A study of the galactic structure has been made by deriving the brightness distribution of the galactic plane at 2.2 m and 4.2 m near infrared region using infrared objects detected by ground-based sky surveys. The infrared brightness distribution shows distinct peaks at every 8–12° galactic longitude and indicates a periodic structure. The one-to-one positional correlation observed between the periodic structure in 2.2 m infrared brightness and the 2.6 mm CO emission line suggests that the near-infrared sources are strongly associated with dense clouds of molecular hydrogen distributed in the galactic plane.  相似文献

A re-analysis of the diffuse far UV radiation ( 1350–1480 Å) observed in the sky region ofl II180° and 0°b II40° is presented, as a revised version of a paper by Hayakawaet al. (1969). In comparison with the previous one, the value of the half optical depth of the Galazxy in our wavelength region is reduced, and the values of the albedo coefficient and the forward phase functiong are not well determined. If, however, we combine our results with the theoretical model of interstellar grains by Gilra, the value of is given by 0.13(5)0.18(5).  相似文献

Some asymptotic solutions in the restricted problem of three bodies by L. G. Lukjanov.
Some particular solutions of the plane restricted problem of three bodies in the form of Liapunov's series are obtained. These solutions asymptotically approach the Lagrange solutions. Convergence is proved.

The variations of the growth rates of ECM at first four harmonics in X-, Z-, and O-modes excited by a hollow beam distribution of weakly relativistic electrons with a parameter p / e are presented in this paper. The results show that the second harmonic of ECM in X-mode dominates the instability if < 1, and if 1.2 , 2 or 2.2 3 the third or fourth harmonic will dominate. The second and third harmonics of Z-mode waves grow faster only if 2 2.2 and 3 3.2, respectively, so it would not be a competition in most cases. Low-mass strange stars with a crust are investigated within the framework of the bag model. The crust, which consists of degenerate electrons and atomic nuclei, has a limiting boundary density cr , which is determined by the mass of the crust, and it cannot exceed the value drip = 4.3·1011 g/cm3, corresponding to the density at which neutrons drip from nuclei. For different values of cr in the low-mass range (M 0.1 M) we calculate several series of configurations: we find the dependence of the stellar mass M on the central density c for cr = const, with 109 g/cm3 cr drip , and for each series we determine the parameters of the configuration for which the condition dM/d c > 0 is violated. When the boundary density of the crust decreases to 109 g/cm3, the minimum mass of a strange star decreases to M min 10-3 M, while the radius reaches 600 km.  相似文献

Stability of the librational triangular points of the three-dimensional elliptic restricted three-body problem is studied. The problem is solved in the non-linear statement at the small values of eccentricity.For all values ofe, , besides ones which correspond to the resonances of the third and the fourth order the librational points are stable taking into account the terms up to the fourth order in the normal form of the Hamiltonian function of the perturbed motion.At sufficiently smalle and the non-stability in sense of Liapunov has been proved. The approximate equations of the boundary of the stability area in the planee, has been obtained. The cause of the non-stability is an equality of the rotational period of the principal attracting masses in the elliptic orbit and the period of oscillation of indefinitely small mass along the direction perpendicular to the plane of their motion.

In 1937, the Celestial Mechanics and Cosmogony section of the Sternberg State Astronomical Institute undertook the task of evaluating the Gylden-Moulton hypothesis on the origin of the Gegenshein from the standpoint of celestial mechanics. That investigation, which the authors themselves considered preliminary, contains nonetheless a series of important results. For example, G. N. Duboshin showed that in the planar, circular, restricted three-body problem, periodic motion of finite amplitude in the neighborhood of a collinear libration point is unstable according to Lyapunov's criterion both in the proper and in the orbital sense. The latter result is incompatible with the above named hypothesis, and thus appears as one of the serious objections among the many known negative conclusions relative to the existence of the Gylden-Moulton cluster.Unfortunately, most of the specific problems which arose in the above named research have not been considered since. One of these, the problem of the stability of three-dimensional periodic orbits in the neighborhood of a collinear libration point is solved in the present paper, within the limits of the three-dimensional, circular, restricted, three-body problem. Major attention is given to the investigation of stability in the orbital sense, since in the proper sense all orbits are unstable according to Lyapunov theory. It is shown that in order to resolve the question of stability, it is sufficient to consider the equations in their variational form. Analysis of the roots of the corresponding characteristic equations determines the orbital stability of planar and three-dimensional solutions, which later can be confirmed by calculation of the characteristic exponents appearing in the periodic solutions of the N. A. Artemiev method. Finally, the possibility of conditional stability in the linear approximation is proved.

The velocity field in a large complex sunspot is investigated in Fe i 6302.5 Å and in H with a spatial resolution of about 2.5. The Evershed flow is almost parallel to the solar surface. For the inclination angle between the velocity and the horizontal = 4.4°±1.3° is estimated; = 11° is the definite upper limit.  相似文献

We examine a simple statistical consequence of relativistic beaming model using the core-to-lobe flux density ratio (R) and projected linear size (D) as orientation indicators. It is shown that the observed R-D intercept for the 3CRR source sample provides values of the bulk Lorentz factor () which are consistent with the beaming scenario. The result also shows that if the lobe-dominated quasars are to be unified with the core-dominated quasars, they should be oriented at a median angle, _med 40° with respect to the line of sight, but if with powerful radio galaxies, then _med 24°. Application of this result to the quasar-galaxy unification scheme using the observed angular size-redshift relation shows that the scheme is consistent with the observed data.  相似文献

An exact solution of Einstein's equation is stated in which the density (), pressure (p), scale factorS and metric coefficients are functions of only one dimensionless self-similar variable,ct/R, wheret is cosmic time andR is a co-moving radial coordinate. The solution represents a cosmology that begins as a static sphere having R –2 and evolves into an expanding model which is pressure-free and has a hierarchical type of density law ( R , approximately, with =a number, 02). It is suggested that this model should supersede the previous models of Wesson and other workers, since it appears to be the simplest cosmology for a hierarchy.  相似文献

A new version of the theory of pulsar radio emission is developed for the case of a coaxial rotator. It is based on the electric field that we established [G. S. Sahakian, Astrofizika, 37, 97 (1994)] for the radiation channel (the channel of open magnetic field lines) and on convenient approximations for the electron energy obtained in [G. S. Sahakian and É. S. Chubarian, Astrofizika, 37, 255 (1994)]. It is shown that, owing to the emission of photons of curvature radiation by particles, e e+c', and photon annihilation, c e+e in the lower part of the radiation channel, a special region (the magnetic funnel) is formed in which vigorous cascade multiplication of particles occurs. The height of the magnetic funnel is h 6R0.2, where R is the radius of the neutron star and is its angular rotation rate. As a result of supersaturation of the plasma density in the magnetic funnel, a discharge occurs after each time intervalt5·10–7–0.8B 12 –1.4 R 6 –0.2 , i.e., the longitudinal electric field disappears (B is the magnetic induction in the star). During the active radiative processes in the magnetic funnel, two main fluxes of particles with high ultrarelativistic energies are formed: an upward flux of electrons and a positron flux falling onto the star's magnetic cap. These fluxes are accompanied by narrow strips of positron and electron fluxes, respectively, of considerably lower energy, which are fairly powerful, coherent radio sources. The pulsar's radio luminosity is calculated to be L7.4·10223.8 30 3 R 6 –2 erg/sec, where =BR 3/2 is the star's magnetic moment. Comparing this result with observations, we conclude that the magnetic moment and hence the mass of the neutron star evidently must be considerably smaller, on the average, for fast pulsars than for slow ones. It is shown that the magnetic moment of the neutron star can be determined from the intervals between micropulses in the pulse profiles. We present CCD surface photometry of the central region of the bright Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 4151. The observations were obtained under excellent seeing conditions (0.75 FWHM). Morphological parameters for the bulge of the galaxy are estimated from the observed broad bandV, R, andI surface brightness profiles.From the analysis of the colour maps two distinct nuclear structures emerge perpendicular to each other. One of them is elliptically elongated at PA angle 50°. This direction is close to the direction of the radio jets and coincides with the Extended Narrow Emission Line Region (ENELR). Its extension is about 7 arc sec and its colours are bluer than the surronding bulge. The second structure is smaller in extension (about 1 arc sec) and is elongated at PA130°. Its colours are redder than those of the surrounding bulge. Radio emission of isolated magnetic white dwarfs due to invisible axions decay in a strong magnetic field is estimated. From 15:33 through 16:02 UT on 13 June 1998, observations of an erupting filament as it crossed solar disk center were obtained with the NSO/KPVT and SOHO/CDS instruments as part of the SOHO Joint Observing Program 70. Context observations show that this event was the eruption of the north-east section of a small active region filament associated with NOAA 8237, that the photospheric magnetic field was changing in this active region between 12–14 June 1998, and that a coronal Moreton-wave disk event occurred, as well as a white-light CME off the south-west solar limb. The NSO/KPVT imaging spectroscopy data covered 512 × 512 arc sec of the disk center and were spectrally centered at the Hei 1083 nm line and captured ±1.0 nm of surrounding solar spectrum. The Hei absorption line is seen blue-shifted to velocities of between 200 and 300 km s–1. The true solar trajectory of the eruption is obtained by using the projected solar coordinates and by integrating the Doppler velocity. The filament travels with a total velocity of about 300 km s–1 along a path inclined roughly 49 deg to the solar surface and rises to a height of just over 1.5 solar radii before it becomes too diffuse to follow. The filament also shows internal motions with multiple Doppler components shifted by ±25 km s–1. Finally, the KPVT data show no Stokes V profiles in the Doppler-shifted Hei 1083.03 nm absorption to a limit of roughly 3×10–3 times the continuum intensity. The SOHO/CDS scanned the center of the KPVT FOV using seven EUV lines; Doppler-shifted filament emission is seen in lines from Hei 58.4 nm, Heii 30.4 nm, Oiv 55.5 nm, Ov 63.0 nm, Nevi 56.3 nm, and Mgx 61.0 nm representing temperatures from about 2×104K through 1×106K. Bound-free continuum absorption from Hi, without confusion from foreground emission and line emission, is seen as the filament obscures underlying chromospheric emission. A fit to the wavelength dependence of the absorption from five lines between 55.5 to 63.0 nm yields a column density H I =4.8±2.5×1017 cm–2. Spatial maps show that this filament absorption is more confined than the regions which show emission.  相似文献

The power in the different modes of an expansion of the solar radial magnetic field at the surface in terms of Legendre polynomials,P , is calculated with the help of a solar dynamo model studied earlier. The model is of the Babcock–Leighton type, i.e., the surface eruptions of the toroidal magnetic field – through the tilt angle, , formed by the magnetic axis of a bipolar magnetic region with the east-west line – are the sources for the poloidal field. In this paper it is assumed that the tilt angle is subject to fluctuations of the form, = ()+ <> where <> is the average value and () is a random normal fluctuation with standard deviation which is taken from Howard's observations of the distribution of tilt angles. For numerical considerations, negative values of were not allowed. If this occurred, was recalculated. The numerical integrations were started with a toroidal magnetic field antisymmetric across the equator, large enough to generate eruptions, and a negligible poloidal field. The fluctuations in the tilt angle destroy the antisymmetry as time increases. The power of the antisymmetric modes across the equator (i.e., odd values of ) is concentrated in frequencies, p, corresponding to the cycle period. The maximum power lies in the =3 mode with considerable power in the =5 mode, in broad agreement with Stenflo's results who finds a maximum power at =5. For the symmetric modes, there is considerable power in frequencies larger than p, again in broad agreement with Stenflo's power spectrum.  相似文献

The equations of motion of the satellite-damper system are derived omitting consideration of the influence of external torques. The conditions of stability of the stationary spinning are obtained and the optimal parameters of the satellite and the damper ensuring a maximal rate of damping of the nutation motion are determined.  相似文献
