We show that the number of galaxies with ultraviolet excess in the Kiso catalog decreases rapidly as the inclincation of the galaxy to the line of sight increases. This effect is observed in spiral galaxies of both type Sk and type Sp. Moreover spiral galaxies that are steeply inclined to the line of sight are on the average weaker than galaxies viewed face-on. Spectral observations of 19 galaxies with UV-excesses from Kazarian’s list are reported. The spectra were obtained with the 2.6-m telescope at the Byurakan Observatory using the SCORPIO spectral camera. A grism was used to obtain spectra in the wavelength interval λλ7420-3920 Å. 43 spectra in which emission lines are mainly observed were obtained from the 19 galaxies, except for the spectra of Kaz 21, Kaz 178, Kaz 183, and Kaz 184. The spectra of Kaz 17, Kaz 151, Kaz 153, and Kaz 357 have type Sy2 galactic features. In the spectra of the galaxies Kaz 17, Kaz 151, and Kaz 153, absorption lines are observed along with high excitation emission lines such as HeI λ5876 Å and HeII λ4686 Å. The results of a morphological classification of 580 galaxies with a UV excess, included in the lists in [M. A. Kazarian, Astrofizika,15, 5 (1979); ibid.,15, 193 (1979); M. A. Kazarian and É. S. Kazarian, ibid.,16, 17 (1980); ibid.,18, 512 (1982); ibid.,19, 213 (1983)], are presented. For this we have developed a set of symbols, using the types E, S, and Ir introduced by Hubble, as well as symbols introduced by other authors and us. This set enabled us to make the morphological classification. Direct photographs obtained on the 2.6-m and 6-m telescopes were used to classify 141 of the galaxies (over 24%), while Palomar Atlas charts were used for the remaining 439 galaxies. These galaxies were divided into two groups based on classification conditions, and data on each group are given in Tables 1 and 2, respectively. The results for each group, given in Table 3, show that with the transition from early types, such as C and E, to later types, such as S and Ir, the relative number of galaxies going into one group (Table 1), in which the classification was based on direct photographs, increases in comparison with the number going into the other group (Table 2).Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 39, No. 3, pp. 431–439, July–September, 1996.  相似文献

This is a statistical study of galaxies with a UV excess. A sample of 702 Kazarian galaxies (KG) is used. The KGs are identified with objects from the MAPS, IRAS FSC, IRAS PSC, and NVSS catalogs. The O and E magnitudes are known for more than 92% of the KGs. It is shown that the KG sample is complete up to 16m.0 in the blue and to 16m.5 in the red. More than 36% of the KGs are identified with infrared (IR) sources at wavelengths of 12, 25, 60, and 100 m. Calculations of the far IR (FIR) luminosities show that 4% of the KGs are strong FIR emitters (LFIR ≥ 1011 L). More than 32% of the KGs have been identified as radio sources at a frequency of 1.4 GHz. A determination of the radio luminosities shows that the sample of KGs with known radial velocities include one powerful, LR ≥ 1025 W/Hz, radio object (Kaz 273) which is a BL Lac object. A close correlation (r=0.93) is bound between the FIR and radio luminosities for galaxies with a UV excess. An examination of the relationship between the FIR and radio luminosities for galaxies in different spectral classes shows that the correlation coefficient is higher (r=0.99) and the slope of the fit curve is larger (a=1.18) for Seyfert galaxies. Calculations of the logarithm of the ratio of the FIR and radio fluxes indicate that the sample includes 4 KGs with a radio excess, while there are none with an IR excess. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 50, No. 3, pp. 369–379 (August 2007).  相似文献

We present a list of 412 faint galaxies selected for their apparent ultraviolet excess (UVX) from an area of 30 square degrees centered on Kapteyn Selected Area 28. The objects have been selected from a three-colour (U, B, V) plate taken with the Palomar 48-inch Schmidt telescope.
