本文基于南极半岛鲍威尔海盆南部D3-7沉积岩芯粒度分析数据,采用粒度累积概率曲线、散点图和CM图来研究古沉积环境,其中CM图效果最好。结果表明,构成D3-7岩芯的各种碎屑在搬运到研究区至沉积到海底前过程中呈静水悬浮状态;首次按照古沉积水动力环境条件,将南极半岛鲍威尔海盆南部沉积演化分成四个阶段,从单一静水沉积方式→多种沉积方式→单一静水沉积方式→多种沉积方式,并发现演化具有循环性特征。剖面中的粗组分搬运过程中需要较大的启动能量,推断物源和搬运与冰筏作用、火山活动有关。  相似文献

Summary. The spatial anisotropy of P -wave velocities was investigated in spherical samples of granodiorite and quartzite and correlated with the orientation of microcracks and grain boundaries, determined optically by universal stage techniques. The preferred orientation of normals to cleavage cracks of biotite and amphibole in granodiorite correlates well with the direction of maximum velocity increase under hydrostatic pressure, although the minerals form only nine per cent of the volume. Irregular microcracks in an almost monomineral quartzite have only a very small effect on the velocity anisotropy, although they are also preferentially oriented. The nature of the microdiscontinuities is of primary importance for the velocity anisotropy observed at atmospheric and low hydrostatic pressures.  相似文献

The dynamical flattening of the Earth, as observed by geodetic techniques, is different by about 1 per cent from the value associated with the PREM density profile with hydrostatic equilibrium. In this paper, we compute a new dynamical flattening H induced by PREM mean density with hydrostatic equilibrium, to which we add lateral heterogeneities associated with (1) seismic velocity variations observed by tomography and (2) internal boundary topographies. First, we compute mantle circulation associated with the density anomalies derived from a tomography model. The flow-induced boundary deformations are then converted into additional mass anomalies which are added to the tomography model for computing the associated perturbation to the Earth's inertia tensor. Finally, we show that it is possible to obtain a dynamical flattening from the total inertia tensor (i.e. the sum of the PREM inertia tensor and of the perturbation) in agreement with that observed.  相似文献

Glacially derived sediments and structures vary systematically with topographic position along ice-contact slopes near the margin of former temperate piedmont glaciers in the southern Lake District, Chile. Features along lower positions of the slopes include glaciolacustrine sediments and large-scalethrusting. Middle slope features include low-angle subglacial thrusting of thin slices of lacustrine sediment. Upper slope features include high-angle thrusting, and lodgement and flow till. Locally, the same ordering of these features occurs in vertical sequence.
A common theme that unifies the processes represented by these features is the distribution of hydrostatic pressure. Thicker ice (producing higher glacier overburden pressures) and aquicludes of fine-grained sediments toward the center of the basin result in high hydrostatic pressures, whereas thin ice and porous out-wash reduce these pressures at the top of the ice-contact slopes.However, such a distribution cannot completely explain the observed vertical sequences; hence, local variations in hydrostatic pressure because of lithologic contrasts probably play a role. Nowhere along the ice-contact slope are pervasively deformed glacial sediments observed; therefore they cannot be invoked to explain the low glacier profiles of these piedmont glacier lobes.  相似文献

Summary. The effect of attenuation on the coupling of nearly resonant multiplets in the Earth's free oscillation spectrum is investigated and numerical results are presented for several of the most strongly coupled low frequency multiplet pairs. The coupling influences considered are those of the Coriolis forces due to rotation and of the Earth's hydrostatic ellipticity of figure. It is found that the effects of attenuation (in particular the difference in Q −1 for the two multiplets) can significantly change the splitting diagrams and the degree to which coupling takes place. The Q values for the coupled singlets are, in general, all different and lie between the two Q values of the uncoupled multiplet pair. In addition it is shown that the diagonal sum rule may be readily extended to sets of coupled multiplets.  相似文献

Hydrostatic or “normal” pressure can be easily visualized as a water column with pressure given by ρgh and any departures classified as abnormal pressure. This is the basis for commonly used hydrostatic pressure depth trends in sedimentary basins that are constructed on assumptions of constant gradients and are datumed at mean sea level or ground level. But the straightforward water column concept does not upscale in a simple way to sedimentary basins where the zones of interest are several thousands of metres below the land or sea surface. Sedimentary basins are heterogeneous, including stacked, confined reservoirs and variations in pore water composition. It is possible to construct pressure-depth profiles that honour the geology and hydrostratigraphy of a basin and these give different hydrostatic baselines from simple constant gradients hung from familiar local datums such as ground level. Key steps are using a reservoir-specific datums such as the water table or potentiometric surface relevant to that unit, then building a pressure-depth trend that represents the pore fluid salinity variation and density profile throughout the reservoir unit. At a given depth, this version of hydrostatic may predict pressures several hundred psi different from a single density gradient hung from a datum local to the well, and exhibit a notched profile reflecting the geological and hydrological stratigraphy. This construct redefines normal and abnormal pore fluid pressures in sedimentary basins. The impacts of this alternative approach to sedimentary basin hydrostatics, even if data are limited and pressure profiles have to be framed probabilistically, extend to many aspects of studying and interacting with fluid systems in sedimentary basins including basin modelling, petroleum systems analysis, well planning and well operations.  相似文献

根据饱和砂土地层地震液化现象及饱和砂土动力学试验所观察到的现象,本文从砂粒-孔隙水两相介质相互作用的角度出发,研究饱和砂土在振动荷载作用下的液化过程和机制。研究结果表明,饱和砂土受振,砂粒相对滑动并重新排列,孔隙率降低,孔隙水受压产生超静孔水压力并不断增大,部分孔隙水挤出渗流,隙水渗流对砂粒产生渗流压力。渗流压力与超静孔隙水压力迭加,形成的上托力等于或大于砂粒水中重力时,砂粒在隙水中处于悬浮状态。此时,饱和砂土宏观上表现为液态。为此,根据下沉砂粒与向上渗流孔隙水之间相对运动过程中的动力作用特征,建立了描述饱和砂土液化过程的模型和液化判据。  相似文献

Summary. A relation is obtained between the true value of the moment of inertia of a planet and the value calculated from the dynamical form factor, J 2, on the assumption of hydrostatic equilibrium. The result is applied to Mars and it is shown that the difference between the true and calculated moments of inertia is probably insignificant in considering models of the interior of Mars and in particular does not affect an argument for a core based on models calculated by Lyttleton.  相似文献

The Amery Ice Shelf is the largest ice shelf in East Antarctica.A new DEM was generated for this ice shelf,using kriging to interpolate the data from ICESat altimetry and the AIS-DEM.The ice thickness distribution map is conver ted from the new DEM,assuming hydrostatic equilibrium.The Amery Ice Shelf mari ne ice,up to 230 m thick,is concentrated in the northwest of the ice shelf.Th e volume of the marine ice is 2.38×10~3 km~3 and accounts for about 5.6% of t he shelf volume.  相似文献

This paper is a meta-analysis of recent domestic and foreign research on freezing-thawing effects on concrete durability. The main theories on the mechanisms of freeze-thaw damage to concrete are introduced: the hydrostatic pressure theory, the osmotic pressure theory, the critical water saturation degree theory, the dual mechanism theory, and the micro-ice-crystal lens model theory. The influence laws of freezing-thawing on the mechanical properties of concrete are summarized, and countermeasures to improve concrete durability in freezing-thawing circumstances are presented. This work provides valuable references for future engineering constructions in cold regions.  相似文献

Summary. The flexure of an incompressible, thick elastic plate floating on an inviscid substratum and subject to an external gravity field is re-analysed. The solution is derived from momentum equations which account for the advection of hydrostatic pre-stress. This is contrasted with a recently published thick-plate solution derived from momentum equations without a pre-stress term. It is demonstrated that neglecting pre-stress advection renders the solution singular when the model degenerates into an inviscid half-space. If pre-stress advection is included, the solution remains correct in this limit. A numerical comparison of both types of thick-plate solution with results based on conventional thin-plate theory further shows that, for geophysically relevant models, the difference in the momentum balance entails discrepancies between the thick-plate solutions which are comparable to the errors introduced by the thin-plate approximation.  相似文献

Summary. A new method is proposed for the geopotential field computation and gravitational attraction modelling. The usual method is to use a uniform density discrete numerical integration to represent either the gravitational potential or the gravitational attraction from a given density configuration. In this paper, an interpolation scheme is explained, using a piecewise continuous basis function to represent the arbitrarily varying density configuration in one, two and three dimensions. This new approach greatly simplifies the potential integrations and, in certain cases where symmetry exists, analytical evaluation of the integrals is also possible. Numerical tests and examples are given for a hypothetical salt dome, a vertical dyke with varying density structure and the hydrostatic ellipticity of earth model 1066B. The numerical error in this method is limited to the analytical approximation and interpolation errors in each case. This new approach can also be used as efficiently for other potential field studies.  相似文献

Ice blisters, typically 0.2–0.8 m high and 5–20 m long, develop annually on perennially frozen lakes in Northern Victoria Land. They are believed to be caused by hydrostatic pressures generated through progressive freezing of solute-rich water beneath the lake-ice cover during winter. Lake-ice blisters in the study area differfrom icing blisters described from the northern hemisphere. The latter are caused by hydraulic pressures and are found at locations such as river beds or spring sites on sloping terrain. The Antarctic lake-ice blisters reflect the occurrence of dry-based perennially frozen lakes with high salt contents in an extremely cold and arid environment.  相似文献

An unusually wide variety of pingo landforms located within a relatively restricted 50 km2 area of thick surficial sediments and permafrost is documented. Pingo growth and decay may occur independent of climatic change as witnessed by examples of embryonic, active and collapsed/collapsing features. The presence of deep kettle lakes in the area probably creates a dynamic system of interlinked taliks which influence the groundwater supply to centres of ground ice growth. The field relationships suggest that the pingo growth mechanisms may embrace both hydrostatic and hydraulic processes. All the pingos post-date the Last Glacial Maximum ice retreat and the youngest was actively growing in AD 1981.  相似文献

接地线是内陆固定冰盖和漂浮冰架的分界线,其位置的准确界定直接影响到南极冰盖物质平衡的计算。随着技术的发展,接地线的提取手段已经逐步从小范围的实地无线电回波测厚和GPS探测,发展到大范围的遥感观测。遥感观测主要包括4种技术手段,即流体静力学平衡、坡度分析、重复轨道分析以及差分干涉测量。以遥感观测为基础,国际上已发布5种全南极接地线产品,包括MOA、ASAID、ICESat、MEaSUREs以及Synthesized接地线产品。随着卫星数据源的丰富,改进接地线提取方法并高精度提取接地线,扩大接地线研究的时间尺度并对全南极进行长时序的接地线动态变化监测,结合冰架底部消融、冰底地形和海洋温度等参数,深入分析其变化原因和机制以及接地线变化与气候变化相互关系的建模等,将会成为南极接地线研究的新热点。  相似文献

Summary. Numerous studies have indicated that the annual term in the polar motion cannot be explained in any detail by meteorological/hydrological excitation and no reasonable alternative excitations have been put forward. Part of the problem has been that the hydrostatic adjustment of the oceans to the atmospheric pressure changes has traditionally been computed using the inverse barometer approach. This approach does not properly model the gravitational interaction between the atmosphere and oceans, and the inverse barometer theory is modified in this paper to account for this properly. The information necessary to compute the ocean tide and polar excitation caused by any change in the atmospheric pressure pattern is presented. The results of the application of this theory to two global atmospheric pressure data sets are examined and compared to results of other workers.
It is concluded that the atmosphere is observed well enough to answer the question of the annual excitation of polar motion and it is argued that the ground water excitation is the component with the largest error and remains the chief obstacle to the successful solution of this problem.  相似文献

The complex pressure and porosity fields observed in the Eugene Island (EI) 330 field (offshore Louisiana) are thought to result from sediment loading of low-permeability strata. In this field, fluid pressures rise with depth from hydrostatic to nearly lithostatic, iso-pressure surfaces closely follow stratigraphic surfaces which are sharply offset by growth-faulting, and porosity declines with effective stress. A one-dimensional hydrodynamic model simulates the evolution of pressure and porosity in this system. If reversible (elastic) compaction is assumed, sediment loading is the dominant source of overpressure (94%). If irreversible (inelastic) compaction and permeability reduction due to clay diagenesis are assumed, then thermal expansion of pore fluids and clay dehydration provide a significant component of overpressure (>20%). The model is applied to wells on the upthrown and downthrown sides of the major growth fault in the EI 330 field. Assuming that sediment loading is the only pressure source and that permeability is a function of lithology and porosity, the observed pressure and porosity profiles are reproduced. Observation and theory support a conceptual model where hydrodynamic evolution is intimately tied to the structural and stratigraphic evolution of this progradational deltaic system.

灌溉是农业发展的根本,没有灌溉就没有荒漠区农业。利用美国NCAR中尺度模式MM5V3模拟了喷灌与不同水量地灌以及没有灌溉对绿洲土壤湿度、地下径流以及感热、潜热通量的不同影响。结果表明:①地灌后地表蒸发与植被层的蒸腾更旺盛,散失的水分更多;而喷灌可以抑制地表蒸发与植被层的蒸腾,对土壤水的保持更有利。②喷灌试验要在土壤湿度达饱和以后才会形成地下径流量,而地灌试验则是土壤湿度与地下径流量同时增长。总之,喷灌方式是一种高效节水的灌溉方式,它比其它灌溉方法更有利于绿洲农业生态系统的温度整体降低,不论土壤湿度还是大气湿度都会相应增大,抑制地表土壤水分的蒸发,有利于绿洲农业维持。  相似文献

During the past ten years or so there has been considerable discussion in the literature regarding the author's 1963 contention that (neglecting temperature effects and spin) the Earth's liquid core cannot be stable unless the Adams-Williamson condition relating density distribution and compressibility holds there.
The present paper throws light on this question by showing mathematically that a sphere of gravitating compressible liquid cannot be internally stable unless this condition is fulfilled. Physical reasons for the necessity of this condition, which implies that particles of the liquid are in neutral equilibrium, are also discussed. By internal stability is meant stability of the density distribution while the spherical shape is maintained.
The question of shape stability is not treated here, since it may be assumed that the Earth's mantle is sufficiently rigid to keep the core essentially spherical.
The liquid is assumed to be a perfect fluid, elastic, and in the discussion only small strains are considered from an equilibrium configuration of initial hydrostatic stress. Furthermore thermodynamic effects are neglected and there is no spin.  相似文献

The most well known sub‐glacial lake is probably Grímsvötn under Vatnajökul, Iceland, from where jökulhlaups regularly burst forth. It is created by thermal melting under the ice cap. The Antarctic Lake Vostok, on the other hand, is considered to be located over a region with normal geothermal heat transfer, where it can exist because the ice is so thick that its base is at the pressure melting point. This makes it a candidate for testing the captured ice shelf (CIS) hypothesis, which states that the motion of a totally confined ice shelf creates a hydrostatic seal in the form of an ice rim over the threshold. The CIS hypothesis may offer a source of water for the controversial Laurentian jökulhlaups inferred from field data, implicated in dramatic climatic changes. Here I show that Lake Vostok agrees with the hypothesis, and that it may be on the verge of a jökulhlaup, which could create an ice stream and regional downdraw. The result also implies that the lake may well be of pre‐glacial origin, and that it may have experienced jökulhlaups during previous interglacials.  相似文献
