A simplest equation within the framework of the Mie-Grüneisen–Einstein approach is considered. Pressure estimation values are presented that are derived by conventional arithmetic and algebraic calculations as a function of temperature and volume. The equation under consideration complies with the Mie-Grüneisen–Debye model at high temperature. Different versions of an equation of state (EoS) of MgO proposed by Speziale et al. (J Geophys Res 106B:515–528, 2001) as a pressure standard at high temperatures are subject to analyses. In the literature, at least four versions of Speziale et al. EoS of MgO are discussed; the discrepancy between them reaching a few GPa at T > 2,000 K and P > 100 GPa. Our analyses of these equations suggest that the volume dependence of the Debye temperature is accepted arbitrarily and does not agree with the definition of the Grüneisen parameter, γ = −(∂lnΘ/∂lnV) T . Pressure as a function of temperature and volume in the Mie-Grüneisen–Einstein approach or the Gao pressure calculator can be used to estimate true pressure at compression x = V/V 0 < 1 with the Speziale et al. In low permeability environments, transport by advection is often neglected based on a Péclet number criterion. Such a criterion usually states that if the Péclet number (Pe) is much smaller than 1, diffusion dominates over advection and transport may be modeled considering diffusion only. Unfortunately, up to 10 different Péclet number definitions exist and for a particular case these different definitions lead to very diverse Péclet number values, differing several orders of magnitude from each other. In this paper, the different Péclet number definitions are therefore evaluated on their ability to determine the relative importance of transport by advection and by diffusion in low permeability environments. This is done by comparing the results of the analytical solution for pure diffusion with the analytical solution for diffusion, advection and dispersion for a large number of different input parameter values. The relation between the different Péclet numbers and the difference between the calculated concentration considering diffusion only and the calculated concentration considering both diffusion and advection is studied. These calculations show that some Péclet number definitions are not well suited to decide whether advection may be neglected in low permeability media.
Resumen Frecuentemente se descuida el transporte por avección en ambientes de baja permeabilidad sobre la base del criterio del número de Péclet. Dicho criterio usualmente sostiene que si el número de Péclet (Pe) es mucho menor a 1, la difusión domina sobre la avección y es posible modelar el transporte considerando la difusión únicamente. Desafortunadamente existen 10 definiciones diferentes del número de Péclet y para un caso en particular estas diferentes definiciones conducen a valores de número de Péclet muy diversos los cuales difieren entre sí en varias magnitudes. Por lo tanto, en este artículo se evalúan las diferentes definiciones en base a su habilidad para determinar la importancia relativa del transporte por avección y difusión en ambientes de baja permeabilidad. Esto se lleva a cabo mediante la comparación de los resultados de la solución analítica para difusión pura con los de la solución analítica por difusión, avección y dispersión para un número amplio de diferentes valores como parámetro. Se ha estudiado la relación entre los diferentes números de Péclet y las diferencias entre la concentración calculada considerando difusión únicamente y considerando tanto difusión como avección. Estos cálculos muestran que algunas de las definiciones de los números de Péclet no son muy apropiadas par decidir si se puede descuidar la avección en medios de baja permeabilidad.

Résumé Dans les milieux à faible perméabilité, le transport par advection est souvent négligeable lorsquon se base sur le critère du nombre de Péclet. Un tel critère suggère habituellement que pour un nombre de Péclet beaucoup plus petit que 1, la diffusion domine sur ladvection et que le transport peut être modélisé par diffusion seulement. Malheureusement, il existe jusquà environ dix définitions du nombre de Péclet et pour un cas spécifique, ces différentes définitions mènent à des valeurs du nombre de Péclet très différentes, et qui varient entre elles de plusieurs ordres de grandeur. Dans cet article, les différentes définitions du nombre de Péclet sont évaluées en fonction de leur habileté à déterminer limportance relative du transport par advection et par diffusion dans les milieux à faible perméabilité. Ceci est fait en comparant les résultats de la solution analytique pour la diffusion pure à la solution analytique pour la diffusion, ladvection et la dispersion, et ce, pour un grand nombre de valeurs différentes comme paramètre dentrée. La relation entre les différents nombres de Péclet et la différence entre la concentration calculée en considérant la diffusion seulement et la concentration calculée considérant simultanément la diffusion et ladvection est étudiée. Ces calculs prouvent que certaines définitions de nombre de Péclet ne sont pas appropriées afin de décider si ladvection peut être négligée dans les milieux à faible perméabilité.

Orthorhombic post-perovskite CaPtO3 is isostructural with post-perovskite MgSiO3, a deep-Earth phase stable only above 100 GPa. Energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction data (to 9.4 GPa and 1,024 K) for CaPtO3 have been combined with published isothermal and isobaric measurements to determine its PVT equation of state (EoS). A third-order Birch–Murnaghan EoS was used, with the volumetric thermal expansion coefficient (at atmospheric pressure) represented by α(T) = α0 + α1(T). The fitted parameters had values: isothermal incompressibility, $ K_{{T_{0} }} $  = 168.4(3) GPa; $ K_{{T_{0} }}^{\prime } $  = 4.48(3) (both at 298 K); $ \partial K_{{T_{0} }} /\partial T $  = ?0.032(3) GPa K?1; α0 = 2.32(2) × 10?5 K?1; α1 = 5.7(4) × 10?9 K?2. The volumetric isothermal Anderson–Grüneisen parameter, δ T , is 7.6(7) at 298 K. $ \partial K_{{T_{0} }} /\partial T $ for CaPtO3 is similar to that recently reported for CaIrO3, differing significantly from values found at high pressure for MgSiO3 post-perovskite (?0.0085(11) to ?0.024 GPa K?1). We also report axial PVT EoS of similar form, the first for any post-perovskite. Fitted to the cubes of the axes, these gave $ \partial K_{{aT_{0} }} /\partial T $  = ?0.038(4) GPa K?1; $ \partial K_{{bT_{0} }} /\partial T $  = ?0.021(2) GPa K?1; $ \partial K_{{cT_{0} }} /\partial T $  = ?0.026(5) GPa K?1, with δ T  = 8.9(9), 7.4(7) and 4.6(9) for a, b and c, respectively. Although $ K_{{T_{0} }} $ is lowest for the b-axis, its incompressibility is the least temperature dependent.  相似文献

The central question of this article is What does the urban and architectural design of The Hague tell us about the Dutch political and administrative ambitions in representing the state and national identity from 1814–1917? In this period many European capital cities grew fast, governmentas acquired new ambitions and new powers, and nationalism spread. Many governments developed impressive national building activities. In The Netherlands there was hardly any urge to emphasize the state power by transforming the urban landscape even in its governmental center The Hague. One reason is that the dominant liberal politics refrained from social and economic interventions. A second reason is that the various population groups had difficulty to agree on one national building style. Accompanied by a strong ideological discussion, the Dutch polity finally succeeded in producing a governmental architecture (from ca. 1880–1815) in the so-called Dutch Renaissance style. Although the different population groups (orthodox Protestants, Liberals, Catholics) could, each for their own reasons, accept this national style, its characteristics (picturesque, simple and small) lent itself poorly to public governmental commissions on a grand scale.  相似文献

Holocene relative shore-level changes and development of the Ģipka palaeolagoon in the western Gulf of Riga are reconstructed using multiproxy analyses by combining litho-, biostratigraphical and chronological data with remote sensing and geophysical data. The results show the development of the Ģipka basin from the Ancylus Lake/Initial Litorina Sea coastal zone (before c. 9.1 cal. ka BP) to coastal fen (c. 9.1 to 8.4 cal. ka BP) and gradual development of the Litorina Sea lagoon (c. 8.4 to 4.8 cal. ka BP) and its transition to a freshwater coastal lake (c. 4.8 to 4.6 cal. ka BP), fen (c. 4.6 to 4.2 cal. ka BP), and river floodplain (since c. 4.2 cal. ka BP). The highest shorelines of the Ancylus Lake and Litorina Sea were mapped at an elevation of 12–11 and 9 m a.s.l., respectively. A new relative shore level (RSL) curve for the western Gulf of Riga was constructed based on RSL data from the Ģipka area and from nearby Ruhnu Island studied earlier. The reconstruction shows that the beginning of the last marine transgression in the western Gulf of Riga started at c. 8.4 cal. ka BP, and concurred with the 1.9 m RSL rise event recorded from the North Sea basin. Diatom analysis results indicate the existence of the Ģipka lagoon between c. 7.7 and 4.8 cal. ka BP, with the highest salinity c. 6.1 cal. ka BP. During the existence of the brackish lagoon, settlement sites of the Neolithic hunter–gatherer groups existed on the shores of the lagoon in the period c. 6.0 to 5.0 cal. ka BP.  相似文献

The El Kef area, Tunisia, is host of the official stratotype of the K/P boundary and of a complex metallic and non-metallic mineralization at Djebel Sekarna, encompassing syn(dia)genetic shale- and carbonate-hosted Zn–P and epigenetic Pb–Zn–Ba ore mineralizations. Micropaleontological, geological, mineralogical, and chemical studies (major and minor elements, C- and O-isotopes) of Upper Santonian to Lower Eocene calcareous-siliciclastic sediments resulted in a subdivision of this mineralization into eight mineralizing stages. Stages 1 and 2 (late Cretaceous–early Paleogene) are representative of syn(diagenetic) shale- and carbonate-hosted sulfidic and siliceous (Fe)–Zn–P mineralization deposited in shallow marine to slightly brackish sediments. Stages 3–5 (early Eocene respectively—pre- and post-Nummulites involutus-exilis zones) are representatives of epigenetic sulfidic and sulfatic (Fe)–Zn–Pb–Ba mineralizations at temperatures as high as 170/200°C and stages 6 and 7 (early Eocene respectively—post-Alveolina oblonga zone) cover the non-sulfidic Zn–(Pb) mineralization at temperatures as high as 60°C which is transitional from hypogene into supergene mineralization (“epithermal calamine deposits”). Stage 8 represents alteration of the pre-existing mineral assemblages in course of the Holocene weathering. The Cretaceous through Paleogene aquatic system is characterized by a poisoning of the sea with base metals, mainly Zn, and the atmosphere was chocked with clouds of fine-grained volcanic ejecta. Both processes contributed to the build-up of Zn–(Pb) deposits and vast, but uneconomic bentonitic clay deposits around the K/P boundary. Ore mineralization in the El Kef area is a multiple-phase process which reached its climax during the early Eocene as indicated by the large foram zones. These inorganic concentration processes resulting in the formation of mineral deposits had obviously also a negative effect on the long-term course of regional Earth’s biological history during the late Cretaceous–early Eocene period with lethal consequences for some species. The joint studies of inorganic and organic data reveal that such extraordinary metallogenetic processes close to the K/P boundary in its stratotype area in Tunisia were “strictly terrestrial”.  相似文献

In the oxidation zone of the Berezovskoe gold deposit in the middle Urals, Russia, minerals of the beudantite–segnitite series (idealized formulas PbFe3 3+ AsO4)(SO4)(OH)6 and PbFe3 3+ AsO4)(AsO3OH)(OH)6, respectively) form a multicomponent solid solution system with wide variations in the As, S, Fe, Cu, and Sb contents and less variable P, Cr, Zn, Pb, and contents K. The found minerals of this system correspond to series from beudantite with 1.25 S apfu to S-free segnitite, with segnitite lacking between 1.57 and 1.79 As apfu. Segnitite at the Berezovskoe deposit contains presumably pentavalent Sb (up to 15.2 wt % Sb2O5 = 0.76 Sb apfu, the highest Sb content in the alunite supergroup minerals), which replaces Fe3+. The Sb content increases with increasing As/S value. On the contrary, beudantite is free of or very poor in Sb (0.00–0.03 Sb apfu). Many samples of segnitite are enriched in Cu (up to 8.2 wt% CuO = 0.83 Cu apfu, uncommonly high Cu content for this mineral) and/or in Zn (up to 2.0 wt% ZnO = 0.19 Zn apfu). Both Cu and Zn replace Fe. The generalized formula of a hypothetic end member of the segnitite series with 1 Sb apfu is Pb(Fe3+ M 2+Sb5+)(AsO4)2(OH)6, where M = Cu, Zn, Fe2+. The chemical evolution of beudantite–segnitite series minerals at the Berezovskoe deposit is characterized by an increase in the S/As value with a decrease in the Sb content from early to late generations.  相似文献

The modern tradition in the management of nature in Spain was shaped by different policies for economic and social restoration included in a vast plural reformist movement known as Regeneracionismo. The aim of the restoration of wealth was felt to require the correction of the defects of the geographical configuration of the country, and particularly the imbalances in its climatic and hydraulic régimes which derive from its orography. The objective put forward was then to put in place a national hydraulic artery system in order to increase irrigated areas and to redistribute water. Hydraulic policy was to find additional and essential support in hydrological-forestry action.Both hydraulic and forestry policies during the period 1855–1936 are studied in this essay. They are first reviewed in the context of conservation of nonrenewable natural resources. They are then considered as an expression of the conflicts between the State administration and local powers and interests. This tension prevented the rational use of the natural resources available — an antagonism which has by no means disappeared.This essay is based on our contribution to the XVIIth International Congress of History of Science, Hamburg, August 1989.  相似文献

Robust quantification of pressure (P)–temperature (T) paths for subduction-related HP/UHP metamorphic rocks is fundamental in recognizing spatial changes in both the depth of detachment from the down-going plate and the thermal evolution of convergent margin sutures in orogenic belts. Although the Chinese southwestern (SW) Tianshan is a well-known example of an accretionary metamorphic belt in which HP/UHP metabasites occur in voluminous host metasedimentary schists, information about the P–T evolution of these rocks in the eastern segment is limited, precluding a full understanding of the development of the belt as a whole. In this study at Kekesu in the eastern segment of the SW Tianshan, we use microstructural evidence and phase equilibrium modelling to quantify the peak and retrograde P–T conditions from two lawsonite-bearing micaschists and an enclosed garnet–epidote blueschist; for two of the samples we also constrain the late prograde P–T path. In the two micaschist samples, relics of prograde lawsonite are preserved in quartz inclusions in garnet, whereas in the metabasite, polymineralic aggregates included in garnet are interpreted as pseudomorphs after lawsonite. For garnet micaschist TK21, which is mainly composed of garnet, phengite/paragonite, albite, chlorite, quartz and relict lawsonite, with accessary rutile, titanite and ilmenite, the maximum P–T conditions for the peak stage are 18.0–19.0 kbar at 480–485°C. During initial exhumation, the retrograde P–T path passed through metamorphic conditions of 15.0–17.0 kbar at 460–500°C. For garnet–glaucophane micaschist TK33, which is mainly composed of garnet, glaucophane, phengite/paragonite, albite, chlorite, quartz, relict lawsonite and minor epidote, with accessary titanite, apatite, ilmenite and zircon, the maximum P conditions for the peak stage are >24.0 kbar at 400–500°C. During exhumation, the P–T path passed through metamorphic conditions of 17.5–18.5 kbar at 485–495°C and 14.0–17.5 kbar at 460–500°C. For garnet–epidote blueschist TK37, which is mainly composed of garnet, glaucophane, epidote, phengite, chlorite, albite and quartz, with accessary titanite, apatite, ilmenite, zircon and calcite, the prograde evolution passed through metamorphic conditions of ~20.0 kbar at ~445°C to Pmax conditions of ~21.5 kbar at 450–460°C and Tmax conditions of 19.5–21.0 kbar at 490–520°C. During exhumation, the rock passed through metamorphic conditions of 17.5–19.0 kbar at 475–500°C, before recording P–T conditions of <17.5 kbar at <500°C. These results demonstrate that maximum recorded pressures for individual samples vary by as much as 6 kbar in the eastern segment of the SW Tianshan, which may suggest exhumation from different depths in the subduction channel. Furthermore, the three samples record similar P–T paths from ~17.0 to 15.0 kbar, which suggests they were juxtaposed at a similar depth along the subduction interface. We compare our new results with published information from eclogites in the same area before considering the wider implications of these data for the orogenic development of the belt as a whole.  相似文献

The results of long-term, uniform, photographic observations of visual double and multiple stars obtained on the Pulkovo 26″ refractor are presented. Relative positions are calculated for 259 pairs of visual double stars in 194 systems, with the relative motions also computed for 127 pairs. Lower limits for the total masses of the systems for which elliptical orbits possible are also found for 48 pairs with reliable parallaxes from the Hipparcos catalog. The accuracies of the three measuring machines used in the reduction of the photographic plates are compared. Component separations measured with different machines can differ by as much as 0.2″, demonstrating the advantages of using uniform observations.  相似文献

Syn-orogenic detachments in accretionary wedges make the exhumation of high-pressure and low-temperature metamorphic rocks possible with little erosion. The velocity of exhumation within the subduction channel or the accretionary complex, and thus the shape of PT paths, depend upon the kinematic boundary conditions. A component of slab retreat tends to open the channel and facilitates the exhumation. We document the effect of slab retreat on the shape of PT paths using the example of the Phyllite–Quartzite Nappe that has been exhumed below the Cretan syn-orogenic detachment during the Miocene in Crete and the Peloponnese. Data show a clear tendency toward colder conditions at peak pressure and during exhumation where the intensity of slab retreat is larger. This spatial evolution of PT gradient is accompanied with an evolution from a partly coaxial regime below the Peloponnese section of the detachment toward a clearly non-coaxial regime in Crete.  相似文献

The Baima layered intrusion is located in the central part of the Emeishan Large Igneous Province (ELIP). The N–S striking intrusion is ~ 24 km long and ~ 2 km thick and dips to the west. Based on variations in modal proportions and cumulus mineral assemblages, the intrusion from the base to the top is simply subdivided into a lower zone (LZ) with most of the economic magnetite layers, and an upper zone (UZ) with apatite-bearing troctolite and gabbro. The rock textures suggest crystallization of the Fe–Ti oxide slightly later than plagioclase (An67-54) but relatively earlier than olivine (Fo74-55), followed by clinopyroxene and finally apatite.Relatively low olivine forsterite content and abundant ilmenite exsolution lamellae in clinopyroxene indicate that the Baima parental magma is a highly evolved Fe–Ti-rich magma. Via MELTS model, it demonstrates that under a closed oxygen system, extensive silicate mineral fractionation of a picritic magma might lead to Fe and Ti enrichment and oxygen fugacity elevation in the residual magma. When such Fe–Ti-rich magma ascends to the shallower Baima intrusion, the Fe–Ti oxides may become an early liquidus phase. Well-matched olivine and plagioclase microprobe data with the results of MELTS calculation, combined with relatively low CaO content in olivine (0.02–0.08 wt.%) indicate that wall-rock contamination probably plays a weak role on oxygen fugacity elevation and the early crystallization of Fe–Ti oxides. Several reversals in whole-rock chromium and plagioclase anorthite contents illustrate that multiple recharges of such Fe–Ti-rich magma mainly occurred along the lower part of the Baima magma chamber. Frequent Fe–Ti-rich magma replenishment and gravitational sorting and settling are crucial for the development of thick Fe–Ti oxide layers at the base of the Baima layered intrusion.  相似文献
