The aim of the present paper is to find the eclipse perturbations, in the frequency-domain, of close eclipsing systems exhibiting partial eclipses.After a brief introduction, in Section 2 we shall deal with the evaluation of thea n (l) integrals for partial eclipses and give them in terms ofa 0 0 ,a 0 0 (of the associated -functions) and integrals; while Section 3 gives the eclipse perturbations arising from the tidal and rotational distortion of the two components. The are given for uniformly bright discs (h=1) as well as for linear and quadratic limb-darkening (h=2 and 3, respectively).Finally, Section 4 gives a brief discussion of the results and the way in which they can be applied to practical cases.  相似文献

We have studied the temporal variations in the north–south asymmetries of the differential rotation parameters A, B, and the mean rotation rate , by determining their values from Greenwich data for sunspot groups (1879–1976) in the northern and southern hemispheres, during moving time intervals of lengths 3 yr and 5 yr, successively displaced by 1 yr. The variation in the north–south asymmetry ( ) of is similar to the variation in the asymmetry (B ) of B but with opposite sign. These variations of and B may represent components of an anti-symmetric torsional oscillation which are in opposite phase with each other.The FFT and MEM analyses of the temporal variations of B , , and the north–south asymmetry (A ) of A, show existence of significant periodicities: 45.5 ± 11.5 yr,21.3 ± 4.5 yr, 13.3 ± 1.5 yr, and 10.5 ± 0.5 yr. These analyses also show a few other possible periodicities in A , B , and . All these periodicities are also seen in the north–south asymmetry of sunspot activity (with similar relative magnitudes). The 22-yr periodicity was seen in even-parity modes of magnetic field inferred from sunspot data.  相似文献

Values of the photometric perturbations required in the frequency-domain analysis for the accurate determination of parameters characterizing stars in eclipsing binary systems when some degree of proximity effect complications are present in the light curves are tabulated, corresponding to a wide range of such parameters. The relative smallness of the perturbation values permit a rapidly convergent iterative approach to the final parameter specification. Also, in view of the relative smallness, linear interpolation from the table over a wider range of nontabulated parameters should be effective in assessing the effects of the perturbations in a general case. The illustrative application to the light curve of RT Per appears to confirm this.  相似文献

Analytical techniques are employed to demonstrate certain invariant properties of families of moon-to-earth trajectories. The analytical expressions which demonstrate these properties have been derived from an earlier analytical solution of the restricted three-body problem which was developed by the method of matched asymptotic expansions. These expressions are given explicitly to orderµ 1/2 where is the dimensionless mass of the moon. It is also shown that the inclusion of higher order corrections does not affect the nature of the invariant properties but only increases the accuracy of the analytic expressions.The results are compared with the work of Hoelker, Braud, and Herring who first discovered invariant properties of earth-to-moon trajectories by exact numerical integration of the equations of motion. (Similar properties for moon-to-earth trajectories follow from the principle of reflection). In each instance the analytical expressions result in properties which are equivalent, to orderµ 1/2, with those found by numerical integration. Some quantitative comparisons are presented which show the analytical expressions to be quite accurate for calculating particular geometrical characteristics.

The diffusion of charged particles through a weak stochastic electro-magnetic field which is superimposed on a constant background magnetic field is considered. The stochastic electromagnetic fields are assumed to consist of unpolarized Alfvén waves propagating at arbitrary angles to the direction . When the Alfvén waves are propagating in directions other than and the particle gyro-radius,r g, is sufficiently large (but may be smaller than the correlation length of the stochastic fields) it is shown that the particle flux perpendicular to the direction is , wherev is the particle speed andf the particle density. The expression forK differs from those calculated by previous authors. For small particle gyro-radii the flux S has a different functional form and is identical to that found by Urch (1977) to describe particle diffusion when the Alfvén waves only propagate in the direction .  相似文献

In this paper we introduce the CM field in Sections 2 and 3 based on the paper by Wang and Peng (1985), and calculate the light curved in the CM field in Section 4. The result shows thatP makes CM larger than C at , and smaller at . Under a special circumstance which source, CM lens, and observer are in the same line, if we get | 0=0 , and | =/2 , we can determine theP(M) andQ(M) of the CM lens,M is the mass of the CM lens.  相似文献

In this paper two sets of improved approximate expressions of emissivity , absorptivity , effective temperature Teff, and frequency of peak brightness _p of gyrosynchrotron radiation are presented respectively for the ranges from 5 to 10 and 10 to 100 of harmonic numbers s(= /_B). The expressions are designed for the range from 20° to 80° of viewing angle , and the range 2 to 7 of electron energy spectral index . They are expressed by a power-law function in which the indexes are fitted by polynomial expressions of . Their statistical errors are, respectively, 24% and 32% for and for and 28% for . Their accuracies are much better than those of linear fitting of the power-law index.  相似文献

A theoretical model for3He enrichments in solar energetic particles is developed. First, current-driven, electrostatic instabilities that have frequencies ( is the cyclotron frequency of3He) are investigated for a plasma consisting of H,4He,3He, and electrons with the density of3He much lower than those of H and4He. It is found that in many cases the oblique ion-acoustic waves can have positive growth rates at frequencies and, at the same time, negative growth rates at and at H. This can occur near the marginal state of the instability. The wave damping at these frequencies is caused by the cyclotron resonances of4He and H. The cyclotron damping at is negligible, however, because the abundance of3He is very small. The H cyclotron waves can be unstable at for a wide region of plasma parameters; the electron-to-ion temperature ratio must beT e /T H 1.5. To destabilize the4He cyclotron waves with , high4He density and high electron temperature are both required. Then,3He enrichments are studied on the basis of the theory of nonlinear magnetosonic waves, which can promptly accelerate ions. The current-driven electrostatic waves with can enhance fluctuation velocities of3He. Thus, in the presence of these waves, magnetosonic waves can selectively accelerate3He particles to high energies. Finally, cyclotron resonances of heavy ions with the waves or are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The following points are discussed:
(i)  The dependence of the angular velocity, , on the spatial coordinates near the lower boundary, R c, of the solar convection zone (SCZ) can be obtained from an integration with respect to r of a sound approximation to the azimuthal equation of motion. Here P 2 (cos ) is the second-order Legendre polynomial and is the polar angle. Estimates of 0, 2 (the primes denote derivatives with respect to r), based on the best available values for the Reynolds stresses and anisotropic viscosity coefficients, suggest that 0 < 0,=">2 0 for r = R c. Since a reliable theory of anisotropic turbulent coefficients does not exist at present, positive values of 0 are conceivable.
(ii)  In the lower SCZ the latitudinal variations of the superadiabatic gradient vanish if is constant along cylinders. The uniformity of the superadiabatic gradient is, however, inconsequential: the physically meaningful rotation law is the one that insures the uniformity of the convective flux.
(iii)  With the exception of the polar regions, the angular momentum transport in thin azimuthal convective rolls is towards the equator.
(iv)  It is suggested that buoyancy uncorrelates horizontally separated regions in the lower SCZ preventing the generation of magnetic fields with small wave numbers: in consequence, the cycle magnetic field must be generated in a region of weak buoyancy whereas the lower SCZ generates a weak rather stochastic magnetic field. The dependence on rotation of these two types of magnetic field could differ.
(v)  In the context of helioseismology it is customary to expand the perturbations (induced by rotation) of the eigenfrequencies in the following form: , where the notation is standard. The observations reveal that to a good approximation a 1 is independent of l. It is shown that this is the case if is constant with r. For a simple viscous, rotating fluid in the steady state (r) is constant with r if the angular momentum loss vanishes. Let J(ri dr) be the angular momentum of a thin shell of radius r and thickness dr. Since , the constancy of (r) implies that each shell of radius r has the same angular momentum as if the Sun were rotating uniformly with an angular velocity given by . It is discussed whether, alternatively, the observations simply indicate that 0(r) is a slowly varying function of r.

Weight functions for the determination of the periods of linear adiabatic non-radial oscillations have been calculated in the same manner as Epstein's classic treatment of purely radial oscillations. Quadrupole (l=2) oscillations for thef and lower orderp andg-modes were considered. One group of static models were polytropes in the range 1.0n4.0 with ; thus included were configurations that were convectively stable, unstable and neutrally stable throughout. Another group consisted ofn=3.0 polytropes with convective shells or convective cores; 1 was set at different values in each region in order to produce stability ( ) or instability ( ). The weight function provides a pictorial means for assessing the relative importance of each region of a given static model with respect to generating a given non-radial mode.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper has been to generalize the method, developed by Kopal (1976), for the evaluation of the photometric proximity effects (between minima as well as within eclipses) of distorted eclipsing systems. The very young open star cluster NGC 2362 was investigated by the strip method on charts of two photographs taken with the 1-m Schmidt telescope of the European Southern Observatory. Up to the limiting magnitudeM v * =5 . m 8 the cluster contains 100 stars and can be described by the Gaussian density law (6). Further results are: Mass = 246 , central mass density 0 = 43.1 = 246 pc-3 , radiusR2.6 pc, mean velocity of the stars = 0.64 km s–1.

For Jupiter, an overall density model of the form= 0(1–x n ), withn1/3 and , is consistent with information presently at hand; for Saturn, however, such a density law would lead to unacceptably high densities in the vicinity of the centre. The limiting cases of the previous law are shown to ben=+, corresponding to a homogeneous sphere, andn=–3, corresponding to a particular central particle model, investigated by a number of astronomers over the last hundred years. Forn0, the central density becomes +. Another possible representation, valid both for Jupiter and Saturn, is the density law= 0(1–x) m ), with in the case of Jupiter, and in the case of Saturn. Graber's density law based on a maximum entropy principle leads to unacceptably high surface densities, both for Jupiter and Saturn. Finally, the paper investigates the problems involved in fitting two-layered parametrically simple density laws to theoretically derived much more elaborate models of the Jovian planets.  相似文献

We have looked for periodicities in solar differential rotation on time scales shorter than the 11-year solar cycle through the power- spectrum analysis of the differential rotation parameters determined from Mt. Wilson velocity data (1969–1994) and Greenwich sunspot group data (1879–1976). We represent the differential rotation by a set of Gegenbauer polynomials (()= + (5sin2–1)+ (21sin4–14sin2+1)). For the Mt. Wilson data, we focus on observations obtained after 1981 due to the reduced instrumental noise and have binned the data into intervals of 19 days. We calculated annual averages for the sunspot data to reduce the uncertainty and corrected for outliers occuring during solar cycle minima. The power spectrum of the photospheric mean rotation , determined from the velocity data during 1982–1994, shows peaks at the periods of 6.7–4.4 yr, 2.2 ± 0.4 yr, 1.2 ± 0.2 yr, and 243 ± 10 day with 99.9% confidence level, which are similar to periods found in other indicators of solar activity suggesting that they are of solar origin. However, this result has to be confirmed with other techniques and longer data sets. The 11-yr periodicity is insignificant or absent in . The power spectra of the differential rotation parameters and , determined from the same subset, show only the solar cycle period with a 99.9% confidence level.The time series of determined from the yearly sunspot group data obtained during 1879–1976 is very similar to the corresponding time series of . After correcting for data with large error bars (occurring during cycle minima), we find periods, which are most likely harmonics of the solar cycle, such as 18.3 ± 3.0 yr and 7.5 ± 0.5 yr in and confirmed these and the 3.0 ± 0.1 yr period in . The original time series show in addition some shorter periods, absent in the corrected data, representing temporal variations during cycle minimum. Given their large error bars, it is uncertain whether they represent a solar variation or not. The results presented here show considerable differences in the periodicities of and determined from the velocity data and the spot group data. These differences may be explained by assuming that the rotation rates determined from velocity and sunspot data represent the rotation rates of the Sun's surface layers and of somewhat deeper layers.  相似文献

A reliable representation to the invariant cross-section for the production of antiprotons ( ) in inclusive reactions has been obtained, which fits the data extremely well from threshold to ISR energies. Using this, the production spectrum of by cosmic ray interaction with interstellar gas is calculated and is compared with other existing calculations. The equilibrium spectrum in the Galaxy has been derived from about 100 MeV to a few hundred GeV in kinetic energy using Leaky Box Model for the propagation of cosmic rays, by taking into account all energy loss processes. It is found that /P ratio calculated here is very much smaller than the observed ratio. In view of the fact that this excess of observed /P ratio is much larger than the measured upper limits on the fraction of antimatter in the form of antinuclei, the excess /P ratio has not been attributed to the existence of antimatter. Instead, it is shown that Closed Galaxy Model for the propagation of cosmic rays predicts more antiprotons than observed. Therefore, it is suggested that if cosmic rays contain about 50% new component of local origin, the resulting Closed Galaxy Model explains well the observations. The present calculations also predict too small a flux of below a few hundred MeV to make this energy region ideally suited to look for antiprotons of primordial origin.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper will be to detail the procedure outlined in our previous investigations (Kopal, 1975; Kopalet al., 1976) for a solution of the elements of distorted eclipsing systems by a Fourier analysis of their light changes. This procedure—which constitutes an equivalent, in the frequency-domain, of rectification hitherto practised in the time-domain — should enable us to free the observed momentsA 2m of the light curves from all photometric effects of distortion (between minima as well as within eclipses) — a feat impossible in the time-domain except under very restricted conditions — and thus to make it possible to obtain the geometrical elements of the eclipses which should be free from any obvious source of systematic errors.  相似文献

A physically based explanation is given for the distribution of flare energies N(E)E where 1.5. In contrast to previous approaches, the present treatment is based on a physical theory of the flare reconnection site. The central assumption is that topological flare energy, although released explosively, is slowly accumulated over several hundred Alfvén timescales. When coupled to the geometric properties of the reconnective flare source, this assumption is shown to lead naturally to a deduction of the flare energy distribution. Current sheet models yield the exponent whereas more compact current structures imply steeper spectra .  相似文献

A new polarimeter is described which allows the simultaneous determination of the four Stokes parameters analysing the electric signal both in frequency and phase. The signal consists of two frequencies and 2 . From the 2 component the amount and the azimuth of linearly polarized light is obtained by using a two-phase lock-in amplifier (or two separate amplifiers). From the component the circular polarization is obtained. Instrumental and spurious effects, caused by rotating elements, are avoided. We consider a simple model in which the coronal magnetic field B is assumed to be potential in the region between the solar surface o and an exterior source-surface 1 of arbitrary shape. We prove that the boundary value problem that determines B from the value B lof its component on 0 along either (orthoradial direction) or (fixed direction) has at most one solution. Vibrational transition probabilities, namely Franck—Condon factors and -centroids have been evaluated by an approximate analytical method for the (A–X), (A–X), and (A–X) system of YO molecule. Morse potential energy curves forX 2+,A 22,A22, andA22, states of YO have been constructed using the latest spectroscopic data. The value of -centroids for the band have been found to decrease linearly with the corresponding wavelengths. We show results for two new transitions of (A–X) and (A–X) and five new bands of (A–X) of YO in the umbral spectrum of the Sun.  相似文献
