We have carried out BVRIHα CCD surface photometry of the spiral galaxy with active star formation NGC 3184 using the 1-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory. B and Hα data from the ING Archive (La Palma Observatory) were also used. We consider the structure and radial brightness distribution of the galaxy. Stellar populations in different regions of the galaxy are analyzed using two-color diagrams. We have identified and studied star-forming regions in NGC 3184 and estimated their ages based on evolutionary modeling.  相似文献

We have analyzed the radial scales, central surface brightnesses, and colors of 400 disks of various types of galaxies. For nine galaxies, the brightness decrease and the central disk brightness were obtained via a two-dimensional decomposition of the U BV RI J H K photometric images into bulge and disk components. We used published disk parameters for 392 of the galaxies. The central surface brightness μ 0,i 0 and linear (disk) scale length h vary smoothly along the Hubble sequence of galaxies within a rather narrow interval. The disks of relatively early-type galaxies display higher central K surface brightnesses, higher central surface densities, higher central mass-to-luminosity ratios M/L(B), smaller sizes (relative to the diameter of the galaxy D 25), redder integrated colors, and redder central colors. The color gradient normalized to the radius of the galaxy and the “blue” central surface brightness of the disk, μ 0,i/0(B), are both independent of the galaxy type. The radial disk scales in different photometric bands differ less in early-type than in late-type galaxies. A correlation between the central disk surface brightness and the total luminosity of the galaxy is observed. We also consider the influence of dust on the photometric parameters of the disks.  相似文献

A CCD BV R photometric study of the central region (15″ ≤ r ≤ 100″) of the globular cluster NGC 7006 based on color-magnitude diagrams is presented. We find for the main parameters of the cluster [Fe/H] = ?1.62, Y = 0.21, E B?V = 0.15 m , V HB = 18.84 m , M V HB =+0.56 m , R = 37.1 kpc). Two previously unknown RR Lyr variables were discovered in the central region of the cluster. The morphological index of the horizontal branch for the entire region studied indicates that the red stellar population dominates, consistent with previous studies: HB mi = ?0.13. Such anomalously negative morphological indices are possessed by a whole group of Ool clusters with intermediate metallicities, which also display a characteristic distribution of stars along the horizontal branch. There is a radial dependence for the horizontal-branch morphology, with the color becoming primarily blue with approach toward the cluster center. One possible origin for this behavior could be the effect of inner dynamical processes on the spatial distribution of hot stars.  相似文献

The results of JHKLM photometry of two carbon stars are presented: the irregular variable NQ Cas and the Mira star BD Vul. Data on the mean fluxes supplemented with mid-IR observations with the IRAS, AKARI, andWISE satellites are used to compute spherically symmetrical model dust envelopes for the stars, consisting of particles of amorphous carbon and silicon carbide. The optical depth in the visible for the comparatively cool dust envelope of BD Vul, with a dust temperature at its inner boundary T1 = 610 K, is fairly low: τV = 0.13. The dust envelope of NQ Cas is appreciably hotter (T1 = 1550 K), and has τV = 0.32. The estimated mass-loss rates are 1.5 × 10?7M/yr for NQ Cas and 5.9 × 10?7M/yr for BD Vul.  相似文献

Lower limits for the percentages of stars with various luminosities in the cores of six globular clusters are derived using stellar spatial density distributions f(r) to deep limiting B magnitudes obtained earlier. For NGC 6535 and NGC 5466, the logarithmic density range and Kholopov parameters Df and Dr are also determined. These two parameters are correlated with the mean masses of stars of various subsystems and the total mass (number) of stars in the cluster.  相似文献

The mixing of metals in the intergalactic gas when a galaxy with a metal-rich envelope moves through the intergalactic medium is analyzed. Two simple models for the initial distribution of metals are considered. In the first case, the metals are concentrated in a fairly thin envelope with thickness ΔR s =1 kpc, outer radius R s =31 kpc, and metallicity Z=10?3. In the second case, material with the same metallicity uniformly fills an entire spherical region of radius R s . After 2.85 Gyr, the metals are distributed over a fairly extended volume with a typical size of ?200 kpc in the direction of the motion of the intergalactic gas, with a mean metallicity of ?4.6×10?4 in metal-enriched regions. However, the distribution of metals remains extremely nonuniform, so that the main contribution to the overall metallicity is provided by metal-rich islands Z?6×10?4 that occupy only ~10% of the total mixing volume. Moreover, metal-free regions remain in this volume.  相似文献

The results of infrared observations of the two Be stars X Per and V725 Tau, which are the optical components of X-ray binary systems, obtained in 1994–2016 are presented. The observations cover Be-star phases as well as shell phases. The data analysis shows that the radiation observed from the binaries at 1.25, 3.5, and 5 μm can be explained as the combined radiation from the optical components and variable sources (shells/disks) that emit as blackbodies (BBs). Emission from a source with the color temperature T c ~1000?1500 K was detected for X Per at λ ≥ 3.5 μm. The highest IR-brightness variation amplitudes for X Per were 0.9?1.2 m (JHK magnitudes) and ~1.45 m (LM magnitudes); for V725 Tau, they were 1.1?1.4 m and ~1.7 m (L magnitudes). The parameters of the optical components and interstellar extinction during the Be phases were estimated: the color excesswasE(B?V) = 0.65±0.08 m and 0.77 ± 0.03 m for X Per and V725 Tau, respectively. Light from the variable sources (disks/shells) was distinguished and their color temperatures, radii, and luminosities estimated for different observation epochs in a BB model. The variations of the binaries’ IR brightness and colors are shown to be due to changing parameters of the variable sources. The mean color temperature of the cool source (disk/shell) and the mean radius and mean luminosity of X Per are 9500± 2630 K, (35 ± 10) R, and (9100± 540) L. For V725 Tau, these parameters are 6200 ± 940 K, (27 ± 6) R, and (980 ± 420) L. The 1.25–5 μm radiation from X Per at different epochs can be represented as a sum of contributions from at least three sources: the optical component and two objects emitting as BBs. To reproduce the 1.25–3.5 μm radiation from V725 Tau, two components are sufficient: the optical component and a single variable BB object. For both binary systems, orbital variations of the IR brightness can be noted near the Be-star phase. The amplitudes of the J-band variations of X Per and V725 Tau are about 0.3 m and 0.1 m , respectively.  相似文献

The results of spectroscopic observations of the host galaxies of objects in the RC catalog (the “Big Trio” program) obtained using the new SCORPIO spectrograph of the Special Astrophysical Observatory are presented. The spectroscopic redshifts of the objects are compared with their photometric color redshifts, and the errors in the latter are estimated. Based on BV RI observations obtained on the 6-m telescope of the SAO, the errors for the population of powerful radio galaxies are close to those found previously for radio quiet galaxies (about 10–20%). The detection of Ly α in the B filter in RC 1626+0448 is confirmed. This object is the second spectrally studied FR II radio source from the RC catalog to have a redshift z>2.5. Star formation in its host galaxy began at a redshift z>3.3. This first use of the new SCORPIO spectrograph demonstrates its promise for studies of very distant steep-spectrum radio galaxies brighter than 23m–24m in V.  相似文献

Estimates of the masses of supermassive black holes (M bh ) in the nuclei of disk galaxies with known rotation curves are compared with estimates of the rotational velocities V m and the “indicative” masses of the galaxies M i . Although there is a correlation between M bh and V m or M i , it is appreciably weaker than the correlation with the central velocity dispersion. The values of M bh for early-type galaxies (S0-Sab), which have more massive bulges, are, on average, higher than the values for late-type galaxies with the same rotational velocities. We conclude that the black-hole masses are determined primarily by the properties of the bulge and not the rotational velocity or the mass of the galaxy.  相似文献

The conditions for the destruction of dust in hot gas in galaxy clusters are investigated. It is argued that extinction measurements can be subject to selection effects, hindering their use in obtaining trustworthy estimates of dust masses in clusters. It is shown, in particular, that the ratio of the dust mass to the extinction M d /S d increases as dust grains are disrupted, due to the rapid destruction of small grains. Over long times, this ratio can asymptotically reach values a factor of three higher than the mean value in the interstellar medium in the Galaxy. This lowers dust-mass estimates based on measurements of extinction in galaxy clusters. The characteristic lifetime of dust in hot cluster gas is determined by its possible thermal isolation by the denser medium of gas fragments within which the dust is ejected from galaxies, and can reach 100–300 million years, depending on the kinematics and morphology of the fragments. As a result, the mass fraction of dust in hot cluster gas can reach 1–3% of the Galactic value. Over its lifetime, dust can also be manifest through its far-infrared emission. The emission characteristics of the dust change as it is disrupted, and the ratio of the fluxes at 350 and 850 μm can increase appreciably. This can potentially serve as an indicator of the state of the dust and ambient gas.  相似文献

We present a new normalization for the linear density-perturbation spectrum in a multi-parameter model of the Universe. Using the differential mass function for the nearly galaxy clusters obtained from optical data, we have constructed a functional relation between the dispersion of the density contrast σ 8 on the scale 8h ?1 Mpc and the cosmological parameters Ω m , ΩΛ, h, n, f v for each of three theoretical approximations of the mass function: Press-Schechter, Sheth-Tormen and Jenkins. An extended class of models of the Universe with general spatial curvature include four parameters for the matter components: baryons (Ω b ), “cold” dark matter (Ω c ), “hot” dark matter (Ω v ), and the vacuum energy (ΩΛ). It is shown that the most accurate normalization of the power spectrum is achieved with the Sheth-Tormen approximation.  相似文献

We present the results of our IR photometric observations of the classical symbiotic star BF Cyg acquired in 1978–2003. The variability range in the J and K bands was ~0.2m. A periodic component in the cool star’s brightness variations is clearly visible, its period being half the orbital one and its J amplitude being ~0.15m. This component is associated with the ellipsoidal shape of the red giant, which model calculations show fills its Roche lobe. This is required in order to reproduce ellipsoidal brightness variability with such a large amplitude: the calculated amplitude for a red giant filling 90% of its Roche lobe is half the observed value. At the same time, it was not possible to confidently chose the optimum component-mass ratio, q = M giant /Mhot, and orbital inclination, i, from possible values in the ranges q = 2–4, i = 70°–90°. Including the contribution from the hot radiation sources (the hot component and ionized envelope), which vary with a period equal to the orbital period, has a considerable influence on the estimated parameters associated with the red giant’s ellipsoidal brightness variations, and this contribution cannot be neglected. The deviations of the observed from the calculated light curve are irregular, with the rms deviation being σ(O-C) ≈ 0.04m.  相似文献

Our analysis of many years of infrared photometry of the unique object FG Sge indicates that the dust envelope formed around the supergiant in August 1992 is spherically symmetrical and contains compact, dense dust clouds. The emission from the spherically symmetrical dust envelope is consistent with the observed radiation from the star at 3.5–5 µm, and the presence of the dust clouds can explain the radiation observed at 1.25–2.2 µm. The mean integrated flux from the dust envelope in 1992–2001 was ~(1.0±0.2)×10?8 erg s?1cm?2. The variations of its optical depth in 1992–2001 were within 0.5–1.0. The maximum density of the dust envelope was recorded in the second half of 1993 and corresponded to mean optical depths as high as unity. Several times in the interval from 1992 to 2001, the dusty material of the envelope partially dissipated and was then replenished. For example, the optical depth of the dust cloud at λ=1.25 µm during the last brigthness minimum in the J band was τ1.25≈4.3, which is much higher than the optical depth of the dust envelope of FG Sge. During maxima of the J brightness, the mean spectral energy distribution at 0.36–5 µm can be represented as a combination of radiation from a G0 supergiant that is attenuated by a dust envelope with a mean optical depth of 0.65±0.15 and emission from the spherically symmetrical dust envelope itself, with the temperature of the graphite grains being 750±150 K. At minima of the J brightness, only radiation from the dust envelope is observed at 1.65–5 µm, with the radiation from the supergiant barely detectable at 1.25 µm. As a result, the integrated flux during J minima is almost half that during J maxima. The mean mass of the spherically symmetrical dust envelope of FG Sge in 1992–2001 was (3 ± 1) × 10?7M. This envelope’s mass varied by nearly a factor of two during 1992–2001, in the range (2 – 4) × 10?7M. In Autumn 1992, the mass-loss rate from the supergiant exceeded 2 × 10?7M/yr. The average rate at which matter was injected into the envelope during 1993–2001 was 10?8M/yr. The mean rate of dissipation of the dust envelope was about 1 × 10?8M/yr. During 1992–2001, the supergiant lost about 8.7 × 10?7M. The parameters of the dust envelope were relatively constant from 1999 until the middle of 2001.  相似文献

An analysis of high-resolution CCD spectra of the giant 25 Mon, which shows signs of metallicity, and the normal giant HR 7389 is presented. The derived effective temperatures, gravitational accelerations, and microturbulence velocities are Teff = 6700 K, log g = 3.24, and ξ t = 3.1 km/s for 25 Mon and Teff = 6630 K, log g = 3.71, and ξ t = 2.6 km/s for HR 7389. The abundances (log ε) of nine elements are determined: carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sodium, silicon, calcium, iron, nickel, and barium. The derived excess carbon abundances are 0.23 dex for 25 Mon and 0.16 dex for HR 7389. 25 Mon displays a modest (0.08 dex) oxygen excess, with the oxygen excess for HR 7389 being somewhat higher (0.15 dex). The nitrogen abundance is probably no lower than the solar value for both stars. The abundances of iron, sodium, calcium (for HR 7389), barium, and nickel exceed the solar values by 0.22–0.40 dex for both stars. The highest excess (0.62 dex) is exhibited by the calcium abundance for 25 Mon. Silicon displays a nearly solar abundance in both stars—small deficits of ?0.03 dex and ?0.07 dex for 25 Mon and HR 7389, respectively. No fundamental differences in the elemental abundances were found in the atmospheres of 25 Mon and HR 7389. Based on their Teff and log g values, as well as theoretical calculations, A. Claret estimated the masses, radii, luminosities, and ages of 25 Mon (M/M = 2.45, log(R/R) = 0.79, log(L/L) = 1.85, t = 5.3 × 108 yr) and HR 7389 (M/M = 2.36, log(R/R) = 0.50, log(L/L) = 1.24, t = 4.6 × 108 yr), and also of the stars 20 Peg (M/M = 2.36, log(R/R) = 0.73, log(L/L) = 1.79, t = 4.9 × 108 yr) and 30 LMi (M/M = 2.47, log(R/R) = 0.73, log(L/L) = 1.88, t = 4.8 × 108 yr) studied by the author earlier.  相似文献

We have used 46 high-resolution echelle spectra of the Wolf-Rayet star HD 192163 taken in 2005–2009 at the Cassegrain focus of the 2-m Zeiss-2000 telescope of the Shamakha Astrophysical Observatory to study profiles of the five strongest emission lines (HeII 4859, HeII 5411, CIV 5808, HeI 5875, (HeII + Hα) 6560). We also obtained four echelle spectrograms of the Wolf-Rayet star HD 191765 for a comparative study of the NaI 5890 (D2) and NaI 5896 (D1) interstellar absorption lines. The echelle spectrograms were reduced using the DECH20 code. We determined the equivalent widths, radial velocities, central intensities, and half-widths of the emission lines. We detected variations in the violetwing of the (HeII + Hα) 6560 emission band (between λ ~ 6496 Å and λ ~ 6532 Å). Our statistical analysis of the radial velocities available for the (HeII + Hα) 6560 emission band reveals a peak at the ~1% level at the frequency ν = 0.195 d?1, corresponding to the period P = 5.128d. We also studied the NaI 5890 (D2) and NaI 5896 (D1) interstellar absorption lines, which are important for understanding the nature of the nebula NGC 6888, whose origin is related to HD 192163. Asymmetric profiles were found for the NaI 5890 and NaI 5896 interstellar absorption lines, interpreted as reflecting a contribution from NGC 6888 to these lines. We suggest that the detected profile variations of the (HeII + Hα) 6560 emission band and the periodic variations of its Doppler shifts (P = 5.128d) are due to the existence of a low-mass K-M star companion to the Wolf-Rayet star. HD 192163 is a possible evolutionary progenitor of a low-mass X-ray binary.  相似文献

A new class of figures of equilibrium for a rotating gravitating fluid located inside a gravitating ring or torus is studied. These figures form a family of sequences of generalized oblate spheroids, in which there is for any value of the tidal parameter α in the interval 0 ≤ \(0 \leqslant \frac{\alpha }{{\pi G\rho }} \leqslant 0.1867\) ≤ 0.1867 a sequence of spheroids with oblatenesses emin (α) ≤ eemax (α). A series of classicalMaclaurin spheroids from a sphere to a flat disk is obtained for α = 0. At intermediate values 0 < ααmax, there are two limiting non-rotating spheroids in each sequence. When α = αmax, the sequence degenerates into a single non-rotating spheroid with ecr ≈ 0.9600, corresponding to the maximum oblateness of E7 elliptical galaxies. The second part of the paper considers the influence of rings of dark matter on the dynamics of elliptical galaxies. It is proposed that the equilibrium of an oblate isolated non-rotating galaxy is unstable, and it cannot be supported purely by anisotropy of the stellar velocity dispersion. A ring of dark matter can stabilize a weakly rotating galaxy, supplementing standard dynamical models for such stellar systems. In order for a galaxy to acquire appreciable oblateness, the mass of the ring must be an order of magnitude higher than the mass of the galaxy itself, consistent with the ratios of the masses of dark and baryonic matter in the Universe. The influence of massive external rings could shed light on the existence of galaxies with the critical oblateness E7.  相似文献

We have carried out numerical simulations of the dynamical evolution of galaxy clusters taking into account merging when the relative velocities of the colliding galaxies are low. In particular, we study the evolution of the structure, mass spectrum, and velocity spectrum of a cluster of a thousand galaxies, as well as the growth of the central supermassive cD galaxy. The initial velocity dispersion of the galaxies and the rotation of the cluster were taken into account. The observed logarithmic spectrum dN\(\tfrac{{dM}}{M}\) was adopted as the initial mass spectrum. The dynamical evolution of galaxy clusters, allowing for the possible merging of colliding galaxies, results in the emergence of a central supermassive galaxy, whose mass continuously increases due to mergers. This occurs only if the mass of the central galaxy becomes greater than ~0.1 of the total mass of the cluster. The observation of cD galaxies with relative masses of ~0.01 suggests that they initially formed in the cluster core, merged with nearby galaxies, and accreted intergalactic gas. The model indicates that a logarithmic galaxy mass spectrum is preserved during the cluster evolution, despite the substantial decrease in the number of galaxies in the cluster with time. The model can also reproduce the observed mass distribution with distance from the cluster center, M r r 1.7.  相似文献

We present the results of spectroscopic observations of the X-ray binary V404 Cyg obtained on the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory in 2001–2002. We have used a statistical approach to interpret the radial-velocity curve of V404 Cyg. We derived the dependence of the mass of the X-ray emitting component mx on the mass of the optical component mv via an analysis of the radial-velocity curve based on profiles of the CaI 6439.075 Å absorption line synthesized in a Roche model. Using the orbital inclination estimated from the ellipticity of the optical component, i=54°–64°, and the component-mass ratio q=mx/mv=16.7 found from the rotational broadening of the spectral lines, we obtain m s =10.65±1.95M for the mass of the black hole.  相似文献

The first high-accuracy CCD UBV RI(RI)C light curves for the recently discovered eclipsing binary V798 Cep (P = 16 d .08, V = 11 m . 8) are presented; this star is included in our program of eclipsing systems with considerable eccentricities. A photometric solution for the light curves and physical characteristics of the component stars are derived. The orbital eccentricity is quite high, e = 0.437. The longitude of periastron is close to 180°, making studies of the apsidal motion difficult. V798 Cep may be a hierarchical system.  相似文献
