Summary The article describes lunar daily magnetic variation inH, D andZ components of the earth's magnetic field at Istanbul. Maximum occurs at 10.03 l.hr. (lunar hour) in theH component, 3.38 l.hr. in theD and 2.15 l.hr. in theZ component, during the period 1949 to 1968. Also, the seasonal variation of the lunar magnetic variation has been determined and it is seen that the variation of the phase inD andZ are opposite from the phase of the lunar variation inH, and the amplitudes of the lunar variation inH, D andZ are greatest during the northern solstice.  相似文献

Summary After general definitions in1 and deducing a special method in2, it will be shown in3 on a simple concrete example the effectiveness of the simultaneous interpretation of two series of data belonging two different geophysical methods, namely, it can be determined in the simultaneous way deep values, too, although both methods, separately, are not capable under the given conditions even for estimation of the great order of the deep. In4 there are some conclusions; above all it is emphasized for any geophysical method the necessity and importance of the general applicable form of the interpretation procedures.  相似文献

Summary Solar and lunar geomagnetic tides inH at Alibag have been determined by spectral analysis of discrete Fourier transforms following the method of Black and the well-known Chapman-Miller method. The seasonal variation inL 2(H) is opposite to that inL 2(D) with maximum in thed season and minimum in thej season. In bothH andD the enhancement due to sunspot activity is larger in lunar tide than in solar tide. Surprisingly, the enhancement due to magnetic activity is greater inL 2(H) than inS 1(H), while the contrary is true for declination. It is inferred that there is a local time component of the storm time variation contrary to the view expressed by Green and Malin. The enhancements in amplitudesL 2 andS 1 inH andD, due to sunspot activity and due to magnetic activity, have been separated. The results show that the amplitude at zero sunspot number increases with magnetic activity in all the four parameters, while the enhancement due to sunspot activity at different levels of magnetic activity decreases with increase ofK p. But if bothK p andR are increasing, whenK p increases enhancement due toR decreases and whenR increases enhancement due toK p decreases.  相似文献

The occurrence of flowing wells in basins has been found to be closely related to the discharge area with an upward hydraulic gradient. Unfortunately, previous studies on upward gradient induced wellbore flow with equaling total inflow (Qin) in the deep and total outflow (Qout) in the shallow could not explain the occurrence of flowing wells. By representing wells using the MNW2 Package imbedded in MODFLOW 2005, we obtain the exchange of groundwater between the aquifer and the well in the discharge area of 3D unit basins and identify three scenarios: Qin = Qout, Qin > Qout > 0 and Qin > Qout = 0. The relationship of Qin > Qout well explains why flowing wells only develop in a limited part of the discharge area. Sensitivity analysis shows that well location, water table undulation, and basin length–depth ratio do not change the profile of the ratio of cumulative flow rate in a flowing well to total inflow (Qv/Qin) versus the relative elevation in the inflow segment, zin*, but could significantly change the length of the inflow segment; well depth could change both the length of the inflow segment and the profile of Qv/Qin versus zin*. Based on the numerical results in homogeneous and isotropic basins with different basin length–depth ratios in the current study, the ratio of inflow in the lower half part of a flowing well to the total inflow is found to be at least 67% and could be close to 100%, indicating that water at the outlets of flowing wells with long open sections is mainly from the deep part of the well.  相似文献

Summary The lunar daily (L) and lunar monthly (M) variations in horizontal magnetic field (H), maximum electron density (N max ), height of peak ionisation (h max ), semi-thickness (y m ) of theF 2 layer and total electron content (N t ) at Huancayo for the period January 1960 to December 1961 are described. The lunar tidal variations inh max follow sympathetically the variations inH such that an increase of magnetic field causes the raising of height of peak ionisation. Lunar tides inN max are opposite in phase to that ofh max with a delay of about 1–2 hours, suggesting that an increase of height causes a decrease in maximum electron density. The lunar tides in semi-thickness are very similar in phase to that inh max . The lunar tidal effects in any of the parameters are largest inD-months and least inJ-months. The amplitude of lunar tides in maximum electron density seems to increase with increasing height whereas the phase seems to be constant with height. It is concluded that lunar tides in the ionospheric parameters at magnetic equator are greatly controlled by the corresponding geomagnetic variations.Presented at the Third International Symposium on Equatorial Aeronomy, Ahmedabad, 3–10 February 1969.  相似文献

Summary The evolution of the opinions as to the problem of the triaxiality of the Earth in the period prior to satellite geodesy can be seen, e.g., in[1–18]. Recently the opinion has been voiced that triaxiality is a result of the mathematical treatment of data rather than reality[19–21], especially since this is a comparatively small parameter. This opinion is not in contradiction with the results of satellite observations[22–28], but the non-zero values of the harmonic coefficients of the second degree and second order are a reality, they yield a value of the equatorial flattening of about1/90 000, and the representation of the equatorial section by an ellipse is justified even if the harmonics n=3, k=1 and n=3, k=3 have amplitudes only about half as small, and some other parameters might occur with just as much justification besides triaxiality.  相似文献

Summary The comparison of the geomagneticK-indices for Mogadiscio with the correspondingK p for the whole earth, during the 2.nd Intern. Polar Year 1932–33, allows to deduce some features of the equatorial geomagnetic activity. Furthermore, evidence is adduced indicating that the geomagnetic disturbance at Mogadiscio is normal inH andD, while it appears slightly abnormal inZ.

Rossby wave propagation in the presence of a nonseparable Brunt-Väisälä frequency,N(y,z), and the associated geostrophic zonal flow,U(y,z), is examined in this paper. The usual quasi-geostrophic potential vorticity equation only includes vertical variations in Brunt-Väisälä frequency (i.e.N(z)). We derive a linearised quasi-geostrophic potential vorticity equation which explicitly includesN(y, z), where variations inN may occur on the internal Rossby radius length scale. A mixed layer distribution that monotonically deepens in the poleward direction leads to a nonseparableN(y,z). The resulting meridional pressure gradient is balanced by an eastward zonal geostrophic flow.By assuming mixed layer depth changes occur slowly, relative to a typical horizontal wavelength of a Rossby wave, a local analysis is presented. The Rossby wave is found to have a strongly modulated meridional wavenumber,l, with amplitude proportional to |l|–1/2. To elucidate whether the modulations of the Rossby wave are caused by the horizontal variations inN orU we also consider the cases where eitherN orU vary horizontally. Mixed layer depth changes lead to largestl where the mixed layer is deepest, whereasl is reduced in magnitude whereU is nonzero. When bothU(y,z) andN(y,z) are present, the two effects compete with one another, the outcome determined by the size of |c|/U max, wherec is the Rossby wave phase speed. Finally, the slowly varying assumption required for the analytical approach is removed by employing a numerical model. The numerical model is suitable for studying Rossby wave propagation in a rectangular zonal channel with generalN(y, z) andU(y, z).  相似文献

Summary The general solution of the direct gravimetric problem for homogeneous and inhomogeneous bodies was derived in[1] in the form of Green-type integrals. 大型通江湖泊水位不断变化,引起湖泊水域与洲滩湿地之间相互转化,造成湿地植物周期性淹没分解,影响水体营养物质循环和能量流动.本文以鄱阳湖典型湿地植物灰化薹草(Carex cinerascens)、蒌蒿(Artemisia 和虉草(Phalaris arundinacea)为研究对象,通过为期69d的室外模拟实验,探究3种植物腐烂分解对水环境因子和浮游植物生物量(以叶绿素a(Chl.a)浓度表征)的影响.结果表明:(1)3种湿地植物的分解过程均为前期分解较快、后期缓慢,且蒌蒿分解率显著大于灰化薹草和虉草.(2)腐烂分解过程中,水体理化因子均发生了显著变化,如水体pH呈先降低后升高的趋势,且空白组pH显著高于其他实验组.浊度、营养盐浓度和高锰酸盐指数(COD_(Mn))浓度均呈先升高后降低并逐渐稳定的变化趋势,且显著高于空白组,蒌蒿腐烂分解对水体pH、浊度、营养盐浓度和COD_(Mn)的影响最大.(3)灰化薹草组和虉草组Chl.a浓度均呈前期波浪式上升、后期逐渐稳定的变化趋势;蒌蒿组Chl.a浓度整体呈逐渐上升的趋势.水体浊度和营养盐浓度是影响浮游植物生长的主要因素.  相似文献

Summary Lunar and luni-solar geomagnetic components have been computed upto four harmonics for low latitude station Alibag, outside equatorial electrojet belt, and the equatorial electrojet stations Annamalainagar, Kodaikanal and Trivandrum in the south Indian region. The computations are confined to data of very high solar activity period 1958–61. Amplitudes of lunar semidiurnal component (L 2), in the horizontal intensity (H), undergo an equatorial enhancement. Phase difference of 2 hrs is noticed inL 2 (H) between nonelectrojet and electrojet stations. In the vertical intensity (Z), L 2 is maximum ine andj-seasons at Trivandrum, close to the magnetic equator. Ind-season, however, maximumL 2 (Z) occurs at Annamalainagar (dip 5°.4N). The phase difference between the electrojet and nonelectrojet stations observed inL 2 (H) is not noticed inL 2 (Z). The differential vertical upward drift motion of charged particles may explain the observed phase difference inL 2 (H). Seasonal variations in amplitudes and times of maxima are noticed at all the stations inL 2 (H) andL 2 (Z). Similar variation is also noticed at Alibag inL 2 of declination (D).  相似文献

Summary The integral mean values of gravity on the surface W=W 0 , obtained from satellite observations with the use of harmonic coefficients[3, 7] and from terrestrial gravity measurements[12], are compared. The squares and products of the harmonic coefficients were neglected, with the exception of [J 2 (0) ] 2 , which was taken into account. The Potsdam correction and the geocentric constant are being discussed. The paper ties up with[13–15] and the symbols used are the same. The given problem was treated, e.g., in[2, 4, 6, 8–10]; in the present paper the values of gravity are compared directly.  相似文献

Period lengthening, exhibited by structures when subjected to strong ground motions, constitutes an implicit proxy of structural inelasticity and associated damage. However, the reliable prediction of the inelastic period is tedious and a multi‐parametric task, which is related to both epistemic and aleatory uncertainty. Along these lines, the objective of this paper is to investigate and quantify the elongated fundamental period of reinforced concrete structures using inelastic response spectra defined on the basis of the period shift ratio (Tin/Tel). Nonlinear oscillators of varying yield strength (expressed by the force reduction factor, Ry), post‐yield stiffness (ay) and hysteretic laws are examined for a large number of strong motions. Constant‐strength, inelastic spectra in terms of Tin/Tel are calculated to assess the extent of period elongation for various levels of structural inelasticity. Moreover, the influence that structural characteristics (Ry, ay and degrading level) and strong‐motion parameters (epicentral distance, frequency content and duration) exert on period lengthening are studied. Determined by regression analyses of the data obtained, simplified equations are proposed for period lengthening as a function of Ry and Tel. Bivalves are regularly used as biomonitors of contaminants in coastal and estuarine waters. We used oysters to assess short term changes in metal availability caused by the resuspension of contaminated sediments. Sydney Rock Oysters, Saccostrea glomerata, were deployed at multiple sites in Port Kembla Harbour and two reference estuaries for 11 weeks before dredging and for two equivalent periods during dredging. Saccostrea experienced large increases in accumulation of zinc, copper and tin during dredging in the Port relative to oysters deployed in reference estuaries. Lead and tin were found to be permanently elevated within Port Kembla. We present a clear and un-confounded demonstration of the potential for dredging activities to cause large scale increases in water column contamination. Our results also demonstrate the usefulness of external reference locations in overcoming temporal confounding in bioaccumulation studies.  相似文献

In this paper, on the basis of intensity data from 85 earthquakes occurred in China, the method of resolving overdetermined equations by using the damped least squares method is applied to inversing for the mean value of 1 s. S wave quality factor, the spreading factor and the S-wave acceleration at the foci of earthquakes in 7 regions of China. The relation between S-wave acceleration at the foci of earthquakes and magnitude is discussed. As an example, 2-DQ S distribution in Taiwan Province is obtained by inversion. It is found that there exists some corresponding relation between this distribution and Bouguer gravitational anomaly and seismicity. Preliminary analysis and discussion on results of the inversion, and estimation of error inQ S are made. Zusammenfassung In der modernen Registriertechnik strebt man immer mehr danach mittels elektrischer Übertragungsanlagen (Verstärker) geophysikalische Vorgänge sofort sichtbar aufzuzeichnen. Bei der Erdmagnetik konnte die photographische Aufzeichnung wegen ihrer Genauigkeit durch keine andere Methode ersetzt werden. Eine elektrische Übertragung auf P. Schreiber ist nur mit Hilfe von Differential-Photozellen möglich. Am obigen Observatorium läuft seit Oktober 1953 eine Anlage für die Deklination und Horizontalintensität. DasH-Variometer (einTöpfer-Instrument) ist temperaturkompensiert; dasD-Variometer wurde am Observatorium hergestellt und besitzt ein Plexiglas-Gehäuse. Die mit besonderen Blenden ausgestatteten Projektoren beleuchten die Variometer, die gleichmäßig ausgeleuchtete Lichtrechtecke auf die Zellen werfen. — Die Skalenwerte betragen inD: 0.70±0.03, inH: 4.2±0.05 Gamma pro pars. Die Anlage erweist sich als sehr praktisch für die Prognose ionosphärischer Störungen.
Summary In modern technique for recordings the directly visible drawing of geophysical processes is more and more used by means of electrical arrangements of transmission (amplifier). The photographic recording in the research of earth-magnetism could not be substituted with another method on account of its exactness. An electrical transmission at point-writers is only possible with differential-photocells. At the Observatory in Fürstenfeldbruck an arrangement for declination and horizontalintensity is now working since October 1953. TheH-variometer (byTöpfer) is compensated for temperature; theD-variometer was constructed at the Observatory and has a case of plexigum. The projecters furnished with special diaphragm lights up the variometers which throw equal clear rectangles of light at the cells. — The scalevalues are inD 0.70±0.03, inH: 4.2±0.05 Gamma per pars. The arrangement is very usefull for prognosis of ionospheric disturbances.

The purpose of the present study is to investigate experimentally the development of bedforms in a configuration where the sediment supply is limited. The experimental setup is a rectangular closed duct combining an innovative system to control the rate of sediment supply Qin , and a digitizing system to measure in real time the 3D bedform topography. We carried out different sets of experiments with two sediment sizes (100 µm and 500 µm) varying both the sediment supply and the water flow rate to obtain a total of 46 different configurations. After a transient phase, steady sub‐centimeter bedforms of various shapes have been observed: barchans dunes, straight transverse dune, linguoid transverse dunes and bedload sheets. Height, spacing, migration speed, and mean bed elevation of the equilibrium bedforms were measured. For a given flow rate, two regimes were identified with fine sediment: (i) a monotonic increasing regime where the equilibrium bedform height and velocity increase with the sediment supply rate Qin and (ii) an invariant regime for which both parameters are almost independent of Qin. For coarse sediment, only the first regime is observed. We interpret the saturation of height and velocity for fine sediment bedforms as the transition from a supply‐limited regime to a transport‐limited regime in which the bedload flux has reached its maximum value under the prevailing flow conditions. We also demonstrate that all experiments can be rescaled if the migration speed and height of the bedforms are, respectively, divided and multiplied by the cube of the shear velocity. This normalization is independent of grain size and of bedform morphology. These experimental results provide a new quantification of the factors controlling equilibrium height and migration speed of bedforms in supply‐limited conditions against which theoretical and numerical models can be tested.  相似文献

A recursive perturbation solution to the eulerian transport problem for a conservative solute in a random conductivity field is reported. The stochastic concentration is given to arbitrary order inσ ν, the variance of fluctuating velocity. The result gives the stochastic concentration as a perturbation to the deterministic concentration for constant mean flow. The closed form solution is easy to implement numerically via FFT.  相似文献
