Stresses and effective viscosities in the asthenosphere to a depth of 400 km are calculated on the basis of Weertmans “temperature method” i.e., on relating viscosity to the ratio of the temperature to the melting point (=homologous temperature). Some oceanic and continental geotherms and two melting point—depth curves, the dry pyrolite solidus and the forsterite90 melting curve are used for the conversion of the homologous temperature to the effective viscosity. Two creep laws are considered, the linear, grain-size-dependent Nabarro—Herring (NH) creep law, and a power creep law, in which the creep rate is proportional to the third power of the stress. A plate tectonic model yields creep rates of 2 · 10−14 s−1 for the oceanic and 3 · 10−15 s−1 for the continental asthenosphere. These values are held constant for the calculations and may be valid for regions inside plates. The dry pyrolite mantle model results in high homologous temperatures in the asthenosphere below oceans (0.9), very low stresses (a few bars and lower) and shows a low viscosity “layer” of about 200-km thickness. Below continental shields the homologous temperature has a maximum value of 0.73, stresses are around 5–20 bar and the low-viscosity region is thicker and less pronounced than in the oceanic case. The Fo90 mantle model generally gives lower homologous temperatures (maximum value below oceans beside active ridges 0.75). The stresses in the asthenosphere beneath oceans vary from a few bars to about 50 bar and below continents to about 100 bar. The low-viscosity region seems to reach great depths without forming a “channel”. The Figs. 1 and 2 show the approximate viscosity—depth distribution for the two mantle models under study.Assuming a completely dry mantle and a mean grain size of 5 mm, power law creep will be the dominating creep process in the asthenosphere. However, grains may grow in a high-temperature—low-stress regime (i.e., below younger oceans), an effect which will further diminish the influence of NH creep. In the upper 100–150 km of the earth some fluid phases may affect considerably creep processes.  相似文献

Based on the strong heat flow in the Archaean and Proterozoic a concept for dynamical processes is developed that agrees with observation of low and high pressure metamorphism in ensialic belt of the Precambrian in Scandinavia and other old shield areas. Heat release is considered to have taken place predominantly at fast spreading oceanic ridges, some of them certainly adjacent to continental margins. Thinner, warmer, lighter, and faster oceanic plates descended with very small dip below the continent, leading to an underplating, to a decrease of the continental thermal gradient, and to a compressive stress with the tendency to keep the growing Archaean supercontinent together. Ensialic belts may have partly been created by a shallow secondary back-arc creep pattern. The general decrease of heat production and heat release continuously slowed all creep processes. At around 1000 ± 300 Ma, oceanic plates must have reached critical values of thickness, weight, and density to perform a real steep angle subduction, reinforced by sediment loads and phase transition at depth. A well developed plate tectonic pattern with an opening and closing of the lapetus ocean, with subduction, and a subsequent continent-continent collision can be inferred for the forming of the Caledonian-Appalachian mountain range. Even today, dynamical movements at asthenospheric levels below Fennoscandia are still present as indicated by observations of seismic travel time residuals, deep seismic soundings, gravity, compressive stresses, and theoretical calculations of temperature and viscosity.  相似文献

Zealandia was once located at the active Gondwana margin and experienced complicated tectonic evolution from continental breakup to subduction and oblique slipping along the plate boundary. Here, we investigate the lithospheric thermal and rheological properties via spatial variations in effective elastic thickness (Te). Using the topography, sediment thickness and gravity data, the fan wavelet coherence method is employed to recover Te values. The effects of dynamic topography and gravity in the subduction zone on the estimated Te are considered and removed. The final results reveal that the Te variation pattern generally coincides well with the tectonic regimes. Relatively high Te values up to 22 km are observed in North Island and the southernmost part of South Island, while central and northern South Island are dominated by smaller Te values (~15 km) similar to those of the surrounding submerged plateaus. We interpret the relatively high Te values as indicating the combined lithospheric strength due to the contacting plates in the subduction zone. To the north along the Tonga-Kermadec subduction zone, the lithosphere surprisingly exhibits anomalously high Te values, ranging from 22 to 36 km, which contradicts the geological evidence of normal faults developed in the incoming Pacific Plate and the magmatism in the overlying Australian Plate that generally contribute to low lithospheric strength. We speculate that the high-Te zone is related to the large bathymetry and gravity anomalies in the bending plate and controlled by non-isostatic factors. Finally, we find widespread low Te values covering the entire arcs and oceanic basins in northern Zealandia, which may indicate that regional lithospheric thinning associated with delamination weakened the integrated strength of the lithosphere.  相似文献

The proposed methods for estimating two free energy partitioning parameters of a one site-two site model have been specifically developed for cases where data are few or inconveniently grouped and utilize pairs of values of the mole fractions of the partitioned species A in the multi-site phase (XAT) and the single site phase (XAm). Where (XAT) exceeds 0.7 the mod may become unstable such that small changes in the distribution curve gradient result in large changes in the evaluated intracrystalline exchange free energy. Such behaviour is exemplified by data from the system olivine-orthopyroxene.  相似文献

High temperature creep of single crystal gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG) was studied in the temperature range of 1723–1853 K (0.86–0.94 Tm, Tm: melting temperature) and strain rate from 9 · 10?7 s?1 to 2 · 10?5 s?1. The compression tests were made along the 〈100〉 and 〈111〉 orientations. We have performed both constant strain-rate and stress-dip tests. For the 〈100〉 orientation, deformation occurs via the 〈111〉 slip systems. For the 〈111〉 orientation, both the 〈100〉 {010} and the 〈111〉 slip systems can be activated. GGG garnet is very strong under these conditions: σ/μ=(1–3)×10?3 (σ: creep strength, μ: shear modulus). The creep behavior is characterized by a power law with stress exponent n=2.9–3.3 and high activation energies E*=612–743 kJ/mol (E*~45×RTm, at zero stress which decrease with the increase of stress). Stress-dip tests suggest a small internal stress (σi/σ~0.62; σi: internal stress, σ: applied stress) compared to other materials. These results suggest that the high creep strength of GGG is mainly due to difficulty of dislocation glide rather than dislocation climb.  相似文献

The history of the Vendian–Early Paleozoic formation of protoliths of continental crust in the Gorny Altai segment of the Central Asian fold belt is considered, and their composition, isotopic characteristics, and formation mechanisms are estimated. We have established two stages of crust-forming processes in Gorny Altai: Early and Late Caledonian, with the different structures of formed geoblocks and nature and compositions of crustal protoliths. At the Early Caledonian stage, fragments of oceanic lithosphere of basic composition (MORB, OIT, OIB) (TNd(DM-2st) = 0.65–1.1 Ga) formed, as well as island arcs with andesite-basaltic and andesitic protoliths with low contents of incompatible elements (TNd(DM-2st) = 0.7–0.9 Ga). At the Late Caledonian stage, the redistribution of the substance of these blocks and the external supply of material led to the formation of heterogeneous crust of turbidite basins with an oceanic basement and andesite-dacitic upper-crustal protoliths (TNd(DM-2st) varies from 0.8–0.9 Ga in the framing of the volcanic arc of Altaids to 1.4–1.6 Ga at the boundary of the Altai–Mongolian microcontinent).  相似文献

Sheath folds are highly non-cylindrical folds occurring in a variety of geological settings, and have been studied using different approaches. With the present work, we provide a quantitative analysis of the generation and development of sheath folds in a viscously layered system in simple shear conditions. The sheath folds develop from an initial non-cylindrical deflection located on the highly viscous layer. The analogue experiments investigated the influence of (1) variations in the viscosity ratio between the high viscosity layer and the matrix (ηhvl/ηm), (2) variations in the ratio between the amplitude of the initial deflection and the thickness of the high viscosity layer (Af/Thvl), and (3) progressive simple shear (γ). The results show that increases in ηhvl/ηm will produce progressively less elongated sheath folds, while increases in Af/Thvl will result in more elongated sheath folds. We present regime diagrams with ηhvl/ηm and Af/Thvl for different shear strains illustrating under which conditions sheath folds form. In case the original deflection amplitude and layer thickness as well as γ can be retrieved for sheath folds in nature, then their geometry can be used to quantify the effective ηhvl/ηm.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Based on a two-segment plate flexural modelling, we investigated the effective elastic thickness of global subducting oceanic lithosphere. Our results show that for the plate age of 0 to 50 Ma, the seaward effective elastic thickness T e M values are located between 600 and 900°C isotherms, and do not track any isotherm, while the majority of the trenchward effective elastic thickness T e m values are located between 300 and 600°C isotherms. For the plate age older than 50 Ma, T e M values basically matches the 600°C isotherm with some fluctuations for the age older than 110 Ma, while T e m values mainly fall between 200 and 400°C isotherms. The reduction in effective elastic thickness (T e M-T e m) varies from 2.6 to 30.1 km, or 11–68% of seaward T e M. Thus, the absolute value of the decrease in the effective elastic thicknesses (T e M-T e m) increases with the plate age, while the percentage reduction in the effective elastic thickness (1-T e m/T e M) has no obvious relationship with the age, but more related to the curvature of bending plate. Almost all bending-related earthquakes occurred above the T e M line, but many normal-faulting earthquakes are deeper than the T e M-T e m line, implying that the plate may still retain some thickness of an elastic property core in the areas (depth) where earthquakes occur.  相似文献

The Newtonian viscosity of synthetic rhyolitic liquids with 0.15-5.24 wt% dissolved water was determined in the interval between 580 and 1640 °C and pressures of 1 atm and 5-25 kbar. Measurements were performed by combining static and accelerated (up to 1000g) falling sphere experiments on water-bearing samples, with high temperature concentric cylinder experiments on 0.15 wt% H2O melts. These methods allowed viscosity determinations between 102 and 107 Pa s, and cover the complete range of naturally occurring magmatic temperatures, pressures, and H2O-contents for rhyolites. Our viscosity data, combined with those from previous studies, were modeled by an expression based on the empirical Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann equation, which describes viscosities and derivative properties (glass transition temperature Tg, fragility m, and activation volume of viscous flow Va) of silicic liquids as a function of P-T-X(H2O). The fitted expressions do not account for composition-dependent parameters other than X(H2O) and reproduce the entire viscosity database for silicic liquids to within 3.0% average relative error on log η (i.e. std. error of estimate of 0.26 log units). The results yield the expected strong decrease of viscosity with temperature and water content, but show variable pressure dependencies. Viscosity results to be strongly affected by pressure at low pressures; an effect amplified at low temperatures and water contents. Fragility, as a measure for the deviation from Arrhenian behavior, decreases with H2O-content but is insensitive to pressure. Activation volumes are always largely negative (e.g., less than −10 cm3/mol) and increase strongly with H2O-content. Variations in melt structure that may account for the observed property variations are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract Variation in the state of stress during heterogeneous deformation should be reflected in variation in the effective pressure of metamorphic reactions, whether this is mean stress or the normal stress acting across the reacting interface. The magnitude of this pressure variation will determine whether it is discernible in the preserved metamorphic mineral assemblages of heterogeneously deformed rocks. The magnitude of the mean stress difference across a non-slipping interface between two materials with viscosity ratio >c. 20:1 is effectively equal to the maximum shear stress for flow in the more viscous material. Progressive shortening of the interface results in a higher mean stress in the more competent material, whereas extension results in a lower mean stress. For high-P/low-T eclogite facies conditions, current experimental data indicate that clinopyroxene- and garnet-rich layers of eclogite should be very strong and that pressure differences of up to 800 MPa (8 kbar) between competent layer and weaker matrix may be possible. Such high values can be obtained in widely separated competent layers for values of bulk stress in the overall multilayer that are much lower (by a factor approaching the viscosity ratio). Extrusion of material between more rigid plates, which has been proposed as a regional mechanism of lateral ‘continental escape’for both the Alps and the Himalayas, should also be accompanied by a lateral gradient in effective pressure; otherwise extrusion could not occur. Maximum mean stresses with magnitudes that are many times the maximum shear stress required for plastic flow should develop for deformation zones that are long relative to their width (e.g. around 20 times for a width-to-thickness ratio of 10). Tectonic overpressure in progressively shortened competent layers, particularly in regions of extrusion between more rigid plates, might help explain the occurrence of isolated layers and pods of low-T eclogite (<550°C) with estimated peak pressures markedly in excess of those in the surrounding matrix. It cannot explain the occurrence of isolated high-T eclogites, because at temperatures >c. 550°C, the dramatic weakening of clinopyroxene in the power-law creep field precludes the development of significant overpressures in eclogite layers.  相似文献

We evaluate the pressure–temperature (P–T) conditions of ongoing regional metamorphism at the top of the oceanic crust of the subducted Pacific and Philippine Sea plates through a combination of phase diagrams and hypocenter distribution and based on the dehydration-induced earthquake hypothesis. The brute-force method was employed to find the best match thermal structure to link the hypocenter distribution and dehydration. The estimated thermal structure varies far from the values obtained from numerical simulation. Our estimates are consistent with the qualitative physical prediction for the variation of temperature in different subduction zones and provide quantitative constraints for the models. In northeastern Japan, the P–T path for the top of the oceanic crust turns to the high-T side at a depth of around 90 km. The depth corresponds to the location of the volcanic front and an active convection of the wedge mantle below this depth is suggested. Our computations also reveal the effect of an exceptional scenario beneath the Kanto region. The temperature in the Kanto region, where the cold lid of the Philippine Sea plate prevents heating by the return-flow of mantle wedge above, is much lower than that of northeastern Japan. The subduction of younger Philippine Sea plate leads to a higher-temperature in the oceanic crust. In the central Shikoku region, the thermal structure exhibits high-T/P nature. Heating by shear deformation can explain the high-T/P path in the depth range from 20 to 35 km. The Kyushu area shows moderate type T/P path reaching up to eclogite facies conditions. In the Kii and central Shikoku region, the thermal structure exhibits high-T/P nature. However, the absolute values for the areas seem to have problem in physical context. Our results has risen the significance of sediment subduction in the southwest Japan and requirement for further improvements in this technique including the aspect of variation of the bulk composition of the subducted material.  相似文献

The pressure-volume-temperature-composition (PVTX) properties of H2O-CH4 were determined from the bubble point curve to 500 °C and 3 kbar for compositions ?4 mol.% CH4 using the synthetic fluid inclusion technique. H2O-CH4 inclusions were produced by loading known amounts of Al3C4 and H2O into platinum capsules along with pre-fractured and inclusion-free quartz cores. During heating the Al3C4 and H2O react to produce CH4, and the H2O-CH4 homogeneous mixture was trapped as inclusions during fracture healing at elevated temperature and pressure. The composition of the fluid in the inclusion was confirmed using the weight loss technique after the experiment and by Raman spectroscopic analysis of the inclusions.Homogenization temperatures of the inclusions were determined and the results were used to construct iso-Th lines, defined as a line connecting the formation temperature and pressure with the homogenization temperature and pressure. The pressure in the inclusion at the homogenization temperature was calculated from the Duan equation of state (EOS). The slope (ΔPT) of each iso-Th line was calculated and the results fitted to a polynomial equation using step-wise multiple regression analysis to estimate the slope of the iso-Th line as a function of the homogenization temperature and composition according to:
PT)=a+b·m+c·m4+d·(Th)2+e·m·Th+f·m·(Th)4,  相似文献

The transition from oceanic subduction to continental collision is a key stage in the evolution of ancient orogens. We present new data for Early Cretaceous diorite and granite porphyry from north–central Tibet to constrain the evolution of the Bangong–Nujiang Tethyan Ocean (BNTO). The diorites have moderate SiO2 and high MgO contents, similar to high-Mg andesites. Zircon grains yield U–Pb ages of 128–124 Ma and positive εHf(t) values between +13.2 and + 16.3, corresponding to Hf depleted-mantle model ages (TDM) of 281–131 Ma. The high-Mg diorite was probably formed by partial melting of hydrous mantle wedge fluxed by slab-derived fluids in an oceanic subduction setting. The granite porphyries yield zircon U–Pb ages of 117–115 Ma and zircon εHf(t) values ranging from +0.1 to +4.5. Most samples have high SiO2 and Fe2O3T contents, variable FeOT/MgO and Ga/Al ratios, and are depleted in Ba, Sr, P, and Ti, similar to I- and A-type granites. The granite porphyries were most likely derived from partial melting of juvenile dioritic or granodioritic crust due to break-off of the BNTO lithosphere following collision between the Lhasa and Qiangtang blocks. The Early Cretaceous high-Mg diorite and A-type granite porphyry thus record the Early Cretaceous transition from oceanic subduction to continental collision along the Bangong–Nujiang suture zone (BNSZ).  相似文献

Tectonically active areas, such as forearc regions, commonly show contrasting relief, differential tectonic uplift, variations in erosion rates, in river incision, and in channel gradient produced by ongoing tectonic deformation. Thus, information on the tectonic activity of a defined area could be derived via landscape analysis. This study uses topography and geomorphic indices to extract signals of ongoing tectonic deformation along the Mexican subduction forearc within the Guerrero sector. For this purpose, we use field data, topographical data, knickpoints, the ratio of volume to area (RVA), the stream-length gradient index (SL), and the normalized channel steepness index (ksn). The results of the applied landscape analysis reveal considerable variations in relief, topography and geomorphic indices values along the Guerrero sector of the Mexican subduction zone. We argue that the reported differences are indicative of tectonic deformation and of variations in relative tectonic uplift along the studied forearc. A significant drop from central and eastern parts of the study area towards the west in values of RVA (from ~500 to ~300), SL (from ~500 to ca. 400), maximum SL (from ~1500–2500 to ~1000) and ksn (from ~150 to ~100) denotes a decrease in relative tectonic uplift in the same direction. We suggest that applied geomorphic indices values and forearc topography are independent of climate and lithology. Actual mechanisms responsible for the observed variations and inferred changes in relative forearc tectonic uplift call for further studies that explain the physical processes that control the forearc along strike uplift variations and that determine the rates of uplift. The proposed methodology and results obtained through this study could prove useful to scientists who study the geomorphology of forearc regions and active subduction zones.  相似文献

This study was conducted in six plots along an elevation gradient in the Qinghai spruce (Picea crassifolia Kom.) forest ecosystem of the Qilian Mountains, northwest China. Soil CO2 efflux over bare soil (R s) and moss covered soil (R s+m) were investigated from June to September in 2010 and 2011 by means of an automated soil CO2 flux system (LI-8100). The results showed that R s ranged from 1.51 to 3.96 (mean 2.64 ± 0.72) μmol m?2 s?1 for 2010, and from 1.41 to 4.09 (mean 2.55 ± 0.70) μmol m?2 s?1 for 2011. The daily change trend of R s resembled that of air temperature (T a), and there was a hysteresis between R s and soil temperature (T s). The seasonal variations of R s at lowlands (i.e., Plot 1, Plot 2 and Plot 3) were driven by soil moisture and temperature (T a and T s), while that at highlands (i.e., Plot 4, Plot 5 and Plot 6) were obviously affected by temperature. There were higher values at Plot 2 and Plot 6, which were caused by the interaction between soil moisture and temperature. In addition, soil CO2 efflux over moss covered soil (R s+m) was 8.83 % less than that over bare soil (R s), indicating that moss was another factor affecting R s. It was concluded that R s had temporal and spatial variations and was mainly controlled by temperature and soil moisture; the main determinants differed at different elevations; moss could reduce R s.  相似文献

The Caribbean oceanic plateau formed in the Pacific realm when it erupted onto the Farallon plate from the Galapagos hotspot at ~ 90 Ma. The plateau was subsequently transported to the northeast and collided with the Great Arc of the Caribbean thus initiating subduction polarity reversal and the consequent tectonic emplacement of the Caribbean plate between the North and South American continents. The plateau represents a large outpouring of mafic volcanism, which has been interpreted as having formed by melting of a hot mantle plume. Conversely, some have suggested that a slab window could be involved in forming the plateau. However, the source regions of oceanic plateaus are distinct from N-MORB (the likely source composition for slab window mafic rocks). Furthermore, melt modelling using primitive (high MgO) Caribbean oceanic plateau lavas from Curaçao, shows that the primary magmas of the plateau contained ~ 20 wt.% MgO and were derived from 30 to 32% partial melting of a fertile peridotite source region which had a potential temperature (Tp) of 1564–1614 °C. Thus, the Caribbean oceanic plateau lavas are derived from decompression melting of a hot upwelling mantle plume with excess heat relative to ambient upper mantle. Extensional decompression partial melting of sub-slab asthenosphere in a slab window with an ambient mantle Tp cannot produce enough melt to form a plateau. The formation of the Caribbean oceanic plateau by melting of ambient upper mantle in a slab window setting, is therefore, highly improbable.  相似文献

Monthly variations of lightning activity over typical land and oceanic regions of India were examined using satellite data (OTD) for a 5-year period (1995–1999). It is noted that the nature of variation between surface air maximum temperature (T max), thunderstorm days (Thn), and lightning flash count over ER and WR showed remarkable correspondence and sensitivity with each other on monthly time scale. As we move out of winter season and enter the monsoon season, via pre-monsoon season, the WR undergoes cooling relative to the ER in the range 0.1–1.2°C. As a result, WR experiences reduction of thunder days and lowering in flash count. This decrease in T max, Thn, and flash count over WR may also be associated with relatively small values of T θw and CAPE in comparison with similar values over ER during the monsoon season. Our observation of associated reduction in Thn and lightning count per 1°C cooling in surface air maximum temperature suggests reduction of ∼3.5 thunderstorms per station and 73 flashes. Comparison of lightning flashes between pairs of coastal, oceanic, arid-zone, hilly, and island stations reveals distinct relationship between climate regime and intensity of lightning activity. We may conclude the results of this study by saying that the overhead lightning activity is a clear reflection of the status of the underlying ground-earth properties. A close and continuous monitoring of lightning activity may be considered as a need of present day scientific studies.  相似文献

Indian Ocean subduction zone is one of the most active plate margins of the globe as evident from its vast record of great magnitude earthquake and tsunami events. We use Bouguer admittance (Morlet isostatic response function) in Sumatra-Java subduction zones comprising both the subduction and over-riding plates to determine the lithospheric mechanical strength variations. We determine effective elastic thickness (T e ) for five oceanic windows (size 990 × 990 km2) by analyzing the admittance using Bouguer gravity and bathymetry data. The results show bimodal T e values < 20 km for Sumatra and 20−40 km for Java. The lower bimodal values obtained for Sumatra appears to correlate well with the zones of historical seismicity. This is in sharp contrast with Java subduction zone, which shows higher T e values (20–40 km) and apparently associated with low magnitude earthquakes. We suggest a strong and wide interseismic coupling for Sumatra between the subducting and over-riding plates, and deeper mantle contributing to low strength, shallow focus — high magnitude seismicity and vice versa for Java, leading to their seismogenic zonation.  相似文献

Large segments of the continental crust are known to have formed through the amalgamation of oceanic plateaus and continental fragments. However, mechanisms responsible for terrane accretion remain poorly understood. We have therefore analysed the interactions of oceanic plateaus with the leading edge of the continental margin using a thermomechanical–petrological model of an oceanic-continental subduction zone with spontaneously moving plates. This model includes partial melting of crustal and mantle lithologies and accounts for complex rheological behaviour including viscous creep and plastic yielding. Our results indicate that oceanic plateaus may either be lost by subduction or accreted onto continental margins. Complete subduction of oceanic plateaus is common in models with old (> 40 Ma) oceanic lithosphere whereas models with younger lithosphere often result in terrane accretion. Three distinct modes of terrane accretion were identified depending on the rheological structure of the lower crust and oceanic cooling age: frontal plateau accretion, basal plateau accretion and underplating plateaus.Complete plateau subduction is associated with a sharp uplift of the forearc region and the formation of a basin further landward, followed by topographic relaxation. All crustal material is lost by subduction and crustal growth is solely attributed to partial melting of the mantle.Frontal plateau accretion leads to crustal thickening and the formation of thrust and fold belts, since oceanic plateaus are docked onto the continental margin. Strong deformation leads to slab break off, which eventually terminates subduction, shortly after the collisional stage has been reached. Crustal parts that have been sheared off during detachment melt at depth and modify the composition of the overlying continental crust.Basal plateau accretion scrapes oceanic plateaus off the downgoing slab, enabling the outward migration of the subduction zone. New incoming oceanic crust underthrusts the fractured terrane and forms a new subduction zone behind the accreted terrane. Subsequently, hot asthenosphere rises into the newly formed subduction zone and allows for extensive partial melting of crustal rocks, located at the slab interface, and only minor parts of the former oceanic plateau remain unmodified.Oceanic plateaus may also underplate the continental crust after being subducted to mantle depth. (U)HP terranes are formed with peak metamorphic temperatures of 400–700 °C prior to slab break off and subsequent exhumation. Rapid and coherent exhumation through the mantle along the former subduction zone at rates comparable to plate tectonic velocities is followed by somewhat slower rates at crustal levels, accompanied by crustal flow, structural reworking and syndeformational partial melting. Exhumation of these large crustal volumes leads to a sharp surface uplift.  相似文献

The aliphatic hydrocarbon composition (acyclic isoprenoids, hopanoids and steroids) of oils from the most productive fields in the southern geological Province of Cuba have been studied. This province is defined by its position with respect to the Cretaceous overthrust belt generated during the formation of oceanic crust along the axis of the proto-Caribbean Basin. The relative abundances of 18α(H)-22,29,30-trisnorneohopane, gammacerane and diasteranes suggest that Pina oils are related to the carbonate oils from the Placetas Unit in the northern province (low Ts/(Ts+Tm) and C27,29 rr/(rr+sd) ratios). The Cristales and Jatibonico oils exhibit some differentiating features such as higher Ts/(Ts+Tm) and absence of gammacerane. The oils from this province do not exhibit significant differences in either hopane, C32 22S/(S+R) and C30 αβ/(αβ+βα), or sterane, C29 αα 20S/(S+R), maturity ratios. However, the relative content of 5α(H),14β(H),17β(H)-cholestanes (C29 ββ/(ββ+αα) ratio) indicates that Pina oils are more mature than Cristales and Jatibonico oils. Several of these oils (Cristales, Jatibonico and Pina 26) are heavily biodegraded, lacking n-alkanes, norpristane, pristane and phytane (the two former oils do not contain acyclic isoprenoid hydrocarbons). Other biodegradation products, the 25-norhopanes, are found in all the oils. Their occurrence is probably due to mixing of severely biodegraded oil residues with undegraded crude oils during accumulation in the reservoir.  相似文献
