Sudden brightening of FeII and Balmer (H and H) lines of X Oph was observed on 28–29 May, 1986. Equivalent width of FeII and H lines increased by a factor of two and that for H line by a factor of four, during the brigtening phase of the star. This brightening phenomena has been explained in the framework of Coronal Radiative Instability.  相似文献

The equivalent widths of the oxygen lines at 7774 and 8446 and of H (and some H) have been measured for 22 early-type, emission-line stars. A strong correlation between H and 8446 intensities has been found, although there is no such correlation between H and 7774. This confirms the probability that Bowen's mechanism is operative (the neutral oxygen 33 D state is overpopulated because the excitation energy of Ly- nearly coincides with that of theOi 1025 line). The possibility of using 8446 and H equivalent widths for a comparison of oxygen to hydrogen abundances in these stars is discussed.  相似文献

Fine dark H filaments fibrils form at the limb, apparently in most of the middle chromosphere corresponding to an altitude between 1500–2000 km and 4000 km. The space in between filaments is corona and the transition layer. The cool gas in fibrils is protected by the magnetic field against the conductive flux out of the hot corona. Therefore the fibrils stretch up to 4000 km where their temperature is about 18 000 K and the density about 5 × 109 cm–3. The gas in the fibrils is ionized by electronic collisions and by the external ultraviolet radiation. The second level of the hydrogen atoms in fibrils is populated by recombinations, electronic collisions and by Ly- quanta. The calculated optical thickness of the fibrils in H is about 1, it explains the absorption features on the spectroheliograms. The gas pressure in fibrils is lower than the coronal pressure, and the pressure equilibrium is achieved by a magnetic field of about 1.5–2 G. In the active regions the photospheric fields are stronger, therefore the fibrils in active regions are wider and show more contrast. The emission of the fibrils at the limb is explained by the scattering of the solar radiation. The temperature in arches reaching as high as 5000–6000 km, is stabilized near the top by the HeII emission. Thus the middle chromosphere is essentially a collection of magnetic arches.  相似文献

During a coordinated SMY program, the consecutive formation of two new active centers merging together within AR 2646 was observed from 28 August, to 5 September, 1980. The two preceding spots compressed an inverse polarity spot on 1 September 1980, causing recurrent ejecta of matter with time intervals around 10 min. The observations of the MSDP spectrograph operating in H at the Meudon Solar tower and of the UVSP spectrometer on SMM in the Civ 1548 Å line show that cold and hot material had the same projection, although the upward Civ velocity structure was more extended than the H one. We present evidence that observed contrasts of the H absorbing structure can be interpreted in terms of a dynamic cloud model overlying the chromosphere. H matter follows a magnetic channel with upward velocity around 20–30 km s–1 in the first phase of the event and with downward velocity ( - 40 km s–1) in the second phase. The stored energy is not sufficient to trigger a flare, nor even to propulse matter along the full length of an arch, because of the periodic reorganisation of the magnetic field.  相似文献

We have examined seven active regions of the Skylab period in the EUV (Harvard College Observatory), and in H and K3 (Observatoire de Meudon, spectroheliograms and patrols) in order to elucidate the magnetic geometry in the coronal environment of filaments. We have also looked for signatures of magnetic reconfigurations associated with instabilities (i.e. velocities or disappearances) of filaments. Out of sixteen H filaments observed, six were stable (lifetime 48h). All the filaments lay within coronal cavities as seen in lines formed above 1.5 × 106 K (Mgx 625, Sixii 521, Fexvi 417, Fexv 361). None of the stable filaments had arcades or arches spanning the cavities except (sometimes) at the ends of the filaments. On the other hand, most (8/10) of the unstable filaments (having concurrent Doppler shifts or a subsequent DB within 24h) had arcades or single arches spanning their cavities. The arches were observed in EUV lines with formation temperatures as low as 2–4 × 105 K (Oiv 554, Ovi 1032, Ne vii 465), as well as in hotter lines. A statistical test shows that the arcade/instability vs non-arcade/stability association is significant at the 99% confidence level. We suggest 2 types of scenario relating arcades to instabilities. The more preferable scenario is closely related to the Kuperus/Van Tend model of filament disruptions.  相似文献

We have compared the structures seen on X-ray images obtained by a flight of the NIXT sounding rocket payload on July 11, 1991 with near-simultaneous photospheric and chromospheric structures and magnetic fields observed at Big Bear. The X-ray images reflect emission of both Mgx and Fexvi, formed at 1 × 106 K and 3 × 106 K, respectively. The brightest H sources correspond to a dying sub-flare and other active region components, all of which reveal coronal enhancements situated spatially well above the H emission. The largest set of X-ray arches connected plages of opposite polarity in a large bipolar active region. The arches appear to lie in a small range of angle in the meridian plane connecting their footpoints. Sunspots are dark on the surface and in the corona. For the first time we see an emerging flux region in X-rays and find the emission extends twice as high as the H arches. Many features which we believe to correspond to X-ray bright points (XBPs) were observed. Whether by resolution or spectral band, the number detected greatly exceeds that from previous work. All of the brighter XBPs correspond to bipolar H features, while unipolar H bright points are the base of more diffuse comet-like coronal arches, generally vertical. These diverge from individual features by less than 30°, and give a good measure of what the canopies must do. The H data shows that all the H features were present the entire day, so they are not clearly disappearing or reappearing. We find a new class of XBPs which we call satellite points, elements of opposite polarity linked to nearby umbrae by invisible field lines. The satellite points change rapidly in X-ray brightness during the flight. An M1.9 flare occurred four hours after the flight; examination of the pre-flare structures reveals nothing unusual.  相似文献

The assumption of a linearly expanding universe for the JBD-cosmological equations generates a set of solutions for the barotropic equations of statep= (=const.). These solutions turn out to be valid for closed space-except in the casep= which is for open space. The gravitational constant which is inversely proportional to the scalar field increases with time if >–1/3 and decreases for <–1/3. No solution exists for =1/3. The Brans-Dicke parameter is negative if <–1/3.  相似文献

A photoelectric Fabry-Pérot spectrometer is used to record the line profiles of H and [Nii] at 22 points in the nebula. The ratio of intensity H/[Nii] is used to derive an electron temperature distribution with values between 5700° and 9100° showing a peak at the centre of density. These temperatures are compared with the H Doppler temperatures to estimate excess velocities of mass motion. Together with the shifts of the H line centres, these lead to an evaluation of the velocity field in the nebula. It is suggested that the nebula consists of a core expanding at about ±10 km/sec–1 surrounded by a thick peripheral shell in which large scale mass motions are small. Non-thermal broadening suggesting turbulent velocities at about the speed of sound is observed in this shell and is attributed to small scale dynamic effects in a non-smooth density distribution. The effect of such expanding cores on heliocentric velocities of galacticHii regions is discussed.  相似文献

Flaring arches
Flaring arches is a name assigned to a particular component of some flares. This component consists of X-ray and H emission which traverses a coronal arch from one to the other of its chromospheric footpoints. The primary footpoint is at the site of a flare. The secondary footpoint, tens of thousands of kilometers distant from the source flare, but in the same active region, brightens in H concurrent with the beginning of the hard X-ray burst at the primary site. From the inferred travel time of the initial exciting agent we deduce that high speed electron streams travelling through the arch must be the source of the initial excitation at the secondary footpoint. Subsequently, a more slowly moving agent gradually enhances the arch first in X-rays and subsequently in H, starting at the primary footpoint and propagating along the arch trajectory. The plasma flow in H shows clearly that material is injected into the arch from the site of the primary footpoint and later on, at least in some events, a part of it is also falling back. Thus a typical flaring arch has three, and perhaps four consecutive phases: (1) An early phase characterized by the onset of hard X-ray burst and brightening of the secondary footpoint in H. (2) The main X-ray phase, during which X-ray emission propagates through the arch. (3) The main H phase, during which H emitting material propagates through the arch. And (4) an aftermath phase when some parts of the ejected material seem to flow in the reverse direction towards the primary site of injection. An extensive series of flaring arches was observed from 6 to 13 November, 1980 at the Big Bear Solar Observatory and with the Hard X-Ray Imaging Spectrometer (HXIS) on board the SMM in a magnetically complex active region. The two most intense arches for which complete H and X-ray data are available and which occurred on 6 November at 17 21 UT (length 57000 km) and on 12 November at 16 57 UT (length 263 000 km) are discussed in this paper.  相似文献

Motions in arch filament systems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A new analysis of H filtergrams and H spectra of arch filament systems (AFS) shows that material flows downwards in both branches of the arch filaments (v 50 km/sec) while the top of the arches ascends (v 10 km/sec). It is suggested that AFS are produced by the magnetic field which expands, between growing spots, into higher levels carrying material with it that subsequently slides down along the magnetic field following gravity.AFS are also visible in the K line of Caii; however, there they appear less pronounced than in H and they are less conspicuous than the K-line quiescent filaments. There is some indication that AFS just cover a supergranulum (Ca network cell) with material streaming down at the border of the cell.No indication was found for a close relationship between AFS and flares.Mitteilung aus dem Fraunhofer Institut Nr. 91.  相似文献

K X-ray line emission from S, Ar, Ca and Fe is calculated for conditions likely to exist in solar flares. We consider both the non-thermal and thermal phases of flares as indicated by X-ray observations. Impulsive non-thermal events seen at the onset of a flare at photon energies > 20 keV generally give rise to small K line fluxes (<250 photons cm-2 s-1) on the basis of data presented by Kane and Anderson. The amount of S K radiation in particular depends sensitively on the lower-energy bound of the non-thermal electron distribution giving rise to the impulsive burst, offering a possible means of determining this. Thermal K emission is significant for only Fe ions. For S, Ar and Ca, the temperatures required for a sizeable number of electrons with energies greater than the K-ionization potential will also strip these elements to ionization stages too high for K transitions to be possible. Comparison of thermal K emission from iron during an intense solar flare leads to a very high emission measure on the basis of these calculations, but such a value seems to be compatible with an analysis of the 1–3 Å continuum during the same event.NAS/NRC Resident Research Associate.Visiting Scientist, High Altitude Observatory, NCAR, Boulder, Colo. 80302.  相似文献

A one-zone model for the late time SN II energized by the radioactive decay56Ni–56Co–56Fe is presented. The model succeeds in reproducing for the late time evolution of H and [Oi] 6300 emission lines in SN1970g for the reasonable set of parameters: mass of ejecta 4M , boundary velocityv 0=4000 km s–1 and amount of56NiM Ni=0.02M . However, a one-zone model does not account for the late time continuum. In the case of SN1980k the radioactive model fits H and [Oi] 6300 emissions att250 day satisfactory but fails at very late time, e.g.,t=670 day when the predicted value of the ratioL(H)/L(6300) is two orders of magnitude smaller than the observed one. We suggest that the strong H emission in SN1980k on the 670th day is due to the interaction of the supernova envelope with the pre-SN wind. The radioactive model for the late time SN II predicts strong Mgii 2800 line and detectable Hei 10830 line in emission and absorption.  相似文献

We use the Cerenkov line emission mechanism to give a new explanation of the observed intensity ratios, particularly the L/H ratio, of the emission lines of quasars. We give equations that restrict the choice of the parameter values. The parameters are the characteristic energy of the relativistic electrons, the number density of neutral hydrogen and its relative level populations. With reasonable choice of the parmaeters, we can obtain calculated L/H, H/H, P/H ratios in agreement with observed values. Our estimate for the gas density in the broad line region of quasars is 1015 cm–3, very different from previous estimates. Unlike previous theories, such a high density causes no difficulties with the Cerenkov line emission.  相似文献

The asymptotic properties of a turbulent disk dynamo at large dimensionless numbersR andR characterizing the helicity and the differential rotation are analysed. Three types of generations in the dependence of the relations betweenR andR are found: 2-dynamo and two types of -dynamo. For each of these types the rates of growth are obtained and the forms of solution are pointed out. Boundaries of the disk dynamo approximation are given.  相似文献

A sequence of images taken at different positions in the resonance lines of Ca ii, Mg ii, and H i was obtained over a quiescent prominence with the LPSP instrument on OSO-8. Ca ii K (and H) profiles are reconstructed at different locations in the prominence with a (10 × 5) arc sec2 resolution. Significant variations of FWHM and line shifts are found: FWHM range from 0.14 Å to 0.5 Å; blue shifts reach about 14 km s-1. The ratio of K to H absolute intensities shows a large spread around the average value of 1.2. The same ratio for the Mg ii lines in the whole prominence is higher (1.7), a fact already noticed at the edge of an active prominence (Vial et al., 1979). The ionization degree, as measured by the L/Ca K ratio, shows noticeable variations within the prominence. The L intensity is about 0.3 times the intensity measured in the quiet Sun, and the L/L ratio is less than one half the disk value. These results indicate important variations of the thermal conditions inside the prominence.DASOP, Observatoire de Paris, 92190 Meudon, France.  相似文献

We analyze a time series of high resolution observations near the solar limb, obtained in H and the Mg b1 line. We identified arch-shaped dark mottles, which are thin, faint H structures observable under very good seeing conditions, best seen in H +0.75 Å. Their mean length is about 15, their mean height about 6 and indicative lifetimes is of the order of 5 min. They show negative (away from the observer) line-of-sight velocities. A possible interpretation is that material flows from the apex towards the feet of the arches.  相似文献

Simultaneous spectra of spicules in H, H and the Ca ii K have been analyzed. These spectra were obtained with the échelle spectrograph of Sacramento Peak Observatory and have a resolution of 1.5 s of arc. Data include absolute intensities, velocities, linewidths and the optical depth at the center of H. Electron densities range between 6 × 1010cm–3 and 1.2 × 1011cm–3, while the range of the electron temperature is between 12000K and 15000K at a height of 5400 km above the limb. The analysis of the variation of the line of sight velocity across spicules shows that their rotation is very small. There is very good correlation in the structure of all three lines.  相似文献

We find that the profile changes observed for the UV emission lines L,Civ 1549, and MgIII 2798, in the Seyfert 1 galaxy Fairall 9 occur mainly near the line centre for L andCiv and in the wings for MgIII. These results indicate that the broad line region (BLR) has a complex structure, possibly with non-spherical components.Paper presented at the 11th European Regional Astronomical Meetings of the IAU on New Windows to the Universe, held 3–8 July, 1989, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.  相似文献

We present observational data in the (16)(9)(25)-photometric system for 11 Wolf-Rayet stars and 7 planetary nebulae. The results show anomalous (16)(9)-indices for these emission objects. Six W-R stars show possible variations in the strength of the HeII line at 6560 Å, perhaps none in the strength of the HeI line at 10830 Å. In spite of these misconstrued (16) and (9)-indices, most WC stars are separated from WN stars in the (16)(9)-array; and PN, in this diagram lie far apart from all kind of stellar objects. The results, yielded by the (25)-index, indicate that the HeI and HeII lines at 10830 Å and 10124 Å, respectively, are probably well suited for photometric examination in W-R stars, PN and other peculiar objects.Paper presented at the 11th European Regional Astronomical Meetings of the IAU on New Windows to the Universe, held 3–8 July, 1989, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.  相似文献
