An account of the theory of the light curves of supernovae is presented, based on certain assumptions concerning the passage through the stellar atmosphere of powerful shock waves. The investigation is based on numerical integration of appropriate equations of gas dynamics and radiative heat-conductivity. The calculations substantially involve the ionization and recombination of hydrogen in the envelope of a supernova. Changes are traced in the curves arising from the transition from compact stars with small radius (10R ), to stars with very extensive envelopes (10000R ). The light curves for compact stars agree well with observations of the peculiar supernovae in NGC 5457, NGC 6946 and NGC 5236. The characteristics of the light curves with the passage of shock waves through the extended atmosphere coincide within an order of magnitude with observations of the supernovae of type II and type I near their maximum brightness. A powerful heat-wave propagates before the shock-front in the extensive atmosphere which gives rise to a detached supernova envelope in the form of a thin spherical layer. We investigated the condition in an ascending wave of cooling and recombination in the supernova envelope. It is shown that part of the hydrogen may recombine to attain full transparency for radiation passing through it. The observations are compared with the results of the theory of radioactive decay of the elements. This explanation of the light curves by the passage of shock waves requires energies of 1050 to 1052 ergs, which are in agreement with mechanisms of thermonuclear explosions.Translated from the Russian by E. Orbital stability of quasiperiodic motions in the many dimensional autonomic hamiltonian systems is considered. Studied motions are supposed to be not far from equilibrium, the number of their basic frequencies may be not equal to the number of degrees of freedom, and the procedure of their construction is supposed to be converged. The stability problem is solved in the strict nonlinear mode.Obtained results are used in the stability investigation of small plane motions near the lagrangian solutions of the three-dimensional circular restricted three-body problem. The values of parameters for which the plane motions are unstable have been found.

A non-LTE study of the Type IIb supernova 1993J in the galaxy M81 taking into account nonthermal ionization and line blocking effects is carried out. Hydrodynamical models and theoretical spectra clearly show that nonthermal ionization and excitation dominate after the second maximum, at day 30, and play a decisive role in reproducing both the smooth tail of the light curve and the emergence of helium lines in the spectrum, similar to those observed. Based on our model of supernova 1993J, we predict that the light curves of Type Ib supernovae should be subject to nonthermal ionization and excitation at earlier times than even those for supernova 1993J. In our model, the outburst of supernova 1993J is interpreted as the explosion of a 4 M red supergiant, which underwent core collapse and left a neutron star in a binary system. The progenitor is supposed to have a helium core mass of 3 M, corresponding to a 13 M main-sequence star. Supernova 1993J adds evidence to the scenario that Type Ib supernovae originate from moderately massive stars on the main sequence that have lost their hydrogen envelopes in interacting binary systems.  相似文献

The long-time series of daily means of cosmic-ray intensity observed by four neutron monitors at different cutoff rigidities (Calgary, Climax, Lomnický tít and Huancayo/Haleakala) were analyzed by means of the wavelet transform method in the period range 60 to 1000 days. The contributions of the time evolution of three quasi-periodic cosmic-ray signals (150 d, 1.3 yr and 1.7 yr) to the global one are obtained. While the 1.7-yr quasi-periodicity, the most remarkable one in the studied interval, strongly contributes to the cosmic ray intensity profile of solar cycle 21 (particularly in 1982), the 1.3-yr one, which is better correlated with the same periodicity of the interplanetary magnetic field strength, is present as a characteristic feature for the decreasing phases of the cycles 20 and 22. Transitions between these quasi-periodicities are seen in the wavelet power spectra plots. Obtained results support the claimed difference in the solar activity evolution during odd and even solar activity cycles.  相似文献

The equations of motion of the satellite-damper system are derived omitting consideration of the influence of external torques. The power in the different modes of an expansion of the solar radial magnetic field at the surface in terms of Legendre polynomials,P , is calculated with the help of a solar dynamo model studied earlier. The model is of the Babcock–Leighton type, i.e., the surface eruptions of the toroidal magnetic field – through the tilt angle, , formed by the magnetic axis of a bipolar magnetic region with the east-west line – are the sources for the poloidal field. In this paper it is assumed that the tilt angle is subject to fluctuations of the form, = ()+ <> where <> is the average value and () is a random normal fluctuation with standard deviation which is taken from Howard's observations of the distribution of tilt angles. For numerical considerations, negative values of were not allowed. If this occurred, was recalculated. The numerical integrations were started with a toroidal magnetic field antisymmetric across the equator, large enough to generate eruptions, and a negligible poloidal field. The fluctuations in the tilt angle destroy the antisymmetry as time increases. The power of the antisymmetric modes across the equator (i.e., odd values of ) is concentrated in frequencies, p, corresponding to the cycle period. The maximum power lies in the =3 mode with considerable power in the =5 mode, in broad agreement with Stenflo's results who finds a maximum power at =5. For the symmetric modes, there is considerable power in frequencies larger than p, again in broad agreement with Stenflo's power spectrum.  相似文献

The ignition of coronal shock waves by flares is investigated. It is assumed that an explosive expansion of the source region caused by impulsive heating generates a fast-mode MHD blast wave which subsequently transforms into a shock wave. The solutions of 1-D MHD equations for the flaring region and for the external region are matched at their boundary. The obtained results show under what conditions flares can ignite shock waves that excite the metric type II bursts. The heat input rate per unit mass has to be sufficiently high and the preflare value of the plasma parameter in the flaring region has to be larger than 0 crit. The critical values depend on the flare dimensions and impulsiveness. Larger and more impulsive flares are more effective in generating type II bursts. Shock waves of a higher Mach number require a higher preflare value of and a more powerful heating per unit mass. The results demonstrate why only a small fraction of flares is associated with type II bursts and why the association rate increases with the flare importance.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity of the lunar interior has been determined from magnetic field step transients measured on the lunar dark side. The simplest model which best fits the data is a spherically symmetric three layer model having a nonconducting outer crust of radial thickness 0.03R moon; an intermediate layer of thicknessR0.37R moon, with electrical conductivity 1 3.5 × 10–4 mhos/m; and an inner core of radiusR 2 0.6R m with conductivity 2 10–2 mhos/m. Temperatures calculated from these conductivities in the three regions for an example of an olivine Moon are as follows: crust, < 440 K; intermediate layer, 890 K; and core, 1240 K. The whole-moon relative permeability has been calculated from the measurements to be/ 0 = 1.03 ± 0.13. Remanent magnetic fields at the landing sites are 38 ± 3 at Apollo 12, 43 ± 6 and 103 ± 5 at two Apollo 14 sites separated by 1.1 km, and 6 ± 4 at the Apollo 15 site. Measurements show that the 38 remanent field at the Apollo 12 site is compressed to 54 by a solar wind pressure increase of 7 × 10–8 dynes/cm2.National Research Council Postdoctoral Associate.  相似文献

On the theory that peculiar A stars were once secondaries in binary systems in which the primaries exploded as type II supernovae, the nucleosynthesis during the final stages of evolution of massive stars is investigated. For heavy elements (Z>30) the observed abundances in peculiar. A stars reflect the composition of material ejected by the exploding primaries. Peculiar A stars are divided into two groups, the main group and the Mn group, and abundances in each group are summarised. During the explosions of the primaries, rapid (n, ) or (, n) reactions operate on the abundance peaks previously formed by the s-process during the giant phase. In the main group primaries (n, ) reactions predominate, and rare-earths are formed from the Ba peak. In the Mn group primaries (, n) reactions operate on the Sr, Ba and Pb peaks to form Kr, Xe and Hg.  相似文献

The generation of space charge waves by micro instabilities of the Harris type and their conversion into electromagnetic waves is discussed in the framework of the dispersion curves of the extraordinary wave mode in the warm plasma. Acceleration of electrons as also nonlinear interactions of waves are taken into account. A survey of the parameter regions of the Harris instabilities is given. Distinct values p / c and p / c result, enabling the instability as well as the conversion. The moving type IVmA bursts, and on the other side the impulsive cm-bursts and the first phase of type IV bursts are correlated to different values p / c and corresponding heights in the corona. The space charge waves can produce hydromagnetic waves by parametric excitation, too (type II bursts). The proposed mechanism is discussed with respect to the energy balance and to the magnetic configurations derived from observations with the Culgoora radioheliograph.  相似文献
