The effects of ion screening in stellar core collapses are investigated based on a new progenitor star model.Simulation results show that ion screening slightly affects the leptons and decreases explosion energy,which is a negative factor for energy transfer supernova explosions.We also investigate the effect on type Ⅱ-supernova explosions of neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering based on the new progenitor star model.It is shown that,compared with the previously calculated results,neutrinos-nucleus elastic scattering in stellar core collapses is more severe,leading to an obvious reduction of the neutrino leakage energy loss and an increase of supernova explosion energy.  相似文献

The UVIS dark matter detector, proposed by Spooner and Smith (Phys. Lett. B 314 (1993) 430), consists of < 1000 ppm Tl doped NaI scintillator operated at 100-200 K, with measurement of UV and visible scintillation components used to discriminate between electrons (gammas) and Na or I recoils. Presented here are results of measurements of the gamma/nuclear recoil discrimination power of a Kyropolous NaI (0.5 ppm Tl) UVIS test detector operated at 160 K, with monoenergetic neutrons used to induce nuclear recoils via elastic scattering. Defining the statistical gain factor for N events as , the coefficient Cm was measured as a function of photoelectron pulse height. At 40 photoelectrons Cm was found to be 0.5 (corresponding to 90% rejection of gammas with 20% loss of neutron events). The scintillation efficiency for Na and I recoils relative to electrons was also measured at 160 K and found to be 35 ± 5% for Na recoils and 10 ± 2% for iodine.  相似文献

Using Boltzmann-Fokker-Planck methods and the diffusion approximation, we derive coupled non-linear equations for the first two angular moments of the electron distribution function in the Earth's ionosphere. The theory includes a phenomenological treatment of photionization of the neutral species by an externally produced photon flux; electron-ion recombination; electronneutral particle attachment; elastic, excitation, deexcitation, and ionizing electron-neutral particle collisions; and elastic electron-electron and electron-ion collisions. At high and low energies, we obtain approximate analytic solutions for the steady-state electron distribution function. Under certain conditions we also obtain the standard continuous slowing-down formulae for the steady-state electron distribution function in the diffusion approximation.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to investigate generation of waves in an infinite micropolar elastic medium under the influence both of initial stressp and body forces X. The equation of motion has been solved applying the Fourier-Hankel transform. The final results, the displacement, the stress, the rotation, and the couple stress components have been obtained in analytical form as integrals involving Bessel function of first kind and of zero order.  相似文献

Comparisons of calculated diurnal and eclipse temperatures of the lunar outermost layer are made with Earth-based infrared and millimeter data. The thermophysical model upon which the calculations are based incorporates variable physical properties. The thermal conductivity is a function of both density (depth) and temperature; the specific heat is a function of temperature; the density is a function of depth; and the dielectric constant and loss tangent are functions of density (depth). Laboratory measurements and Apollo sample results are incorporated in the property data. Calculational cases are based largely upon different density profiles. The model is consistent with the data, and the comparisons of theoretical and observational temperatures are very favorable. For such comparisons, further sophistication of the thermophysical model of the outermost layer is probably not justified.  相似文献

Based on a recent communication by the present authors the question of energy dissipation in magnetohydrodynamical waves in an inflating background in general relativity is examined. It is found that the expanding background introduces a sort of dragging force on the propagating wave such that, unlike the Newtonian case, energy gets dissipated as it progresses. This loss in energy having no special-relativistic analogue is, however, not mechanical in nature as in case of an elastic wave. It is also found that the energy loss is model dependent and also depends on the number of dimensions.  相似文献

Estimates of the thickness of the ice shell of Europa range from <1 to >30 km. The higher values are generally assumed to be estimates of the entire ice shell thickness, which may include a lower ductile layer of ice, whereas many of the smaller thickness estimates are based on analyses that only consider that portion of the ice layer that behaves elastically at a particular strain rate. One example of the latter is flexure analysis, in which the elastic ice layer is modeled as a plate or sphere that is flexed under the weight of a surface load. We present calculations based on flexure analysis in which we model the elastic ice layer as flexing under a line-load caused by ridges. We use precisely located, parallel flanking cracks as indicators of the location of greatest tensile stress induced by flexure. Our elastic thickness results are spatially variable: ∼500-2200 m (two sites) and ∼200-1000 m (one site). Thorough analysis of Europan flexure studies performed by various researchers shows that the type of model selected causes the greatest variability in the thickness results, followed by the choice of Young's modulus, which is poorly constrained for the Europan ice shell. Comparing our results to those of previously published flexure analyses for Europa, we infer spatial variability in the elastic ice thickness (at the time of load emplacement), with smooth bands having the thinnest elastic ice thickness of all areas studied. Because analysis of flexure-induced fracturing can only reveal the elastic thickness at the time of load emplacement, calculated thickness variability between features having different ages may also reflect a temporal variability in the thickness of Europa's ice shell.  相似文献

The processes of elastic and inelastic scattering of neutrinos with medium components as well as -processes have been taken into account. We present a model for steady-state winds of systems with super-Eddington luminosities. These radiatively driven winds are expected to be optically thick and clumpy as they arise from an instability-driven porous atmosphere. The model is then applied to derive the mass loss observed in bright classical novae. The main results are as follows.
(i) A general relation between the mass-loss rate and the total luminosity in super-Eddington systems.
(ii) A natural explanation of the long-duration super-Eddington outflows that are clearly observed in at least two cases (Novae LMC 1988 #1 and FH Serpentis).
(iii) A qualitative agreement between the prediction and observations of the mass loss and temperature evolution.
(iv) An agreement between the predicted average integrated mass loss of novae as a function of white dwarf mass and its observations.
(v) A natural explanation for the 'transition phase' of novae.
(vi) Agreement with η Carinae, which was used to double check the theory: the prediction for the mass shed in the star's great eruption agrees with observations to within the measurement error.  相似文献

A photometric theory of Saturn's rings is developed on the assumption that partially elastic collisions have brought all the ring particles into the same plane. We examine the problem of the thermoelastic deformation of a spherical Earth with constant elastic parameters heated from within by the spontaneous decay of radiogenic elements.The problem consists of the simultaneous solution of the Navier-Stokes equation and the heat conduction equation. We reach an integrodifferential equation which we solve by means of the Laplace transform and the Green's function approach.We obtain analytic solutions for the temperature distribution and radial deformation as infinite series of functions of the radial distance and time, depending also on a sequence of eigenvalues. We provide particular solutions for the case when the two specific heats C p and C v are approximately equal. p ]We believe that our analytic results are applicable to the study of the oceanic lithosphere deformations. Our approach could be successfully applied to ascertain the deformation according to other regimes of internal heating.  相似文献

Love numbers of second order of Venus are calculated with resolving fundamental differential equations of elastic body according to the parameters of the density and the elasticity of material by means of the PVM94-01 Venus model. Meanwhile, the elastic energy of deformation of second order due to the tidal perturbation of the Sun and that due to rotational centrifugal potential are also calculated. The values of Love number provide a basis for model of internal structure of Venus. The numerical calculation of the elastic energy of deformation gives a magnitude evaluation of the perturbation terms to the Hamiltonian expressions in the study of dynamics of the elastic Venus. The cooling of electrons by vibrational and rotational excitation of water molecules plays an important role in the thermal balance of electrons in cometary ionospheres. The energy loss function for rotational excitation and de-excitation of H2O by electron impact is calculated theoretically. The rotational cooling rate is calculated using this loss function for a wide range of electron and neutral temperatures. The vibrational cooling rate is calculated using measured values of electron impact vibrational excitation cross sections. Analytical formulae are provided for some of the cooling rates. The interaction of ions with H2O molecules is also discussed and a formula is suggested for the momentum transfer collision frequency.  相似文献

The impact theory of spectral line broadening is used to obtain complete profiles for radio recombination lines perturbed by electron and proton impact. The collisions can be divided into two types: inelastic, where transitions take place between hydrogen levels with different principal quantum number n and elastic, where the transitions are only between degenerate levels for a particular value of n. The widths of the radio lines are essentially determined by inelastic electron collisions and elastic proton collisions with the emitting hydrogen atom occupying either the upper or lower levels of the line.Here, earlier work is extended to examine the contribution from proton collisions to the line width in more detail, and it is shown that the trends in the behaviour of the widths again confirm previous results.  相似文献

The equations for the viscous motion of a mixture of gas and dust in a gravitational field are derived from the statistics of particle orbits and radiative processes in a general form which gives the Navier-Stokes equation as a special case. The effects of partially elastic collisions on a dense system of particles moving in Keplerian orbits are studied. As in the case of a low-density system (Hämeen-Anttila, 1975), evolution leads to the formation of separate ringlets. The results reveal an anisotropic structure of matter, which may explain some peculiarities in the photometry of Saturn's rings.  相似文献

The superconducting proton condensate in the “npe” phase of a neutron star is considered. It is shown to be a type II superconductor in the outer layer of the “npe” phase and a type I superconductor in the inner layer. Relaxation times are found for elastic scattering of normal relativistic electrons from the magnetic fields of proton vortex clusters in the case of a type II superconductor and elastic scattering from the magnetic field at the center of a neutron vortex in the case of a superconductor of the first kind. The dynamical relaxation times obtained for the angular velocity of the pulsar PSR 0833—45 vary, as a function of the density of the layers taking part in the relaxation process, within a fairly wide range: from several hours to l09 years. This means that the characteristic times of variation of pulsar angular velocity may be observed to lie in the indicated time range. Using photoclinometry, topographic profiles across europan ridges have been produced. These profiles allow the identification of bulges in the terrain adjacent to the ridges. The bulges are assumed to have been produced by flexure of the elastic lithosphere due to the load of the ridges, which lie along cracks in the crust. The distance from the crack to these “fore-bulges” depends on the thickness of the elastic plate being flexed. Based on a survey of ridges in Galileo images with resolution <300 m/pixel, the thickness of the elastic lithosphere has been determined by this method at a wide variety of sites along the leading and trailing hemispheres of Europa. The average thickness is about 200 m. The elastic lithosphere underneath smooth dilational bands tends to be thicker than plains morphology, an effect that is pronounced at Thynia Linea and Astypalaea Linea. Among the ridges investigated here, more recent loading correlates with a thicker elastic lithosphere, which may either reflect an intrinsically thicker layer, or less viscous relaxation over the shorter time period.  相似文献
