U–Pb dating of zircon from amphibole latite of the central stock of the Nikolka shield volcano in Kamchatka provided the first data on its age. The end of activity falls to about 0.73 Ma (10 analyses). The local U–Pb analyses were carried out at the Isotope Research Center, Schmidt Joint Institute of Physics of the Earth (St. Petersburg) (VSEGEI) using SIMS SHRIMP II. Here, brief information about the geological structure, petrography, and chemistry of the rocks of the volcano are presented. A unique feature of the volcano is the occurrence of a gabbro–anorthosite sheet intrusion with derivates of monzonite and syenite composition in its central part. The correlation of the age obtained with the paleomagnetic data, indicating the formation of the volcano during the magnetic age of Matuyama, is also discussed. The date refers to the period of the change in epochs from the Brunhes to the Matuyama. The obtained age allows dating of the Pliocene volcanic stage in Kamchatka, when large shield volcanoes and plateaus formed.  相似文献

The results of U—Th—Pb (LA-ICP-MS) geochronological studies of detrital zircons from terrigenous rocks of the Dzhida terrane of the Central Asian Fold Belt (CAFB) are presented. The data obtained allow us to distinguish the following age maxima (Ma): 578 and 634 (Vendian); 720, 823, and 919 (Late Riphean); 1922, 2090, 2225, and 2321 (Early Proterozoic). A number of zircons have Late Archean age in the interval of 2670–2980 Ma. Taking into account Late Cambrian age (504–506 Ma) of intrusive rocks that intruded the Dzhida terrane, a possible sedimentation period of sequences of this terrane is estimated to be in the interval of 580–510 Ma (from Vendian to Late Cambrian). The possible provenance areas of terrigenous sediments are proposed and the previously proposed models of geodynamic evolution of the Dzhida terrane are correlated with new geochronological data.  相似文献

For the first time, the U–Pb age is determined for detrital zircons of quartzite–schist sequences, which are part of the Precambrian basement of the Aktau–Mointy Block (Central Kazakhstan) along with Neoproterozoic felsic volcanic (925–920 Ma) and granitic (945–917 Ma) rocks [6]. We analyzed 219 zircon grains from small-grained quartzites of the northern part of the block (Mt. Bol’shoi Alabas) including 206 grains with concordant age (1149–1273, 1276–1975, 2354–2592 Ma). These ages indicate the Mesoproterozoic, Paleoproterozoic, and Neoarchean rocks as provenances. The youngest statistically significant age peak of 1209 Ma indicates that the quartzite–schist sequences accumulated 1200–900 Ma ago (at the end of the Mesoproterozoic and beginning of the Neoproterozoic) prior to the formation of the Early Neoproterozoic felsic rocks and granites.  相似文献

The first results of U–Pb SIMS geochronological and Nd–Sr isotope–geochemical studies of the Yurovka Complex metavolcanics and granitoids of the Luktur Complex belonging to the Yurovka Swell yielded a Paleoproterozoic age of their formation pointing to a considerable Paleoproterozoic continental crust formation event. Results of U–Th–Pb LA–ICP–MS analysis of detrital zircons from metasandstones of the Chiney Subgroup (Udokan Group, Aldan Shield) have been obtained. It has been revealed that rocks of the Paleoproterozoic (about 1.90, 1.98, and 2.50 Ga) and Neoarchean (2.55 and 2.72 Ga) were their provenance sources. Deposition of the Chiney Subgroup occurred in the interval 1.87–1.90 Ga and was separated in time from the accumulation of the Kodar Subgroup siliciclastics (2.1–2.3 Ga).  相似文献

Upper Precambrian basement of the Pechora Basin that is located between the Urals and Timan and is a part of the Pechora plate lies beneath 1–7 km of Ordovician-Cenozoic sediment cover. On the base of geophysical data and drilling the basement of the Pechora plate is subdivided into the Timan crustal block and the Bolshezemel crustal block which differ by composition and the character of magmatism. The boundary between the crustal blocks is a system of deep faults called the Pripechora and Ilych-Chikshino faults that strike in a northwestern direction, extending from the Urals to the Pechora Sea. Granitoids of Charkayu complex which were penetrated by several deep boreholes in Pripechora fault zone are interpreted as suprasubduction (island arc and collision) magmas associated with the Timan orogeny. First U–Pb dating (SIMS, using SHRIMP-II and SHRIMP-RG) of zircons from granitoids indicate that granitoid magmatism which accompanied the final stages of the Timanide orogeny occurred in the Late Vendian about 555–544 Ma. The age of zircons from granites of the 1-Charkayu borehole is 544 ± 6 Ma, from granites of 1-East Charkayu borehole is 545 ± 5 Ma, and from granodiorites of 1-South Charkayu borehole is 555 ± 2 Ma.  相似文献
