In order to reveal the star-forming history of the molecular cloud complex we studied the intermediate mass stellar population in the Cepheus Flare region. (Paper I dealt with the distance and the young stellar object candidates of the region.) Correlating the IRAS Point Source Catalogue and Faint Source Catalogue positions with those of 1214 B8–A8 and 1760 F0–F5 type stars brighter than     and classified during an objective prism survey, we identified 19 stars showing far-infrared excess emission in the Cepheus Flare region. In addition to the 16 stars whose counterparts are given in the IRAS catalogues, we found three more stars with infrared excess not recognized before. In order to identify the young medium-mass stars associated with the Cepheus Flare molecular clouds we observed the optical spectra of the IR-excess stars, and using published optical photometry and the IRAS data we examined their spectral energy distributions (SEDs) and IRAS two-colour diagram. The observations resulted in the discovery of a new Herbig Ae/Be star, BD +68°1118, coinciding with IRAS 21169+6842. More evolved HAe/Be stars may be SAO 19953, BD +67°1314 and BD +69°1231, whose H α lines showed weak emission components. Possible β Pictoris- or Vega-type stars may be HD 203854, HD 212826 and HD 216486, whereas the far-infrared fluxes at the positions of BD +72°1018, HD 210806 and HD 217903 can be attributed to the heating of the interstellar environment. We used distances and radial velocities of the stars derived from the spectroscopy and published optical photometry as indicators of their relations to the clouds. Information on the environment of the observed stars deduced from the diffuse interstellar band at λ 6613 is briefly discussed.  相似文献

We summarize here our ongoing project of multiwavelength optical observations aimed at studying the chromosphere of active binary systems, using the information provided for several optical spectroscopic features, that are formed at different heights in the chromosphere. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Based on 24 high-resolution echelle spectrograms of the Wolf-Rayet star HD 192163 taken in 2005–2007 at the Cassegrain focus of the 2-m Zeiss-2000 telescope at the Shemakha Astrophysical Observatory (National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan), we have investigated the profiles of five emission lines: He II 4859, He II 5411, CIV 5808, He I 5875, (He II + Hα) 6560. We have analyzed the echelle spectrograms using the DECH20 code. Various emission line parameters have been determined: the equivalent widths, radial velocities, central intensities, and FWHMs. The violet wing of the He II + Hα emission band has been found to be variable (from 6496 Å to 6532 Å). Significant differences in the equivalent widths and radial velocities of the He II + Hα emission band in 2005 and 2007 were revealed. This can be a manifestation of long-term variations in the star HD 192163. We have confirmed that HD 192163 belongs to the WN6 spectral subtype.  相似文献

This paper is the first of a series on radial velocities measures of the chromospherically-active and suspected stars. The chromospherically-active star BD + 25°2511 = HZ Com is found to be double-lined spectroscopic binary with an orbital period of3.558317 days and an eccentricity of0.013 ± 0.006. The orbital period does not differ substantially from the previously determined photometric period. If the photometric period is correct, this system is rotating synchronously and imposes important constraints on theories of synchronization and circularization of binary systems.  相似文献

We use the method introduced by Karami & Mohebi (2007), and Karami & Teimoorinia (2007) which enable us to derive the orbital parameters of the spectroscopic binary stars by the nonlinear least squares of observed vs. curve fitting (o-c). Using the measured experimental data for radial velocities of the four double-lined spectroscopic binary systems PV Pup, HD 141929, EE Cet and V921 Her, we find both the orbital and the combined spectroscopic elements of these systems. Our numerical results are in good agreement with those obtained using the method of Lehmann-Filhés.  相似文献

From radial velocities determined in high signal-to-noise digital spectra, we report the discovery that the brightest component of the binary system HD 150136 is of spectral type O3. We also present the first double-lined orbital solution for this binary. Our radial velocities confirm the previously published spectroscopic orbital period of 2.6 d. He  ii absorptions appear double at quadratures, but single lines of N  v and N  iv visible in our spectra define a radial velocity orbit of higher semi-amplitude for the primary component than do the He  ii lines. From our orbital analysis, we obtain minimum masses for the binary components of 27 and  18 M  . The neutral He absorptions apparently do not follow the orbital motion of any of the binary components, thus they most probably arise in a third star in the system.  相似文献

We have carried out a search for co‐moving stellar and substellar companions around 18 exoplanet host stars with the infrared camera MAGIC at the 2.2 m Calar Alto telescope, by comparing our images with images from the all sky surveys 2MASS, POSS I and II. Four stars of the sample namely HD80606, 55 Cnc, HD46375 and BD–10°3166, are listed as binaries in the Washington Visual Double Star Catalogue (WDS). The binary nature of HD80606, 55 Cnc, and HD46375 is confirmed with both astrometry as well as photometry, thereby the proper motion of the companion of HD46375 was determined here for the first time.We derived the companion masses as well as the longterm stability regions for additional companions in these three binary systems. We can rule out further stellar companions around all stars in the sample with projected separations between 270AU and 2500AU, being sensitive to substellar companions with masses down to ∼60 MJup (S /N = 3). Furthermore we present evidence that the two components of the WDS binary BD–10°3166 are unrelated stars, i.e this system is a visual pair. The spectrophotometric distance of the primary (a K0 dwarf) is ∼67 pc, whereas the presumable secondary BD–10°3166B (a M4 to M5 dwarf) is located at a distance of 13 pc in the foreground. Two radio stars are selected, both equally powerful in microwave radio emission, but one of which, HD 101379, with a superpower chromosphere, and the other one, HD 132742, without a noticable chromosphere. On IUE recordings of HD 132742, a binary system like HD 101319, the doublet 2800 Mg II appears in absorption (Figure 1a). However, in the last case the faint emission traces of k and h Mg II have been discovered in the lowest parts of absorption profiles. The reconstructed profiles of these emission details seem to be shifted to the relation of absorption profiles, which may be interpreted as a confirmation of the non-chromospheric nature of these details. In the case of radio star HD 101379, also a binary system,on the contrary, the doublet 2800 Mg II appears as a strong emission, without shift. These limiting cases may be combined assuming that the sources of both types of emission, radio and magnesium doublet are located in the space between the components of binary systems. The parameters of these sources are obtained.  相似文献

A method for a kinematic analysis of stellar radial velocities using spherical harmonics is proposed. This approach does not depend on the specific kinematic model and allows both low-frequency and high-frequency kinematic radial velocity components to be analyzed. The possible systematic variations of distances with coordinates on the celestial sphere that, in turn, are modeled by a linear combination of spherical harmonics are taken into account. Theoretical relations showing how the coefficients of the decomposition of distances affect the coefficients of the decomposition of the radial velocities themselves have been derived. It is shown that the larger the mean distance to the sample of stars being analyzed, the greater the shift in the solar apex coordinates, while the shifts in the Oort parameter A are determined mainly by the ratio of the second zonal harmonic coefficient to the mean distance to the stars, i.e., by the degree of flattening of the spatial distribution of stars toward the Galactic plane. The distances to the stars for which radial velocity estimates are available in the CRVAD-2 catalog have been decomposed into spherical harmonics, and the existing variations of distances with coordinates are shown to exert no noticeable influence on both the solar motion components and the estimates of the Oort parameter A, because the stars from this catalog are comparatively close to the Sun (no farther than 500 pc). In addition, a kinematic component that has no explanation in terms of the three-dimensional Ogorodnikov-Milne model is shown to be detected in the stellar radial velocities, as in the case of stellar proper motions.  相似文献

Based on our high-spectral-resolution observations performed with the NES echelle spectrograph of the 6-m telescope, we have studied the peculiarities of the spectrum and the velocity field in the atmosphere and envelope of the cool supergiant V1027 Cyg, the optical counterpart of the infrared source IRAS 20004+2955. A splitting of the cores of strong absorptions of metals and their ions (Si II, Ni I, Ti I, Ti II, Sc II, Cr I, Fe I, Fe II, BaII) has been detected in the stellar spectrum for the first time. The broad profile of these lines contains a stable weak emission in the core whose position may be considered as the systematic velocity V sys = 5.5 km s?1. Small radial velocity variations with an amplitude of 5–6 km s?1 due to pulsations have been revealed by symmetric low- and moderate-intensity absorptions. A long-wavelength shift of the Hα profile due to line core distortion is observed in the stellar spectrum. Numerous weak CN molecular lines and the KI 7696 Å line with a P Cyg profile have been identified in the red spectral region. The coincidence of the radial velocities measured from symmetric metal absorptions and CN lines suggests that the CN spectrum is formed in the stellar atmosphere. We have identified numerous diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) whose positions in the spectrum, V r (DIBs) = ?12.0 km s?1, correspond to the velocity of the interstellar medium in the Local Arm of the Galaxy.  相似文献

This paper presents a new algorithm, trimor , to analyse multi-order spectra of triple systems. The algorithm is an extension of tricor , the three-dimensional correlation technique that derives the radial velocities of triple stellar systems from single-order spectra. The combined correlation derived from many orders enables the detection and the measurement of radial velocities of faint tertiary companions. The paper applied trimor to the already available spectra of HD 188753, a well-known triple system, yielding the radial velocities of the faintest star in the system. This rendered the close pair of the triple system a double-lined spectroscopic binary, which led to a precise mass ratio and an estimate of its inclination. The close-pair inclination is very close to the inclination of the wide orbit, consistent with the assertion that this triple system has a close to coplanar configuration.  相似文献

A new high-quality set of orbital parameters for the O-type spectroscopic binary HD 93205 has been obtained combining échelle and coudé CCD observations. The radial velocity orbits derived from the He  ii λ 4686 Å (primary component) and He  i λ 4471 Å (secondary component) absorption lines yield semi-amplitudes of 133±2 and 314±2 km s−1 for each binary component, resulting in minimum masses of 31 and 13 M ( q =0.42) . We also confirm for the binary components the spectral classification of O3 V+ O8 V previously assigned. Assuming for the O8 V component a 'normal' mass of 22–25 M we would derive for the primary O3 V a mass of 'only' 52–60 M and an inclination of about 55° for the orbital plane. We have also determined for the first time a period of apsidal motion for this system, namely 185±16 yr using all available radial velocity data sets of HD 93205 (from 1975 to 1999). Phase-locked variations of the X-ray emission of HD 93205 consisting of a rise of the observed X-ray flux near periastron passage are also discussed.  相似文献

High resolution echelle spectroscopic observations taken with the FEROS spectrograph at the 2.2 m telescope ESO confirm the binary nature of the flare M3.5V star LU Vel (GJ 375, RE J0958-462) previously reported by Christian and Mathioudakis (2002). Emission of similar intensity from both components is detected in the Balmer, Na i D1&D2, He i D3, Ca ii H&K, and Ca ii IRT lines. We have determined precise radial velocities by cross correlation with radial velocity standard stars, which have allowed us to obtain for the first time the orbital solution of the system. The binary consists of two near-equal M3.5V components with an orbital period shorter than 2 days. We have analyzed the behaviour of the chromospheric activity indicators (variability and possible flares). In addition, we have determined its rotational velocity and kinematics.  相似文献

Spectroscopic observations by the 2.6 m BAO telescope of IRAS galaxies identified on the basis of the First Byurakan Survey (BIG objects) are reported. Slit spectra were obtained for 16 objects, including components of 7 multiple systems and 2 individual galaxies. The red shifts were measured, and the radial velocities, distances, absolute stellar magnitudes, and infrared and far infrared luminosities were calculated. A diagnostic diagram has been constructed based on the intensity ratios of emission lines and the activity types of the objects have been determined. Two LINERs, five galaxies with composite spectra (Comp, one of which has Sy2 features) and seven HII regions were found. Two objects are ultraluminous IR galaxies (ULIG). It is shown that all the multiple systems are physical pairs or groups. The observed high IR luminosity confirms the view that ULIG/HLIGs may be associated with interactions of galaxies.  相似文献

Massive stars
We describe the present state of massive star research seen from the viewpoint of stellar evolution, with special emphasis on close binaries. Statistics of massive close binaries are reasonably complete for the Solar neighbourhood. We defend the thesis that within our knowledge, many scientific results where the effects of binaries are not included, have an academic value, but may be far from reality. In chapter I, we summarize general observations of massive stars where we focus on the HR diagram, stellar wind mass loss rates, the stellar surface chemistry, rotation, circumstellar environments, supernovae. Close binaries can not be studied separately from single stars and vice versa. First, the evolution of single stars is discussed (chapter I). We refer to new calculations with updated stellar wind mass loss rate formalisms and conclusions are proposed resulting from a comparison with representative observations. Massive binaries are considered in chapter II. Basic processes are briefly described, i.e. the Roche lobe overflow and mass transfer, the common envelope process, the spiral-in process in binaries with extreme mass ratio, the effects of mass accretion and the merging process, the implications of the (asymmetric) supernova explosion of one of the components on the orbital parameters of the binary. Evolutionary computations of interacting close binaries are discussed and general conclusions are drawn. The enormous amount of observational data of massive binaries is summarized. We separately consider the non-evolved and evolved systems. The latter class includes the semi-detached and contact binaries, the WR binaries, the X-ray binaries, the runaways, the single and binary pulsars. A general comparison between theoretical evolution and observations is combined with a discussion of specially interesting binaries: the evolved binaries HD 163181, HD 12323, HD 14633, HD 193516, HD 25638, HD 209481, Per and Sgr; the WR+OB binary V444 Cyg; the high mass X-ray binaries Vela X-1, Wray 977, Cyg X-1; the low mass X-ray binaries Her X-1 and those with a black hole candidate; the runaway Pup, the WR+compact companion candidates Cyg X-3, HD 50896 and HD 197406. We finally propose an overall evolutionary model of massive close binaries as a function of primary mass, mass ratio and orbital period. Chapter III deals with massive star population synthesis with a realistic population of binaries. We discuss the massive close binary frequency, mass ratio and period distribution, the observations that allow to constrain possible asymmetries during the supernova explosion of a massive star. We focuss on the comparison between observed star numbers (as a function of metallicity) and theoretically predicted numbers of stellar populations in regions of continuous star formation and in starburst regions. Special attention is given to the O-type star/WR star/red supergiant star population, the pulsar and binary pulsar population, the supernova rates. Received 17 July 1998  相似文献

The influence of the SCHWARZSCHILD effect on the orbital and system elements of weak and short-periodic spectroscopic binaries has been examined. It effects the observational times and phases by broadening the spectral lines. Analyzing two model system – a theoretical one and a real weak and short-periodic binary (BD + 57° 1942) – correction terms have been determined and their influence on the orbital and system elements by a method of WILSING and RUSSELL have been studied.  相似文献

This paper presents new observations of 97 planetary nebulae in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) obtained using the FLAIR system on the UK 1.2-m Schmidt Telescope. These nebulae are mostly at the fainter end of the known population, and about 75 per cent have not been observed before in spectroscopic mode. Radial velocities have been measured using cross-correlation techniques, and represent an increase of 66 per cent in the sample of LMC planetary nebulae with known radial velocities. The major line ratios are given, and are analysed in conjunction with published data. One-quarter of the faint nebulae are Type I objects with very strong [N II ] and [S II ] lines; most of the other faint nebulae have low density, low excitation and relatively strong [S II ] lines.  相似文献

Radial velocities for 114 Hipparcos stars, mostly high transverse velocity binaries without previous radial velocity measurements, are published. Measurements are made with the CORAVEL‐type radial velocity spectrometer. The accuracy of measurements is better than 1 km/s. Two stars, BD +30° 2129A and HD 117466AB are found to be radial velocity variables, and three more stars, HD 119515A, HD 131597AB, and HD 153344, are possible radial velocity variables.  相似文献
