An analysis of the effects of Hall current on hydromagnetic free-convective flow through a porous medium bounded by a vertical plate is theoretically investigated when a strong magnetic field is imposed in a direction which is perpendicular to the free stream and makes an angle to the vertical direction. The influence of Hall currents on the flow is studied for various values of .Nomenclature c p specific heat at constant pressure - e electrical charge - E Eckert number - E electrical field intensity - g acceleration due to gravity - G Grashof number - H 0 applied magnetic field - H magnetic field intensity - (j x , j y , j z ) components of current densityJ - J current density - K permeability of porous medium - M magnetic parameter - m Hall parameter - n e electron number density - P Prandtl number - q velocity vector - (T, T w , T ) temperature - t time - (u, v, w) components of the velocity vectorq - U 0 uniform velocity - v 0 suction velocity - (x, y, z) Cartesian coordinates Greek Symbols angle - coefficient of volume expansion - e cyclotron frequency - frequency - dimensionless temperature - thermal conductivity - coefficient of viscosity - magnetic permeability - kinematic viscosity - mass density of fluid - e charge density - electrical conductivity - e electron collision time  相似文献

The equivalent widths of the oxygen lines at 7774 and 8446 and of H (and some H) have been measured for 22 early-type, emission-line stars. A strong correlation between H and 8446 intensities has been found, although there is no such correlation between H and 7774. This confirms the probability that Bowen's mechanism is operative (the neutral oxygen 33 D state is overpopulated because the excitation energy of Ly- nearly coincides with that of theOi 1025 line). The possibility of using 8446 and H equivalent widths for a comparison of oxygen to hydrogen abundances in these stars is discussed.  相似文献

Light-element abundances are compiled for six peculiar A stars (3 CenA, 2 CVn, HR 1732,v For, Cnc, and 112 Her) with Heilines very weak for their colours. The abundances are interpreted on the theory that peculiar A stars were once secondaries in binary systems in which the primaries exploded as type II supernovae. During the explosions of the primaries, protons were accelerated to high energies (>20 MeV) in shock waves at the secondaries, and spallation of He, C, N, and O occurred. This was followed by the arrival of heavier elements from the primaries. Abundances on 2 CVn, HR 1732, andv For were subsequently modified by surface nuclear reactions involving protons and -particles accelerated to lower energies (10 MeV), probably by magnetic fields. Successive (, ) reactions formed Si28 from Ne20, and (p, ) reactions acting on A40 and Ca40 may have contributed to the excesses of Cl observed on 2 CVn and HR 1732. These proposals have interesting implications with regard to the relative abundances of the iron-peak elements found on peculiar A stars and in the Solar System.  相似文献

Spherically symmetric, steady-state, optically thick accretion onto a nonrotating black hole with the mass of is studied. The gas accreting onto the black hole is assumed to be a fully ionized hydrogen plasma withn 0=108 cm–3 andT 0=104 K far from the black hole, and a new approximate expression for the Eddington factor is introduced. The luminosity is estimated to beL=1.875×1033 erg s–1, which primarily arises from the optical surface (1) ofT104 K. The accretion flow is characterized by 1 and (v/c)10. In the optically thin region, the flow remains isothermal, and the increase of temperature occurs at 1. The radiative equilibrium is strictly realized at (v/c)10.  相似文献

Multiple expansion of the tidal potential   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The Earth tidal deformation causes an additional gravitational potential. Its effect on the Moon orbital motion has been studied by several authors. In this contribution, we develop this additional potential without specifying the inertial frame chosen. For this purpose, we use the properties of the representation of rotation groups in 3 dimensions space. We finally obtain the interaction potential between the distorted Earth and the Moon which is a necessary preliminary to the study of the evolution of the Earth-Moon system.Nomenclature T.R.O Tide raising object - (, , ) Spherical coordinates of the T.R.O. - (J, E ) Earth spin axis orientation. A charged particle detector array flown on a high altitude balloon has detected and measured some 3×104 cosmic-ray nuclei withZ12. The charge spectrum at the top of the atmosphere for nuclei withE>650 MeV·n–1 and the energy spectrum for 650E<1800 MeV·n–1 are reported and compared with previously published results. The charge spectrum at the source of cosmic rays is deduced from these data and compared with a recent compilation of galactic abundances.  相似文献

Some particular solutions of the restricted three-body problem which determine outgoing or incoming orbits near libration points are considered. The solutions are obtained in the form of absolutely convergent Liapounov series. It is proved that these asymptotic solutions are plane curves situated in the orbital plane of the primaries. Each family of asymptotic solutions for every collinear point consists of four solutions which are the separatrices of a saddle point. The angles of inclination of the separatrices are determined.

The process of re-escalation of the scalar field as R 3, the energy density as R 3, and the pressurep aspR 3P, lends itself to obtain a reduced equation that represents, for a wide variety of equations of state, the cosmological evolution of an homogeneous and isotropic, flat Universe. A particular solution to this equation is presented.  相似文献

Characteristics of the emission observed above the solar limb in four EUV lines, Sixii 499, Mgx 625, Neviii 770, and Ovi 1032 are discussed. The mean temperature of the corona derived from the ratios of the intensities of Sixii 499 and Mgx 625 is 1.8 million K. There do not appear to be significant temperature differences in regions with low EUV intensities and those with high EUV intensities, suggesting that the EUV emission from the lithium-like ions depends primarily on the integral of n e 2 along the line of sight. The EUV data are compared with K-coronameter measurements in order to yield new estimates of the abundances of Si, Mg, Ne and O relative to hydrogen. Within the uncertainties of the analysis, these coronal abundances are in agreement with the corresponding photospheric values.  相似文献

The Hall effect on the unsteady hydromagnetic free-convection resulting from the combined effects of thermal and mass diffusion of an electrical-conducting liquid through a porous medium past an infinite vertical porous plate in a rotating system have been analysed. The expressions for the mean velocity, mean skin friction, and mean rate of heat transfer on the plate are derived. Charged particle acceleration is considered by a radiation flux from a star or hot spot in X-ray pulsars. It is shown that for any distance from the star there exists the upper velocity limit up to which a particle can be accelerated by radiation. This critical velocity does not depend on the luminosity of the spot. Near the hot spot surface the critical velocityv0.65c. These results are applied to plasma acceleration inX-ray pulsars. The mechanism is advanced, of -ray generation in the course of plasma accretion, onto a neutron star. It is shown that in the presence of a large magnetic field and high luminosity of the spot the relativistic electron-position avalanche may appear. The optical depth of the electron-positron cloud achieves the value of order one. The X-ray quanta emitted by the spot are scattered by relativistic (2.6) electron-positron pairs and are transformed into -radiation. Hard quanta with energy 1 MeV leave the generation region in the narrow cone 0.25.  相似文献

Using the flux-transport equation in the absence of sources, we study the relation between a highly peaked polar magnetic field and the poleward meridional flow that concentrates it. If the maximum flow speed m greatly exceeds the effective diffusion speed /R, then the field has a quasi-equilibrium configuration in which the poleward convection of flux via meridional flow approximately balances the equatorward spreading via supergranular diffusion. In this case, the flow speed () and the magnetic field B() are related by the steady-state approximation () (/R)B()/B() over a wide range of colatitudes from the poles to midlatitudes. In particular, a general flow profile of the form sin p cos q which peaks near the equator (q p) will correspond to a cos n magnetic field at high latitudes only if p = 1 and m = n /R. Recent measurements of n 8 and 600 km2 s–1 would then give m 7 m s–1.  相似文献

In this Letter we propose to consider the four-energy-space whose coordinates are composed as follows: (i) the coordinate 0 refers to the internal energy of the body (it is involved as an unknown function of the rest-energy and the kinetic energy of the body), and (ii) the coordinates 1, 2, 3 relate to the presence of gravitational, electromagnetic, and thermal energy at the location of the body respectively. We involve yet the proper energy interval d2 by analogy to the four-interval ds 2 in general relativity. From such metric field we calculate the Ricci tensor in the simplest case. In addition, we require its form to be the same one as that considered by Schwarzschild. Comparing both solutions we obtain Einstein's relationE=mc 2.  相似文献

The analysis of solar wind He++ and H+ ion distribution functions, collected over five months by the satellite Prognoz 1, shows that these are in general maxwellian but that often tails appear at higher speeds. The existing relation V-T, the observation of ratios of T/Tp 3.83 and V/Vp 1.035 give evidence of preferential He++ ion heating and acceleration. The criteria for heating by dissipation of hydromagnetic waves proposed by Barnes and Hung (1973) are tested experimentally. Finally, multifluid models are likely to predict certain observations such as dependence of the velocity ratio V/Vp on the solar wind flux.  相似文献

In a previous publication (1977) the author has constructed a family () of long-periodic orbits in the Trojan case of the restricted problems of three bodies. Here he constructs the domain of the analytical solution of the problem of the motion, excluding the vicinity of thecritical divisor which vanishes at the exact commensurability of the natural frequencies 1 and 2. In terms of thecritical masses mj(2), or the associatedcritical energies j 2 (m), is the intersection of the intervals ofshallow resonance, of the form. Inasmuch as the intervals |2j 2 |<j ofdeep resonance aredisjoint, it follows that (1) the disjointed family () embraces the tadpole branch, 021, lying in: and (2) despite the clustering of j 2 (m) atj=, the family () includes, for 2=1, an asymptoticseparatrix that terminates the branch in the vicinity of the Lagrangian pointL 3.In a similar manner, the family () can be extended to the horseshoe branch 1<2 2 2 .  相似文献

By considering the relativistic expression for isothermal NS cores,T·e /2 = constant, we have shown that some of the standard equations of state, when applied to NS cores, correspond to constancy of some adiabatic exponents. It has been shown that the equation of state,P=KE, corresponds to 1 = to 2 = 3 1 +K and the equation of state, dP/dE=K, corresponds to 3 1 +K. The conditions under which different equations of state represent isothermal cores have been obtained: For isothermal NS, the local temperatureT, can be expressed in terms of pressureP, energy densityE, and rest mass density . For example: (a)P =KE :T = constant × (E/); (b)P=KE :T = constant × (P/); (c) dP/dE =K :T K ; (d) = 2 :T = constant × (P/E); and (e) = 3 :T = constant × (P/)1/2. Equation of state corresponding to = 2 is obtained as:P=E/ln(K/E) and the equation corresponding to = 3 comes out as:E=P ln(K/P). Core-envelope models can be developed for these two cases. When core equation corresponding to = 2 or = 3 is used in the core, we can ensure the continuity of dP/dE at the core-envelope boundary, along with the continuity ofP, E, , and . The parameters of isothermal NS cores corresponding to the cases = 2 and = 3, have been obtained. The maximum mass of these NS cores comes out to be 2.7 .  相似文献

Vector magnetogram, H, and hard X-ray observations of flares are reviewed which show that nonthermal electron signatures in H are never cospatial with regions of maximum current density for the small number of flares analyzed, but lie to the sides of these regions. By considering electron acceleration and transport requirements, four conditions are found that must be fulfilled to observe nonthermal electron signatures in H: (1) The plasma beta 0.3 in the acceleration region. (2) The energy flux of electrons above 20 keV is greater than 1010 erg cm–2 s–1. (3) The column densityN 1020 cm–2 between the electron source and the chromosphere. (4) The coronal pressure in the flux tube connecting to the H layerp 100 dyne cm–2. Condition 2 can be most easily met in the initial stages of flares. In contrast, the only condition for a high-pressure H signature isp 1000 dyne cm–2, which is most easily met in a region of maximum current density or heating and far enough into the flare for significant heating to have occurred. Thus, high-pressure signatures should be expected to occur more frequently than nonthermal electron signatures and to occur generally later in time. Also Guest Worker at NOAA Space Environment Laboratory Boulder Colorado U.S.A.  相似文献

An exact analysis of the effects of mass transfer on the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid past an uniformly accelerated vertical porous and non-porous plate has been presented on taking into account the free convection currents. Spectral scans of the coma of comet P/Crommelin 1818. I have been obtained in the wavelength range 3200–6500 Å. Strong emission features of CN(3883 Å) and C2 Swan bands (4695, 5165, and 5538 Å) have been identified. Some weak emission features of CH(3890 Å), C3(4050 Å), CN(4200 »), and C2 + CH(4358 ») were also detected. Sodium was found to be absent in this comet. An estimate of CN and C2 abundances has been made and their production rate have been derived.  相似文献
