According to the compositions of the underground gasfield brines in the west of Sichuan Basin, the phase equilibria in the ternary systems KBr-K2B4O7-H2O and KCl-K2B4O7-H2O at 373 K were studied using the isothermal dissolution equilibrium method. The solubilities of salts and the densities of saturated solutions in these ternary systems were determined.Using the experimental data, phase diagrams and density-composition diagrams were constructed. The two phase diagrams were simple co-saturation type, each having an invariant point, two univariant curves and two crystallization regions. The equilibrium solid phases in the ternary system KBr-K2B4O7-H2O are potassium bromide (KBr) and potassium tetraborate tetrahydrate (K2B4O7·4H2O),and those in the ternary system KCl-K2B4O7-H2O are potassium chloride (KCl) and potassium tetraborate tetrahydrate (K2B4O7·4H2O).Comparisons of the phase diagrams of the two systems at different temperatures show that there is no change in the crystallization phases, but there are changes in the size of the crystallization regions. As temperature increases, the solubility of K2B4O7·4H2O increases rapidly,so the crystallization field of K2B4O7·4H2O becomes smaller.  相似文献

The water-pressure and temperature stability fields of clinohumite-OH, chondrodite-OH and phase A were determined in reversed equilibrium experiments up to 100 kbar within the system MgO–SiO2–H2O. Their PT-fields differ from results from former synthesis experiments. Bracketing experiments on the reaction phase A + low P-clinoenstatite ⇆ forsterite + water resulted in a slightly steeper dP/dT-slope compared to earlier experiments for this equilibrium. Clinohumite-OH and chondrodite-OH both have large stability fields which extend over pressure ranges of more than 80 kbar. However, they are hardly relevant as hydrous minerals within the subducted oceanic lithosphere. Both are too Mg-rich for a typical mantle bulk composition. In addition, the dehydration of subducted oceanic lithosphere – due to (forsterite + water)-forming reactions – will occur before the two humite-group phases even become stable. Restricted to the cool region of cold subducting slabs, phase A, however, might be formed via the reactions phase A + low P-/high P-clinoenstatite ⇆ forsterite + water or antigorite + brucite ⇆ phase A + water, before dehydration of the oceanic lithosphere occurs. We have performed a series of interdiffusion experiments on magnesiowüstite samples at room pressure, temperatures from 1,320° to 1,400°C, and oxygen fugacities from 10?1.0 Pa to 10?4.3 Pa, using mixed CO/CO2 or H2/CO2 gases. The interdiffusion couples were composed of a single-crystal of MgO lightly pressed against a single-crystal of (Mg1-x Fe x )1-δO with 0.07<x<0.27. The interdiffusion coefficient was calculated using the Boltzmann–Matano analysis as a function of iron content, oxygen fugacity, temperature, and water fugacity. For the entire range of conditions tested and for compositions with 0.01<x<0.27, the interdiffusion coefficient varies as $$\tilde D\, =\,2.9\times10^{ - 6}\,f_{{\text{O}}_2 }^{0.19}\,x^{0.73}\,{\text{e}}^{ - (209,000\, -\,96,000\,x)/RT}\,\,{\text{m}}^{\text{2}} {\text{s}}^{ -1} $$ These dependencies on oxygen fugacity and composition are reasonably consistent with interdiffusion mediated by unassociated cation vacancies. For the limited range of water activity that could be investigated using mixed gases at room pressure, no effect of water on interdiffusion could be observed. The dependence of the interdiffusion coefficient on iron content decreased with increasing iron concentration at constant oxygen fugacity and temperature. There is a close agreement between our activation energy for interdiffusion extrapolated to zero iron content (x=0) and that of previous researchers who used electrical conductivity experiments to determine vacancy diffusivities in lightly doped MgO.  相似文献

Experiments on water solubility in forsterite in the systems Mg2SiO4–K2Mg(CO3)2–H2O and Mg2SiO4–H2O–C were conducted at 7.5–14.0 GPa and 1200–1600 °C. The resulting crystals contain 448 to 1480 ppm water, which is 40–70% less than in the forsterite–water system under the same conditions. This can be attributed to lower water activity in the carbonate-bearing melt. The water content of forsterite was found to vary systematically with temperature and pressure. For instance, at 14 GPa in the system forsterite–carbonate–H2O the H2O content of forsterite drops from 1140 ppm at 1200 °C to 450 ppm at 1600 °C, and at 8 GPa it remains constant or increases from 550 to 870 ppm at 1300–1600 °C. Preliminary data for D-H-bearing forsterite are reported. Considerable differences were found between IR spectra of D-H- and H-bearing forsterite. The results suggest that CO2 can significantly affect the width of the olivine-wadsleyite transition, i.e., the 410-km seismic discontinuity, which is a function of the water content of olivine and wadsleyite.  相似文献

The incorporation of hydrogen in enstatite in a hydrous system containing various amounts of NaCl was investigated at 25 kbar. The hydrogen content in enstatite shows a clear negative correlation to the NaCl-concentration in the system. The most favourable explanation is the reduction of water fugacity due to dilution. Other reasons for the limited hydrogen incorporation at high NaCl levels, such as a significant influence of Na+ on the defect chemistry or an exchange between OH- and Clin enstatite, appear much less important. A partition coefficient D Na En/Fluid = 0.0013 could be determined, demonstrating that Na is less incompatible in enstatite than H. The new results support the idea that dissolved components have to be considered when the total hydrogen storage capacity in nominally anhydrous minerals is estimated, especially in geological settings with high levels of halogens, such as subduction zones.  相似文献

The solubility of ettringite (Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(SO4)3 · 26H2O) was measured in a series of dissolution and precipitation experiments at 5–75°C and at pH between 10.5 and 13.0 using synthesized material. Equilibrium was established within 4 to 6 days, with samples collected between 10 and 36 days. The log KSP for the reaction Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(SO4)3 · 26H2O ⇌ 6Ca2+ + 2Al(OH)4 + 3SO42− + 4OH + 26H2O at 25°C calculated for dissolution experiments (−45.0 ± 0.2) is not significantly different from the log KSP calculated for precipitation experiments (−44.8 ± 0.4) at the 95% confidence level. There is no apparent trend in log KSP with pH and the mean log KSP,298 is −44.9 ± 0.3. The solubility product decreased linearly with the inverse of temperature indicating a constant enthalpy of reaction from 5 to 75°C. The enthalpy and entropy of reaction ΔH°r and ΔS°r, were determined from the linear regression to be 204.6 ± 0.6 kJ mol−1 and 170 ± 38 J mol−1 K−1. Using our values for log KSP, ΔH°r, and ΔS°r and published partial molal quantities for the constituent ions, we calculated the free energy of formation ΔG°f,298, the enthalpy of formation ΔH°f,298, and the entropy of formation ΔS°f,298 to be −15211 ± 20, −17550 ± 16 kJ mol−1, and 1867 ± 59 J mol−1 K−1. Assuming ΔCP,r is zero, the heat capacity of ettringite is 590 ± 140 J mol−1 K−1.  相似文献

The thermal stability of sideronatrite, ideally Na2Fe3+(SO4)2(OH)·3(H2O), and its decomposition products were investigated by combining thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis, in situ high-temperature X-ray powder diffraction (HT-XRPD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (HT-FTIR). The data show that for increasing temperature there are four main dehydration/transformation steps in sideronatrite: (a) between 30 and 40 °C sideronatrite transforms into metasideronatrite after the loss of two water molecules; both XRD and FTIR suggest that this transformation occurs via minor adjustments in the building block. (b) between 120 and 300 °C metasideronatrite transforms into metasideronatrite II, a still poorly characterized phase with possible orthorhombic symmetry, consequently to the loss of an additional water molecule; X-ray diffraction data suggest that metasideronatrite disappears from the assemblage above 175 °C. (c) between 315 and 415 °C metasideronatrite II transforms into the anhydrous Na3Fe(SO4)3 compound. This step occurs via the loss of hydroxyl groups that involves the breakdown of the [Fe3+(SO4)2(OH)] 2? chains and the formation of an intermediate transient amorphous phase precursor of Na3Fe(SO4)3. (d) for T > 500 °C, the Na3Fe(SO4)3 compound is replaced by the Na-sulfate thenardite, Na2SO4, plus Fe-oxides, according to the Na3Fe3+(SO4)3 → 3/2 Na2(SO4) + 1/2 Fe2O3 + SOx reaction products. The Na–Fe sulfate disappears around 540 °C. For higher temperatures, the Na-sulfates decomposes and only hematite survives in the final product. The understanding of the thermal behavior of minerals such as sideronatrite and related sulfates is important both from an environmental point of view, due to the presence of these phases in evaporitic deposits, soils and sediments including extraterrestrial occurrences, and from the technological point of view, due to the use of these materials in many industrial applications.  相似文献

Observations by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of the submicrometer phases present in calcium aluminate cements have shown that Ca-Al-Fe oxides coexist in two forms with brownmillerite (b) and perovskite (p) structures, respectively. Homogeneous single crystals of both brownmillerite and perovskite have been observed but exsolved lamellae also occur on the scale of tens of nanometers. Perovskite lamellae in brownmillerite exhibit coherent interfaces with an almost perfect [1 0 1]b = {1 0 0}p topotactic relationship. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS) measurements show that perovskite lamellae are enriched in Ti and Si relative to the brownmillerite lamellae. The perovskite phase may accommodate up to 0.17 Si atoms per formula unit, but the exsolution process seems mainly to concern the Ti content. It is estimated that the solvus width ranges between concentrations of 0.06 < Ti < 0.13 atoms per formula unit. O K and Fe L 2,3 edges collected by electron energy loss spectrometry (EELS) confirm that both phases are mainly composed of Fe3+, requiring that the perovskite is highly oxygen-deficient. Al K and Si K EELS spectra have features comparable with those of fourfold-co-ordinated Al and Si sites, suggesting that they are probably located close to oxygen-vacant sites. The structural behavior under pressure of three lanthanide pyrochlore zirconates Ln2Zr2O7 (Ln3+ = Ce, Nd and Gd) has been investigated by X-ray diffraction up to 50 GPa. For all three compounds, a symmetry reduction from cubic to monoclinic is observed under increasing pressure dependant on a pressure value that increases with the ionic radius of the lanthanide ions, r Ln. The cubic and monoclinic phases coexist over a wide pressure range which increases with r Ln. The zero-pressure bulk modulus of the cubic phase, B 0, and its pressure derivative, B 0′, have been determined by fitting the experimental compressibility curves to the Birch–Murnaghan equation of state.  相似文献

Experiments ranging from 2 to 3 GPa and 800 to 1300 °C and at 0.15 GPa and 770 °C were performed to investigate the stability and mutual solubility of the K2ZrSi3O9 (wadeite) and K2TiSi3O9 cyclosilicates under upper mantle conditions. The K2ZrSi3O9–K2TiSi3O9 join exhibits complete miscibility in the P–T interval investigated. With increasing degree of melting the solid solution becomes progressively enriched in Zr, indicating that K2ZrSi3O9 is the more refractory end member. At 2 GPa, in the more complex K2ZrSi3O9–K2TiSi3O9–K2Mg6Al2Si6O20(OH)4 system, the presence of phlogopite clearly limits the extent of solid solution of the cyclosilicate to more Zr-rich compositions [Zr/(Zr + Ti) > 0.85], comparable to wadeite found in nature, with TiO2 partitioning strongly into the coexisting mica and/or liquid. However, at 1200 °C, with increasing pressure from 2 to 3 GPa, the partitioning behaviour of TiO2 changes in favour of the cyclosilicate, with Zr/(Zr + Ti) of the K2(Zr,Ti)Si3O9 phase decreasing from ∼0.9 to ∼0.6. The variation in the Ti content of the coexisting phlogopite is related to its degree of melting to forsterite and liquid, following the major substitution VITi+VI□=2VIMg. The heat capacity of åkermanite solid solutions was measured by a small scale adiabatic calorimeter near the incommensurate-normal (I-N) transition. The heat capacity anomalies caused by the I-N transition show the type characteristic behavior implying the presence of dynamical fluctuations. The heat capacity anomalies were observed over the whole range of the åkermanite solid solutions Ca2Mg1-xCoxSi2O7 and Ca2Mg1-x-ZnxSi2O2. With increase of Co or Zn atoms, the transition temperature, Ti, rises linearly from ca. 83° C to 220° C and to 130° C, respectively. In the system Ca2CoSi2O7-Ca2FeSi2O7 and Ca2MgSi2O7-Ca2-FeSi2O7 electronic microscopy revealed that the temperature of the heat capacity anomaly decreases with increasing Fe content, whereas the Ti rises. This unusual behavior is ascribed to the microdomains observed in high resolution lattice images.  相似文献

The pseudo-binary system Mg3Al2Si3O12–Na2MgSi5O12 modelling the sodium-bearing garnet solid solutions has been studied at 7 and 8.5 GPa and 1,500–1,950°C. The Na-bearing garnet is a liquidus phase of the system up to 60 mol% Na2MgSi5O12 (NaGrt). At higher content of NaGrt in the system, enstatite (up to ∼80 mol%) and then coesite are observed as liquidus phases. Our experiments provided evidence for a stable sodium incorporation in garnet (0.3–0.6 wt% Na2O) and its control by temperature and pressure. The highest sodium contents were obtained in experiments at P = 8.5 GPa. Near the liquidus (T = 1,840°C), the equilibrium concentration of Na2O in garnet is 0.7–0.8 wt% (∼6 mol% Na2MgSi5O12). With the temperature decrease, Na concentration in Grt increases, and the maximal Na2MgSi5O12 content of ∼12 mol% (1.52 wt% Na2O) is gained at the solidus of the system (T = 1,760°С). The data obtained show that most of natural diamonds, with inclusions of Na-bearing garnets usually containing <0.4 wt% Na2O, could be formed from sodium-rich melts at pressures lower than 7 GPa. Majoritic garnets with higher sodium concentrations (>1 wt% Na2O) may crystallize at a pressure range of 7.0–8.5 GPa. However the upper pressure limit for the formation of naturally occurring Na-bearing garnets is restricted by the eclogite/garnetite bulk composition.  相似文献

The solubility of water in coexisting enstatite and forsterite was investigated by simultaneously synthesizing the two phases in a series of high pressure and temperature piston cylinder experiments. Experiments were performed at 1.0 and 2.0 GPa at temperatures between 1,100 and 1,420°C. Integrated OH absorbances were determined using polarized infrared spectroscopy on orientated single crystals of each phase. Phase water contents were estimated using the calibration of Libowitzky and Rossman (Am Mineral 82:1111–1115, 1997). Enstatite crystals, synthesized in equilibrium with forsterite and an aqueous phase at 1,350°C and 2.0 GPa, contain 114 ppm H2O. This is reduced to 59 ppm at 1,100°C, under otherwise identical conditions, suggesting a strong temperature dependence. At 1,350°C and 1.0 GPa water solubility in enstatite is 89 ppm, significantly lower than that at 2.0 GPa. In contrast water solubility in forsterite is essentially constant, being in the range 36–41 ppm for all conditions studied. These data give partition coefficients in the range 2.28–3.31 for all experiments at 1,350°C and 1.34 for one experiment at 1,100°C. The incorporation of Al2O3 in enstatite modifies the OH stretching spectrum in a systematic way, and slightly increases the water solubility.  相似文献

Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(CrO4)3·26H2O, the chromate analog of the sulfate mineral ettringite, was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analyses, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry, and bulk chemical analyses. The solubility of the synthesized solid was measured in a series of dissolution and precipitation experiments conducted at 5–75°C and at initial pH values between 10.5 and 12.5. The ion activity product (IAP) for the reaction Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(CrO4)3·26H2O⇌6Ca2++2Al(OH)4+3CrO2−4+4OH+26H2O varies with pH unless a CaCrO4(aq) complex is included in the speciation model. The log K for the formation of this complex by the reaction Ca2++CrO2−4=CaCrO4(aq) was obtained by minimizing the variance in the IAP for Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(CrO4)3·26H2O. There is no significant trend in the formation constant with temperature and the average log K is 2.77±0.16 over the temperature range 5–75°C. The log solubility product (log KSP) of Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(CrO4)3·26H2O at 25°C is −41.46±0.30. The temperature dependence of the log KSP is log KSP=AB/T+D log(T) where A=498.94±48.99, B=27,499±2257, and D=−181.11±16.74. The values of ΔG0r,298 and ΔH0r,298 for the dissolution reaction are 236.6±3.9 and 77.5±2.4 kJ mol−1. the values of ΔC0P,r,298 and ΔS0r,298 are −1506±140 and −534±83 J mol−1 K−1. Using these values and published standard state partial molal quantities for constituent ions, ΔG0f,298=−15,131±19 kJ mol−1, ΔH0f,298=−17,330±8.6 kJ mol−1, ΔS0298=2.19±0.10 kJ mol−1 K−1, and ΔC0Pf,298=2.12±0.53 kJ mol−1 K−1, were calculated.  相似文献
