The unsteady free-convection flow of an electrically-conducting fluid near a moving vertical plate of infinite extent is investigated in the presence of uniform transverse magnetic field fixed to the fluid or to the plate. Exact solution of this problem is obtained with the aid of the Laplace transform technique, when the plate is moving with a velocity which is an arbitrary functiuon of time. The solution is exemplified for three particular cases of physical interest; the non-magnetic case is also discussed.  相似文献

The three-dimensional free-convection flow near an infinite vertical plate moving in a rotating fluid in the presence of a transverse magnetic field is studied in the case when the plate temperature undergoes a thermal transient. An exact solution has been obtained by defining a complex velocity with the help of the Laplace-transform technique, when the plate is moving with a velocity which is an arbitrary function of time. Three special cases of physical interest are also discussed.  相似文献

Hall effects on the hydromagnetic free convection flow of an electrically conducting incompressible viscous fluid past a steadily moving vertical porous plate has been analysed when the free stream oscillates in magnitude. The flow is subjected to a constant suction, through the porous plate, and the difference between wall temperature and the free-stream is moderately large causing the free convection currents. The mathematical analysis is presented for the hydromagnetic boundary layer flow without taking into account the induced magnetic field. This is a valid assumption for small magnetic Reynolds number. Approximate solutions for the components of velocity field and temperature field and their related quantities are obtained. The influence of various parameters entering into the problem is extensively discussed with the help of graphs and tables.  相似文献

The similarity solution for hydromagnetic flow of an incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid past a continuously moving semi-infinite porous plate in the presence of a magnetic field has been obtained for the case of small magnetic Reynolds number. The perturbation method has been used to solve the similarity equations at large suction. The resulting equations have been solved by analytical method. The effect of the magnetic parameter is to increase the skin-friction coefficient while it has no significant effect on the Nusselt number.  相似文献

The three-dimensional flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid near an infinite plate (or wall) of non-conductor, which is oscillating harmonically in a uniform rotating medium, is studied in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. The impressed uniform magnetic field is perpendicular to the plate and the induced magnetic field is considered. Exact solution of this problem is obtained for the velocity and magnetic fields. Neglecting the induced magnetic field we readily obtain the results of all the previous investigations. The effects of the rotation and the magnetic field are comparable with one another and are discussed for the whole problem. Also, the drag and the lateral stress on the plate are discussed.  相似文献

The effects of rotation and magnetic field on the Couette flow of an electrically-conducting fluid between two parallel plates have been discussed when one of the plates has been set into impulsive motion. Under the assumption of negligible induced magnetic field and the applied field being fixed relative to the moving plate, the governing momentum equations have been solved exactly, and the expressions for velocity and skin friction have been presented. The variations of velocity and skin friction have been discussed for different parameter values. The decrease in velocity due to rotation and its increase due to magnetic field have been shown.  相似文献

The three-dimensional flow of an electrically conducting and incompressible viscous fluid past a uniformly accelerated infinite vertical porous plate is studied in a rotating fluid. The flow is assumed to be at small magnetic Reynolds number so that the induced magnetic field is neglected. An exact solution has been obtained by defining a complex velocity with the help of the Laplace transform method for the Prandtl number equal to unity. The effects of rotation, magnetic and free-convection parameters are discussed for the whole problem. Also, the skin-friction components on the plate are discussed.  相似文献

Rotation effect on the hydromagnetic free-convection flow of an electrically conducting, viscous, and incompressible fluid past a steadily moving vertical porous plate has been analysed in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. The free-stream velocity oscillates in time about a constant mean, while the suction velocity, normal to the porous plate, is constant. The magnetic Reynolds number of the flow is taken small enough so that the induced magnetic field can be neglected. The plate temperature is constant and the difference between the temperature of the plate and the free stream is moderately large causing the free-convection currents. The flow field is described by nonlinar coupled system of equations. With viscous dissipative heat taken into account, approximate solutions of the problem are obtained for the components of velocity field and temperature field as well as for the skin-friction components and rate of heat transfer.  相似文献

With viscous dissipation and Joule heating taking into account the hydromagnetic two-dimensional oscillating free-convection flow, of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid, past an infinite vertical porous limiting surface, is studied. For the solution of the problem it is considered that, the free-stream velocity, the plate temperature and the induced magnetic field are oscillating in the time about constant mean values. The flow is subjected to a constant suction velocity, through the porous surface, and a magnetic field of uniform strength is applied transversely to the direction of the flow. Analytical expressions for the flow field are obtained by solving the coupled non-linear system of equations which describe the flow. The influence of the various parameters entering into the problem is also extensively discussed signifying the importance of retaining the Joule heating and viscous dissipation term in the energy equation.  相似文献

In this work an analysis of Stokes' problem for a two-dimensional unsteady hydromagnetic free convection flow, of an incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid, past an infinite vertical porous limiting surface is presented, when the free stream velocity oscillates in time about a constant mean value. The flow is subjected to a constant suction, through the porous wall, and the difference between the wall temperature and the free stream is moderately large causing the free convection currents. The mathematical analysis is presented for the hydromagnetic boundary layer flow without taking into account the induced magnetic field. This is a valid assumption for small magnetic Reynolds number. Analytical expressions for the velocity field, the temperature field and for their related quantities are obtained. The influence of the various parameters entering into the problem is extensively discussed. A comparative study with hydrodynamic case is also made wherever necessary.  相似文献

Effects of temperature-dependent heat source on hydromagnetic free-convection flow (set up due to temperature as well as species concentration) of an electrically-conducting incompressible viscous fluid past a steadily moving vertical porous plate through high porous medium has been analysed when the free stream oscillates in magnitude. The flow is subjected to a constant suction, through the porous plate. The mathematical analysis is presented for the hydromagnetic flow without taking into account the induced magnetic field. This is a valid assumption for small magnemtic Reynold number. Approximate analysis for the velocity and temperature field and their related quantities are obtained. The influence of various parameters entering into the problem is extensively discussed with the help of graphs and tables.  相似文献

The flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid produced by harmonically oscillating wall of infinite extent in presence of a transverse magnetic field is considered. Exact solutions for velocity, induced magnetic field, electrical current density and skin-friction are obtained when the magnetic Prandtl number is unity. It is shown that the velocity has a phase lag with respect to the oscillations of the wall. This phase lag is found to be significantly affected by the applied magnetic field. On study-leave from Defence Science Laboratory, Delhi, India.  相似文献

The effects of heat and mass transfer on the flow field of a laminar boundary layer is considered. The flow is that of an incompressible viscous fluid past an impulsively started permeable vertical limiting surface with constant heat flux. The solution of the problem was obtained numerically, using an implicit finite difference scheme. The solution is given in a number of diagrams, which depict the influence ofG on velocity,P on temperature and Sc on concentration. The influence ofG on skin friction is also given.  相似文献

The unsteady flow of an electrically conducting fluid past an infinite plate with constant suction is investigated in the presence of an external magnetic field and buoyancy forces. The temperature of the plate is assumed to oscillate in time about a constant mean and the flow is considered to be free of convection. For the method of solution, we have employed a small parameter approach when this small parameter is a non-dimensional quantity which is related to the viscoelastic constant of the fluid. Analytical expressions are obtained for the temperature distribution and the velocity profile of the fluid. These analytical results clearly show that the velocity profile is strongly damped when the magnetic field is more intense. This means that the applied magnetic field causes the fluid to move slower as compared with the non-magnetic case.  相似文献

Unsteady two-dimensional flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid which is confined on one side of a semi-infinite wall, in presence of a transverse magnetic field is investigated. The wall is initially at rest and then it is suddenly accelerated in its own plane with a velocity which is an arbitrary function of the time. Solution of the problem is obtained, for two particular cases, i.e., corresponding to two free-stream velocities, with the help of the finite difference approximation technique using the explicit method for uniformly accelerated motion of the wall.  相似文献

A general solution of cylindrical symmetry in which distribution consists of an electrically neutral viscous fluid with an infinite electrical conductivity in presence of magnetic field, has been obtained. The behaviour of magnetic field on the model has been clearly interpreted. Various physical and geometrical properties have also been discussed.  相似文献

The effect of a uniform transverse magnetic field on the free-convection flow of an electrically conducting fluid past a uniformly accelerated infinite vertical porous plate is discussed. Finite-difference method has been used to obtain the solution of the governing equations when the Prandtl number is not equal to unity. The velocity profiles have been shown graphically for both cases, cooling and heating of the porous plate. The numerical values of the skin-friction are entered in table and the effects of the various parameter are discussed on the flow field.  相似文献

An analytical study of MHD free-convective and mass-transfer flow past a moving infinite vertical plate, in a rotating fluid, is presented, taking into account the thermal diffusion effects. The solution of the problem is obtained with the help of the Laplace transform technique. Analytical expressions are given for the velocity field and for skin-friction for two different cases, e.g., when the plate is impulsively started, moving on its own plane (case I) and when it is uniformly accelerated (case II). The effects on the velocity field and skin-friction, of the various parameters entering into the problem, are discussed with the help of graphs.  相似文献

Unsteady hydromagnetic boundary layer flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past an infinite vertical non-conducting porous limiting surface in presence of a transverse magnetic field, is considered when the limiting surface is moving impulsively in its own plane and is subjected to a constant suction. The free stream oscillates in time about a constant mean value and the magnetic Reynolds number is taken to be small enough so that the induced magnetic field is negligible. As the mean steady flow has been presented in Part I, only the solutions for the transient velocity profiles, transient temperature profiles, the amplitude and the phase of the skin friction and the rate of the heat transfer are presented in this work. The influence of the various parameters entering into the problem, especially of the magnetic parameterM, is extensively discussed. A comparative study with hydrodynamic case (M=0) is also made.  相似文献

Solutions of magnetofluid accretion disk with negligible self-gravitation have been obtained in the background of the Schwarzschild spacetime for differential as well as rigid rotation. The constraint equations for the magnetic field components have also been derived. It is shown that the magnetic field plays an important role in confining the fluid flow.  相似文献
