洪水型季节性河流砂岩以碎屑黏土含量高为特征。按照组构,碎屑黏土可划分为泥质内碎屑、机械渗滤黏土和成壤泥质凝聚体。泥质内碎屑主要分布于河道砂岩的底部。机械渗滤黏土包括脊状和桥状、示底组构、松散聚集、胶膜和块状聚集体5种类型,其空间分布受控于潜水面波动和河道下切或迁移。成壤泥质凝聚体往往分布于具有纹理或交错层理的砂岩或粉砂岩、滞留沉积、大型槽状层理砂岩与河道充填序列的顶部。机械渗滤黏土是导致河流相砂岩储层非均质性的重要因素之一,砒砂岩的侵蚀脆弱性可能与高含碎屑蒙皂石有关。  相似文献

Characteristic meniscus geometries formed by kaolinitic infiltration are observed in Nubian sandstones collected on the western coast of the Sinai Peninsula (Egypt). Based on petrographic and scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations, the kaolinite forming the menisci consists of mixed-size discrete platelets that gather into the corners around the framework grain-to-grain contacts. Specifically, the internal fabric of menisci indicates a general organizing trend from (1) the centre, where the platelets coat the framework grains; (2) to the peripheral zone, where they are oriented tangentially to grain surfaces; (3) to the pore linings with curvatures that are consistent with theoretical considerations of air–water interfaces. This typical arrangement suggests a detrital origin of kaolinite platelets by mechanical infiltration into sediments lying above the tablewater, in vadose conditions. This type of clay cementation occurring during early diagenesis can prevent (delay) deep burial diagenetic processes and therefore preserve excellent reservoir properties.  相似文献

Characteristic fabrics such as micrite envelopes, calcified filaments and micritic grain-to-grain bridges are observed in a modern subtidal firmground (Wood Cay, Bahamas) and in a variety of firm- and hardgrounds of Lower Cretaceous and Upper Jurassic platform carbonates (Swiss and French Jura Mountains). Their similarity to microbial fabrics described in grapestones and in intertidal to continental vadose environments suggests that microbial activity played an important role in the initial stabilization and cementation of carbonate sands. 'Meniscus-type cements' (to distinguish them from vadose meniscus cements), which clearly formed in subtidal environments, are related to filament calcification, trapping of percolating micrite and microbially induced carbonate formation. Such meniscus-type cements are commonly micritic, but meniscus-shaped precipitation of fibrous aragonite or sparitic calcite around organic filaments is also observed. Therefore, an interpretation of vadose early diagenesis should not be based on meniscus cements alone. Similarly, subtidally formed filamentous structures can strongly resemble alveolar septal structures and be interpreted incorrectly as related to subaerial exposure.  相似文献

The petrography and powder diffraction analyses were integrated to study the effect of diagenesis on the reservoir quality of the Mamu Sandstone in areas around Enugu, southeastern Nigeria. The sands are moderately to well sorted, very fine to fine grained feldspathic arenite deposited in diverse environments of upper to lower shoreface and sub-environments of delta plain. Pressure solutions, authigenic clays and quartz and feldspar overgrowths are the main diagenetic features of the sandstones in the area. These diagenetic features result in mechanical and chemical compaction, alteration of framework grains and precipitation of dissolved grains. In varying degrees, coating of clasts and filling of pore-spaces by clay and heavy minerals reduced the pore throat diameter, which caused mild reduction of the porosity and permeability of sands. Despite these observed diagenetic effects, the Mamu sands still have the potential to serve as good hydrocarbons reservoir especially for gas.  相似文献

Soft-sediment clasts composed of silt and clay are contained within glacial outwash sands in the Puget Sound, Washington State, USA. The outwash was deposited during ice retreat of the Cordilleran ice sheet around 17 cal kyr BP. The soft-sediment clasts have a distinctive and consistent morphology and disposition within the sand beds. The sedimentology, sedimentary structures and presence of soft-sediment clasts suggest sand was deposited as proglacial outwash with silts and clays deposited in meltwater pools. Following drying-out of the pools and subaerial cracking, lumps of silt and clay were excavated by meltwater and transported distally as soft-sediment clasts within high-density flows. The most likely final depositional setting is as a Salisbury-type ‘delta’ in which subaqueous outwash grades distally into deeper water. This interpretation shows the power of soft-sediment clasts to inform on past processes and palaeogeography for which there is often little evidence in the geologic record.  相似文献

The microstructures of cm-scale displacement faults offsetting unlithified sequences of finely interbedded sands, silts and clays from outcrops in Denmark have been examined. A variety of shear band types are recognised based on their grain-scale deformation mechanism and internal structure. Shear bands in a Jurassic sequence exposed along the coastline of Bornholm are characterised by intense cataclasis of both sand and clay layers. This deformation mechanism is accompanied by extensive grain scale mixing along discrete shear bands to give a fault rock composition that reflects the relative amount of sand and clay within the faulted sequence. In contrast, shear bands at Nr. Lyngby and Jensgaard, both on the Jutland coast, are characterised by granular flow within the sand units. Grain scale mixing is subdued at these locations so that layers maintain their integrity across the shear band to form a layered internal structure of sand, silt and clay smears. In some instances, particularly at Nr. Lyngby, clays have deformed in a brittle manner so that they do not contribute material to the shear band, which is then comprised exclusively of coarser-grained components. The different deformation mechanisms and internal structures of shear bands are thought to be controlled by burial depth at the time of faulting.  相似文献

Porosity and permeability may be preserved in deep sandstone reservoirs by clay coating (mainly chlorite) which limits quartz overgrowths. Chloritization around quartz grains results mainly from mineralogical transformations of pre‐existing clays. It is fundamental to study those clay precursors to better understand and predict the location and distribution of clay coatings in subsurface sandstones for petroleum or geothermal prospecting. This paper reports a high‐resolution analysis of the composition, distribution and fabric of clays along a modern estuary, the Gironde (south‐west France). The scale of the study ranges from thin sections, through sand bar bodies, up to the entire estuary. Results show that clays are detrital and deposited at the same time as sand grains despite strong hydrodynamic conditions. Clays bind to medium‐grained sands forming detrital clay grain coats. On average, 26% of detrital sand grains are coated along the entire length of the estuary. Coat thickness varies from 1 μm to more than 200 μm, and coat coverage exceeds 30% in some samples. The turbidity maximum zone position (surface water turbidity from 1 to 10 g l?1) in the estuary, which is controlled by seasonal variations in hydrodynamic processes, significantly impacts the location of the maximum clay content and the abundance of coated grains in sandy facies along the estuary. Flocculation in the water column results in the accumulation of suspended matter and contributes to the high turbidity in the estuary. Exopolymeric substances produced by diatoms are observed both in the field and by cryo‐scanning electron microscopy, suggesting that they may play a major role in binding detrital clay around sand grains. Finally, tidal bars and heterolithic point bars in the estuary funnel and estuarine channels are prime sedimentological targets for finding clay coatings and potentially good reservoir quality in deeply buried sandstones.  相似文献

本文对原状软土和重塑软土进行渗透特性试验,考察了饱和软土的渗透特性。原状样加载初期,渗透系数变化较小,当固结应力大于结构屈服应力时,渗透系数急剧下降,而结构屈服应力前后阶段的孔隙比与渗透系数对数坐标的直线关系没有发生变化,说明胶结对渗透性的影响较小。重塑土的渗透系数在加载过程中变化相对较小。试验结果表明,相同孔隙比时原状土渗透系数要明显大于重塑土。这是由于两者的组构不一样,即原状样的大颗粒和凝聚体间的大孔隙以及历史上形成的土颗粒的排列使其渗流通道要比重塑土通畅。用相同重塑方式制样得到的不同含水量土样,其渗透系数值相近;而用不同重塑方式制样得到的相近含水量土样,其渗透系数相差相对较大。确定饱和软粘土渗透性时要考虑孔隙比和组构的影响。  相似文献

The Buchan Formation sandstone reservoirs from the Ardmore Field in the UK Central North Sea are fluvial-aeolian deposits and provide examples of porosity preservation in deeply-buried reservoirs (2.7–3.2?km) caused by grain-coating illite/smectite (I/S). Here, high reservoir quality commonly correlates with the occurrence of grain-coating I/S and consequent inhibition of quartz cementation in the aeolian dune and interdune sandstones. Porosity is lower in fluvial sandstones lacking grain coating I/S but with intense quartz overgrowths. We propose that the presence of I/S reflects concentration of the smectitic-rich clay bearing water which would have been the deposits of the interdune and/or distal sector of fluvial distributary system, and were introduced into aeolian deposits by mechanical infiltration. Petrographic relationships indicate that these coatings grew mainly before the mechanical compaction as the clays occur at grain contacts. The use of empirical model suggested that about 6–7% porosity have been preserved. The burial-thermal history of the Ardmore area contributed to the high quality reservoir because throughout much of the time since deposition, the Devonian sandstones have been little buried. Only from the Palaeogene the reservoir temperatures exceeded about 70?°C and rapidly buried to today’s maximum depth, which have minimized the negative effect generally ascribed to smectitic clays on reservoir quality. The circumstances of porosity preservation shown in this study may be unusual, but nonetheless have profound consequences for exploration. It is possible to identify new Buchan Formation prospects in areas hitherto dismissed because they were generally assumed to be poor reservoir.  相似文献

Results of the microscopic study of sandy rocks from the Bugrovaya and lower Khvalynian sequences at the lower course of the Volga River are discussed. The terrigenous material of these deposits represents a mixture of clasts of two types: argillic (clayey) and nonargillic. The argillic component (clasts of chocolate clays) predominates in the clastic material and imparts the brownish red color to sands and sandstones of the Bugrovaya sequence. The nonargillic component includes fragments of crystals and rocks, the assemblage of which is similar to the clastic material of the underlying Khvalynian sand. The combination of clay clasts, which are not prone to long-range transport, with redeposited crystallo-and lithoclasts indicates the presence of different provenances. Their thin banding (lamination) related to differentiation of the clastic material by composition and grain size and the presence of glauconite grains testify to the aqueous origin of the Bugrovaya sequence.  相似文献

三塘湖盆地牛东区块石炭系卡拉岗组火山岩中发育的示顶底构造,类同于碳酸盐岩发育的示顶底构造。该火山岩中的示顶底构造主要发育于火山岩的气孔及自碎缝中,其下部主要为渗滤泥沉积,上部常为结晶的钠沸石或其它自生矿物,二者之间界面平直。同时在火山岩示顶底构造发育部位杏仁体常具溶蚀特征。分析表明,火山岩中示顶底构造的特征及成因与渗流带的淋滤作用有关。示顶底构造发育部位杏仁体溶蚀孔的发育及气孔中未完全充填的剩余孔隙极大地改善了火山岩的储集性能。火山岩中示顶底构造的发现对火山岩岩层的顶底识别、火山岩岩相的划分及油气勘探具有重要的意义。  相似文献

The soils of the Ionian coastal zone, except those in proximity to Taranto where overconsolidated clays outcrop, are not currently well known from the perspective of their physical characteristics and mechanical behaviour. This note report a series of data from laboratory and on site tests (SPT and CPT) that have made it possible to undertake interesting quantitative comparisons as well as verifying some correlations proposed in the literature. The results show how to deal with, at least for more obviously sandy soils, medium and/or high density sands, to which can be attributed friction angles even of the order of 40° and greater, while the soils nearer the surface show notable variability related to the presence of soils with finer grain size distribution.  相似文献

The major element geochemistry of a mudstone sequence of Westphalian age has been studied in detail and mineralogical distributions calculated. Quartz and zircon trends indicate the energy of the depositional environment and this is closely reflected in the clay mineralogical composition. Of the detrital clays kaolinite is concentrated in the finer-grained sediments relative to illite. Chlorite and interstratified illite-smectite probably underwent diagenetic modification and small amounts of authigenic clays may have formed.Siderite, which occurs in both concretionary and disseminated form, and pyrite developed during diagenesis under reducing conditions and account for most of the iron present. Pyrite grew first deriving its iron partly from detrital clays. Carbon isotopic evidence suggests that early siderite precipitated in pore space as nodules and later in dispersed form. A second concretionary phase, pistomesite, grew during late dewatering. Siderite iron was derived mainly from Mn-rich oxidate phases.Titanium occurs as anatase uniformly distributed through the sequence. Phosphorus is mainly in diagenetic apatite and the sodiumpotassium ratio is controlled by the micas. Adsorbed water is closely related to grain size and clay content.  相似文献

Three processes of water escape characterize the consolidation of silt-, sand-and gravel-sized sediments. Seepage involves the slow upward movement of pore fluids within existing voids or rapid flow within compact and confined sediments. Liquefaction is marked by the sudden breakdown of a metastable, loosely packed grain framework, the grains becoming temporarily suspended in the pore fluid and settling rapidly through the fluid until a grain-supported structure is re-established. Fluidization occurs when the drag exerted by moving pore fluids exceeds the effective weight of the grains; the particles are lifted, the grain framework destroyed, and the sediment strength reduced to nearly zero. Diagenetic sedimentary structures formed in direct response to processes of fluid escape are here termed water escape structures. Four main types of water escape structures form during the fluidization and liquefaction of sands: (1) soft-sediment mixing bodies, (2) soft-sedimsnt intrusions, (3) consolidation laminations, and (4) soft-sediment folds. These structures represent both the direct rearrangement of sediment grains by escaping fluids and the deformation of hydroplastic, liquefied, or fluidized sediment in response to external stresses. Fundamental controls on sediment consolidation are exerted by the bulk sediment properties of grain size, packing, permeability, and strength, which together determine whether consolidation will occur and, if so the course it follows, and by external disturbances which act to trigger liquefaction and fluidization. The liquefaction and fluidization of natural sands usually accompanies the collapse of loosely packed cross-bedded deposits. This collapse is commonly initiated by water forced into the units as underlying beds, especially muds and clays, consolidate. The consolidation of subjacent units is often triggered by the rapid deposition of the sand itself, although earthquakes or other disturbances are probably influential in some instances. Water escape structures most commonly form in fine- to medium-grained sands deposited at high instantaneous and mean sedimentation rates; they are particularly abundant in cross-laminated deposits but rare in units deposited under upper flow regime plane bed conditions. Their development is favoured by upward decreasing permeability within sedimentation units such as normally graded turbidites. They are especially common in sequences made up of alternating fine-(clay and mud) and coarse-grained (sand) units such as deep-sea flysch prodelta, and, to a lesser extent, fluvial point bar, levee, and proximal overbank deposits.  相似文献

Quantitative appraisal of compaction strain is essential for the study of the burial history of shales in sedimentary basins. The results of a preliminary fabric analysis of Westphalian and Zechstein shales in the Campine Basin (Belgium) show that clay fabric analysis, using an X-ray pole figure goniometer, is suitable for this purpose. Clay fabrics, in the range studied, are independent of depth and therefore cannot be used as depth indicators. This suggests that in the early stages of the burial history a stable clay fabric has to develop, which will basically remain unchanged during the subsequent burial history. The degree of clay particle preferred orientation not only reflects the compaction strain, but is also determined by mineralogical parameters: the presence of non-platy particles and the relative concentrations of the different clay minerals. This degree of preferred orientation furthermore determines the degree of fissility of the shales. These mineralogical factors limit the use of clay fabrics as truly quantitative strain markers. Their use as semi-quantitative strain markers remains advantageous, mainly because of the common occurrence of clay fabrics in the geological record. Moreover, the relative ease of measurement and the possibility of distinguishing compaction from tectonic strains favour the use of clay fabrics in the quantitative strain analysis of argillaceous rocks.  相似文献

针对干湿循环作用下填埋场封场覆盖系统压实黏土防渗结构损伤等问题,系统开展了干湿循环作用下(室内模拟填埋场气候环境)压实黏土力学特性及微观结构特征试验研究,从微观层次揭示了压实黏土在干湿循环作用下变形特性和强度衰减内在本质。研究结果表明:随着干湿循环次数的增加,压实黏土初始变形段区间割线模量增加,末段区间割线模量大幅度降低,变化幅度随初始压实度的增加而增加;同时,压实黏土剪切强度呈减小趋势,但减小幅度随初始压实度和围压的增加而减小。经过3次干湿循环后,压实黏土发生不可逆的体积收缩,体积收缩比例随压实度的增加而减小,低压实黏土和高压实黏土的体积收缩20.5%和11.5%。同时,低压实黏土和高压实黏土的大孔体积增加25.7%和53.9%,微裂隙体积增加3.1%和41.7%,增加幅度随初始压实度的增加而增加。压实黏土不可逆的体积收缩致使土体更加密实,从而导致压实黏土初始切线模量和强度增加。同时,大孔体积增多和微裂隙的发育,导致压实黏土剪切强度和末端切线模量降低,干湿循环对不同压实度黏土力学特性影响是二者的综合表现。  相似文献

Expansive clays are widely prevalent all over the world as one of the most problematic soils. These soils undergo significant volume change with a change in the moisture regime, thereby posing problems to the stability of the structures founded on such strata. Efforts have been made to model the erratic behaviour of these soils at the macro, micro, and, to a lesser extent, nano levels. Micro and nano level fabrics, believed to have a central role in the overall behaviour of expansive clays, are only partially considered in the modelling concepts; natural clay fabrics with multiple clay minerals, silt and sand inclusions, micro fissures, cementation, overconsolidation, induration and other such features have never been considered. This paper covers a review of deficiencies in the existing constitutive models for the expansive characteristics of the natural clayey soils at macro, micro and nano levels. These shortcomings are discussed in the light of the understanding of the fundamentals including fabric and structure controlling the swelling mechanism of the expansive clayey soils at the molecular level. Finally, a framework based on authors’ work to incorporate molecular level behaviour in the constitutive modelling of expansive clays is presented.  相似文献

针对由深层搅拌法或高压旋喷法施工的水泥土混合桩周围土体的扰动与强度恢复的问题,采用两种常用的施工法:高压旋喷混合法(简称旋喷法)和水泥浆搅拌混合法(简称湿法),在日本有明黏土中施工以观测周围土体力学特性的变化。测试结果表明,水泥土混合桩周围土体的扰动程度与其施工方法有关;两种不同施工方法施工后周围土体的当日强度与原状土的强度之比分别是0.42(旋喷法)和0.68(湿法),施工30 d后,旋喷法有44 %,湿法有40 %的初始强度得到恢复。结果亦表明周围土体模量恢复要慢于强度恢复的速度。  相似文献

罗布泊西湖属开阔湖盆,上世纪30年代其面积达1900km2,但湖心剖面粒度分析的结果表明,其粒度组成与一般开阔湖盆有着显著的不同:沉积物常具黄色与灰色互层结构,层理清晰,黄色层的粒度组成中常含较多粗颗粒砂,灰与黄色层的混合样是以粉砂黏土为主,同时含有一定量的中、细砂,甚至粗砂。根据与风成砂和尘暴沉积的粒度组成对比,可知这种沉积特征与现代尘暴沉积有很大的相似性,因而表明风尘是罗布泊沉积的重要物源,并可据此来恢复10000a以来本区尘暴作用的强弱变化。  相似文献
