The use of a beryl crystal has provided higher spectral resolution than hitherto in the spectral range 12 Å and 15 Å leading, in particular, to a revised identification of the strong line at 13.71 Å. Separate components of the stronger emission lines are clearly seen from each of three coronal active regions which may be identified on radio and X-ray spectroheliograms.The absolute line fluxes are used to determine a model for each active region in terms of the differential emission measure as a function of electron temperature. Emission lines due to the transition 1s 2 1 S 0 – 1s2s 3 S 1 in several helium-like ions are identified and values of the local electron density derived from measurement of the line flux in these ions.  相似文献
