Evolutionary tracks from the zero age main sequence to the asymptotic giant branch were computed for stars with initial masses 2 M M ZAMS ≤ 5 M and metallicity Z = 0.02. Some models of evolutionary sequences were used as initial conditions for equations of radiation hydrodynamics and turbulent convection describing radial stellar pulsations. The early asymptotic giant branch stars are shown to pulsate in the fundamental mode with periods 30 day ? Π ? 400day. The rate of period change gradually increases as the star evolves but is too small to be detected (Π?/Π < 10?5 yr?1). Pulsation properties of thermally pulsing AGB stars are investigated on time intervals comprising 17 thermal pulses for evolutionary sequences with initial masses M ZAMS = 2 M and 3 M and 6 thermal pulses for M ZAMS = 4 M and 5 M . Stars with initial masses M ZAMS ≤ 3 M pulsate either in the fundamental mode or in the first overtone, whereas more massive red giants (M ZAMS ≥ 4 M ) pulsate in the fundamental mode with periods Π ? 103 day. Most rapid pulsation period change with rate ?0.02 yr?1 ? Π?/Π ? ?0.01 yr?1 occurs during decrease of the surface luminosity after the maximum of the luminosity in the helium shell source. The rate of subsequent increase of the period is Π?/Π ? 5 × 10?3 yr?1.  相似文献

Based on data from the Two-Micrometer All-Sky Survey (2MASS), we analyzed the infrared properties of 451 Local-Volume galaxies at distances D ≤ 10 Mpc. We determined the K-band luminosity function of the galaxies in the range of absolute magnitudes from ?25m to ?11m. The local luminosity density within 8 Mpc is 6.8 × 108L Mpc?3, a factor of 1.5 ± 0.1 higher than the global mean K-band luminosity density. We determined the ratios of the virial mass to the K-band luminosity for nearby groups and clusters of galaxies. In the luminosity range from 5 × 1010 to 2 × 1013L, the dependence log(M/LK) ∝ (0.27 ± 0.03) log LK with a dispersion of ~0.1 comparable to the measurement errors of the masses and luminosities of the systems of galaxies holds for the groups and clusters of galaxies. The ensemble-averaged ratio, 〈M/LK〉 ? (20–25) M/L, was found to be much smaller than the expected global ratio, (80–90)M/L, in the standard model with Ωm = 0.27. This discrepancy can be eliminated if the bulk of the dark matter in the Universe is not associated with galaxies and their systems.  相似文献

We present the results of the study of the eclipsing polar CRTS CSS081231 J071126+440405. Photometric observations allowed us to refine the orbital period of the system \(P_ \circ = 0_ \cdot ^d 0.08137673\). Considerable changes in the appearance of the object’s spectra have occurred over the period of September 20–21, 2001: the slope of the continuum changed from “red” to “blue”, and the variability of the line profiles over the duration of the orbital period has also changed. Doppler maps have shown a shift of the emission line-forming region along the accretion stream closer to the white dwarf. We measured the duration of the eclipse of the system and imposed constraints on the inclination angle \(78_ \cdot ^ \circ 7 < i < 79_ \cdot ^ \circ 3\). The derived radial velocity amplitude was used to obtain the basic parameters of the system: M1 = 0.86 ± 0.08M, M2 = 0.18 ± 0.02 M, q = 0.21 ± 0.01, RL2 = 0.20 ± 0.03 R, A = 0.80 ± 0.03 R. The spectra of the object exhibit cyclotron harmonics. Their comparison with model spectra allowed us to determine the parameters of the accretion column: B = 31–34 MG, Te = 10–12 keV, θ = 80–90°, and Λ = 105.  相似文献

We present the results of our optical identifications of a set of X-ray sources from the INTEGRAL and SWIFT all-sky surveys. The optical data have been obtained with the 1.5-m Russian-Turkish Telescope (RTT-150). Nine X-ray sources have been identified with active galactic nuclei (AGNs). Two of them are located in the nearby spiral galaxies MCG-01-05-047 and NGC 973 seen almost edge-on. One source, IGR J16562-3301, is probably a BL Lac object (blazar). The remaining AGNs are observed as the starlike nuclei of spiral galaxies whose spectra exhibit broad emission lines. The relation between the hard X-ray (17–60 keV) luminosity and the [O III] 5007 line luminosity, log L x/L [O III] ≈ 2.1, holds good for most of the AGNs detected in hard X rays. However, the luminosities of some AGNs deviate from this relation. The fraction of such objects can reach ~20%. In particular, the [O III] line flux is lower for two nearby edge-on spiral galaxies. This can be explained by the effect of absorption in the galactic disks.  相似文献

We report the detection of series of close type I X-ray bursts consisting of two or three events with a recurrence time much shorter than the characteristic (at the observed mean accretion rate) time of matter accumulation needed for a thermonuclear explosion to be initiated on the neutron star surface during the JEM-X/INTEGRAL observations of several X-ray bursters. We show that such series of bursts are naturally explained in the model of a spreading layer of accreting matter over the neutron star surface in the case of a sufficiently high (? ? 1 × 10?9 M yr?1) accretion rate (corresponding to a mean luminosity L tot ? 1 × 1037erg s?1). The existence of triple bursts requires some refinement of the model—the importance of a central ring zone is shown. In the standard model of a spreading layer no infall of matter in this zone is believed to occur.  相似文献

We analyze the spectra of DR Tau in the wavelength range 1200 to 3100 Å obtained with the GHRS and STIS spectrographs from the Hubble Space Telescope. The profiles for the C IV 1550 and He II 1640 emission lines and for the absorption features of some lines indicate that matter falls to the star at a velocity ~300 km s?1. At the same time, absorption features were detected in the blue wings of the N I, Mg I, Fe II, Mg II, C II, and Si II lines, suggesting mass outflow at a velocity up to 400 km s?1. The C II, Si II, and Al II intercombination lines exhibit symmetric profiles whose peaks have the same radial velocity as the star. This is also true for the emission features of the Fe II and H2 lines. We believe that stellar activity is attributable to disk accretion of circumstellar matter, with matter reaching the star mainly through the disk and the boundary layer. At the time of observations, the accretion luminosity was Lac ? 2L at an accretion rate ?10?7M yr?1. Concurrently, a small (<10%) fraction of matter falls to the star along magnetospheric magnetic field lines from a height ~R*. Within a region of size ?3.5R*, the disk atmosphere has a thickness ~0.1R* and a temperature ?1.5 × 104 K. We assume that disk rotation in this region significantly differs from Keplerian rotation. The molecular hydrogen lines are formed in the disk at a distance <1.4 AU from the star. Accretion is accompanied by mass outflow from the accretion-disk surface. In a region of size <10R*, the wind gas has a temperature ~7000 K, but at the same time, almost all iron is singly ionized by H I L α photons from inner disk regions. Where the warm-wind velocity reaches ?400 km s?1, the gas moves at an angle of no less than 30° to the disk plane. We found no evidence of regions with a temperature above 104 K in the wind and leave open the question of whether there is outflow in the H2 line formation region. According to our estimate, the star has the following set of parameters: M* ? 0.9M, R* ? 1.8R, L* ? 0.9L, and \(A_V \simeq 0\mathop .\limits^m 9\). The inclination i of the disk axis to the line of sight cannot be very small; however, i≤60°.  相似文献

We study the variations of the properties of groups of galaxies with dynamical masses of 1013 M <M 200<1014 M , represented by two samples: one has redshifts of z < 0.027 and is located in the vicinity of the Coma cluster, the other has z > 0.027, and is located in the regions of the following superclusters of galaxies: Hercules, Leo, Bootes, Ursa Major, and Corona Borealis. Using the archived data of the SDSS and 2MASX catalogs, we determined the concentration of galaxies in the systems by measuring it as the inner density of the group within the distance of the fifth closest galaxy from the center brighter than M K = ?23. m 3. We also measured the magnitude gap between the first and the fourth brightest galaxies ΔM 14 located within one half of the selected radius R 200, the fraction of early-type galaxies, and the ratio of bright dwarf galaxies (Mr = [?18. m 5,?16. m 5]) to giant galaxies (M r < ?18. m 5) (DGR) within the radius R 200. The main aim of the investigation is to find among these characteristics the ones that reflect the evolution of groups of galaxies. We determined that the ratio of bright dwarf galaxies to early-type giant galaxies on the red sequence depends only on the x-ray luminosity: the DGR increases with luminosity. The fraction of early-type galaxies in the considered systems is equal, on average, to 0.65 ± 0.01, and varies significantly for galaxies with σ200 < 300 kms?1. Based on the luminosity of the brightest galaxy, the magnitude gap between the first and the fourth brightest galaxies in the groups, and on model computations of these parameters, we selected four fossil group candidates: AWM4, NGC0533, NGC0741, and NGC6098 (where the brightest galaxy is a double). We observe no increase in the number of faint galaxies (the α parameter of the Schechter function is less than 1) in our composite luminosity function (LF) for galaxy systems with z < 0.027 in the M K = [?26m,?21. m 5] range, whereas earlier we obtained α > 1 for the LF of the Hercules and Leo superclusters of galaxies.  相似文献

The “Big Trio” program is conducted at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SAO RAS) aiming to investigate a sample of sources with steep and ultra-steep spectra fromthe RCcatalog obtained on the basis of observational data of the “Cold” survey. The population of distant FRII type radio galaxies with steep spectra is of particular interest, since new data indicate the presence of black holes with masses of more than 109 M which already formed in these giant stellar systems in the first billion years of life of the Universe, as well as their connection with emerging clusters. There are three sources with z sp > 3 in the sample. According to the observations of the 6-m SAO RAS telescope, the archival data of Subaru and Spitzer, an increased density of objects and several Lyα-emitters have been detected near one of the most powerful radio galaxies, RCJ0311+0507 (4C+04.11) with z = 4.51, which is the second most distant of the known FRII-type galaxies. Another object— RCJ1740+0502 with z = 3.57, is a possible dual AGN candidate. The third source, RCJ0105+0501, is an FRII-type galaxy (z = 3.138) with a host galaxy of a complex structure, possibly generated by interaction in a close pair of galaxies. These radio sources have high radio luminosity (L 500MHz ≈ 1028–1029WHz?1), which requires the presence of a giant black hole with a sufficient accretion rate, and also with a rapid rotation, which in turn can be provided by major merging.  相似文献

We studied the intermediate polar TVCol during and after its flare in November 1982 observed in the ultraviolet range with the International Ultraviolet Explorer. Two spectra revealing the variations of emission lines at different times are presented. We have estimated a new value of the reddening from the 2200 Å absorption feature, E (B ? V ) = 0.12 ± 0.02, and calculated the line fluxes of C IV and He II emission lines produced in the outer accretion disk. The average ultraviolet luminosity of emitting region during and after the flare is approximately 4 × 1032 erg s?1 and 9 × 1030 erg s?1, the corresponding average mass accretion rate is nearly 3 × 1015 erg s?1 (4.76 × 10?11M yr?1) and 5 × 1013 erg s?1 (7.93 × 10?13M yr?1), and the average temperature of the emitting region during and after flare is estimated to be of about 3.5 × 103 K and 2 × 103 K. We attribute this flare to a sudden increase in the mass accretion rate leading to the outburst activity.  相似文献

We present the results of our hydrodynamic calculations of radial pulsations in helium stars with masses 1 MM ≤ 10 M, luminosity-to-mass ratios 1 × 103L/ML/M ≤ 2 × 104L/M, and effective temperatures 2 × 104 K ≤ Teff ≤ 105 K for mass fractions of helium Y=0.98 and heavy elements Z=0.02. We show that the lower boundary of the pulsation-instability region corresponds to L/M ~ 103L/M and that the instability region for L/M ? 5 × 103L/M is bounded by effective temperatures Teff ? 3 × 104 K. As the luminosity rises, the instability boundary moves into the left part of the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram and radial pulsations can arise in stars with effective temperatures Teff ? 105 K at L/M ? 7 × 103L/M. The velocity amplitude for the outer boundary of the hydrodynamic model increases with L/M and lies within the range 200 ? ΔU ? 700 km s?1 for the models under consideration. The periodic shock waves that accompany radial pulsations cause a significant change of the gas-density distribution in the stellar atmosphere, which is described by a dynamic scale height comparable to the stellar radius. The dynamic instability boundary that corresponds to the separation of the outer stellar atmospheric layers at a superparabolic velocity is roughly determined by a luminosity-to-mass ratio L/M ~ 3 × 104L/M.  相似文献

We consider an equation of state that leads to a first-order phase transition from the nucleon state to the quark state with a transition parameter λ>3/2 (λ=ρQ/(ρN+P0/c2)) in superdense nuclear matter. Our calculations of integrated parameters for superdense stars using this equation of state show that on the stable branch of the dependence of stellar mass on central pressure dM/dPc>0) in the range of low masses, a new local maximum with Mmax=0.082 and R=1251 km appears after the formation of a toothlike kink (M=0.08M, R=205 km) attributable to quark production. For such a star, the mass and radius of the quark core are Mcore=0.005M and Rcore=1.73 km, respectively. In the model under consideration, mass accretion can result in two successive transitions to a quark-core neutron star with energy release similar to a supernova explosion: initially, a low-mass star with a quark core is formed; the subsequent accretion leads to configurations with a radius of ~1000 km; and, finally, the second catastrophic restructuring gives rise to a star with a radius of ~100 km.  相似文献

Two quasars SDSS J010013.02+280225.8 and J030642.51+185315.8 with redshifts z = 6.30 and z = 5.363 were recently discovered. Their apparent magnitudes in the standard cosmological model give the luminosities of Lbol ~ 4.3 × 1014L and Lbol ~ 3.4 × 1014L. In the framework of modern concepts it is accepted that the energy release of quasars is provided by the accretion onto black holes with masses of 1.24 ± 0.19 × 1010M and 1.07 ± 0.27 × 1010M. As within the standard cosmological model the ages of these objects are about one billion years, this creates serious difficulties for the scenario of formation of such objects. Here we interpret the ultra-high luminosities of quasars as the effect of lensing of their radiation by the foreground globular clusters or dwarf galaxies.  相似文献

This paper reports the results of spectroscopic observations of UUCas obtained with the highresolution (R = 15 000) fiber-fed echelle spectrometer of the 1.2-m telescope of Kourovka Astronomical Observatory of Ural Federal University. The radial velocities of the secondary, more massive and fainter component are measured for the first time. The component mass ratio is found to be q = M 1/M 2 = 0.54. The component masses, M 1 = 9.5M and M 2 = 17.7M , and the radius of the or bit, A = 52.7R , are computed for the published orbital inclination of i ~ 69°. Evidence is presented for a disk surrounding the more massive component and a common expanding envelope.  相似文献

We performed hydrodynamic computations of nonlinear stellar pulsations of population I stars at the evolutionary stages of the ascending red giant branch and the following luminosity drop due to the core helium flash. Red giants populating this region of the Hertzsprung–Russel diagram were found to be the fundamental mode pulsators. The pulsation period is the largest at the tip of the red giant branch and for stars with initial masses from 1.1 M to 1.9 M ranges from ∏ ≈ 254 day to ∏ ≈ 33 day , respectively. The rate of period change during the core helium flash is comparable with rates of secular period change in Mira type variables during the thermal pulse in the helium shell source. The period change rate is largest (∏?/∏ ≈ ?10?2 yr?1) in stars with initial mass M ZAMS = 1.1 M and decreases to ∏?/∏ ~ ?10?3 yr?1 for stars of the evolutionary sequence M ZAMS = 1.9 M . Theoretical light curves of red giants pulsating with periods ∏ > 200 day show the presence of the secondary maximum similar to that observed in many Miras.  相似文献

We present the results of our study of the X-ray spectrum for the source X-6 in the nearby galaxy M33 obtained for the first time at energies above 10 keV from the data of the NuSTAR orbital telescope. The archival Swift–XRT data for energy coverage below 3 keV have been used, which has allowed the spectrum of M33 X-6 to be constructed in the wide energy range 0.3–20 keV. The spectrum of the source is well described by the model of an optically and geometrically thick accretion disk with a maximum temperature of ~2 keV and an inner radius of ~5 cos?1/2θ km (where >θ is the unknown disk inclination angle with respect to the observer). There is also evidence for the presence of an additional hard component in the spectrum. The X-ray luminosity ofM33 X-6 measured for the first time in the wide energy range 0.3–20 keV is ~2 × 1038 erg s?1, with the luminosity in the hard 10–20 keV X-ray band being ~10% of the source’s total luminosity. The results obtained suggest that X-6 may be a Z-source, i.e., an X-ray binary with subcritical accretion onto a weakly magnetized neutron star.  相似文献

We study relation between stellar mass and halo mass for high-mass halos using a sample of galaxy clusters with accurate measurements of stellar masses from optical and ifrared data and total masses from X-ray observations. We find that stellar mass of the brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) scales as M*,BCG ∝ M 500 αBCG with the best fit slope of αBCG ≈ 0.4 ± 0.1. We measure scatter of M*,BCG at a fixed M500 of ≈0.2 dex. We show that stellar mass-halo mass relations from abundance matching or halo modelling reported in recent studies underestimate masses of BCGs by a factor of ~2?4. We argue that this is because these studies used stellar mass functions (SMF) based on photometry that severely underestimates the outer surface brightness profiles of massive galaxies. We show that M*?M relation derived using abundance matching with the recent SMF calibration by Bernardi et al. (2013) based on improved photometry is in a much better agreement with the relation we derive via direct calibration for observed clusters. The total stellar mass of galaxies correlates with total mass M500 with the slope of ≈0.6 ± 0.1 and scatter of 0.1 dex. This indicates that efficiency with which baryons are converted into stars decreases with increasing cluster mass. The low scatter is due to large contribution of satellite galaxies: the stellar mass in satellite galaxies correlates with M500 with scatter of ≈0.1 dex and best fit slope of αsat ≈ 0.8 ± 0.1. We show that for a fixed choice of the initial mass function (IMF) total stellar fraction in clusters is only a factor of 3?5 lower than the peak stellar fraction reached in M ≈ 1012M halos. The difference is only a factor of ~1.5?3 if the IMF becomes progressively more bottom heavy with increasing mass in early type galaxies, as indicated by recent observational analyses. This means that the overall efficiency of star formation in massive halos is only moderately suppressed compared to L* galaxies and is considerably less suppressed than previously thought. The larger normalization and slope of the M*?M relation derived in this study shows that feedback and associated suppression of star formation in massive halos should be weaker than assumed in most of the current semi-analytic models and simulations.  相似文献

Stellar evolution calculations were carried out from the main sequence to the final stage of the asymptotic giant branch for stars with initial masses 1 MMZAMS ≤ 2 M and metallicity Z = 0.01. Selected models of evolutionary sequences were used as initial conditions for solution of the equations of radiation hydrodynamics and time–dependent convection describing radial stellar pulsations. The study was aimed to construct the hydrodynamic models of Mira–type stars that show the secular decrease in the pulsation period Π commenced in 1970th at Π = 315 day. We show that such a condition for the period change is satisfied with evolutionary sequences 1 MMZAMS ≤ 1.2 M and the best agreement with observations is obtained for MZAMS = 1.2 M. The pulsation period reduction is due to both the stellar radius decrease during the thermal pulse of the helium burning shell and mode switch from the fundamental mode to the first overtone. Theoretical estimates of the fundament parameters of the star at the onset of pulsation period reduction are as follows: the mass is M = 0.93 M, the luminosity is L = 4080 L, and the radius is R = 220 R. The mode switch occurs 35 years after the onset of period reduction.  相似文献

Using a reliablymeasured intrinsic (i.e., corrected for absorption effects) present-day luminosity function of high-mass X-ray binaries (HMXBs) in the 0.25–2 keV energy band per unit star formation rate, we estimate the preheating of the early Universe by soft X-rays from such systems. We find that X-ray irradiation, mainly executed by ultraluminous and supersoft ultraluminous X-ray sources with luminosity L X > 1039 erg s?1, could significantly heat (T >T CMB, where T CMB is the temperature of the cosmic microwave background) the intergalactic medium by z ~ 10 if the specific X-ray emissivity of the young stellar population in the early Universe was an order of magnitude higher than at the present epoch (which is possible due to the low metallicity of the first galaxies) and the soft X-ray emission from HMXBs did not suffer strong absorption within their galaxies. This makes it possible to observe the 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen in emission from redshifts z < 10.  相似文献

We have performed hydrodynamic calculations of the radial pulsations of helium stars with masses 10MM ≤ 50M, luminosity-to-mass ratios 5 × 103L/ML/M ≤ 2.5 × 104L/M, and effective temperatures 2 × 104 K ≤ Teff ≤ 105 K for helium and heavy-element mass fractions of Y=0.98 and Z=0.02, respectively. We show that the high-temperature boundary of the instability region for radial pulsations at L/M ? 104L/M extends to Teff≈105 K. The amplitude of the velocity variations for outer layers is several hundred km s?1, while the brightness variations in the B band of the UBV photometric system are within the range from several hundredths to half a magnitude. At constant luminosity-to-mass ratio, the radial pulsation period is determined only by the effective temperature of the star. In the ranges of luminosity-to-mass ratios 104L/ML/M ≤ 2 × 104L/M and effective temperatures 5 × 104 K ≤ Teff ≤ 9 × 104 K, the periods of the radial modes are within 6 min ?Π?103 min.  相似文献

Based on high-resolution spectra taken near the He I 6678 Å line for the massive binary system 103 Tau, we have detected a weak absorption component belonging to the binary’s secondary component. We have measured the radial velocities of both components, improved the previously known orbital parameters, and determined the new ones. The binary has an orbital period P orb = 58.305d, an orbital eccentricity e = 0.277, a radial velocity semi-amplitude of the bright component K A = 44.8 km s?1, and a component mass ratio M A /M B = 1.77. The absence of photometric variability and the estimates of physical parameters for the primary component suggest that the binary most likely has a considerable inclination of the orbital plane to the observer, i ≈ 50°?60°. In this case, the secondary component is probably a normal dwarf of spectral type B5–B8. Based on the spectra taken near the H α line, we have studied the variability of the emission profile. It is shown to be formed in the Roche lobe of the secondary component, but no traces of active mass exchange in the binary have been detected.  相似文献
