This study was conducted on the Rajghat dam project situated in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India, the remote sensing techniques have been proved to be very efficient in identification of geoenvironmental aspects of the study area. In the present paper IRS IA LISS II data has been used. The various thematic maps have been generated and integrated on 1,50,000 scale. Geology, geomorphology, Hydro-geomorphotogy, structure, soils and erosion, landuse / landcover helped in identification of the potential zones for developmental planning and forecasting limitations to their implementation with seasonal accuracy. Lineaments and their intersections appear to be potential sites for groundwater. Betwa drainage basin is suitable for surface reserviour and check dams. The study shows that the integration of all attributes provides more accurate results in identification of geoenvironmental characteristics.  相似文献

Abstract

A GIS based approach is proposed for the integration of three thematic maps viz. geomorphology, drainage density and slope using fuzzy logic for the assessment of ground water resource potential of a soft rock terrain of Midnapur District, West Bengal, India. The geomorphology and drainage density maps of the area are prepared from IRS‐1B LISS‐II data, and the slope map is obtained from the contours depicted on the topographic map of Survey of India. Each feature of all the thematic maps is assigned with individual fuzzy set values within a range between 0 to 1 according to their relative importance in the prediction of ground water occurrence. The maps are then integrated through fuzzy operation to model the ground water potential zone of the study area. The evolved model while verified with surface geophysical results is found to be in good agreement.  相似文献

The Dibru river basin of Assam is investigated to examine the influence of active structure by applying an integrated study on geomorphology, morphotectonics, subsurface structure, Digital Elevation Model (DEM) using topographic map, IRS 1D LISS III, IRS P6 LISS III, SRTM, seismic and subsurface data. Seismic data reveals existence of an upwarp and an important fault in the basement around the central and eastern parts of the Dibru basin, respectively. The influence of these structures is well observed on all the younger formations inferring their active nature possibly till the Recent Period. Existence of fluvial anomalies, viz. annular drainage pattern, lineaments, abrupt changes in the direction of river course, beheaded stream and valley incision infer role of structural control on the fluvial features of this basin. Most commonly used indices for morphotectonic analysis, viz. basin elongation ratio (Re), transverse topographic symmetry (T), asymmetric factor (AF), valley floor width to valley height ratio (Vf) have been used to identify the evidences of active structures in the area. The values of Re indicated tectonically active, T indicated an asymmetric nature, AF indicated tilting and Vf indicated active incision in the Dibru basin. The DEM, profiles across the valley and superimposed longitudinal profiles of incised channel bed and valley shoulder of the Dibru clearly reveal valley incision by the river. Three large paleochannels located in different parts of the basin had their headwaters towards east at the common source, i.e. the Diyun river. These paleochannels had been resulted when their headwaters avulsed to create new rivers due to affect of the subsurface structures during Recent (or perhaps Neogene?) Period.  相似文献

Remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) are well suited to landslide studies. The aim of this study is to prepare a landslide susceptibility map of a part of Ooty region, Tamil Nadu, India, where landslides are common. The area of the coverage is approximately 10 × 14 km in a hilly region where planting tea, vegetables and cash crops are in practice. Hence, deforestation, formation of new settlements and changing land use practices are always in progress. Land use and land cover maps are prepared from Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS 1C - LISS III) imagery. Digital Elevation Model (DEM) was developed using 20 m interval contours, available in the topographic map. Field studies such as local enquiry, land use verification, landslide location identification were carried out. Analysis was carried out with GIS software by assigning rank and weights for each input data. The output shows the possible landslide areas, which are grouped for preparation of landslide susceptibility maps.  相似文献

Abstract

The present study was an attempt to delineate potential groundwater zones in Kalikavu Panchayat of Malappuram district, Kerala, India. The geo-spatial database on geomorphology, landuse, geology, slope and drainage network was generated in a geographic information system (GIS) environment from satellite data, Survey of India topographic sheets and field observations. To understand the movement and occurrence of groundwater, the geology, geomorphology, structural set-up and recharging conditions have to be well understood. In the present study, the potential recharge areas are delineated in terms of geology, geomorphology, land use, slope, drainage pattern, etc. Various thematic data generated were integrated using a heuristic method in the GIS domain to generate maps showing potential groundwater zones. The composite output map scores were reclassified into different zones using a decision rule. The final output map shows different zones of groundwater prospect, viz., very good (15.57% of the area), good (43.74%), moderate (28.38%) and poor (12.31%). Geomorphic units such as valley plains, valley fills and alluvial terraces were identified as good to excellent prospect zones, while the gently sloping lateritic uplands were identified as good to moderate zones. Steeply sloping hilly terrains underlain by hard rocks were identified as poor groundwater prospect zones.  相似文献

The breaching of the NALCO Ash-pond in the midnight of December 31, 2000 had caused a serious havoc in 26 villages of the Angul and the Talcher Tahasils of Angul district in Orissa. The Nandira Jhor, a tributary of the Brahmani river flowing adjacent to the pond carried ash to the Brahmani river and its effect was noticed up to 50 km downstream of the river. A study was immediately taken up to assess and evaluate the extent of affected areas using high resolution optical data IRS-ID(PAN) and IRS-ID LISS III of period January 6, 2001. The cadastral maps covering 14 villages of the Talcher Tahasil and 12 villages of the Angul Tahasil were scanned and complete mosaic of 26 villages was prepared. The village layer map was superimposed on the merged data (IRS-ID LISS III+PAN) product at scale 1:8000 and the affected areas were identified village-wise. The final map was immediately handed over to the NALCO authorities for initiation of relief measures. The landuse/ land cover map of pre-breaching (IRS-ID LISS III December 12,2000) and post-breaching (IRS-ID LISS III January 6, 2001) periods were prepared and the spatial extent of different landuse/ land cover class for two dates data were calculated village-wise separately. It was revealed that most of the agricultural lands, land with or without scrub, fallow areas were fully submerged with water mixed with ash. It is seen that villages namely Dighi, Gurujanguli, Nuagoan, Khamana of the Talcher Tahasil and the villages namely Tetoi, Tentolei, Balaramprasad of the Angul Tahasil were seriously affected with high rate of ash deposits.  相似文献

The dynamism of geomorphic provinces in fluvial systems present considerable ambiguities in mapping by remote sensing. This necessitates use of multiple satellite data to characterize such depositional provinces. We use, an integrated dataset to characterize the geomorphic provinces (e.g. active flood plain, older food plain, fan etc.) of the Kosi River (Bihar), India. This is done using contrast in spectral signatures derived from multispectral bands (of IRS-P6 LISS III), radiant temperature (from ETM+) and radar-roughness (from radar brightness image RISAT-1). ASTER DEM has been used in deriving topographic profiles. The optical imagery, enables regional characterization through direct tonal changes (e.g. active flood plain is brighter than older flood plain). The radiant temperatures show variations across provinces. Geomorphic transitions are represented by topographic breaks. Radar backscatter imagery, show differences in radar-return from different sub-provinces. Observations made using specific sensor characterize each provinces and is supplementary/complimentary to the parameter(s) from other sensors.  相似文献

It is well known that changes in landuse and landcover e.g., vegetation, forests, soils, water quality etc. have a great impact on the economic and social development of a region. In most of these cases, a knowledge of existing landuse and landcover and its rate of change is essential prior to any planning activity. Remote Sensing, particularly from a satellite platform is potentially an effective and economic means to collect the data and to monitor changes occurring in landuse categories. The main objective of the present work is to delineate the groundwater potential zones in Bilari watershed of district Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. Remote Sensing data and GIS were used to delineate the groundwater potential zones of the area. IRS-1D (LISS III) data have been utilized to extract information on various themes such as geomorphology, structure, drainage and land use/land cover. Available lithology and soil maps have also been used. DEM has been generated from contours taken from Survey of India topographical maps in order to obtain the slope percentage and slope aspect of the area. The groundwater potential zones were delineated by weighted overlay analysis. The themes geology, geomorphology, slope and soil were considered and the weightages assigned to different classes of respective themes according to their role in groundwater potential. Finally, five groundwater potential zones viz., very good, good, moderate; poor and very poor were delineated for the study area. It was estimated that about 110.41?sq km area which forms 37.55% of the total area are in the zones of very poor, poor and moderate category and about 183.75?sq km (62.45%) in zones of good and very good category.  相似文献

A methodology for groundwater evaluation has been developed by the combined use of numerical model and spatial modeling using GIS. The developed methodology has been applied on the sub-basin of the Banganga River, India. Initially, the groundwater potential zones have been delineated by spatial modeling. Different thematic maps of the basin like geology, geomorphology, soil, drainage, slope factor and landuse/landcover have been used to identify the groundwater potential zones. Further, the groundwater flow model for the study area has been developed in the MODFLOW. The groundwater flow vector map has been developed and superimposed on the potential zone map to validate the results of spatial modeling. Finally, the different scenarios have been conceptualized by varying the discharge of the wells and purposing the location for new rainwater harvesting structures. Results reveal that increasing the discharge of the wells in the potential zones put less stress on the aquifer. The suggested locations of rainwater harvesting structures also help to reduce the overall decline of groundwater in the area. The hydrological and spatial modeling presented in this study is highly useful for the evaluation of groundwater resources and for deciding the location of rainwater harvesting structures in semi-arid regions.  相似文献

GIS. a potential tool for facilitating the generation and use of thematic information, has been applied to groundwater potentiality of the Shamri micro-watershed in Shimla Taluk. The role of various parameters, namely, drainage. lineament. lithology . slope and landuse have been emphasised for delineation of groundwater potential iones. IRS-I C IAN and LISS Ill FCC merged satellite images on 1:25000 scale and Topographic map no. 53L/4 SI together with field traverses have been used as the data source. A multi-criteria evaluation following probability weighted approach has been applied for overlay analysis that allows a linear combination of weights of each thematic map with the individual capability value. 1 he resultant map indicates a high groundwater potentiality in the flood plains, river terraces and river channels in the vicinity of the Shamri nala. Other sites of high potentiality include places showing break in slopes and criss-crossing of lineaments.  相似文献

The accuracy of three classification techniques namely Maximum likelihood, contextual and neural network for landuse/landcover with special emphasis on forest type mapping was evaluated in Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary area using IRS-1B LISS II data of Dec. 1994. The area was segregated into ten categories by using all the three classification techniques taking same set of training areas. The classification accuracy was evaluated from the error matrix of same set of training and validating pixels. The analysis showed that the neural net work achieved maximum accuracy of 95 percent, maximum likelihood algorithm with 91.06 percent and contextual classifier with 87.42 percent. It is concluded that the neural network classifier works better in heterogeneous and contextual in homogenous forestlands whereas the maximum likelihood is the best in both the conditions.  相似文献

Hydrological modelling of large river catchments is a challenging task for water resources engineers due to its complexity in collecting and handling of both spatial and non-spatial data such as rainfall, gauge discharges, and topographic parameters. In this paper an attempt has been made to use satellite-based rainfall products such as Climatic Prediction Centre (CPC)-National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data for hydrological modelling of larger catchment where the limited field rainfall data is available. Digital Elevation Models (DEM) such as Global DEM (1 km resolution) and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) 3-arc second (90 m resolution) DEM have been used to extract topographic parameters of the basin for hydrological modelling of the study area. Various popular distributed models have been used in this study for computing excess rainfall, direct runoff from each sub-basin, and flow routing to the main outlet. The Brahmaputra basin, which is very complex both hydraulically and hydrologically due to its shape, size, and geographical location, has been examined as study area in this study. A landuse map derived from the satellite remote sensing data in conjunction with DEM and soil textural maps have been used to derive various basin and channel characteristics such as each sub-basin and channel slope, roughness coefficients, lag-time. Percentage of residual flows computed between observed flows and simulated flows using Global and SRTM DEMs are discussed. It is found that the topographic parameters computed using SRTM DEM could improve the model accuracy in computing flood hydrograph. Need of using better resolution satellite data products and the use of high-density field discharge observations is discussed.  相似文献

The paper presents a geospatial modeling approach for the assessment of biological richness in Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary in Orissa located in the northern tip of the Eastern Ghats in India. Indian Remote Sensing satellite data of Resourcesat-1 LISS III and field sampling were used to model biological richness at 1:50,000 scale. It was found that the sanctuary is dominated by Sal mixed dry deciduous forest. The vegetation map prepared through visual interpretation of satellite imagery was subjected to landscape analysis and assessment of biotic disturbance using SPLAM software. The disturbance index together with species richness, ecosystem uniqueness, terrain complexity and total importance value was modeled to access the biological richness in the sanctuary. A total of 3.9 per cent area was found to posses very high plant richness followed by high (21.2%), medium (42.1%) and low (32.8%) in the sanctuary. The study demonstrated the geospatial technology in conjunction with landscape analysis, ground inventory and geospatial modeling seizes good potential for rapid assessment of biological richness. The fringe areas of the sanctuary having disturbance more because most of the small villages which are relocated from sanctuary, settled in those areas.  相似文献

Efficient micro-watershed management needs characterization of it to optimize natural resources, which is especially important in drought prone areas. In the present study micro-watersheds of Gandheshwari tributary in Chotta-Nagpur Plateau are characterized based on physiographic properties towards agricultural potentiality. An algorithm interpolating elevation values using an empirical formula is proposed to obtain an improved Digital Elevation Model (DEM). IRS LISS-Ill Satellite data is used to acquire important parameters like landuse/ landcover and drainage. Image processing techniques like edge enhancement, edge detection, and principal components analysis are used for improving lineament detection. For characterization of watershed landform analysis using physiographic parameters is done in Geographic Information System (GIS). Detailed drainage network obtained from satellite image, the improved DEM and other GIS layers of land based information are used to delineate micro-watersheds. The Agricultural 1-lydrologic Response Units (AHRU) targeting agricultural use of the land are derived by overlaying the delineated parameters and are grouped into thirty response units based on their agricultural potential. Micro-watersheds are characterized based on the dominant Al-IRU giving spatial information about agricultural suitability, emphasizing availability and scarcity of water so that respective water conservation practices can be improved to use the potential AHRU.  相似文献

以1:1万比例尺地形图(H-48-72-24)为例,采用地理信息系统软件Arc/Info数字化地形图生成数字高程模型,并通过DEM计算派生出坡度图,再结合土地利用现状图和相关资料,应用地理信息系统空间分析功能,自动提取坡耕地数据。整个过程主要由计算机进行处理,人工干预少,效率高。  相似文献

Remote sensing techniques have been applied to classify tour density classes within each of the forest type along with other major landuse/landcover classes in the East district, Sikkim using IRS-1A LISS II satellite data pertaining to the period of November, 1988. The shadow problem in rugged terrain and difficulty in acquiring cloud free data for different seasons pose problems to achieve considerable mapping accuracy. In the present study, the forests of the district were delineated through supervised classification techniques using maximum likelihood algorithm into five forest types as sal forests, subtropical broad-leaved forests, Himalayan wet temperate forests, Rhododendron forests and alpine forests. The alpine forests were further stratified into two categories as moist alpine scrub and dry alpine scrub. The statistical data obtained from the present study shows that 55.47 percent of the total geographical area of the East district was under forest cover. An overall accuracy of more than 85 percent in correctly delineating forest classes was achieved.  相似文献

地形的起伏是反映地形起伏的宏观地形因子,是比较适合区域水土流失评价的地形指标,在区域性研究中,利用DEM数据提取地形起伏度能够快速、直观的反映地形的起伏特征。1∶10000比例尺DEM具有越来越广泛、重要的应用,系统探讨基于其提取地形起伏度的方法具有重要的理论和实践意义。本研究以陕北黄土高原不同地貌区的DEM数据为实验数据,依据地貌发育的基本理论,GIS的窗口递增分析方法结合自然地理单元———小流域划分方法,通过对比分析,确定不同地貌区的地形起伏度。通过对实验结果的对比分析证明,该方法是一种比较通用、有效的方法。  相似文献
