Detrital zircon U–Pb ages have been shown to be a powerful tool for provenance analysis and determining the exhumation of sediment source areas. This paper presents the results of detrital zircon LA-ICPMS U–Pb ages for Cretaceous sediments from the Yichang area of the Jianghan Basin, central China. The results provide new information on the provenance of these sediments and the detailed exhumation process of the Huangling Dome. Zircons with different age populations have been derived from the strata of the Huangling Dome. The Liantuo, Gucheng and Nantuo formations and the Kongling complex were exhumed, leading to deposition of the early Cretaceous Wulong Formation, which provides the sources of zircons with age peaks at 3.1–3.0, 2.5 and 1.8 Ga. Exhumation of the Huangling granitoid and contemporary volcanics provided the source of the late Cretaceous Luojingtan Formation, which contains zircons with age peaks at 1.1–0.95 and 0.83–0.74 Ga. The Qinling-Dabie orogeny supplied zircons with an age cluster of 0.27 to 0.18 Ga. These results indicate the timing of initial exhumation for the Huangling granite. They also show how overlying strata was first uplifted and eroded, followed by exposure of underlying strata at the surface during continued exhumation. 相似文献

The South China Block was built up by the assembly of the Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks along the Neoproterozoic Jiangnan Orogenic Belt. The timing of the Jiangnan Orogeny remains controversial. The widespread orogeny–related Neoproterozoic angular unconformity that separates the underlying folded Sibao (ca.1000–820 Ma) and overlying Danzhou (ca.800–720 Ma) Groups was investigated. Six sedimentary samples, below and above the unconformity in three distal localities (Fanjingshan, Madiyi, and Sibao) yield detrital zircon with UPb ages ranging from 779 ± 16 Ma to 3006 ± 36 Ma, with a prominent peak at ca. 852 Ma. The youngest ages of 832 ± 11 Ma and 779 ± 16 Ma are revealed for the underlying Sibao and overlying Danzhou Groups, respectively. The detrital zircon UPb age relative probability plot of the Jiangnan Orogen matches well with those of the Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks since ca. 865 Ma. Integrating geological, geochemical and geochronological results, we suggest that the Paleo–South China Ocean began to subduct under the Yangtze block at ca. 1000 Ma, and was partly closed at ca. 865 Ma. Afterwards, the Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks initially collide at 865 Ma, forming the Jiangnan Orogen. This collision resulted in not only the folding of the Sibao Group, but also sediment deposition in a syn-collisional setting, which makes the upper part of the Sibao Group. The youngest S-type granite dated at ca. 820 Ma that intruded in the Sibao Group marks the late stage of the Jiangnan Orogeny. 相似文献

TPost-orogenic intrusive complexes from the Sulu belt of eastern China consist of pyroxene monzonites and dioritic porphyrites. We report new U–Pb zircon ages, geochemical data, and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic data for these rocks. Laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry U–Pb zircon analyses yielded a weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 127.4 ± 1.2 Ma for dioritic porphyrites, consistent with crystallization ages (126 Ma) of the associated pyroxene monzonites. The intrusive complexes are characterized by enrichment in light rare earth elements and large ion lithophile elements (i.e. Rb, Ba, Pb, and Th) and depletion in heavy rare earth elements and high field strength elements (i.e. Nb, Ta, P, and Ti), high (87Sr/86Sr)i ranging from 0.7083 to 0.7093, low ?Nd(t) values from ?14.6 to ? 19.2, 206Pb/204Pb = 16.65–17.18, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.33–15.54, and 208Pb/204Pb = 36.83–38.29. Results suggest that these intermediate plutons were derived from different sources. The primary magma-derived pyroxene monzonites resulted from partial melting of enriched mantle hybridized by melts of foundered lower crustal eclogitic materials before magma generation. In contrast, the parental magma of the dioritic porphyrites was derived from partial melting of mafic lower crust beneath the Wulian region induced by the underplating of basaltic magmas. The intrusive complexes may have been generated by subsequent fractionation of clinopyroxene, potassium feldspar, plagioclase, biotite, hornblende, ilmenite, and rutile. Neither was affected by crustal contamination. Combined with previous studies, these findings provide evidence that a Neoproterozoic batholith lies beneath the Wulian region. 相似文献

Lincang granite is a batholith located in the Sanjiang region and is an important research subject for understanding subduction and collision during the Paleo-Tethyan period. It is widely exposed in the Lincang Terrane and extends south into Burma. Based on various petrological and geochemical investigations performed from south to north across the Lincang granite, a new set of data, which includes zircon chronological and Hf isotopic data, is presented to discuss the origin of the Lincang granite and its tectonic significance. The Lincang granite is a peraluminous, high-K calc-alkaline body with sub-parallel REE patterns and a strong negative Eu anomaly. This anomaly is characteristic of a post-collision peraluminous S-type granitic batholith. The 200–230 Ma formation age of the Lincang granite was determined using LA-ICP-MS zircon U–Pb dating. Thus, it has been confirmed that the granite formed during the late Triassic period, and the formation process lasted for approximately 30 Ma. Geochemical and isotopic compositions indicate that the primary magma of Lincang granite most likely originated from a crustal source, and possibly underwent an assimilation–fractionation crystallization (AFC) process during its emplacement. The Lincang granite formed during the continental collision between the Baoshan–Gengma Terrane and the Lanping–Simao Terrane after the northeast subduction of the Paleo-Tethyan Oceanic Plate. Therefore, the late Triassic Lincang granite is important evidence for the closure of the Paleo-Tethyan Ocean. 相似文献

The Mongol–Okhotsk Belt, a major structural element of East Asia, is probably the youngest orogenic segment within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. However, the timing of final closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean remains unresolved. Here, we present detrital zircon U–Pb–Hf isotopic data and whole-rock geochemical data (major and trace elements and Sm-Nd isotopes) for the metasedimentary rocks from the Un'ya–Bom Terrane, Dzhagdy Terrane, and the eastern part of the Tukuringra Terrane. Our new zircon U-Pb ages suggest that all sedimentary formations along the Dzhagdy Transect are early Mesozoic in age, rather than Paleozoic as previously thought. The detrital zircons from the metasedimentary rocks in the Un'ya–Bom Terrane, the Dzhagdy Terrane, and the eastern part of the Tukuringra Terrane yielded the youngest concordant ages of 194 ± 4, 193 ± 2, and 171 ± 2 Ma, respectively. Moreover, we note that the so-called sedimentary formations of these terranes are not single sedimentary sequences as previously suggested, but a set of an olistostrome or tectonic mélanges composed of rocks of different ages and origins. These sedimentary formations are probably relics of the Mongol–Okhotsk remnant basin that formed in the “gaps” between the southern margin of the North Asian Craton and the Amur Block during their collision. The absence of detrital zircons younger than 171 Ma in the sedimentary rocks of the Mongol–Okhotsk basin implies that the final closure of this basin could have taken place at the boundary of the Early and Middle Jurassic as a result of the collision or the development of the Mongol–Okhotsk orogenic belt in this region. After that, the Mongol–Okhotsk Belt underwent intense deformation related to within-plate strike-slip faulting, which could be attributed to the late Mesozoic rotation of the North Asian Craton relative to the continental massifs of East Asia. 相似文献

Post-orogenic mafic rocks from Northeast China consist of swarms of dolerite dikes. We report a new U–Pb zircon age, as well as whole-rock geochemical and Sr–Nd–Hf isotopic data. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA–ICP–MS) U–Pb zircon analysis yielded an age of 210.3 ± 1.5 million years (i.e. Triassic) for these mafic dikes. Most Dalian mafic rocks exhibit low K2O + Na2O contents, and span the border between alkaline and calc-alkaline rock associations in the total alkali–silica diagram. The investigated dikes are also characterized by relatively high (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios (0.7061–0.7067) and negative ?Nd (t) (?4.7 to??4.3) and ?Hf (t) values (?4.1 to??1.1), implying that they were derived from an enriched lithospheric mantle source. The mafic dikes are characterized by relatively low MgO (4.65–5.44 wt.%), Mg# (41–44), and compatible element content [such as Cr (89.9–125 ppm) and Ni (56.7–72.2 ppm)], which are the features of an evolved mafic magma. No evidence supports the idea that the mafic rocks were affected by significant assimilation or crustal contamination during emplacement. We conclude that the dolerites formed in a post-orogenic extensional setting, related to lithospheric delamination or ‘collapse’ of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), also termed the Xingmeng Orogenic Belt in China. 相似文献

The Mesozoic Xigaze ophiolite is a key to understanding the tectonic evolution of the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone. Although many studies have been reported, the formation age and petrogenesis of the Xigaze ophiolite remain controversial. In this paper, new geochronological and geochemical data for mafic dikes (diabase, dolerite), lavas, and gabbros of the Xigaze ophiolite are provided to constrain the origin of the Xigaze ophiolite. Combined with previous studies, three new zircon U–Pb ages of samples from two gabbro and one dolerite samples show that the Xigaze ophiolite was produced at two distinct stages of 174–149 Ma and 137–123 Ma. Whole-rock geochemical data indicate that these rocks exhibit N-MORB-like features, but the gabbros are more depleted in trace elements and belong to cumulates. Geochemical characters, combined with their positive εNd(t) values (+3.2 to +9.6), suggest that these samples originated from depleted mantle sources with minor influence of slab-derived fluids. Considering the previous studies on the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone, the Xigaze ophiolite was likely generated in an active continental margin fore-arc basin with a multistage model associated with the northward subduction of the Yarlung Zangbo Neo-Tethys Ocean beneath the Lhasa terrane. The Middle–Late Jurassic ophiolitic massifs (174–149 Ma) were produced as the result of slab rollback and were followed by subsequent slab break-off at ~ 150 Ma. The fore-arc lithosphere may be frozen at ~150–137 Ma, consistent with the termination of the Gangdese arc magmatism during this period. The Early Cretaceous ophiolitic massifs (137–123 Ma) were developed in relation to the reinitiation of the Neo-Tethyan oceanic lithosphere subduction, the retreat of the subduction zone, and the creation of a fore-arc basin with strong hyperextension in a new cycle. 相似文献

Dolerite dike swarms are widespread across the North China Craton (NCC) of Hebei Province (China) and Inner Mongolia. Here, we report new geochemical, Sr–Nd–Pb isotope, and U–Pb zircon ages for representative samples of these dikes. Laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) U–Pb analysis yielded consistent Permian ages of 274.8 ± 2.9 and 275.0 ± 4.5 Ma for zircons extracted from two dikes. The dolerites have highly variable compositions (SiO2 = 46.99–56.18 wt.%, TiO2 = 1.27–2.39 wt.%, Al2O3 = 14.42–16.20 wt.%, MgO = 5.18–7.75 wt.%, Fe2O3 = 8.03–13.52 wt.%, CaO = 5.18–9.75 wt.%, Na2O = 2.46–3.79 wt.%, K2O = 0.26–2.35 wt.%, and P2O5 = 0.18–0.37 wt.%) and are light rare earth element (LREE) and large ion lithophile element (LILE, e.g. Rb, Ba, and K, and Pb in sample SXG1-9) enriched, and Th and high field strength element (HFSE, e.g. Nb and Ta in sample SXG1-9, and Ti) depleted. The mafic dikes have relatively uniform (87Sr/86Sr)i values from 0.7031 to 0.7048, (206Pb/204Pb)i from 17.77 to 17.976, (207Pb/204Pb)i from 15.50 to 15.52, (208Pb/204Pb)i from 37.95 to 38.03, and positive ?Nd(t) (3.6–7.3), and variable neodymium model ages (TDM1 = 0.75–0.99 Ga, TDM2 = 0.34–0.74 Ga). These data suggest that the dike magmas were derived from partial melting of a depleted region of the asthenospheric mantle, and that they fractionated olivine, pyroxene, plagioclase, K-feldspar, and Ti-bearing phases without undergoing significant crustal contamination. These mafic dikes within the NCC formed during a period of crustal thinning in response to extension after Permian collision between the NCC and the Siberian Block. 相似文献

The Indochina–Simao and Yangtze blocks were separated by a branch of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean, commonly referred as the Ailaoshan Ocean in the Paleozoic. Remnants of this Ailaoshan Ocean have been variably suggested to locate along (from east to west) the Ailaoshan fault, Jiujia–Anding fault and Amojiang–Lixianjiang fault. In order to test these models, we have carried out comprehensive detrital zircon U–Pb dating and Hf isotope analyses on the Cambrian to Devonian sedimentary units in the Ailaoshan Belt and its adjacent western margin of the Yangtze Block. Our results indicate marked detrital zircon provenance variation on different sides of the Ailaoshan–Tengtiaohe fault: detrital zircons from east of the fault display a diagnostic age peak at 730–900 Ma, which is characterized by both positive and negative εHf(t) values with a Hf model age (TDMC) peak at ~ 1.8 Ga, whereas detrital zircons from west of the fault display two major age populations of 400–500 and 900–1000 Ma, both characterized by mainly negative εHf(t) values with a Hf model age (TDMC) peak at ~ 2.1 Ga. Our new data indicate that detritus from east and west of the Ailaoshan–Tengtiaohe fault may have been mainly derived from, respectively, the Yangtze Block and Indochina–Simao blocks, thus suggesting the fault may represent the actual suture between the two blocks. Our study also reveals that the Ailaoshan Ocean may have started its early continental rift in the Early Silurian. 相似文献

Late Palaeogene syn-tectonic volcanic products have been found in the Northern Alpine foreland basin and in the South Alpine hemipelagic basin. The source of abundant volcanic fragments is still in debate. We analyzed the geochronology and geochemistry of detrital zircons, and evaluated their temporal and genetic relationships with potential volcanic sources. The study shows that the detrital zircon U–Pb age patterns have two major age groups: a dominance (ca. 90%) of pre-Alpine zircons was found, as commonly observed in other Alpine flysch formations. These zircons apparently derived from erosion of the early Alpine nappe stack in South Alpine and Austroalpine units. Furthermore, a few Neo-Alpine zircons (ca. 10%) have ages ranging from Late Eocene to Early Oligocene (~ 41–29 Ma). Both source materials were mixed during long riverine transport to the basin margins before being re-deposited by gravity flows. These Palaeogene ages match with the activity of Peri-Adriatic magmatism, including the Biella volcanic suite as well as the Northern Adamello and Bergell intrusions. The values of REE and 176Hf/177Hf(t) ratios of the Alpine detrital zircons are in line with the magmatic signatures. We observe an in time and space variable supply of syn-sedimentary zircons. From late Middle Eocene to Late Eocene, basin influx into the South Alpine and Glarus (A) basins from the Northern Adamello source is documented. At about 34 Ma, a complete reorganisation is recorded by (1) input of Bergell sources into the later Glarus (B) basin, and (2) the coeval volcaniclastic supply of the Haute-Savoie basin from the Biella magmatic system. The Adamello source vanished in the foreland basin. The marked modification of the basin sources at ~ 34 Ma is interpreted to be initiated by a northwestern shift of the early Alpine drainage divide into the position of the modern Insubric Line. 相似文献

We present zircon U–Pb dating, whole-rock geochemistry, and Sr–Nd isotope results for the Upper Permian–Upper Triassic volcanic rocks to constrain the timing of the final closure of the eastern segment of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean. The volcanic rocks were mainly collected from the Yanbian area in eastern Jilin Province, northeastern China. The zircon U–Pb dating results indicate that the samples can be classified as Upper Permian–Lower Triassic basalts (ca. 262–244 Ma) and Upper Triassic dacites (ca. 216 Ma). The whole-rock geochemical results indicate that the rocks predominately belong to the medium-K and high-K calc-alkaline series. The basalts are enriched in large ion lithophile elements (LILEs, e.g. Ba and K) and depleted in high field strength elements (HFSEs, e.g. Nb and Ta), with weak positive Eu anomalies. The dacites are enriched in LILEs (e.g. Rb, Ba, Th, and K) and light rare earth elements (LREEs) and marked depletion in some HFSEs (e.g. Nb, Ta, and Ti), with significant negative Sr, P, and Eu anomalies. Moreover, the Upper Permian–Lower Triassic basalts have low initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.7037–0.7048) and high εNd values (4.4–5.4). In contrast, the Upper Triassic dacites possess relatively high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.7052) compared with their low εNd values (1.4). The basaltic magma likely originated from the partial melting of a depleted mantle wedge metasomatized by subduction-related fluids, and the felsic magmas likely originated from the partial melting of a dominantly juvenile source with a minor component of ancient crust. Taken together, the Upper Permian–Lower Triassic basalts (ca. 262–244 Ma) are arc basalts that formed in an active continental margin setting, and the Upper Triassic dacites (ca. 216 Ma) are A-type granitic rocks that formed in an extensional setting. Therefore, the final closure of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean occurred during the Middle–Late Triassic. 相似文献

We present the first evidence of an early Paleozoic terrane in the southern Yanbian region, NE China. We used LA-ICP-MS zircon U–Pb and Hf isotope techniques to analyze one plagioclase gneiss and two garnet-bearing two-mica quartz schists from the early Paleozoic Jiangyu Group, as well as two tonalites that intruded the Jiangyu Group. The tonalites yield weighted mean 206Pb/238U zircon crystallization ages of 423 and 422 Ma. Zircons from the Jiangyu Group gneiss and two schist samples yield maximum depositional ages of 439 ± 4, 443 ± 2, and 443 ± 5 Ma, respectively. These constraints, together with the age of the tonalite intrusion, indicate that the Jiangyu Group was deposited between 443 and 423 Ma (i.e., Silurian). In addition, detrital zircon age spectra of the three Jiangyu Group samples exhibit prominent age peaks at 442, 473, 513, 565, 600, 635, 671, 740, 1000, and 1162 Ma, as well as secondary peaks between 1344 and 3329 Ma. The occurrence of the prominent Meso- and Neoproterozoic detrital zircon age populations for the Jiangyu Group, combined with the corresponding zircon Hf isotopic data, reveals that the Jiangyu Terrane has a tectonic affinity with northeastern Gondwana. The early Paleozoic magmatism, as suggested by the medium-K calc-alkaline I-type tonalite intrusion and Jiangyu Group detrital zircon age spectra, corresponds to coeval subduction–accretion events along the southern margin of the eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). Accordingly, we propose that the Jiangyu Group is part of an exotic terrane that rifted from northeastern Gondwana, drifted northward, and ultimately became involved in the early Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the southern margin of the eastern CAOB after the Early Cambrian. 相似文献

Zircon U–Pb and pyrite Re–Os age constraints on pyrite mineralization in the Yinjiagou deposit,China
《International Geology Review》2012,54(13):1616-1625
We report new zircon U–Pb and pyrite Re–Os geochronological studies of the Yinjiagou poly-metallic deposit, sited along the southern margin of the North China Craton (SMNCC). In this deposit, pyrite, the most important economic mineral, is intergrown/associated with Mo, Cu, Au, Pb, Zn, and Ag. Prior to our new work, the age of chalcopyrite–pyrite mineralization was known only from its spatial relationship with molybdenite mineralization and with intrusions of known ages. The U–Pb and Re–Os isotope systems provide an excellent means of dating the mineralization itself and additionally place constraints on the ore genesis and metal source. Zircons separated from the quartz–chalcopyrite–pyrite veins include both detrital and magmatic groups. The magmatic zircons confine the maximum age of chalcopyrite–pyrite mineralization to 142.0 ± 1.5 Ma. The Re–Os results yield an age of 141.1 ± 1.1 Ma, which represents the age of the chalcopyrite–pyrite mineralization quite well. The common Os contents are notably low (0.5–20.1 ppt) in all samples. In contrast, the Re contents vary considerably (3.0–199.2 ppb), most likely depending on intensive boiling, which resulted in an increase of Re within the pyrite. This study demonstrates that the main chalcopyrite–pyrite mineralization occurred late in the magmatic history and was linked to a deeper intrusion involving dominant mantle-derived materials. This mineralization event might be related to the Early Cretaceous lithospheric destruction and thinning of the SMNCC. 相似文献

Recent research has identified an early to late Carboniferous magmatic arc that extends from Suzuo Qi to Xiwu Qi in Inner Mongolia, China, but the eastern extension of this arc is unknown. Understanding the relationship between this arc and the Hegenshan ophiolite belt and Xilamulun Solonker suture zone is important to our understanding of the tectonic evolution of the late Palaeozoic Palaeo-Asian Ocean. Here, we present new zircon laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry U–Pb and geochemical data for the Maoliger quartz monzodiorites within the Jalaid Qi area. The Maoliger quartz monzodiorites formed at 329 ± 2 Ma, are low-K and tholeiitic, and have geochemical signatures indicative of formation within a magmatic arc. These rocks are large-ion lithophile element (e.g. Rb, Ba, and Sr)-enriched and high-field-strength element (e.g. Nb and Ta)-depleted. Combined with previously published researches, it is suggested that the quartz monzodiorites within the Jalaid Qi area formed contemporaneously with and are geochemically similar to quartz diorites of the Xiwu Qi area and the Baolidao pluton in the Suzuo Qi area. This indicates that the early to late Carboniferous magmatic arc in this region extends eastward to the Jalaid Qi area. This arc is located in an area parallel to a southerly early Permian magmatic arc, suggesting that the Palaeo-Asian Ocean subduction zone migrated south between the early Carboniferous and early Permian. The new data show that the Palaeo-Asian Ocean closed after the late Carboniferous. 相似文献

Zircon grains separated from 2 granulites from the eastern Himalaya were investigated by Raman spectroscopy, cathodoluminescence
imaging, and secondary ion mass spectrometry. These grains have a thin homogeneous rim and an oscillatory inner zone domain
with or without a relict inherited core. Garnet, kyanite, and rutile inclusions were identified within only the rim domain
of zircon grains, indicating that the rim had formed during peak granulite-facies metamorphism. U–Pb zircon data record three
distinct age populations: 1,805 Ma (for the inherited core), ca. 500 Ma (oscillatory inner zone), as well as 24–25 Ma and
ca. 18 Ma (for the metamorphic rim). These new precision ages suggest that the peak metamorphic age for the HP granulite is
at ca. 24–25 Ma, and subsequent amphibolite-facies retrograde metamorphism occurred at ca. 18 Ma. 相似文献

U–Pb zircon analyses from a series of orthogneisses sampled in drill core in the northern Gawler Craton provide crystallisation ages at ca 1775–1750 Ma, which is an uncommon age in the Gawler Craton. Metamorphic zircon and monazite give ages of ca 1730–1710 Ma indicating that the igneous protoliths underwent metamorphism during the craton-wide Kimban Orogeny. Isotopic Hf zircon data show that 1780–1750 Ma zircons are somewhat evolved with initial εHf values –4 to +0.9, and model ages of ca 2.3 to 2.2 Ga. Isotopic whole rock Sm–Nd values from most samples have relatively evolved initial εNd values of –3.7 to –1.4. In contrast, a mafic unit from drill hole Middle Bore 1 has a juvenile isotopic signature with initial εHf zircon values of ca +5.2 to +8.2, and initial εNd values of ~+3.5 to +3.8. The presence of 1775–1750 Ma zircon forming magmatic rocks in the northern Gawler Craton provides a possible source for similarly aged detrital zircons in Paleoproterozoic basin systems of the Gawler Craton and adjacent Curnamona Province. Previous provenance studies on these Paleoproterozoic basins have appealed to the Arunta Region of the North Australian Craton to provide 1780–1750 Ma detrital zircons, and isotopically and geochemically similar basin fill. The orthogneisses in the northern Gawler Craton also match the source criteria and display geochemical similarities between coeval magmatism in the Arunta Region of the North Australian Craton, providing further support for paleogeographic reconstructions that link the Gawler Craton and North Australian Craton during the Paleoproterozoic. 相似文献

The Jinchuan ultramafic intrusion in western China hosts the third-largest magmatic Ni–Cu deposit in the world. The crystallization
age of the intrusion has long been debated. Here, we present a U–Pb ID-TIMS zircon age of 831.8 ± 0.6 Ma obtained on thermally
annealed and chemically etched zircons from a lherzolite sample. The coexisting baddeleyite in the sample is indistinguishable
from the age of zircon. Our new results confirm that the emplacement of the Jinchuan ultramafic intrusion was temporally related
to the breakup of the Rodinia supercontinent. 相似文献

Thick quartzites record significant information on cratonic environments during long geological periods. The capacity to resist weathering and deformation turn the quartzite covers especially useful in the provenance studies of Precambrian basins. Provenance of 194 detrital zircon grains from two samples of thick quartzite cover on the Paleoproterozoic Encantadas Complex displays mostly Paleoproterozoic (95%) and minor Archean (5%) sources. The results indicate that sediments were derived from the La Plata Craton with the maximum depositional age at 2.03 Ga possibly up to 1.7 Ga. In comparison, the adjacent Porongos Group has provenance data of 61 detrital zircon grains indicating mostly Mesoproterozoic (69%), subordinately Paleoproterozoic (26%) and minor Archean ages (5%). Considering previous published data, the Porongos Group is Ediacaran in age and probably chronocorrelated with sedimentary basins from the Tandilia Belt (Argentina). Therefore, the quartzite cover and the Porongos Group require distinct evolution in time and in tectonic environment. 相似文献
