PCBs, Σ DDT (sum of DDT, DDE and DDD) and other chlorinated hydrocarbons were measured in striped mullet (Mullus barbatus) from Saronikos Gulf. The highest values of PCBs and Σ DDT observed were 1100 and 390 ng g?1 (on a fresh weight basis) respectively. The correlation between the above two residues and the distance from the source of pollution, a well as the relationships between Σ DDT and its metabolites were studied.  相似文献

Bivalves (Crassostrea rizhophorae, Isognomon alatus, Codakia orbicularis Linné, and Tellina fausta) and sediment samples collected from 12 locations along the Dominican Republic coastline were used to assess the degree of nearshore contamination by selected chlorinated hydrocarbons and heavy metals. Concentrations of total chlordanes, DDTs and PCBs ranged from 0.51 to 7.47 ng/g, < MDL to 30.9 ng/g and 11.3 to 82.3 ng/g, and from < MDL to 1.73 ng/g, 0.21 to 12.5 ng/g and 0.46 to 41.9 ng/g in bivalves and surface sediments, respectively. The concentration ranges of predominantly anthropogenic Cu, Pb and Zn were 3.08–866 μg/g, 0.08–1.46 μg/g and 22.9–4380 μg/g in bivalve soft parts and 1.01–111 mg/g, 0.420–134 μg/g and 1.96–277 μg/g in surface sediments, respectively. Mercury concentrations ranged from 0.290 to 7.02 μg/g and from 0.096 to 0.565 μg/g in both matrices. The relatively high Hg concentrations found in bivalves from two stations in Bahia Samana, near to a known source of past Hg contamination in the sediments, require a more in-depth survey of the area. In general the concentrations of selected chlorinated hydrocarbons and trace metals, compared with those reported for the same matrices in the Caribbean and west Atlantic coastal areas, show at present the existence of only very localized contamination problems in the Dominican Republic.  相似文献

The bioaccumulation of PCB and DDT compounds by mussels, Mytilus spp., from ambient seawater was determined by measuring concentrations of these chlorinated hydrocarbons in both mussels and seawater at four sites on the Mediterranean coast of France and two sites in California. Bioaccumulation factors were found to vary over an order of magnitude. Ratios of the concentrations of PCB in mussels, consisting predominantly of pentachloro-and hexachlorobiphenyls, to concentrations in ambient seawater ranged between 69 000 and 690 000; the corresponding ratios of concentrations of p,p′-DDE or p,p′-DDT ranged from 40 000 to 690 000. Although mussels appear to be appropriate and convenient indicator organisms of local chlorinated hydrocarbon contamination levels, the factors contributing to this variance must be determined before mussels are widely used in global monitoring programmes.  相似文献

Marine mussels, Perna viridis, were transplanted from a reference site to various polluted sites around Hong Kong. After 30 d of exposure, antioxidative responses in the gills and hepatopancreas and tissue concentrations of chlorinated hydrocarbons [polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and chlorinated pesticides (CPs)] were determined for individual mussels. Glutathione S transferase (GST) and glutathione (GSH) were positively correlated with tissue PCB concentrations. Only one of the enzymatic antioxidants, glutathione peroxidase (GPx), showed significant response to tissue PCB. No significant correlation was found between tissue concentrations of chlorinated hydrocarbons and other enzymatic antioxidants (superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione reductase (GR) and NADPH DT-diaphorase (DT-d). Oxidative stress, measured as thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, was correlated with chlorinated pesticide concentrations in tissues. This study demonstrated a correlation between GST/GSH and chlorinated hydrocarbons. The apparent lack of correlation between trace organic pollutants and some of the enzymatic antioxidants may be due to the inhibitory effects caused by these chemicals. The above results suggest that more investigations are needed before these enzymes can be used as biomarkers.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of biostimulation and bioagumentation strategies applied to harbor sediments displaying reducing conditions and high concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and heavy metals. We compared the microbial efficiency of hydrocarbon removal from sediments maintained for 60 days in anoxic conditions and inoculated with acetate, sulfate-reducing bacterial strains and acetate and sulfate-reducing bacteria. All treatments determined a significant increase in the microbial growth and significant decreases of hydrocarbon contents and of redox potential values. The addition of sulfate-reducing bacterial strains to the sediment was the most efficient treatment for the hydrocarbon removal. In all experiments, significant changes of the heavy metals’ phase repartition were observed. The results reported here suggest that the biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in anoxic marine sediments may be enhanced by stimulating microbial anaerobic metabolism, but care should be applied to monitor the potential changes in the mobility and bioavailability of heavy metals induced by bio-treatments.  相似文献

Microbiological degradation of perchloroethylene (PCE) under anaerobic conditions follows a series of chain reactions, in which, sequentially, trichloroethylene (TCE), cis‐dichloroethylene (c‐DCE), vinylchloride (VC) and ethene are generated. First‐order degradation rate constants, partitioning coefficients and mass exchange rates for PCE, TCE, c‐DCE and VC were compiled from the literature. The parameters were used in a case study of pump‐and‐treat remediation of a PCE‐contaminated site near Tilburg, The Netherlands. Transport, non‐equilibrium sorption and biodegradation chain processes at the site were simulated using the CHAIN_2D code without further calibration. The modelled PCE compared reasonably well with observed PCE concentrations in the pumped water. We also performed a scenario analysis by applying several increased reductive dechlorination rates, reflecting different degradation conditions (e.g. addition of yeast extract and citrate). The scenario analysis predicted considerably higher concentrations of the degradation products as a result of enhanced reductive dechlorination of PCE. The predicted levels of the very toxic compound VC were now an order of magnitude above the maximum permissible concentration levels. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The concentrations of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined in mullet (Liza klunzingeri), water and sediment from northern part of Hormuz strait (Persian Gulf). The concentration levels of total PAHs in L. klunzingeri, water and sediment were 133.99–268.57 ng g−1 dry weight, 3.12–5.88 ng l−1 and 42.29–228.9 ng g−1 dry weight, respectively. Based on isomer ratios, analysis of the PAHs source in the sediment demonstrated that the PAHs come from pyrogenic and petrogenic origin. Risk assessment showed PAHs threshold concentrations to occasionally be exceeded in the study area.  相似文献

Computations of the mean meridional motion field in the stratosphere are applied to ozone distributions to evaluate the associated ozone concentration changes. These changes are compared with those produced by photochemical and quasi-horizontal eddy processes. For the period January–April 1964 there is a cooperative action between the mean and eddy motions with mean subsidence in middle latitudes supplying ozone to be carried polawards and equatorwards by quasi-horizontal eddy processes. At low latitudes mean horizontal motions offset the eddy transport while at high latitudes mean rising motion is the offsetting term. The mean ozone flux through 50 mb, 3.5×1029 molecules sec–1, is comparable with the fluxes evaluated by other techniques.The spring maximum is thought to be due to a modulation of the energy supply to the stratospheric eddies which, in turn, force the mean motions. Longer-term changes are to be expected; for example during Ice Ages when increased tropospheric eddy activity is anticipated there should be higher total ozone.  相似文献

The results of examining the concentrations of 16 major polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are given. The examined samples were taken in the territory of Leningrad province and in the eastern Gulf of Finland in different seasons. Two seasonal natural profiles of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were constructed, conventionally, for the spring and the autumn. The dominating effect on the formation of the profile of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is exerted by pyrogenous pollution sources in winter and petrogenic pollution sources in summer.  相似文献

The biosorption capacity of different cortex fruit wastes including banana (Musa paradisiaca), lemon (Citrus limonum) and orange (Citrus sinensis) peel were evaluated. In order to perform these experiments, grinded dried cortexes were used as package in 100 mm high, 10 mm i.d. columns. The grinded material was powdered in a mortar and passed through a screen in order to get two different particle sizes, 2 and 1 mm, for all powders. To estimate the biosorption capabilities of the tested materials, different heavy metals were passed through the columns and the elution filtrate reloaded different times to increase the retention of metals. The heavy metals used were prepared as synthetic samples at 10 mg/L of Pb(NO3)2, Cd(NO3)2, and Cu(NO3)2·6H2O using primary standards. In preliminary experiments using banana cortex, it was found that material with 1 mm of particle size showed higher retention capability (up to12%) than the material with 2 mm of particle size. Considering these results, 1 mm particle size material was used in further experiments with the other waste materials. It was found that for Pb and Cu removal, lemon and orange cortex showed better biosorption capability when compared with banana cortex (up to 15% less for Pb and 48% less for Cu). For Cd, banana cortex showed better biosorption capability 57% (67.2 mg/g of cortex) more than orange (28.8 mg/g of cortex), and 82% more than lemon (12 mg/g of cortex). Reload of the columns with the filtrate after passing through the column improved the removal capability of all the materials tested from 10% to 50% depending on the cortex and metal tested.  相似文献

Reproductively active ghost crabs appear to be more susceptible to oil pollution than non-active individuals, probably as a consequence of lowered energy reserves. Uptake of hydrocarbons over the 96-h exposure periods was more or less limited to the gill tissue. A relative measure—the ‘aromatic ratio’ — is suggested as a possible means of assessing bioaccumulation.  相似文献

From the viewpoint of environmental remote-sensing applications, this article explains the overall technical characteristics of the Chinese HJ-1A and HJ-1B satellites. It also investigates the spectral characteristics and potential applications of charge-coupled devices, and the infrared and hyperspectral data obtained by the satellites. Examples of applications, such as the remote-sensing monitoring of algal bloom in Taihu Lake, straw burning in southern China, and aerosol optical depth in the area around Bohai sea are presented. These examples illustrate the application characteristics of the HJ-1A and HJ-1B satellite data.  相似文献

Absolute concentration of normal alkanes (n-alkanes) and aromatic hydrocarbons in bitumen extracted from source rocks in the period of thermodegradation from Turpan-Hami Basin suggests that aromatic hydrocarbons are dominant in coal and carbargilite while n-alkanes are dominant in mudstones. Bulkrock analysis and gas chromatograph/mass spectrum (GC-MS) of source rocks shows aromatic hydrocarbons are dominant in total ion chromatograms (TIC) of samples with poor perhydrous macerals while n-alkanes are dominant in TICs of samples with abundant perhydrous macerals. The identification of oil-prone and gas prone property based on GC-MS of bitumen “A” together with bulkrock analysis indicates that source rocks from Shengbei area are more oil-prone while source rocks from Qiudong and Xiaocaohu areas are more gas-prone, coinciding with the distribution of oil and gas reservoirs in Taibei Sag. Ratios used to identify oil-prone and gas-prone property for source rocks from Turpan Basin are proposed: n-alkanes >110 μg·mg?1, aromatics <15 μg·mg?1, and n-alkanes/aromatics >8 for oil-prone source rock bitumen while n-alkanes <82 μg·mg?1, aromatics >40 μg·mg?1, and n-alkanes/aromatics <1.5 for gas-prone source rock bitumen.  相似文献

基于2013 2015年调查获取的129个洞庭湖表层沉积物和底栖生物的调查数据,应用筛分水平浓度法初步探讨了洞庭湖沉积物几种重金属沉积物质量基准的推荐值.结果表明,洞庭湖沉积物砷(As)、镉(Cd)、铬(Cr)、铜(Cu)、铅(Pb)和锌(Zn)含量均值为17.2、2.63、56.9、32.4、38.4和96.3 mg/kg(DW);筛分水平浓度法获取的洞庭湖沉积物As、Cd、Cr、Cu、Pb和Zn质量基准分别为11.97、1.13、42.03、19.17、23.63和67.54 mg/kg(DW).通过与不同国家及地区指定的重金属质量基准推荐值以及本地区采用其他方法推导的重金属基准推荐值进行比较,推算出本研究获取的6种重金属沉积物质量基准推荐值接近所有数据的中间值.对于洞庭湖流域,不同方法获取的沉积物重金属质量基准具有可比性.然而,鉴于用于推导沉积物质量基准的数据采集涉及的区域较为有限,且除了重金属污染外,影响底栖生物分布的因素较为复杂,导致获取的沉积物重金属质量基准推荐值存在一定的不确定性.  相似文献
