Field oceanographic and meteorological data are required for ocean engineering. In response to the requirement of field data, an operational coastal ocean monitoring network was established around Taiwan coast, including nine deep-water data buoys, one shallow-water pile station, 10 coastal weather stations and 10 tide stations. Data quality check procedures are necessary to ensure the accuracy of measurements. This paper presents the data quality check procedures on ocean wave data which includes automatic and manual check procedures. The checking criteria are derived using statistical theory in this paper. In addition, a sea-state-dependent algorithm is presented in this study in order to derive checking criteria of time-continuity check. It is showed to have better performance of picking up suspicious data than using fixed threshold process. This data quality check program is now used on the operational monitoring network.  相似文献

This paper analyses 10 years of wave data from the Mediterranean Spanish (Catalan) coast considering the mean wave climate and storm events from the standpoint of wind-wave momentum transfer and wave prediction. The data, registered by a buoy at about 12 km from the coastline, revealed two main groups of wave storms, with NW and E directions. NW storms correspond to a fetch-limited situation since the intense wind blows from land. Low-pressure centres located over the Mediterranean Sea produce easterly storms. Near the coast the eastern winds from the sea are replaced by NW winds coming from meteorological patterns over northern Spain and south-western France. Wave storms are classified and studied to obtain their main features (including spectral width, wave length, wave age and bimodality) and discussed in terms of wind-wave momentum transfer for operational wave predictions. Observations show a complex coastal wave climate. Fetch-limited storms presented smaller spectral widths while varying wind situations presented larger widths due to the presence of bimodal spectra. These wave features are highly relevant for wind–ocean momentum transfer and, thus, for current and wave predictions. The spectral width proved to be a good indicator of sea complexity and is thus applicable for improved wind drag estimations. A new drag coefficient formulation is proposed, based on existing wind dependent drag expressions, but including also spectral wave properties (a spectral width parameter) that highlights the characteristics of wind-wave generation under pre-existing swell. Such a formulation, once properly validated with field observations, is expected to improve wind-wave predictions.  相似文献

选取海上A平台54646为参考站,通过差值对比、趋势对比以及风向相符率对绥中36号石油平台站54553运行以来的观测资料进行了分析,以此为例来说明天津建设的环渤海海域石油平台站的业务化评估过程。采用气候学界限值、内部一致性、持续性、时间一致性及空间一致性等检查方法对该站2017年定时2 min风速和极大风速数据进行了初步质量检测,并且还通过环渤海地区2017年冬半年的较强冷空气过程,对该站观测到的风速数据进行了进一步验证。结果表明:54553站观测的各气象要素值表现合理,具有一定的局地天气气候代表性,能够投入海洋气象预报、近海风能资源评估等业务使用。同时,该站观测的风速资料质量相对较好,为环渤海海洋气象预报服务增添了新的数据保障。  相似文献

The often poor quality of ocean bottom seismic data, particularly that observed on horizontal seismometers, is shown to be the result of instruments responding to motions in ways not intended. Instruments designed to obtain the particle motion of the ocean bottom are found to also respond to motions of the water. The shear discontinuity across the ocean floor boundary results in torques that cause package rotation, rather than rectilinear motion, in response to horizontal ground or water motion. The problems are exacerbated by bottom currents and soft sediments. The theory and data presented in this paper suggest that the only reliable way of obtaining high fidelity particle motion data from the ocean floor is to bury the sensors below the bottom in a package with density close to that of the sediment. Long period signals couple well to ocean bottom seismometers, but torques generated by bottom currents can cause noise at both long and short periods. The predicted effects are illustrated using parameters appropriate for the operational OBS developed for the U. S. Office of Naval Research. Examples of data from ocean bottom and buried sensors are also presented.  相似文献

由武汉大学研发的海洋状态监测及分析雷达(OSMAR),被布置于东中国海沿岸的6个雷达站点,用于观测海表面速度(海流,波浪,风)。本研究以雷达观测的流场为例,阐述了一个业务化海表面流雷达观测及数据服务平台,给出了一个从数据获取、传输、处理、可视化以及服务的业务化流程。详细描述了业务化平台中包含三个系统(雷达观测系统、数据服务系统、可视化服务系统),以及各系统间的数据流。各站点获取的流速将在雷达观测系统中数据接收和预处理中心进行集成,然后传输到数据服务系统进行质量控制。用户可以在数据服务系统的主界面上对数据进行浏览,也能够获取这些数据。可视化服务系统能够在球体平台上对数据产品进行直观展示。通过业务化平台可以对东中国海的海流进行实时监测,也能够对海流的日变化以及季节性变化进行研究。  相似文献

As a contribution to the deepwater oil and gas industry, this paper addresses the use of optimization techniques together with a design of experiments (DOE) assessment, as a way of automating the design of compliant vertical access risers (CVARs) while also leading to an optimal riser configuration based on some desired efficiency parameters. The CVAR is a new riser concept that can improve the structural performance of the production system and also provide several operational benefits. The DOE is a statistical technique that provides an objective measure of how design parameters are correlated and the effective contribution of each one at the riser performance. Based on such a study some general conclusive remarks on the global behavior of CVAR will be presented. Such results also play an important role for the optimization process, as it can highlight significant design parameters, enabling design simplifications and efficiency improvement. For optimization assessment, geometric parameters are taken as the design variables and the design constraints consider both structural integrity and operational criteria. A multi-objective approach is considered taking into account the structural performance and geometric criteria. Optimal solution is obtained by NSGA-II method. Extreme and operational environmental conditions of a Brazilian offshore field are used as the base case.  相似文献

The India-France SARAL/AltiKa mission is the first Ka-band altimetric mission dedi-cated to oceanography. The mission objectives are primarily the observation of the oceanic mesoscales but also include coastal oceanography, global and regional sea level monitoring, data assimilation, and operational oceanography. Secondary objectives include ice sheet and inland waters monitoring. One year after launch, the results widely confirm the nominal expectations in terms of accuracy, data quality and data availability in general.

Today's performances are compliant with specifications with an overall observed performance for the Sea Surface Height RMS of 3.4 cm to be compared to a 4 cm requirement. Some scientific examples are provided that illustrate some salient features of today's SARAL/AltiKa data with regard to standard altimetry: data availability, data accuracy at the mesoscales, data usefulness in costal area, over ice sheet, and for inland waters.  相似文献

An assessment is made of the maximum wave induced bending moment expected to occur during the operational lifetime of a fast monohull, based on long term distribution calculations of the non-linear vertical bending moment at mid-ship. The ship is assumed to operate in the Northern North Sea, with an operational life of 25 years. A succession of short-term stationary ship responses represented by Rayleigh distributions of peaks results in the long-term distribution of the structural loads. Non-linear pseudo transfer functions are used in the procedure to calculate the variances of the short-term responses. The amplitudes of these transfer functions are calculated by a non-linear time domain seakeeping program. The results are compared with rules minimum required values and also with results from simpler calculation procedures such as adopting design sea states.  相似文献

SARAL/AltiKa surface wind speed (WS) and significant wave height (SWH) measurements are monitored and validated against operational European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) atmospheric and wave model results in addition to available in-situ observations to access their suitability for various applications, especially SWH data assimilation. The quality of SWH is very high while that of WS is very good except for an underestimation of high wind speeds. The impact of assimilating SWH in the ECMWF Integrated Forecast System was assessed using several numerical experiments. The results show positive impact. Operational assimilation of SWH at ECMWF model is part of the forthcoming model change.  相似文献

A down-scaled operational oceanographic system is developed for the coastal waters of Korea using a regional ocean modeling system(ROMS).The operational oceanographic modeling system consists of atmospheric and hydrodynamic models.The hydrodynamic model,ROMS,is coupled with wave,sediment transport,and water quality modules.The system forecasts the predicted results twice a day on a 72 h basis,including sea surface elevation,currents,temperature,salinity,storm surge height,and wave information for the coastal waters of Korea.The predicted results are exported to the web-GIS-based coastal information system for real-time dissemination to the public and validation with real-time monitoring data using visualization technologies.The ROMS is two-way coupled with a simulating waves nearshore model,SWAN,for the hydrodynamics and waves,nested with the meteorological model,WRF,for the atmospheric surface forcing,and externally nested with the eutrophication model,CE-QUAL-ICM,for the water quality.The operational model,ROMS,was calibrated with the tidal surface observed with a tide-gage and verified with current data observed by bottom-mounted ADCP or AWAC near the coastal waters of Korea.To validate the predicted results,we used real-time monitoring data derived from remote buoy system,HF-radar,and geostationary ocean color imager(GOCI).This down-scaled operational coastal forecasting system will be used as a part of the Korea operational oceanographic system(KOOS) with other operational oceanographic systems.  相似文献

The role of academic research in the economic growth process has been widely considered over the last two decades in the theoretical and empirical literature, particularly around the concept of knowledge-based economy. Meanwhile, the very recent notion of “blue growth” and the significant development potential related to marine environments have gained more and more concern for policy makers on different scales. It is therefore interesting to assess the academic research related to marine issues, owing to its potential contribution to this dynamics growth through knowledge transfers and academic spillovers. This paper provides a global evaluation of the marine academic production, using a spatialized, open and transdisciplinary approach. In particular, this approach is to mobilize indicators to assess scientific production, transpose it to the territorial scale and make a global comparison of “research territories” in the case of marine science, with a specific focus on European cities. The results show that the five main centres are Tokyo (Japan), Paris (France), San Diego (USA), Moscow (Russia) and Woods Hole (USA). A dense European territorial coverage in marine science centres also appears, and new world major centres such as Chinese and Brazilian ones emerge.  相似文献

The objective of this paper is to theoretically demonstrate how the operational frequency affects the efficiency of a low-speed generator. Due to the varying nature of underwater currents, the voltage from a current power converter has to be rectified first and then digitally reconverted into a stable alternating current. When designing a direct drive generator for water current power conversion, the operational frequency is, thus, a free design parameter and not a fixed value determined by the grid. Finite element method was used to determine the efficiency and weight. A higher frequency means larger frequency-dependent losses, but also a lighter machine. Even at the highest frequency in this study, the frequency-dependent losses were not high enough to overcome the gain of a lighter machine. If a large generator diameter can be allowed, the water current power converter should be designed with as high operational frequency as possible.  相似文献

The current study aims to analyze the wind and wave parameters over Indian Ocean region obtained from first Ka –band altimeter AltiKa onboard SARAL, a collaborative mission of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES), France. It also demonstrates a real time application of SARAL data by assimilating the wave height in a wave model operational at the Space Applications Centre, ISRO. State-of–the art coastal wave model Simulating Wave Near shore (SWAN) is used for this purpose. The well-tested optimal interpolation technique is adopted for assimilation. Before proceeding to the assimilation per se, SARAL/AltiKa Wind and Significant Wave Height (SWH) have been validated using in- situ observations and WAVEWATCH III model. Apart from assessment of wind and wave data quality, this also served the purpose of providing error covariance to be used in assimilation. Supremacy of the assimilation run over parallel control run without assimilation has been judged by comparing the results with buoy observations at Indian National Centre for Ocean Information System (INCOIS). The statistics of validation of the assimilation run has been found to be extremely encouraging and interesting.  相似文献

Simrad EM12 backscatter strength data of the Southwest Indian Ridge (SWIR), between 57°E and 70°E, are used to reveal the along-axis segmentation of this super slow-spreading ridge. The backscatter properties of different geologic domains, like bathymetric highs and oblique basins within the rift valley, are characterized using 66 small test sites. We show that backscatter strength is higher on bathymetric swells, corresponding to segment centres, and lower in deep oblique basins corresponding to axial non-transform discontinuities and fracture zones. This contrast between segment centres and discontinuities is produced by both a thicker sediment cover and less frequent volcanic eruptions at segment ends. Using the model of Mitchell (1993), sediments have been estimated to be 2 to 5 m thicker in these areas than at segment centres. The distribution of the seamounts within the rift valley is controlling the long-wavelength variations of the mean backscatter strength calculated along the axis. Lower densities of seamounts and thicker sediments are producing lower and heterogeneous reflectivity levels in the deepest part of the axial valley floor between 61°45′E and 63°45′E. We propose that cooler mantle temperatures inducing construction of fewer volcanoes occur beneath this part of the ridge. The mean backscatter strength along the SWIR axis decreases dramatically toward the Rodrigues Triple Junction suggesting that volcanic production is reduced between 68°20′E and 69°20′E and that the transition from amagmatic tectonic deformation at the triple junction to new seafloor spreading occurs between 69°20′E and 70°E.  相似文献

Finite-element modeling (FEM) techniques are developed to determine the structural capabilities of net pen flotation structures made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The modeling approach uses shell elements and localized failure criteria to predict critical loading conditions. Finite element modeling simulations were performed using values for the modulus of elasticity for weathered HDPE determined from a series of tensile tests. Poisson's ratio and yield stress used with the approach were obtained from standard manufacturers values. To investigate the method, a series of experiments were performed in the laboratory by testing circular sections of HDPE pipe to localized failure (“kinking”). The same test was replicated with the FEM using localized failure techniques. Laboratory and model results were within 16%. A FEM was then built to represent the complex geometry of a net pen flotation structure deployed at an operational fish farm located in Eastport, ME, USA. Simulations were performed using attachment line tension values measured at the site. The goal was to assess flotation pipe stress levels for typical operational conditions. Simulations were also performed to investigate the maximum capabilities of the net pen structure with different attachment line configurations. Quantifying the operational limits will become more important as these systems are considered for more exposed, energetic environments.  相似文献
