Mean wind speed profiles were measured by tracking radiosondes in the unstable atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) over the forested Landes region in southwestern France. New Monin-Obukhov stability correction functions, recently proposed following an, analysis by Kader and Yaglom, as well as the Businger-Dyer stability formulation were tested, with wind speeds in the surface sublayer to calculate the regional shear stress. These profile-derived shear stresses were compared with eddy correlation measurements gathered above a mature forest stand, at a location roughly, 4.5 km from the radiosonde launch site. The shear stress values obtained by means of the newly proposed stability function were in slightly better agreement with the eddy correlation values than those obtained by means of a Businger-Dyer type stability function. The general robustness of the profile method can be attributed in part to prior knowledge of the regional surface roughness (z
0=1.2 m) and the momentum displacement height (d

Abstract A physically‐based numerical model was developed to estimate the temporal course of the surface energy flux densities and the soil temperatures in dry and wet bare soils. Aerodynamic heat, vapour and momentum transfer theory was used to calculate the sensible and latent heat flux densities at the surface under diabatic and adiabatic conditions. A finite‐difference solution of the differential equation describing one‐dimensional heat transfer was used to calculate the surface soil heat flux density and soil profile temperatures. The surface temperature was determined iteratively by the simultaneous solution of equations describing radiative, heat and momentum transfer at the surface. The model was tested with measurements from energy balance studies conducted on a dry, sandy soil and a wet, silt loam soil, and was found to predict accurately the surface energy fluxes and soil temperatures over three‐day periods under conditions of potential and negligible evaporation. The sensitivity of the model to uncertainties in the aerodynamic roughness lengths for momentum (z0) and heat (zT) is reported. Values for z0 and Z0/ZT of 0.5 mm and 3.0, respectively, resulted in the best agreement between modelled and measured values of the fluxes and temperatures for both soils. 相似文献

在众多种针对云垂直结构的探测中,毫米波雷达可获取云底、云顶、云厚等完整的云垂直结构信息,并可以连续监测云的垂直剖面变化,是有力的探测手段之一。而无线电探空因其直接的测量优势,能直观、确切地描述大气湿度垂直结构,可将其进一步处理生成云垂直结构信息,并作为一种数据源用于与毫米波雷达云垂直结构探测结果进行比对,以评估毫米波雷达针对云宏观垂直结构的探测性能,为毫米波雷达更好地应用于云探测提供参考。通过获取位于北京南郊观象台的毫米波雷达2014年10月28日至2015年2月17日长达113天连续观测的反射率因子以及探空温、压、湿数据,设计或选取合适的方法对二者进行云边界的计算,并进行云高(包括云底高和云顶高)以及云层数的一致性比对分析。结果认为,除对于高层云的云顶高度毫米波雷达由于探测限制不能探测到10 km以上的云顶,某些时刻与探空产生较大差异外,在云底高度以及中低云的云顶高度上可以与探空观测取得很好的匹配效果,对于云的垂直分层上二者也有较强的一致性。该毫米波雷达具有较为准确并连续刻画10 km以下云垂直结构的能力。 相似文献

This study documents the variability of surface sensible and latent heat fluxes in five regions of China (Northwest China, the Tibetan Plateau, Northeast China, North China, and Southeast China) using the ERA-40 reanalysis for the years 1960–2000. The surface sensible and latent heat flux variations are remarkably different in Northwest and Southeast China. The seasonal variation of the surface sensible heat fluxes is largest in Northwest China and smallest in Southeast China. In contrast, the seasonal variation in latent heat flux is largest in Southeast China and smallest in Northwest China. The interdecadal variation of surface sensible and surface latent heat fluxes strongly depends on both the region and season. The trends in surface sensible and latent heat fluxes in all four seasons are mainly caused by variations in both the land–air temperature difference and in the specific humidity. There is also a limited contribution of wind speed in some regions, depending on the season. 相似文献

When the wind profiles measured at the 200 m meteorological tower at Cabauw are observed, we see that under nearly neutral conditions two logarithmic parts can be distinguished with a junction at about 20 m height. This is attributed to perturbations in the upstream surface condition. Two effects are important, viz., the increase of shear stress with height, and deviations from the ordinary flux-profile relationships. The former effect is illustrated by means of a simple model for sparsely distributed obstructions in a smooth area. The latter effect is discussed on the basis of existing data on heat and momentum fluxes. Conclusions are drawn about the possibility of deriving fluxes from profiles in perturbed situations. 相似文献

The ability of a high resolution (T106) version of the ECHAM3 general circulation model to simulate regional scale surface radiative fluxes has been assessed using observations from a new compilation of worldwide instrumentally-measured surface fluxes (Global Energy Balance Archive, GEBA). The focus is on the European region where the highest density of observations is found, and their use for the validation of global and regional climate models is demonstrated. The available data allow a separate assessment of the simulated fluxes of surface shortwave, longwave, and net radiation for this region. In summer, the incoming shortwave radiation calculated by the ECHAM3/T106 model is overestimated by 45 W m–2 over most of Europe, which implies a largely unrealistic forcing on the model surface scheme and excessive surface temperatures. In winter, too little incoming shortwave radiation reaches the model surface. Similar tendencies are found over large areas of the mid-latitudes. These biases are consistent with deficiencies in the simulation of cloud amount, relative humidity and clear sky radiative transfer. The incoming longwave radiation is underestimated at the European GEBA stations predominantly in summer. This largely compensates for the excessive shortwave flux, leading to annual mean net radiation values over Europe close to observations due to error cancellation, a feature already noted in the simulated global mean values in an earlier study. Furthermore, the annual cycle of the simulated surface net radiation is strongly affected by the deficiencies in the simulated incoming shortwave radiation. The high horizontal resolution of the GCM allows an assessment of orographically induced flux gradients based on observations from the European Alps. Although the model-calculated and observed flux fields substantially differ in their absolute values, several aspects of their gradients are realistically captured. The deficiencies identified in the model fields are generally consistent at most stations, indicating a high degree of representativeness of the measurements for their larger scale setting. 相似文献

In studies of weather changes and, especially, in enhancing the performance of rainfall prediction, it is important to measure the water vapor distribution in the atmosphere. We estimated atmospheric water vapor profiles for fourteen days, including periods of severe weather conditions, by processing ground-based Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements and compared our results with microwave radiometer (MWR) and radiosonde (RAOB) observations. As a result, we found that the standard deviation (STD) of wet refractivity profiles between GPS with MWR was smaller than the STD between RAOB and MWR refractivities; the average STD was 9.3 mm km?1. In particular, we found that GPS-based wet refractivities detected inversion layers close to those from MWR when the observed GPS satellites were well distributed in the azimuth and elevation angle directions. When the satellite geometry was better, the mean error of GPS wet refractivities with respect to MWR was reduced to 0.4 from 3.2 mm km?1 for altitudes lower than 3 km. In some cases, however, the precision of GPS refractivities are lower than that of RAOB ones relative to MWR results. 相似文献

A computational scheme is developed for estimating turbulent surface stress, sensible heat flux and humidity flux from mean velocity, temperature and humidity at a single height in the atmospheric surface layer; conditions at this reference level are presumed known from observations or from a numerical atmospheric circulation model. The method is based on coupling a Monin-Obukhov similarity profile to a force-restore formulation for the evolution of surface soil temperature to yield the local values of shear stress, heat flux and surface temperature. A self-contained formulation is presented including parameterizations for solar and infrared radiant flux at the surface.In addition to reference-level mean flow properties, the parameters needed to implement the scheme are thermal heat capacity of the soil, surface aerodynamic roughness, latitude, solar declination, surface albedo, surface emissivity and atmospheric transmissivity.Sample calculations are presented for (a), constant atmospheric forcing at the reference level, and (b) variable atmospheric forcing corresponding to Kahle's (1977) measurements of windspeed, air temperature and radiometer soil surface temperature under dry vegetatively sparse conditions in the Mohave Desert in California. Thermal infrared images from Landsat satellites are used to derive land surface temperatures (LST) and to calculate the intensity of the surface urban heat island (UHI) during the summer season in and around the city of Brno (Czech Republic). Overall relief, land use structure, and the distribution of built-up areas determine LST and UHI spatial variability in the study area. Land-cover classes, amount and vigor of vegetation, and density of built-up areas are used as explanatory variables. The highest LST values typically occur in industrial and commercial areas, which contribute significantly to surface UHI intensity. The intensity of surface UHI, defined as the difference between mean LST for urban and rural areas, reached 4.2 and 6.7 °C in the two images analyzed. Analysis of two surface characteristics in terms of the amount of vegetation cover, represented by normalized difference vegetation index, demonstrates the predominance of LST variability (56–67 % of explained variance) over the degree of urbanization as represented by density of buildings (37–40 % of LST variance). 相似文献

We describe the results of an experiment focusing on wind speed and momentum fluxes in the atmospheric boundary layer up to
200 m. The measurements were conducted in 1996 at the Cabauw site in the Netherlands. Momentum fluxes are measured using the
K-Gill Propeller Vane. Estimates of the roughness length are derived using various techniques from the wind speed and flux
measurements, and the observed differences are explained by considering the source area of the meteorological parameters.
A clear rough-to-smooth transition is found in the wind speed profiles at Cabauw. The internal boundary layer reaches the
lowest k-vane (20 m) only in the south-west direction where the obstacle-free fetch is about 2 km. The internal boundary layer
is also reflected in the roughness lengths derived from the wind speed profiles. The lower part of the profile (< 40 m) is
not in equilibrium and no reliable roughness analysis can be given. The upper part of the profile can be linked to a large-scale
roughness length. Roughness lengths derived from the horizontal wind speed variance and gustiness have large footprints and
therefore represent a large-scale average roughness. The drag coefficient is more locally determined but still represents
a large-scale roughness length when it is measured above the local internal boundary layer. The roughness length at inhomogeneous
sites can therefore be determined best from drag coefficient measurements just above the local internal boundary layers directly,
or indirectly from horizontal wind speed variance or gustiness. In addition, the momentum and heat fluxes along the tower
are analysed and these show significant variation with height related to stability and possibly surface heterogeneity. It
appears that the dimensionless wind speed gradients scale well with local fluxes for the variety of conditions considered,

为了将基于NOAA-9/AVHRR数据提出的Becker和Li的“分裂窗”地表温度算法成功地应用于长序列NOAA/AVHRR和FY 3A/VIRR数据的地表温度反演,为气候变化研究提供长序列、高精度、高分辨率的地表温度数据集,从辐射传输方程出发,首先利用MODTRA 4.1模式模拟了多种地表和大气状态下的光谱辐亮度数据,并结合AVHRR和VIRR通道4、5的光谱响应函数建立了温度数据集(TS,T4,T5);然后,基于该数据集采用最小二乘法重新计算了Becker和Li算法中的各参数,提出了一个适用于NOAA/AVHRR和FY-3A/VIRR数据的改进型Becker和Li分裂窗地表温度反演算法;并利用改进型算法对2008年4月27日03时12分(世界时)观测的一景覆盖北京地区的NOAA-17/AVHRR数据进行了地表温度的反演,将反演结果与日本东京大学提供的同地区、同时相的MODIS地表温度产品进行了对比分析.结果表明,两种地表温度产品的相关系数为0.88,均方根偏差(RMSD)为2.1K;在两种地表温度差值图像的频率直方图上有69.6%的像元的值在±2K之内,37%的像元的值在±1K之内. 相似文献

The series ofair temperature anomalies inthe free atmosphere from radiosonde and satellite data are compared. Along with the well-known datasets of leading foreign centers, the datasets are considered of monthly temperature anomalies for isobaric surfaces and tropospheric and lower tropospheric layers obtained in the All-Russian Research Institute of Hydrometeoroiogical Information-World Data Center (RIHMI-WDC) from the data of the global network of radiosonde observations. Following numerous literature sources, the study corroborates that it is impossible to detect the so called tropospheric amplification of warming in observational data. The results of the comparison of statistical parameters for different series of air temperature anomalies prove that the RIHMI-WDC dataset is appropriate for solving the problems of climate monitoring on the assessment of air temperature in the free atmosphere. A doubtless advantage of these datasets for the preparation of the data of monitoring and diagnosis of the current climate is that their operational update is possible by processing new monthly portions of radiosonde data for the global network. The other advantage is that they do not depend on the modes of series update in the foreign sources. 相似文献

Questions related to the spatial integration of turbulent surface fluxes of heat and moisture up to horizontal scales of 100km are discussed. Results taken from the HAPEX-MOBILHY programme are presented, concerning either comparisons between surface-based and aircraft measurements, or estimates derived from numerical simulations of the large-scale hydrological balance, or finally area-averaged values obtained from atmospheric numerical mesoscale models. 云变化迅速且类型复杂,获取准确的云观测信息具有一定挑战。本文使用2001-2010年期间南部大平原的大气辐射观测实验数据,定量评估了探空和地基主动遥感观测六种类型云(低云、中低云、高中低云、中云、高中云、高云)的一致性和差异。尽管探空和地基观测六类云的云量变化趋势相近,但是针对不同类型云,两者探测结果存在一定差异,其中高云差异最大。两者对中低云、中云和高中云的云底高度的观测吻合较好,对中低云和高云的云顶高度的观测差异较大,对所有类型云的云厚度的观测均吻合较好。 相似文献
