本文对1950~2001年1月份的大气风场和大洋流场做了联合复EOF(Empirical Orthogonal Function)分解,用以探讨1月份两类ENSO(El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation)的海气环流及耦合情况,所得结果主要有:该分解第1、2模态空间场分别相应于东部型、中部型ENSO,前者在赤道太平洋东部和中部都有海温动力异常,并以东部异常最强,后者仅在中部存在此异常,两模态的时间系数都与ENSO有很好相关,为此第1、2模态可分别称为东部型、中部型ENSO的风场流场(异常)模态。东部型ENSO模态具有3~6年的年际变化和13~14年的年代际变化,中部型则有明显的7年年际变化和12、17年的年代际变化,两者中约13年的周期与冬季北太平洋NPGO(North Pacific Gyre Oscillation)的周期相同。东、中部型El Ni?o期间,沃克环流上升支分别从印尼东移至赤道西、中太平洋,并有所减弱;南、北支哈得莱环流则分别位于日界线以东及该线附近,且均有所加强,从而使南、北太平洋副热带高压偏强;而在5°S的南美沿岸则分别有垂直运动上升和下沉异常。在海气耦合上,两类ENSO模态在赤道中太平洋均存在西风异常与海洋赤道Kelvin波和Rossby波的波包解耦合,而海温动力异常对大气的影响则都起到负反馈作用,从而有利于ENSO的维持和稳定。  相似文献

利用1951—2006年NCEP/NCAR再分析资料,采用EOF(empirical orthogonal function,经验正交函数)展开方法提取了南太平洋12—2月海表温度变化的主要模态,其第一模态反映了ENSO(El Nino-Southern Oscillation)的信号,周期为3~5a;第二模态与南半球环状模(Southern-Hemi-sphere annual mode,SAM)相联系,周期为准两年。结果表明,南太平洋EOF1时间序列处于正(负)相位时华北地区后期5月多(少)雨,同时注意到南、北太平洋EOF1对中国5月降水的影响区域基本一致。南太平洋EOF2时间序列处于正(负)相位时江南地区的夏季平均降水减少(增多)。去掉EOF1和EOF2的线性趋势后,这种显著相关仍然存在,只是显著相关区域有所缩小。利用南、北太平洋EOF1时间序列作为预报因子,建立回归预报方程,可为预测中国华北地区5月降水提供依据  相似文献

The influence of El Nio-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on the convectively coupled Kelvin waves over the tropical Pacific is investigated by comparing the Kelvin wave activity in the eastern Pacific (EP) El Nio, central Pacific (CP) El Nio, and La Nia years, respectively, to 30-yr (1982-2011) mean statistics. The convectively coupled Kelvin waves in this study are represented by the two leading modes of empirical orthogonal function (EOF) of 2-25-day band-pass filtered daily outgoing longwave radiation (OLR), with the estimated zonal wavenumber of 3 or 4, period of 8 days, and eastward propagating speed of 17 ms-1 . The most significant impact of ENSO on the Kelvin wave activity is the intensification of the Kelvin waves during the EP El Nios. The impact of La Nia on the reduction of the Kelvin wave intensity is relatively weaker, reflecting the nonlinearity of tropical deep convection and the associated Kelvin waves in response to ENSO sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies. The impact of the CP El Nio on the Kelvin waves is less significant due to relatively weaker SST anomalies and smaller spatial coverage. ENSO may also alter the frequency, wavelength, and phase speed of the Kelvin waves. This study demonstrates that low-frequency ENSO SST anomalies modulate high-frequency tropical disturbances, an example of weather-climate linkage.  相似文献

本文利用OAFlux资料研究了1958~2015年北半球冬季太平洋蒸发量在不同厄尔尼诺—南方涛动(ENSO)和太平洋年代际振荡(PDO)位相下的分布特征,并从水汽收支的角度分析了蒸发量异常的成因,结果表明:ENSO主要影响热带东太平洋、副热带西北太平洋和中纬度北太平洋中部的蒸发量。El Ni?o(La Ni?a)时水汽在北太平洋中部异常辐散(辐合),有利于当地大气水汽含量减小(增大),造成蒸发量增大(减小);副热带西北太平洋异常的水汽辐合(辐散)有利于蒸发量减小(增大);除此以外,蒸发量在热带东太平洋蒸发量增大(减小)则主要是降水量增大(减小)导致。与此同时,ENSO对上述海区蒸发量的影响还受到PDO的调控,当PDO处于暖(冷)位相时,El Ni?o(La Ni?a)造成蒸发量异常程度在中纬度北太平洋中部显著增大,这主要是由降水量增大(减小)引起的大气水汽含量减小(增大)所致,此时对应着风暴轴异常增大(减小);当PDO处于冷(暖)位相时,El Ni?o(La Ni?a)造成的蒸发量异常程度在副热带西北太平洋和热带东太平洋显著增大,而这与湿度变化引起的水汽平流异常程度增大紧密相关。  相似文献

利用G分布函数对中国1951-2004年地面台站逐日降水观测资料进行雨日降水量概率分布拟合并定义极端降水事件,在此基础上对极端降水日数与ENSO的关系进行分析研究。结果表明,ENSO对同期的极端降水发生频率在不同地区和不同季节表现出不同的影响作用。总体而言,中国极端降水事件更易发生在厄尔尼诺年的冬春季和拉尼娜年的夏秋季。极端降水在对ENSO强信号的滞后响应上,其发生频率在时空上发生了变化,主要表现为,多数地方更易在ENSO暖位相出现后的半年左右发生极端降水事件。研究表明,ENSO冷暖信号对我国极端降水事件多寡的影响具有不对称性。  相似文献

Numerical experiments are performed to simulate the response of the atmospheric circulation and pre-cipitation over East China in June to the sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies over the tropical eastern Pacific(TEP)from preceding September to June by using an atmospheric general circulation model (AGCM).We constructed composite positive/negative SST anomalies(P-SSTAs/N-SSTAs)based on the observational SST anomalies over the TEP from September 1997 to June 1998.The results show that:(1) the response of the precipitation in the Yangtze River basin and its southern area(YRBS)to El Nino with different durations varies with the maximum amplitude of the precipitation anomalies appearing when the imposed duration is from November to next June,and the minimum appearing when the SST anomalies is only imposed in June.The anomalies of the precipitation are reduced when the duration of the forcing SST anomalies over the TEP is shortened and the positive SST anomalies in the preceding autumn tend to cause significantly more rainfall in the YRBS.This is in agreement with previous diagnostic analysis results.(2)The simulated precipitation anomalies over the YRBS are always obviously positive under strong or weak positive SST anomalies over the TEP.The intensity of the precipitation anomalies increases with increasing intensity of the SST anomalies in the experiments.The simulation results are consistent with the observations during the warm SST events,suggesting reasonable modeling results.(3)When negative SST anomalies in the TEP are put into the model,the results are different from those of the diagnostic analysis of La Nina events.Negative precipitation anomalies in YRBS could be reproduced only when the negative SST anomalies are strong enough.  相似文献

Based on the pentad mean ridgeline index of the western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH), the authors identified the two northward jumps of the WPSH from 1979 to 2008 and revealed their associations with the tropical SST anomalies. The authors show that the northward jumps, especially the second jump, exhibited remarkable interannual variability. In addition, the authors find that the two northward jumps were mutually independent and were influenced by the SST anomalies in the different regions of the tropical Pacific. The first jump was positively correlated with the SST anomalies in the tropical central Pacific from the preceding winter to June. In contrast, the second jump was positively related to ENSO in the preceding winter, but this correlation tended to weaken with the decay of ENSO and disappeared in July. Instead, a positive correlation was found in the Indian Ocean. We therefore suggest that ENSO plays an indirect role in the second jump through the capacitor effect of the Indian Ocean.  相似文献

2007年,Ashok等揭示了赤道太平洋区域存在一种三极型分布海表温度异常并称之为厄尔尼诺-Modoki,同时定义了相应的海表温度异常指数EMI(记为IEM)。在此基础上,利用英国哈得来中心逐月海表温度资料、美国NCEP/NCAR月平均再分析数据集、美国国家海洋和大气管理局(NOAA)逐月降水资料(CMAP),通过在太平洋海表温度异常中扣除厄尔尼诺-Modoki信号后,在Nino1+2区域上定义了东太平洋型海表温度异常指数EPNI(IEPN)。据此,由IEPN和IEM可构成描述热带太平洋海表温度异常变化的一对指数。分析了两个指数相应的海气状态及对海洋性大陆区域气候异常的影响。结果表明,厄尔尼诺-Modoki和东太平洋型海表温度异常及其影响存在显著差异。在北半球夏季,当IEM处于正位相时,热带太平洋海表温度异常呈现“负-正-负”的结构,海洋性大陆大部分区域海表温度异常为负,此时对流层低层太平洋地区辐合,海洋性大陆地区辐散,对流层高层太平洋地区辐散,海洋性大陆地区辐合。对应于辐合辐散中心,存在着自赤道中太平洋分别向赤道东太平洋和海洋性大陆中东部地区的异常垂直环流圈,同时也存在自海洋性大陆西部向印度洋西部的垂直环流。大气在海洋性大陆区域北部加热,南部冷却;在太平洋地区西部加热而东部冷却;在海洋性大陆区域10°N以南降水偏少,而10°N以北降水偏多。当IEPN处于正位相时,热带太平洋海表温度异常呈现“西负东正”分布型,海洋性大陆区域海表温度异常呈现“西正东负”分布,对流层低层海洋性大陆地区辐散中心范围偏大、位置偏东、强度偏强,太平洋地区辐合中心范围偏小、位置偏东,热带环流异常在垂直方向上呈斜压结构,海洋性大陆区域北部大气加热而南部冷却,太平洋地区大气均呈加热正异常,海洋性大陆大部分区域降水均偏少,赤道太平洋降水偏多。以上这些结果有利于深刻理解热带太平洋海表温度异常的特征及其对海洋性大陆区域气候的影响。  相似文献

Here, SST effects include sea surface heating and forcing of SST anomalies (SSTAs). Studies of the influences of sea surface heating on LFO frequency and stability show that sea surface heating can slow the speed of waves and lower their frequency when SST is comparatively low; while higher SST leads to unstable waves and less periods of LFO. Since the impact of a SSTA on ultra-long waves is more evident than that on kilometer-scale waves, long-wave approximation is used when we continue to study the effect of SSTAs. Results indicate that SSTAs can lead to a longer period of LFO, and make waves unstable. In other words, positive (negative) SSTAs can make waves decay (grow).  相似文献

利用1951~2005年华南4、5月份降水资料、NOAA海温资料以及NCEP再分析资料,对华南4、5月份降水年代际变化的特征、及其所对应的大尺度环流以及与中西太平洋海温的关系作了分析。结果表明,华南4、5月份降水均在1970年代初期发生显著的年代际转变,从之前的降水偏少转变为降水偏多。华南4月份降水与前一年7~11月份的中西太平洋海温、华南5月份降水与当年2~5月份的中西太平洋海温有显著的负相关。在4、5月份年代际降水偏少(多)时期,前期中西太平洋海温偏暖(冷);同期亚洲大陆南部及非洲大陆的海平面气压显著偏低(高),北太平洋海区海平面气压偏高(低);我国华南上空存在反气旋性(气旋性)环流异常,我国华南地区北边界存在显著的南(北)风异常,造成华南地区北边界异常水汽输出增强(减弱)。同时,我国大陆对流层中上层大气显著偏暖(冷),东亚高空急流显著偏北(南),副热带高压偏弱(强)偏东(西),向华南地区输送的水汽减少(增加),从而在华南地区形成异常的水汽辐散(辐合),最终导致华南地区4、5月份降水的减少(增加)。  相似文献

基于NOAA重建的海面温度(sea surface temperature, SST)资料和NCEP再分析大气资料,研究了ENSO(El Niño-Southern Oscillation)与南海SST关系的年代际变化。结果表明:ENSO影响南海SST的冬、夏季“双峰”现象发生了显著的年代际变化,即冬季的“峰值”自20世纪80年代显著减弱,而夏季的“峰值”稳定持续且在20世纪70年代之后增强;冬季“峰值”的减弱可能与冬季西北太平洋反气旋的年代际变化有关,夏季“峰值”的维持和增强可能与20世纪70年代之后印度洋SST“电容器”效应的增强有关。  相似文献

用近百年的海温(SST)资料,分析研究了北太平洋海温的年代际变化特征及其基本形势(模态).结果表明,它主要存在准7~10年周期和准25~35年周期两类年代际变化;这两类年代际变化又都有类似的形势(模态),但却与所谓"类ENSO模"明显不同.同时,两个年代际模都有呈西北一东南向振荡和沿海盆作顺时针旋转的共存活动(演变)特征.  相似文献

The NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data have been employed to diagnose variations of the zonal mean flow in boreal summer. Two leading EOF modes are found to dominate the spatial and temporal changes of the summertime zonal mean winds in the troposphere. EOF1 shows the distribution of zonal-mean flow anomalies with higher variance in the North Polar Region, whereas the EOF2 shows the distribution of zonal-mean flow anomalies with higher variance in tropical and extra-tropical regions. The EOF1 and EOF2 have respectively the periodicities similar to those of AO and ENSO. Significant lag correlations have been found between EOF1 and ENSO, and between EOF2 and AO, in the seasons including spring, autumn, and winter. However, no significant correlations have been found between EOF1 in summer and ENSO in any other seasons, and between EOF2 in summer and AO in other seasons, no matter how big the lag that represents number of seasons has been set. These results suggest that the principal modes of summertime zonal mean flow could be statistically separated from each other. Hence, EOF1 and EOF2 are physically related to the AO and ENSO respectively. A theory called quasi-geostrophic non-acceleration theorem has been used to partly explain the possible mechanisms of the maintenance of the two principal modes. The composite differences of the divergence of Eliassen-Palm flux (E-P flux) between positive and negative years as obtained from the time series of EOF1 and EOF2 display the distributions that contribute to the zonal mean wind anomalies represented by EOF1 and EOF2, respectively. The planetary other than the synoptic waves dominate the behaviors of the E-P fluxes, suggesting the crucial role of the planetary waves in the maintenance of the zonal mean flow anomalies. The residual circulation as well as the friction, which cancel the divergence of the E-P flux, also play an important role in some places. These results are very helpful for our better understanding how the anomalous zonal mean flows maintain and how the ENSO and AO influence the global climate variations.  相似文献

采用中国160站降水资料、NOAA ERSST海温资料以及ERA-40大气再分析资料, 分析了中国东部夏季降水型的年代际变化特征及其与北太平洋海温的可能联系。结果表明: 中国东部夏季降水型在近50年中经历了两次年代际变化, 第1次发生在20世纪70年代中后期, 北太平洋中纬度地区冬季海温由正距平向负距平转变, 太平洋年代际振荡(PDO, Pacific decadal oscillation) 由负位相向正位相转变, 通过影响东亚夏季风环流, 使东亚夏季风减弱, 中国东部夏季降水从北到南呈现出“+-+” 转变为“-+-”的三极分布形态, 这次年代际变化体现了同一模态正负位相的转变; 第2次发生在20世纪80年代末90年代初, 北太平洋海温转变为日本以南西北太平洋的正距平分布, 同时菲律宾群岛附近海温偏暖, 西太平洋副热带高压偏南偏西, 使得中国东部夏季降水由北至南转变成“-+”的偶极分布形态, 这次年代际变化体现了一种模态向另一种模态的转变。  相似文献

Based on observational and reanalysis data,the relationships between the eastern Pacific(EP)and central Pacific(CP)types of El Ni?o?Southern Oscillation(ENSO)during the developing summer and the South Asian summer monsoon(SASM)are examined.The roles of these two types of ENSO on the SASM experienced notable multidecadal modulation in the late 1970s.While the inverse relationship between the EP type of ENSO and the SASM has weakened dramatically,the CP type of ENSO plays a far more prominent role in producing anomalous Indian monsoon rainfall after the late 1970s.The drought-producing El Ni?o warming of both the EP and CP types can excite anomalous rising motion of the Walker circulation concentrated in the equatorial central Pacific around 160°W to the date line.Accordingly,compensatory subsidence anomalies are evident from the Maritime Continent to the Indian subcontinent,leading to suppressed convection and decreased precipitation over these regions.Moreover,anomalously less moisture flux into South Asia associated with developing EP El Ni?o and significant northwesterly anomalies dominating over southern India accompanied by developing CP El Ni?o,may also have been responsible for the Indian monsoon droughts during the pre-1979 and post-1979 sub-periods,respectively.El Ni?o events with the same“flavor”may not necessarily produce consistent Indian monsoon rainfall anomalies,while similar Indian monsoon droughts may be induced by different types of El Ni?o,implying high sensitivity of monsoonal precipitation to the detailed configuration of ENSO forcing imposed on the tropical Pacific.  相似文献
