In this paper we construct and analyze the uniform non-LTE distributions of the aluminium ([Al/Fe]-[Fe/H]) and sodium ([Na/Fe]-[Fe/H]) abundances in the sample of 160 stars of the disk and halo of our Galaxy with metallicities within ?4.07 ≤ [Fe/H] ≤ 0.28. The values of metallicity [Fe/H] and microturbulence velocity ξ turb indices are determined from the equivalent widths of the Fe II and Fe I lines. We estimated the sodium and aluminium abundances using a 21-level model of the Na I atom and a 39-level model of the Al I atom. The resulting LTE distributions of [Na/Fe]-[Fe/H] and [Al/Fe]-[Fe/H] do not correspond to the theoretical predictions of their evolution, suggesting that a non-LTE approach has to be applied to determine the abundances of these elements. The account of non-LTE corrections reduces by 0.05–0.15 dex the abundances of sodium, determined from the subordinate lines in the stars of the disk with [Fe/H] ≥ ?2.0, and by 0.05–0.70 dex (with a strong dependence on metallicity) the abundances of [Na/Fe], determined by the resonance lines in the stars of the halo with [Fe/H] ≤ ?2.0. The non-LTE corrections of the aluminium abundances are strictly positive and increase from 0.0–0.1 dex for the stars of the thin disk (?0.7 ≤ [Fe/H] ≤ 0.28) to 0.03–0.3 dex for the stars of the thick disk (?1.5 ≤ [Fe/H] ≤ ?0.7) and 0.06–1.2 dex for the stars of the halo ([Fe/H] ≤ ?2.0). The resulting non-LTE abundances of [Na/Fe] reveal a scatter of individual values up to Δ[Na/Fe] = 0.4 dex for the stars of close metallicities. The observed non-LTE distribution of [Na/Fe]-[Fe/H] within 0.15 dex coincides with the theoretical distributions of Samland and Kobayashi et al. The non-LTE aluminium abundances are characterized by a weak scatter of values (up to Δ[Al/Fe] = 0.2 dex) for the stars of all metallicities. The constructed non-LTE distribution of [Al/Fe]-[Fe/H] is in a satisfactory agreement to 0.2 dex with the theoretical data of Kobayashi et al., but strongly differs (up to 0.4 dex) from the predictions of Samland.  相似文献

Spectral types (M4–M6), effective temperatures T ef (2700–2900 K), and free fall accelerations logg (4.0–4.5) are determined for five M dwarfs using their energy distributions in the spectral range λλ = 680…840 nm. Stellar spectra with resolutions R = 4000 were obtained using the IMACS spectrograph mounted on the ESO Walter Baade 6.5-m telescope. The spectral types are derived from spectral indices and the effective temperatures of the stars are estimated based on their spectral types. Values of T ef and logg are also derived from the comparison between the observed and theoretical energy distributions, calculated both for dust-free, standard NextGen model atmospheres of red dwarfs, and for semiempirical models considering the presence of dust in stellar atmospheres according to the technique developed by Pavlenko et al. We determine dust parameters for stellar atmospheres of these stars, and establish that it is necessary to account for the decrease in concentration of TiO molecules due to their condensation on dust grains, when T ef < 3000 K. We conclude that the radiation scattering by dust grains does not have an appreciable effect on energy distributions in the spectra of the considered stars.  相似文献

We analyze the temperature dependence of the abundances of the chemical elements Si, Ca, Cr, and Fe in the atmospheres of normal, metallic-line (Am), magnetic peculiar (Ap), and pulsating magnetic peculiar (roAp) stars in the range 6000–15000 K. The Cr and Fe abundances in the atmospheres of Ap stars increase rapidly as the temperature rises from 6000 to 9000–10000 K. Subsequently, the Cr abundance decreases to values that exceed the solar abundance by an order of magnitude, while the Fe abundance remains enhanced by approximately +1.0 dex compared to the solar value. The temperature dependence of the abundances of these elements in the atmospheres of normal and Am stars is similar in shape, but its maximum is several orders of magnitude lower than that observed for Ap stars. In the range 6000–9500 K, the observed temperature dependences for Ap stars are satisfactorily described in terms of element diffusion under the combined action of gravitational settling and radiative acceleration. It may well be that diffusion also takes place in the atmospheres of normal stars, but its efficiency is very low due to the presence of microturbulence. We show that the magnetic field has virtually no effect on the Cr and Fe diffusion in Ap stars in the range of effective temperatures 6000–9500 K. The Ca abundance and its variation in the atmospheres of Ap stars can also be explained in terms of the diffusion model if we assume the existence of a stellar wind with a variable moderate rate of ~(2–4) × 10? 15M yr?1.  相似文献

A slitless UBVR spectrograph has been built for use on small telescopes. Test observations on the Zeiss-600 telescope at the Terskol peak demonstrated that the spectrograph is an efficient instrument for studying high-speed processes in variable stars with a high temporal resolution. The spectrograph resolving power R ≈ 100 in the vicinity of λ = 480 nm and the error in the determination of the wavelength is approximately 3 nm. The spectrograph provides a moderate signal-to-noise ratio for stars up to 16 m . It permits one to measure equivalent widths of unblended lines down to 0.1 nm. The developed special software based on the theory of quantum statistics makes it possible to detect relative variations in the spectrum of approximately 10?5–10?6 of the bolometric flux of the star. Observations with the spectrograph made it possible to detect variations of emissions in Balmer lines and Ca II H, K lines in the EV Lac flare star in the subsecond range. The spectroscopic monitoring permits one to study stellar flares with small amplitude, to carry out a comprehensive colorimetric analysis of flare plasma, and to determine temperatures and sizes of flares in the light intensity maximum. Observations of the transit of the HAT-P-1 B exoplanet demonstrate that the chromospheric activity power of the parent star does not vary during the transit. The slitless spectrograph with a low resolving capacity opens new prospects in studying active processes occurring on stars’ surfaces.  相似文献

The limb darkening and center-to-limb variation of the continuum polarization is calculated for a grid of one-dimensional stellar model atmospheres and for a wavelength range between 300 and 950 nm. Model parameters match those of the transiting stars taken from the NASA exoplanet archive. The limb darkening of the continuum radiation for these stars is shown to decrease with the rise in their effective temperature. For the λ = 370 nm wavelength, which corresponds to the maximum of the Johnson–Cousins UX filter, the limb darkening values of the planet transiting stars lie in a range between 0.03 and 0.3. The continuum linear polarization depends not only on the effective temperature of the star but also on its gravity and metallicity. Its value decreases for increasing values of these parameters. In the UX band, the maximum linear polarization of stars with transiting planets amounts to 4%, while the minimum value is approximately 0.3%. The continuum limb darkening and the linear polarization decrease rapidly with wavelength. At the R band maximum (λ = 700 nm), the linear polarization close to the limb is in fact two orders of magnitude smaller than in the UX band. The center- to-limb variation of the continuum intensity and the linear polarization of the stars with transiting planets can be approximated, respectively, by polynomials of the fourth and the sixth degree. The coefficients of the polynomials, as well as the IDL procedures for reading them, are available in electronic form. It is shown that there are two classes of stars with high linear polarization at the limb. The first one consists of cold dwarfs. Their typical representatives are HATS-6, Kepler-45, as well as all the stars with similar parameters. The second class of stars includes hotter giants and subgiants. Among them we have CoRoT-28, Kepler-91, and the group of stars with effective temperatures and gravities of approximately 5000 K and 3.5, respectively.  相似文献

Spectroscopic observations of four planetary nebulae (PNe) with emission-line central stars of different spectral types are presented: Cn 1-5, Pe 1-1, NGC 5873, and M1-19. The interstellar extinction, physical conditions (n e , T e ), and abundances of several elements (He, N, O, Ne, S, Ar, Cl) have been determined for all nebulae. The nebula Cn 1–5 with fairly high abundances of helium and nitrogen is shown to belong to type I PNe. Possible variability of the intensities of low-excitation emission lines in NGC 5873 has been found; it can be related to variations of the stellar wind from the central star. The measured α-element abundance ratios (S/O, Ne/O, Ar/O, Cl/O) are in good agreement with those typical of HII regions.  相似文献

We study the evolution of elemental abundances in an ensemble of Galactic planetary nebulae as a function of the masses of the central stars (M cs) and their progenitors (M ini). We derive the dependences of the C, N, Ne, Cl, Ar, and S abundances on M cs and M ini for a large sample of nebulae. We calculate the theoretical elemental abundances in nebulae under the assumption of complete mixing of the progenitor’s matter ejected at different stages of its evolution. The theoretical dependences of the C and N abundances on M ini have been found to correspond to the observed ones. At the same time, the observed mean O abundance is approximately half its theoretical value. The Ne, Cl, Ar, and S abundances monotonically increase with increasing mass of the progenitor star, which reflects an increase in the mean abundances of heavy elements during the chemical evolution of the Galaxy. We have derived the relation between the abundances of the elements under consideration in planetary nebulae and the masses of their central stars. This relation is used to construct the mass function for the nuclei of planetary nebulae.  相似文献

The 18O(p,α)15N reaction influences the isotopes production such as 19F, 18O, and 15N which can be used to test the models of stellar evolution. 19F is synthesized in both asymptotic giant branch (AGB) and metal-rich Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars. Using R-matrix theory we allow new values of resonances parameters in 19F. We show that the most important contribution to the differential and total cross section at low energies, comes from the levels in 19F situated at resonances energies E R =151, 680 and 840 keV with spin and parity 1/2+. The total width of the 680 keV resonance is badly known. So, we have focused on this broad resonance corresponding to the 8.65 MeV level in 19F. We delimit the temperature range in which each resonance contribution to the total reaction rate occurs by analyzing the ratio (N A σν i /N A σν〉). This allowed us to show that the 680 and 840 keV broad resonances strongly dominate the reaction rate over the stellar temperature range T 9=0.02–0.06 and T 9=0.5–5. Finally, these results were compared to NACRE and Iliadis astrophysical compilations.  相似文献

The results of spectroscopic observations made with the NES echelle spectrograph of the 6-m BTA telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the wavelength interval of 3550–5100 Å with a spectral resolution of R≥50000 are used to determine the fundamental parameters and atmospheric abundances of more than 20 chemical elements including heavy s- and r-process elements from Sr to Dy for a total of 14 metal-poor G-K-type stars. The abundances of Mg, Al, Sr, and Ba were calculated with non-LTE line-formation effects accounted for. The inferred overabundance of europium with respect to iron agrees with the results obtained for the stars of similar metallicity. The chemical composition of the star BD+80°245 located far from the Galactic plane is typical of stars of the accreted halo: this star exhibits, in addition to the over-deficiency of α-process elements, also the over-deficiency of the γ-process element Ba: [Ba/Fe]= ?1.46. The kinematical parameters and chemical composition imply that the stars studied belong to different Galactic populations. The abundance of the long-living element Th relative to that of the r-process element Eu is determined for six stars using the synthetic-spectrum method.  相似文献

We present the results of our observations of eight magnetic Herbig Ae/Be stars obtained with the X‐shooter spectrograph mounted on UT2 at the VLT. X‐shooter provides a simultaneous, medium‐resolution and high‐sensitivity spectrum over the entire wavelength range from 300 to 2500 nm. We estimate the mass accretion rates (acc) of the targets from 13 different spectral diagnostics using empiric calibrations derived previously for T Tauri‐type stars and brown dwarfs. We have estimated the mass accretion rates of our targets, which range from 2 × 10–9 to 2 × 10–7 M yr–1. Furthermore, we have found accretion rate variability with amplitudes of 0.10–0.40 dex taking place on time scales from one day to tens of days. Additional future night‐to‐night observations need to be carried out to investigate the character of acc variability in details. Our study shows that the majority of the calibration relations can be applied to Herbig Ae/Be stars, but several of them need to be re‐calibrated on the basis of new spectral data for a larger number of Herbig Ae/Be stars (© 2012 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Study of curve of growth abundance determinations is performed for the method of weighting functions. We evaluated abundances of iron for 15 stars changing their effective temperatures and gravities within the mean error of determination of these parameters, i.e.θ eff ± 0.05θ eff and logg ± 0.5. Wide range of spectral types of stars taken into account, permits analysis of accuracy of abundance determinations for large part of H-R diagram. The results prove, that in spite of using the most accurate method of curve of growth analysis, the accuracy of abundance determination (due to errors inT eff and log g) is sometimes very small (in extreme cases not better than 0.4 dex) and the value of accuracy is connected with of spectral types of stars.  相似文献

In the previous years, p-mode oscillations (pressure oscillations stochastically excited by convection) have been detected in several solar-like stars thanks to the ground-based spectroscopic and space spectroscopic and photometric observations. We study the importance of seismic constraints on stellar modeling and the impact of their accuracy on reducing the uncertainties of global stellar parameters (i.e. mass, age, etc.). We use the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) method to analyze the sensitivity of stellar models to seismic constraints. In this context, we construct a grid of evolutionary sequences for solar-like stars with varying age and mass. Around each model of this grid, we evaluate the partial derivatives with respect to a large set of free parameters: mass ?, age τ, mixing-length parameter α, initial helium abundance Y 0, and initial metallicity Z/X 0. Masses between 0.9 and 1.55 M and central hydrogen abundances from Xc=0.7 to 0.05 have been considered in this study.  相似文献

Spectroscopic observations of the DQ Her-type Nova V705 Cas in the wavelength range Hγ-7400 Å at the nebular stage are presented. The Balmer decrement yields E B–V =0.98. Based on statistical relationships, we estimated E B–V to be 0.7 and the distance to the Nova to be 1.17 kpc. The discrepancy between the estimates of E B–V may result from circumstellar reddening after the formation of a dust shell. The helium, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, iron, and calcium abundances in the Nova shell are determined. The shell of V705 Cas is similar in chemical composition to those of other DQ Her-type novae.  相似文献

We present a detailed investigation of X-ray source contents of eight young open clusters with ages between 4 to 46 Myr using archival X-ray data from XMM-Newton. The probable cluster memberships of the X-ray sources have been established on the basis of multi-wavelength archival data, and samples of 152 pre-main sequence (PMS) low mass (<2M ), 36 intermediate mass (2–10M ) and 16 massive (>10M ) stars have been generated. X-ray spectral analyses of high mass stars reveal the presence of high temperature plasma with temperature <2 keV, and mean L X/L bol of 10???6.9. In the case of PMS low mass stars, the plasma temperatures have been found to be in the range of 0.2 keV to 3 keV with a median value of ~1.3 keV, with no significant difference in plasma temperatures during their evolution from 4 to 46 Myr. The X-ray luminosity distributions of the PMS low mass stars have been found to be similar in the young star clusters under study. This may suggest a nearly uniform X-ray activity in the PMS low mass stars of ages ~4–14 Myr. These observed values of L X/L bol are found to have a mean value of 10??3.6±0.4, which is below the X-ray saturation level. The L X/L bol values for the PMS low mass stars are well correlated with their bolometric luminosities, that implies its dependence on the internal structure of the low mass stars. The difference between the X-ray luminosity distributions of the intermediate mass stars and the PMS low mass stars has not been found to be statistically significant. Their L X/L bol values, however have been found to be significantly different from each other with a confidence level greater than 99.999% and the strength of X-ray activity in the intermediate mass stars is found to be lower compared to the low mass stars. However, the possibility of X-ray emission from the intermediate mass stars due to a low mass star in close proximity of the intermediate mass star can not be ruled out.  相似文献

Mass is a fundamental parameter, but the masses are not well known for most hot subdwarfs. We propose a method of determining the masses of hot subdwarfs. Using this method, we studied the masses of hot subdwarfs from the ESO supernova Ia progenitor survey and the Hamburg quasar survey. The study shows that most of the subdwarf B stars have masses between 0.42 and 0.54 M , whilst most sdO stars are in the range 0.40~0.55 M . Comparing our study to the theoretical mass distributions of Han et al. (Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 341:669, 2003), we found that sdO stars with mass less than ~0.5 M may evolve from sdB stars, whilst most high-mass (>0.5 M ) sdO stars result from mergers directly.  相似文献

Studies in extragalactic astronomy, galactic structure and the late stages of stellar evolution provide ample motivation for surveys of fields in the Galactic Halo. Apart from white dwarfs, blue stars had been regarded as luminous objects confined to star-forming regions in the Galactic Plane; finding them at high galactic latitudes attracted immediate interest, because their luminosities were intermediate between those of white dwarfs and blue Main Sequence stars. The study of blue stars away from the Galactic Plane was initiated by Greenstein; in due course effective temperatures (T e ff), surface gravities (log g) and abundances showed these stars form what appeared to be a blue extension of the known Horizontal Branch (HB) in the Hertzsprung–Russell Diagram. Extended Horizontal Branch (EHB) stars were identified with Extreme Horizontal Branch stars in globular clusters. It was realised that HB and EHB stars must have formed as a consequence of mass-loss on the Giant Branch, either at or before the helium flash. Mass-loss on the Giant Branch leading to the formation of EHB stars was considered more likely for stars in binary systems. The scene was then set for three decades of EHB star research.  相似文献

Zero-age main-sequence models for stars of 20, 10, 5 and 2M with no heavy elements are constructed for three different possible primordial helium abundances:Y=0.00,Y=0.23, andY=0.30. The latter two values ofY bracket the range of primordial helium abundances cited by Wagoner. With the exceptions of the two 20M models that contain helium, these models are found to be self-consistent in the sense that the formation of carbon through the triple-alpha process during pre-main sequence contraction is not sufficient to bring the CN cycle into competition with the proton-proton chain on the ZAMS. The zero-metal models of the present study have higher surface and central temperatures, higher central densities, smaller radii, and smaller convective cores than do the population I models with the same masses. If galaxies containing the zero-metal stars were formed as recently as one third the Hubble time, they would likely appear very blue today — perhaps bluer even that most known quasars — and their redshifted effective temperatures could range as high as 3×104 K to 4×104 K.  相似文献

The results of a spectrophotometric study of 13 carbon stars in the wavelength range from 4000 Å to 6800 Å with 2.75 Å resolution are given. The observed energy distributions for these stars relative to the flux at λ0 = 5556 Å, represented in graphic form, were determined. Their color temperatures were determined from the [5710] ? [6680] color index. A dust shell is assumed to exist around U Cyg. The indices of the C2’ MS, and CaCl molecular bands and the D2,1 line were also determined.  相似文献

We have performed non-LTE calculations for O I with a multilevel model atom using currently available atomic data for a set of parameters corresponding to stars of spectral types from A to K. Departures from LTE lead to a strengthening of O I lines, and the difference between the non-LTE and LTE abundances (non-LTE correction) is negative. The non-LTE correction does not exceed 0.05 dex in absolute value for visible O I lines for main-sequence stars in the entire temperature range. For the infrared O I 7771 Å line, the non-LTE correction can reach ?1.9 dex. The departures from LTE are enhanced with increasing temperature and decreasing surface gravity. We have derived the oxygen abundance for three A-type mainsequence stars with reliably determined parameters (Vega, Sirius, HD 32115). For each of the stars, allowance for the departures from LTE leads to a decrease in the difference between the abundances from infrared and visible lines, for example, for Vega from 1.17 dex in LTE to 0.14 dex when abandoning LTE. In the case of Procyon and the Sun, inelastic collisions with HI affect the statistical equilibrium of OI, and agreement between the abundances from different lines is achieved when using Drawin’s classical formalism. Based on the O I 6300, 6158, 7771-5, and 8446 Å lines of the solar spectrum, we have derived the mean oxygen abundance log ? = 8.74 ± 0.05 using a classical plane-parallel model solar atmosphere and log ? +3D = 8.78 ± 0.03 by applying the 3D corrections taken from the literature.  相似文献

The hot subdwarf B (sdB) stars are considered to be core He-burning stars with surface temperatures T eff up to 40?000 K and log?g≥5. They are UV bright and ultraviolet observatories have a significant impact on studies of these objects. Using the technical characteristics of the instruments of the World Space Observatory–Ultraviolet (WSO–UV) mission and data from previous UV studies of sdBs we estimate the limiting apparent magnitudes for these stars that can be observed with the signal-to-noise ratio required in fine spectroscopic analysis. WSO–UV is an international space observatory for observation in UV spectral range 100–350 nm, that is beyond the reach of ground-based instruments but where most of astrophysical processes can be efficiently studied with unprecedented capability. The WSO–UV project is currently funded by national space agencies of Russia and Spain with participation of Germany, Ukraine and China. The WSO–UV consists of a 1.7 m aperture telescope (under responsibility of Russia) with instrumentation designed to carry out high resolution spectroscopy, long-slit low resolution spectroscopy and direct sky imaging. The WSO–UV Ground Segment is under development by Spain and Russia. They will coordinate the Mission and Science Operations and provide the satellite tracking stations for the project. The WSO–UV will work as a targeted scientific observatory. The scientific program of the observatory is open to excellent scientific projects from the world-wide community and occupies up to 40% of total observational time.  相似文献
