使用currentBATSE catakog中的一部分数据,定义了2个分别反映γ射线暴的能谱形和光变曲线的物理量FR和TR,同时对它们的分布作了统计分析,发现对于两类不同的γ射线暴,它们的分布存在统计上的较为明显的差异。这意味着两类暴可能产生于不同的辐射区域,两类暴的暴源可能有本质的差异,这些结果支持了把γ射线暴分为长暴和短暴的分类方法。  相似文献

We discuss some commonly used methods for determining the significance of peaks in the periodograms of time series. We review methods for constructing the classical significance tests, their corresponding false alarm probability functions and the role played in these by independent random variables and by empirical and theoretical cumulative distribution functions. We discuss the concepts of independent frequencies and oversampling in periodogram analysis. We then compare the results of new Monte Carlo simulations for evenly spaced time series with results obtained previously by other authors, and present the results of Monte Carlo simulations for a specific unevenly spaced time series obtained for V403 Car.  相似文献

We consider the production of high energy neutrinos and cosmic rays in radio-quiet active galactic nuclei (AGN) or in the central regions of radio-loud AGN. We use a model in which acceleration of protons takes place at a shock in an accretion flow onto a supermassive black hole, and follow the cascade that results from interactions of the accelerated protons in the AGN environment. We use our results to estimate the diffuse high energy neutrino intensity and cosmic ray intensity due to AGN. We discuss our results in the context of high energy neutrino telescopes under construction, and measurements of the cosmic ray composition in the region of the “knee” in the energy spectrum at 107 GeV.  相似文献

We discuss specific properties of dynamical systems originating from cosmology and relativity. In particular, we present results of our study of the Bianchi class A cosmological models. We introduce new variables in which the Hamiltonian constraint for all the class A models is solved algebraically. We present results of dimension reduction of the investigated models. When one interplanetary shock overtakes another, the structure that results depends upon the nature of the interacting shocks. We examine, numerically, the results of collisions of forward with reverse shocks, in two dimensions, and show that the results depend primarily upon shock strength. We also note that such interactions could explain why many energy outbursts on the Sun that would be expected to cause geomagnetic effects at Earth, do not.  相似文献

基于离散小波变换(DWT)方法,提出了一种可用于计算三维数值模拟样本面密度的平滑算法.为检验方法的有效性,利用该算法研究了两组不同质量解析度的引力透镜数值模拟样本,样本采用了暗物质晕的等温椭球模型,使用蒙特卡罗方法生成.计算结果表明此算法能够在很高的精度上构建引力透镜模拟样本的面密度分布轮廓,由面密度计算出来的透镜的临界曲线和焦散曲线也能较好地和理论曲线吻合,结果是令人满意的.同时比较了三组不同的小波基的计算结果,包括Daub4,Daub6和B-spline 3th,给出了最优的选择.在不损失平滑效果的同时,此算法具有非常高的速度,非常适合于处理以后更高精度的N体数值模拟.  相似文献

We present the results of a search for ultracompact dwarf galaxies (UCDs) in six different galaxy groups: Dorado, NGC 1400, 0681, 4038, 4697 and 5084. We searched in the apparent magnitude range  17.5 ≤ b J≤ 20.5  (except NGC 5084:  19.2 ≤ b J≤ 21.0  ). We found one definite plus two possible UCD candidates in the Dorado group and two possible UCD candidates in the NGC 1400 group. No UCDs were found in the other groups. We compared these results with predicted luminosities of UCDs in the groups according to the hypothesis that UCDs are globular clusters formed in galaxies. The theoretical predictions broadly agree with the observational results, but deeper surveys are needed to fully test the predictions.  相似文献

We compare the results of our series of fine analyses based on Dominion Astrophysical Observatory long camera coudé spectra with those of the same stars from the series of automated elemental abundance analyses by Hill (1995) and by Erspamer and North (2003). We usually find good agreement with the results of the first paper for those elements with well-determined abundances and somewhat poorer agreement with results of the second paper.  相似文献

We develop a semi-numerical perturbation method for problems with two critical arguments. We apply it to a truncated model of the restricted, elliptic three body problem in case of a resonance 2/1 We identify regions of the phase space where chaotic motion is expected because of the presence of homoclinic orbits. One of these regions, the largest one, sits at the entrance to the resonance zone and is associated with a 2/1 resonance between the two critical arguments. We study galactic cosmic ray (GCR) modulation during solar cycle 24. For this study we utilize neutron monitor data together with sunspot number (SSN) and 10.7 cm solar radio flux (SRF) data. We plot hysteresis curve between the GCR intensity and SSN, and GCR intensity and SRF. We performed time-lag correlation analysis to determine the time lag between GCR intensity and solar activity parameters. The time lag is determined not only for the whole solar cycle, but also during the two polarity states of the heliosphere (A<0 and A>0) in solar cycle 24. We notice differences in time lags during two polarity epochs of the solar cycle. We discuss these differences in the light of existing modulation models. We compare the results of this very weak solar activity cycle with the corresponding results reported for the previous comparatively more active solar cycles.  相似文献

We present a two-component supernova remnant model for the case of Magellanic remnant DEM L316 obtained from two-dimensional, axisymmetric hydrodynamic simulations. We study different scenarios which consider a possible collision between the shells and also the effects of thermal conduction. Synthetic X-ray maps were obtained from numerical results in order to directly compare with the observed morphology of this object. We find a good agreement is achieved when thermal conduction is included, reproducing both the observed morphology and the total X-ray luminosity very well. Finally, our results suggest that the two components of DEM L316 are not in physical interaction.  相似文献

We present the results of detailed spectroscopic abundance analyses for 18 elements in 31 nearby stars with planets (SWPs). The resulting abundances are combined with other similar studies of nearby SWPs and compared to a sample of nearby stars without detected planets. We find some evidence for abundance differences between these two samples for Al, Si and Ti. Some of our results are in conflict with a recent study of SWPs in the SPOCS data base. We encourage continued study of the abundance patterns of SWPs to resolve these discrepancies.  相似文献

We develop a formalism to calculate energy-dependent fractional variability (rms) in accretion flows. We consider rms spectra resulting from radial dependences of the level of local variability (as expected from the propagation of disturbances in accretion flows) assuming the constant shape of the spectrum emitted at a given radius. We consider the cases when the variability of the flow is either coherent or incoherent between different radial zones. As an example of local emission, we consider blackbody, Wien and thermal Comptonization spectra. In addition to numerical results, we present a number of analytical formulae for the resulting rms. We also find an analytical formula for the disc Wien spectrum, which we find to be a very good approximation to the disc blackbody. We compare our results to the rms spectrum observed in an ultrasoft state of GRS 1915+105.  相似文献

We present the preliminary results of the astronomical site testing, which the group IATE of the OAC is developing in northwest of Argentine in collaboration with ESO and the Department of Astronomy of Cornell University. We show the results, which we have obtained from the analysis of GOES 8 satellite images in the 10.7 μm band, which allowed us to configurate a map of clear sky regions in an area between 23° and 28° S, and 66° 30′ and 69° W. We also comment logistical and tectonic aspects, and discuss next steps to follow in the research.  相似文献

Here we present results from simulations of turbulence in star forming environments obtained by coupling three-dimensional hydrodynamical models with appropriate chemical processes. We investigate regimes of decaying high-speed molecular turbulence. Here we analyse PDFs of density for the volume, mass, molecular mass and the energy distribution over the range of scales. We compare our results to those previously obtained for isothermal turbulence and suggest possible explanations.  相似文献

We propose a new method for the extraction of rotation measures from spectral polarization data. The method is based on maximum likelihood analysis and takes into account the circular nature of the polarization data. The method is unbiased and statistically more efficient than the standard χ 2 procedure. We also find that the method is computationally much more convenient than the standard χ 2 procedure if the number of data points is very large. We find that for most sources the method gives results very close to the standard χ 2 minimization procedure. We give results for all the cases for which the method gives significantly different results from χ 2 minimization. We also make a λ 3 fit to the data in order to extract non-Faraday rotation behaviour for those sources for which a large number of data points are available.  相似文献

We derive three different solutions in the framework of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR). We apply the energy-momentum tensor to calculate energy, irreducible mass, spatial momentum and angular-momentum associated with these solutions. We obtain anomalous physical results therefore, we calculate the Killing vectors using the definition of the Lie derivative.  相似文献

Abstract— We review the results of our recent experimental studies of astrophysical dust analogs. We discuss the condensation of amorphous silicates from mixed metal vapors, including evidence that such condensates form with metastable eutectic compositions. We consider the spectral evolution of amorphous magnesium silicate condensates as a function of time and temperature. Magnesium silicate smokes anneal readily at temperatures of about 1000–1100 K. In contrast we find that iron silicates require much higher temperatures (?1300 K) to bring about similar changes on the same timescale (days to months). We first apply these results to infrared space observatory observations of crystalline magnesium silicate grains around high‐mass‐outflow asymptotic giant branch stars in order to demonstrate their general utility in a rather simple environment. Finally, we apply these experimental results to infrared observations of comets and protostars in order to derive some interesting conclusions regarding large‐scale nebular dynamics, the natural production of organic molecules in protostellar nebulae, and the use of crystalline magnesium silicates as a relative indicator of a comet's formation age.  相似文献
