Chloritoid-sericite schists from the chlorite zone of the regionally metamorphosed Singhbhum anticlinorium in Eastern India are described with regard to the formation of chloritoid during prograde metamorphism — the main stage of its crystallisation was coeval with the movement. The movements accompanying metamorphism have had a marked effect on the lattice orientation of this mineral, so that its crystallographic axis is roughly parallel to the regional fold axis. In one case chloritoid appears to be in stable association with hematite, i.e. it persists beyond the magnetite-hematite equilibrium, which is probably a local effect due to a slight rise in oxygen partial pressure in the last stages of metamorphism. The occurrence of phengitic mica in these schists is suggestive of high total pressures and high water pressures.  相似文献

Summary The first Indian occurrence of renierite, [Cu10(Cu0.09Zn0.71Fe0.15)0.15Fe4(Ge1.68V0.03-As0.27)1.98]16.93S16.08 is reported from the Cu-rich basal zone of the polymetallic deposit at Rajpura-Dariba. Optical, X-ray and electron microprobe data on the mineral are compared with those from other occurrences. A slight excess of the iron content compared with the formula Cu10(Zn1–x Cu x )(Ge2–x As x )Fe4S16 ofBernstein (1986) and noticeable differences between Cu-coefficient (in brackets) and As-coefficient are obtained. The substitution scheme in renierite may be more complicated than that suggested byBernstein (1986), and apparently also includes the substitution Cu Zn Fe together with As Ge.

Zusammenfassung Das erste indische Vorkommen von Renierit [Cu10(Cu0.09Zn0.71Fe0.15)0.15Fe4(Ge1.68V0.03As0.27)1.98]16.93S16.08 wird mitgeteilt; dieses liegt in der Kupfer-reichen liegenden Zone der polymetallischen Lagerstätte von Rajpura-Dariba. Optische, Röntgen- und Mikrosondendaten dieses Minerals werden mit solchen von anderen Vorkommen verglichen. Ein leichter Überschuß des Eisengehaltes verglichen mit der Formel Cu10(Zn1–x Cu x )(Ge2–x As x )Fe4S16 vonBernstein (1986) und Unterschiede zwischen dem Cu-Koeffizient (in Klammer) und dem As-Koeffizient wurden festgestellt. Die Art der Substitution in Renierit dürfte komplizierter sein als vonBernstein (1986) vorgeschlagen. Die Substitution Cu Zn Fe zusammen mit As scheint hier eine Rolle zu spielen.

An extensive humite‐bearing marble horizon within a supracrustal sequence at Ambasamudram, southern India, was studied using petrological and stable isotopic techniques to define its metamorphic history and fluid characteristics. At peak metamorphic temperatures of 775±73°C, based on calcite‐graphite carbon isotope thermometry, the mineral assemblages suggest layer‐by‐layer control of fluid compositions. Clinohumite + calcite‐bearing assemblages suggest XCO2 < 0.4 (at 700°C and 5 kbar), calcite + forsterite + K‐feldspar‐bearing assemblages suggest XCO2>0.9 (at 790°C); and local wollastonite + scapolite + grossular‐bearing zones formed at XCO2 of c. 0.3. Retrograde reaction textures such as scapolite + quartz symplectites after feldspar and calcite and replacement of dolomite + diopside or tremolite+dolomite after calcite+forsterite or calcite+clinohumite are indicative of retrogression under high XCO2 conditions. Calcite preserves late Proterozoic carbon and oxygen isotopic signatures and the marble lacks evidence for extensive retrograde fluid infiltration, while during prograde metamorphism the possible infiltration of aqueous fluids did not produce significant isotopic resetting. Isotopic zonation of calcite and graphite grains was likely produced by localized CO2 fluid infiltration during retrogression. Contrary to the widespread occurrence of humite‐marbles related to retrograde aqueous fluid infiltration, the Ambasamudram humite‐marbles record a prograde‐to‐peak metamorphic humite formation and retrogression under conditions of low XH2O.  相似文献

Garnetiferous basic granulites occur, as parts of hornblende-pyroxene- and pyroxene granulites, in a Precambrian terrain around Saltora. The chemistry of the garnetiferous basic granulites is broadly similar to that of the hornblende-pyroxene granulites, their immediate precursors, but in detail they have distinctly higher Fe/Mg ratios. The compositions of the major mafic silicates of the garnetiferous varieties do not reflect higher pressures of formation: the Jd/Ts ratios in calcic pyroxenes are similar to those from the non-garnetiferous varieties, and the pyrope contents of garnets are low. Exchange equilibrium in respect of major elements was established among the mafic silicates in spite of garnets being late overprints. The orthopyroxene — calcic pyroxene pairs from the garnetiferous granulites show lower values of K D(Mg-Fe) opx-cpx than those from the non-garnetiferous granulites, pointing to lower temperature of equilibration. The K D(Mg-Fe) opx-hbl K D(Mg-Fe) cpx-hbl relations show that the more magnesian triads equilibrated at lower temperatures; viewed against experimental data regarding the effect of Mg/Fe ratios on the appearance of garnets in basic rocks, formation of garnets by cooling is strongly indicated. Several intergrowth textures, especially garnet-ilmenite and garnet-quartz (±albite) symplectites, and modal relations argue in favour of composite reactions of the type hornblende+ quartz-→calcic pyroxene+garnet+albite+H2O, which couple hornblende breakdown reactions with orthopyroxene+anorthite→garnet reactions. The approximate range of pressure and temperature conditions, estimated from experimental data, are 6–8.5 kb and 750–830° C. Since garnets formed by cooling in iron-rich granulites, the garnetiferous granulites do not represent higher pressure subfacies of the granulite facies.  相似文献

Mafic dykes intrude the composite Mt. Abu granite batholith as a minor and the last phase of magmatism. The dykes are sub-vertical, variable in width and visibly compact, however, features of alteration and shearing can be seen. The dykes occurring within the recently identified and described, Delwara Shear Zone (DWSZ), from the western margin of the Mt. Abu batholith are intensely to moderately sheared and intricately mixed with the host granitoids. The mafic dykes occurring within the shear zone bear evidence of assimilating the host granitoids during their ascent, seen as relicts, streaks and sub-rounded K-feldspar clasts in mafic dykes. The hybridization has resulted in unusual geochemical signatures of the mafic dykes such as higher silica levels, erratic and high incompatible trace element abundances and lack of any systematic trends. Mixing line calculations on the mafic dyke samples reveal between 30 to 60% felsic input into the mafic dykes. Mafic dykes outside the shear zone in the Mt. Abu are meter scale in width and generally free of felsic inclusions owing to small volumes of mafic melts. Large volume of mafic melts are required for assimilating up to 60% felsic component which has been identified as approximately 100 m wide zone within the DWSZ. Shearing has played an important role in providing the channel ways and for sustained high temperatures to allow such hybridization.  相似文献

In the present study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the seismic hazard considering local site effects by carrying out detailed geotechnical and geophysical site characterization in Bangalore, India to develop microzonation maps. An area of 220 km2, encompassing Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has been chosen as the study area. Seismic hazard analysis and microzonation of Bangalore are addressed in three parts: in the first part, estimation of seismic hazard is done using seismotectonic and geological information. Second part deals with site characterization using geotechnical and shallow geophysical techniques. In the last part, local site effects are assessed by carrying out one-dimensional (1-D) ground response analysis (using the program SHAKE2000) using both standard penetration test (SPT) data and shear wave velocity data from multichannel analysis of surface wave (MASW) survey. Further, field experiments using microtremor studies have also been carried out for evaluation of predominant frequency of the soil columns. The same has been assessed using 1-D ground response analysis and compared with microtremor results. Further, the Seed and Idriss simplified approach has been adopted to evaluate the soil liquefaction susceptibility and liquefaction resistance assessment. Microzonation maps have been prepared with a scale of 1:20,000. The detailed methodology, along with experimental details, collated data, results and maps are presented in this paper.  相似文献

Coal combustion in power plants in India produces large quantities of coal-related wastes, e.g. fly ash and bottom ash. Indian coals used in power stations are of high ash content, thus resulting in the generation of large amounts of fly ash (~100 million tons/year). Combustion of coal results in enhanced concentration of most radionuclides found in waste materials. In the present work, an attempt has been made to assess the radiological impact of the Kolaghat thermal power plant in West Bengal, India. The fly ashes and coal from the power plant were analysed for 238U, 232Th and 40K by a NaI (Tl)-based gamma-ray spectrometer. The results show that 226Ra and 232Th range from 81.9-126 and 132-169 Bq/kg in fly ash and 25-50 and 39-55 Bq/kg in coal. These results are high compared to those of other thermal power plants of India. Hence, the Kolaghat fly ash has a significant amount of radioactivity which, if not properly disposed, will be a serious threat to the ambient environment.  相似文献

In course of systematic geological mapping in parts of Tuensang district of Nagaland, imprints of blueschist metamorphism associated with the ophiolite belt have been located. The tectonic conditions that allow the formation of blueschists can be related in space and time in the Naga suture developed during the upper Cretaceous and Eocene age, representing the collision boundary between the Indian and Chinese plates.
Zusammenfassung Im Laufe einer systematischen geologischen Kartierung in einigen Teilen Tuensangs im Nagaland wurde Blauschiefermetamorphose in einem ophiolitischen Gürtel festgestellt. Die tektonischen Bedingungen, die eine solche Entstehung von Blauschiefern erlauben, können in bezug auf Raum und Zeit mit der Naga-Nahtlinie korreliert werden. Die Naga-Nahtlinie entstand während der Unterkreide und des Eozäns. Sie bildet die Kollisionsgrenze zwischen der indischen und der chinesischen Platte.

Résumé Au cours d'un levé géologique systématique dans les régions du Tuensang, Nagaland, on a pu relever un léger métamorphisme à facies schiste bleu, associé à la ceinture ophiolitique. Les conditions tectoniques permettant la formation des schistes bleus peuvent être mises en liaison, dans l'espace et le temps, avec la «Naga suture», développée pendant le Crétacé supérieur et l'Eocène, et représentant la ligne de collision entre les plaques de l'Inde et de la Chine.

Fortyone successive flows of the Deccan Traps have been investigated at Mahabaleshwar, India, and the rocks from the twenty two different flows have been newly analysed. All of these basalts are silica-saturated tholeiites; and the series shows minor gradual variation with the order of eruption. These seem to be a result of magmatic differentiation somewhat similar to that shown in the Skaergaard intrusion.  相似文献

The utility of using fossil soils in addition to other sedimentologic evidence in reconstructing past environments is considered with a preliminary analysis of the character of pedogenic alteration of selected floodplain deposits which have yielded the hominoid primatesRamapithecus andDryopithecus in the vicinity of Haritalyangar, District Bilaspur, H. P., India. The alluvial paleosols studied reflect variance of properties which are related to original depositional fabric modified by secondary pedogenic processes. The Nagri aged paleosols of Haritalyangar are ferruginous tropical soils or low-grade oxisols developed on typical floodplain toposequences, all reflecting somewhat varied histories as a function of proximity to ancient active stream courses.
Zusammenfassung Es wird untersucht, inwieweit es für die Rekonstruktion des früheren Bildungsmilieus sinnvoll ist, in Verbindung mit anderen sedimentologischen Erscheinungen fossile Böden mit heranzuziehen, und zwar nach einer Analyse der Merkmale pedogenetischer Veränderungen in bestimmten Ablagerungen der Alluvialebenen in der Umgebung von Haritalyangar, Bilaspur, H. P., Indien, in denen die hominoiden PrimatenRamapithecus undDryopithecus gefunden worden sind. Die untersuchten alluvialen Paleoböden zeigen, verglichen mit der ursprünglichen Ablagerungsstruktur, Abweichungen in ihren Eigenschaften, die durch sekundäre pedogenetische Prozesse bestimmt sind.Die Paleoböden der Nagri-Stufe von Haritalyangar sind eisenreiche tropische Böden oder schwächere Oxiböden, die in den typischen Toposequenzen der Alluvialebenen entstanden sind und die aufgrund ihrer verschiedenen Entfernung zu alten Flußläufen alle eine etwas unterschiedliche Vergangenheit widerspiegeln.

Résumé On considère ici la possibilité d'utiliser des sols fossiles en plus d'autres évidences sedimentologiques pour reconstruire les environnements du passé. On présente aussi une analyse préliminaire des caractéristiques de modifications pédogéniques de certains sédiments de plaines alluviales, qui ont livré les primates hominoïdesRamapithecus etDryopithecus, au voisinage de Haritalyangar, district de Bilaspur, H. P., Inde. Les paléosols alluviaux étudiés révèlent diverses propriétés caractéristiques de dé pôts originaux, modifiés par des processus pédogéniques secondaires. Les vieux paléosols de Nagri, aux environs de Haritalyangar, sont des oxisols peu évolués, formés sur des séquence topographique typique de plaines alluviales. Tous reflètent quelque peu des stages divers selon leur proximité d'anciens cours fluviatiles actifs.

Hydrogeochemical investigations are carried out in the different blocks of Burdwan district, West Bengal, India in order to assess its suitability for drinking as well as irrigation water purpose. Altogether 49 representative groundwater samples are collected from bore wells and the water chemistry of various ions viz. Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, CO32−, HCO3, Cl, SO42− and NO3 are carried out. The chemical relationships in Piper and Gibbs diagram suggest that the groundwater mainly belongs to alkali type and Cl group and are controlled by rock dominance. A comparison of groundwater quality in relation to drinking water quality standards proves that most of the water samples are suitable for drinking water purpose whereas groundwater in some areas of the district has high salinity and high sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), indicating unsuitability for irrigation water and needs adequate drainage.  相似文献
