Free convection effects on MHD flow past a semi infinite porous flat plate is studied when the time dependent suction velocity changes in step function form. The solution of the problem is obtained in closed form for the fluid with unit Prandtl number. It is observed that for both cooling and heating of the plate the suction velocity enhances the velocity field. The heat transfer is higher with increase in suction velocity.Notations B intensity of magnetic field - G Grashof number - H magnetic field parameter,H=(M+1/4) 1/2–1/2 - M magnetic field parameter - N u Nusselt number - P Prandtl number of the fluid - r suction parameter - T temperature of the fluid - T w temperature of the plate - T temperature of the fluid at infinity - t time - t non-dimensional time - u velocity of the fluid parallel to the plate - u non-dimensional velocity - U velocity of the free stream - suction velocity - 1 suction velocity att0 - 2 suction velocity att>0 - x,y coordinate axes parallel and normal to the plate, respectively - y non-dimensional distance normal to the plate - coefficient of volume expansion - thermal diffusivity - kinematic viscosity - electric conductivity of the fluid - density of the fluid - non-dimensional temperature of the fluid - shear stress at the plate - non dimensional shear stress - erf error function - erfc complementary error function  相似文献

In a previous publication (1977) the author has constructed a family () of long-periodic orbits in the Trojan case of the restricted problems of three bodies. Here he constructs the domain of the analytical solution of the problem of the motion, excluding the vicinity of thecritical divisor which vanishes at the exact commensurability of the natural frequencies 1 and 2. In terms of thecritical masses mj(2), or the associatedcritical energies j 2 (m), is the intersection of the intervals ofshallow resonance, of the form. Inasmuch as the intervals |2j 2 |<j ofdeep resonance aredisjoint, it follows that (1) the disjointed family () embraces the tadpole branch, 021, lying in: and (2) despite the clustering of j 2 (m) atj=, the family () includes, for 2=1, an asymptoticseparatrix that terminates the branch in the vicinity of the Lagrangian pointL 3.In a similar manner, the family () can be extended to the horseshoe branch 1<2 2 2 .  相似文献

A simplified representation of the temperature distribution in the solar photosphere is proposed: ( 0) = 0 - 1 log 0. An expression is derived for the emergent continuous spectrum from the simple model. The limitations and applications of the simple model are discussed.  相似文献

An exact analysis of the effects of mass transfer on the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid past an uniformly accelerated vertical porous and non-porous plate has been presented on taking into account the free convection currents. The results are discussed with the effects of the Grashof number Gr, the modified Grashof number Sc, the Schmidt number Sc, and the suction parametera for Pr (the Prandtl number)=0.71 representating air at 20°C.Nomenclature a suction parameter - C species concentration - C species concentration at the free stream - g acceleration due gravity - Gc modified Grashof number (vg*(C C )/U 0 3 ) - Pr Prandtl number (C p/K) - T temperature of the fluid near the plate - T dimensionless temperature near the plate ((T-T )/(T -T )) - U(t) dimensionless velocity of the plate (U/U 0) - v normal velocity component - v 0 suction/injection velocity - x, y coordinate along and normal to the plate - v kinematic viscosity (/gr) - C p specific heat at constant pressure - C w species concentration at the plate - C non-dimensional species concentration ((C-C )/(C w -C )) - Gr Grashof number (g(T w -T )/U 0 3 ) - D chemical molecular diffusivity - K thermal conductivity - Sc Schmidt number (/D) - T w temperature of the plate - T free stream temperature - t time variable - t dimensionless time (tU 0 2 /) - U 0 reference velocity - u velocity of the fluid near the plate - u non-dimensional velocity (u/U 0) - v dimensionless velocity (v/U 0) - v 0 non-dimensionalv 0 (v 0 /U0)=–at–1/2 - y dimensionless ordinate (yU 0/) - density of the fluid - coefficient of viscosity  相似文献

In this paper, a technique of recursive analysis is developed for the integral transform A of the exponential integral functionsE n which is denoted as n (). The main result of this analysis enables us to establish a two-term recurrence formula for n (0) and a three-term recurrence formula for n (); 0. A computational algorithm based on these formulae is also constructed and its numerical results forn=2(1)25 are presented to 15-digit accuracy.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new parameter, the shear angle of vector magnetic fields, , to describe the non-potentiality of magnetic fields in active regions, which is defined as the angle between the observed vector magnetic field and its corresponding current-free field. In the case of highly inclined field configurations, this angle is approximately equal to the angular shear, , defined by Hagyardet al. (1984). The angular shear, , can be considered as the projection of the shear angle, , on the photosphere. For the active region studied, the shear angle, , seems to have a better and neater correspondence with flare activity than does . The shear angle, , gives a clearer explanation of the non-potentiality of magnetic fields. It is a better measure of the deviation of the observed magnetic field from a potential field, and is directly related to the magnetic free energy stored in non-potential fields.  相似文献

High-resolution filtergrams of the quiet chromosphere, taken at seven wavelengths in H with the aid of a computer-controlled 1/8 Å filter, have been used to derive the contrast of ten bright and dark mottles as functions of wavelength. The contrast profiles of bright and dark mottles are strikingly different. They disagree with Athay's (1970) velocity model but, with an appropriate choice of parameters, can be brought into good agreement with Beckers' (1964) cloud model. Comparison between observation and theory yields values for the source function S, optical thickness t 0, line broadening parameter 0, and line-of-sight velocity V for both bright and dark mottles. The values of S and t 0 obtained for dark mottles are consistent with Beckers' (1968) spicule model.  相似文献

The structure of rotating magnetic polytropes is considered in Roche approximation. Investigation of the influence of poloidal as well as toroidal magnetic fields on the conditions of the beginning of matter outflow due to rotational instability is carried out. The influence of the turbulent convection and twisting of magnetic force-lines on the time of smoothing of differential rotation is considered. The estimate of the magneto-turbulence energy generated by differential rotation is presented. Both maximum possible energy output and duration of the quasi-statical evolution phase up to the appearance of hydrodynamic instability due to the effects of general relativity are calculated for supermassive magnetic polytropes of index three with uniform or differential rotation. The radius-mass relation is obtained for supermassive differentially-rotating magnetic polytropes referring to the longest part of the quasi-statistical evolution stage; some consequences are pointed out, including the period-luminosity relation. The evolution of the considered models of supermassive rotating magnetic polytropes with different character of rotation and different geometry of a magnetic field is discussed. The results obtained are summarized in the last section.

The Hall effect on the unsteady hydromagnetic free-convection resulting from the combined effects of thermal and mass diffusion of an electrical-conducting liquid through a porous medium past an infinite vertical porous plate in a rotating system have been analysed. The expressions for the mean velocity, mean skin friction, and mean rate of heat transfer on the plate are derived. The effects of magnetic parameterM, Hall parameterm, Ekman numberE, and permeability parameterK * on the flow field are discussed with the help of graphs and tables.Nomenclature C p specific heat at constant pressure - C the species concentration inside the boundary layer - C w the species concentration at porous plate - C the species concentration of the fluid at infinite - C dimensionless species concentration - D chemical molecular diffusivity - E Ekman number - Ec Eckert number - g acceleration due to gravity - Gr Grashof number - Gm modified Grashof number - H 0 applied magnetic field - (J x, Jy, Jz) components of current density - M magnetic parameter - m Hall parameter - P Prandtl number - q m mean rate of heat transfer - Sc Schmidt number - t time - t dimensionless time - T temperature of fluid - T w temperature of the plate - T temperature of fluid at infinite - T dimensionless temperature - (u, v, w) components of the velocityq - w 0 suction velocity - (x, y, z) Cartesian coordinates - z dimensionless coordinate normal to the plate Greek symbols coefficient of volume expansion - * coefficient of thermal expansion with concentration - frequency - dimensionless frequency - k thermal conductivity - K * permeability parameter - dinematic viscosity - density of the fluid in the boundary layer - coefficient of viscosity - e magnetic permeability - angular velocity - electrical conductivity of the fluid - m mean skin friction - mn mean skin friction in the direction ofx - mv mean skin friction in the direction ofy  相似文献

The location and the stability of the libration points in the restricted problem have been studied when small perturbation and are given to the Coriolis and the centrifugal forces respectively. It is seen that the pointsL 4 andL 5 form nearly equilateral triangles with the primaries and the pointsL 1,L 2,L 3 remain collinear. It is further observed that for the pointsL 4 andL 5, the range of stability increases or decreases depending upon whether the point (, ) lies in one or the other of the two parts in which the (, ) plane is divided by the line 36-19=0 and the stability of the collinear points is not influenced by the perturbations and they remain unstable.  相似文献

Some particular solutions of the restricted three-body problem which determine outgoing or incoming orbits near libration points are considered. The solutions are obtained in the form of absolutely convergent Liapounov series. It is proved that these asymptotic solutions are plane curves situated in the orbital plane of the primaries. Each family of asymptotic solutions for every collinear point consists of four solutions which are the separatrices of a saddle point. The angles of inclination of the separatrices are determined.

We determine the momentum distribution of the relativistic particles near the Crab pulsar from the observed X- and -ray spectra (103109 eV), provided that the curvature radiation is responsible for it. The power law spectrum for the relativistic electrons,f() –5, reproduces a close fit to the observed high-energy photon spectrum. The theoretically determined upper limit to the momentum (due to radiation damping), M 8×106, corresponds to the upper cut-off energy of the -ray spectrum, 109 eV. The lower limit to the momentum, m 1.8×105, is chosen such that flattening of the X-ray spectrum below 10 keV is simulated. The number density of these electrons is found to be much higher than the Goldreich-Julian density. We also discuss pulse shape and polarization of high-energy photons. The extremely high density of particles and the steep momentum spectrum are difficult to understand. This may imply that another, more efficient, mechanism is in operation.  相似文献

A spectroscopic investigation of a quiescent prominence has been performed: the line profiles of the H and K lines have been carefully determined in all regions of the prominence where these emissions are likely to originate in optically thin layers. Therefore we have been able to study the electron temperature T e and the microturbulent velocity in the outer parts of the prominence. We find that on the average, T e = 5700 K (Figure 1) and = 6.7 km s-1 (Figure 2) which are in very good agreement with classical data. Figure 3 represents the radial velocity measurements and Figure 4 the ratio of the total intensity of H to K lines. Thus the prominence we have observed does not show for T e and the regular increase outward which has been described by Hirayama (1971). On the other hand increases towards the Equator, in the dynamically active part of the prominence, which could indicate that represents the effect of macroturbulence rather than microturbulence (Kawaguchi, 1966). In this part of the prominence only the K line is in emission and the average value of the microturbulence is 9.4 km s-1, the radial velocity is also generally increasing. At last, according to the absolute intensities of the H and K lines, the electron density in the outer layers of the prominence is no more than 1 × 1010 cm-3.  相似文献

The method of obtaining the estimates of the maximalt-interval ( , +) on which the solution of theN-body problem exists and which is such that some fixed mutual distance (e. g. 12) exceeds some fixed non-negative lower bound, for allt contained in ( , +), is considered. For given masses and initial data, the increasing sequences of the numbers k , each of which provides the estimate + > k , are constructed. It appears that if + = +, then .  相似文献

On the classification of motion in the generalized two-dimensional problem of three fixed centres
A qualitative analysis and classification of forms of motion in the problem under consideration have been carried out using a method (applicable to any case of integrability) due to Liouville. All the forms of the two-dimensional motions for any masses (negative and complex as well) at fixed centres corresponding to the real potential have been considered.

It has empirically been shown that, for a given value of the effective temperature, the correction in (B-V) due to line blanketing varies linearly with the metallicity parameter S. Next, on the basis of considerations different from those used to obtain a similar result by Sturch (1966), a relation between reciprocal effective temperature e (=5040/T e ) and intrinsic line-free colour index(B-V) o,c has been obtained based on the e and (B-V) values for five RR Lyr variables. Relations between e and intrinsic colour(B-V) o for different groups of stars having a S parameter in the range 0S11 have also been obtained.  相似文献

Some peculiarities in the behaviour of a model self-gravitating system described by hydrodynamical equations and isothermal equation of state connected with the presence of thermodynamical fluctuations in real systems were investigated in numerical experiment. The values of density and velocity , , respectively, were computed by numerical code perturbed on each time-step and in each computational cell by random values , for modeling such fluctuations. Perturbed values i = i + i ,v i = i + v i were used to initiate the next step of computations. This procedure is equivalent to an introduction into original hydrodynamical equations of Langevin sources which are random functions. It is shown that these small fluctuations (= v =0,2 =v 2 = 10–8) grow many times in marginally-stable state.  相似文献

Two new Th ii lines have been identified in the spectrum of the solar photosphere. The abundance derived from these lines together with the previously known Th ii line at 4019 Å, is log Th = 0.85 ± 0.20 in the log H = 12.00 scale. Analysis of three Pb i lines in the photospheric spectrum resulted in an abundance of log pb = 1.90 ± 0.10. The solar Th/Pb ratio is: Th/ Pb = 0.09 -0.005 0.09 .  相似文献
