We study the evolution of the mass motion velocity in the chromospheric condensation, when it propagates into the deeper atmosphere. The condensation is represented by a shock-like structure. Its momentum equation can be solved after some approximations. The computations are carried out for two cases, i.e., the case that the gas pressure just behind the condensation front is constant and the case that the pressure increase at the top of the condensation is constant. The results show that the duration of the condensation in the second case is considerably longer than that in the first case. The most evident difference of the velocity evolution between the two cases appears in their later phase. A comparison of the results in this paper with the dynamic simulations indicates that the second case may be closer to the real situation.

The response of a one dimensional isothermal atmosphere with rigid lower boundary and bounded upward by a very hot isothermal atmosphere to an applied random source is studied. It is shown that a concentrated white noise source merely excites the damped eigen-modes of the model and that the enhanced response at the cut-off frequency found in semi-infinite isothermal model is removed by the reflections. We believe that this rules out the attempts to relate the photospheric and chromospheric oscillations to the singular response of an excited semi-infinite isothermal atmosphere.  相似文献

The oscillatory processes in the relatively quiet solar atmosphere, at the base of an extensive coronal hole, have been investigated. The properties of the oscillations in a number of parameters related mainly to the Ca II line intensity have been analyzed in areas belonging to various chromospheric network structures (cells, networks, flocculi, etc.). The goal of this study was to reveal peculiarities of the oscillatory process in the spatial areas located (in projection) at the center of a coronal hole, near its boundary, and at a bright coronal point at various heights of the solar atmosphere (from the photosphere to the middle chromosphere). In most structural elements, the low- and high-frequency components of the spectrum have been found to increase and decrease, respectively, with height. The oscillatory power of the low-frequency oscillations is at a maximum in the areas bordering the bright magnetic network elements. The power of the three-minute, five-minute, and low-frequency oscillations decreases at the centers of the bright chromospheric network. The phase relations point to the propagation of waves mainly at the boundaries of the bright chromospheric network and intermediate (in brightness) network elements. In two of the three investigated regions, the power of the five-minute oscillations (2.4–4.0 mHz) in cells is higher than that of the three-minute ones (5.2–6.8 mHz) at the investigated levels of the quiet solar atmosphere.  相似文献

The physical properties of the quiet solar chromosphere–corona transition region are studied. Here the structure of the solar atmosphere is governed by the interaction of magnetic fields above the photosphere. Magnetic fields are concentrated into thin tubes inside which the field strength is great. We have studied how the plasma temperature, density, and velocity distributions change along a magnetic tube with one end in the chromosphere and the other one in the corona, depend on the plasma velocity at the chromospheric boundary of the transition region. Two limiting cases are considered: horizontally and vertically oriented magnetic tubes. For various plasma densities we have determined the ranges of plasma velocities at the chromospheric boundary of the transition region for which no shock waves arise in the transition region. The downward plasma flows at the base of the transition region are shown to be most favorable for the excitation of shock waves in it. For all the considered variants of the transition region we show that the thermal energy transfer along magnetic tubes can be well described in the approximation of classical collisional electron heat conduction up to very high velocities at its base. The calculated extreme ultraviolet (EUV) emission agrees well with the present-day space observations of the Sun.  相似文献

The cloud model employed in the analysis of chromospheric contrast profiles is subject to two criticisms. The source function in the cloud may not be varied independently of the Doppler width in the case of Hα and the radiative coupling between the cloud and the underlying atmosphere cannot be ignored. These criticisms are investigated quantitatively with two simple extreme models. It is found that by taking account of both effects the cloud model may be reinstated. Observed chromospheric features may be understood in terms of clouds of varying parameters embedded in the uppermost regions of a generally undisturbed homogeneous atmosphere. The variable cloud parameters are the optical thickness, the Doppler width, the bulk velocity and the angular size viewed from the line forming regions of the underlying atmosphere. Without multidimensional models the distribution of these parameters in chromospheric features observed at supergranulation boundaries for instance cannot be determined. General considerations however allow the interpretation of plagettes as simply low-lying mottles and allow the chromospheric velocity distribution derived by the original cloud model analysis to be upheld.  相似文献

Observations indicate that Ellerman bombs (EBs) and chromospheric microflares both occur in the lower solar atmosphere, and share many common features, such as temperature enhancements, accompanying jet-like mass motions, short life-time,and so on.These strongly suggest that EBs and chromospheric microflares could both probably be induced by magnetic reconnection in the lower solar atmosphere. With gravity, ionization and radiation considered,we perform two-dimensional numerical simulations of magnetic reconnecti...  相似文献

In this paper we present the observational results of chromospheric and photospheric magnetograms in active regions obtained at the Huairou Solar Observing Station of the Beijing Astronomical Observatory. Simultaneous observations of the chromospheric and photospheric magnetic fields enable us to construct a possible configuration of the magnetic field in the solar atmosphere. The chromospheric magnetic field shows more diffusion than the photospheric magnetic field and consists of fibril-like features. We also discuss the possible configuration of the magnetic shear in highly sheared active regions.  相似文献

We suggest that the waxing and waning of chromospheric and coronal heating leads to a dynamic solar atmosphere which, under the right circumstances, may produce spicules. Little is known about the heating process. However, Anderson and Athay (1989a) concluded from their study of chromospheric heating that the heating rate per gram of chromospheric matter is only a small fraction of the heating rate per gram of coronal matter. We postulate that the increased heating rate in the corona is a consequence of heating charged particles as opposed to heating neutral atoms. This leads to a specific degree of hydrogen ionization at which coronal heating begins to predominate over chromospheric heating. It also introduces the likelihood that the waxing and waning of the heating rates will have relatively large consequences in the levels where hydrogen ionization is becoming significant. It is demonstrated that changes in the heating rates are capable of inducing increases and decreases in coronal mass comparable to the mass contained in a typical spicule.  相似文献

The influence of the chromospheric condensation on H line profiles for the thermal model of a solar flare has been empirically studied in this paper. The so-called thermal model here means that there is no temperature increase relative to the quiet-Sun chromosphere but with a chromospheric condensation in the lower part of its transition region, which case is assumed to represent the early stage of the impulsive phase. The main results include: when the temperature within the condensation region is assumed to be equal to that in front of it, the influence is to create an additional absorption profile overlapping on the original one; by increasing the condensation strength, the H line profile changes from a little line-center increase to broadened red asymmetry, then to the reversed red asymmetry, and finally to two independent absorption profiles; the thickness of the condensation determines the absorption of the additional profile; descending the transition region has no obvious effect on the basic characteristic of the H line profile except a little increase in the line center. Assuming that the temperature within the condensation is higher than that ahead of the condensation, the calculated H line profiles may be strong enough to be comparable with the observations. This means that if the condensation in the purely thermal model can reach a higher temperature, we may also use only thermal origin to explain a chromospheric flare.Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow, on leave from Purple Mountain Observatory, Nanjing, China.  相似文献

The goal of this paper is a detailed statistical analysis of the low-frequency Ca II line intensity oscillations containing information about the dynamics of the lower and middle chromosphere. A pixel-by-pixel analysis of the observed parameters has been performed. The following results have been obtained. (1) The low-frequency chromospheric oscillations (periods >400 s) are seen much more frequently in networks than in chromospheric network cells. (2) The relative fraction of the low-frequency chromospheric intensity oscillations increases with height. (3) The occurrence distribution of intensity oscillations as a function of the frequency is subdivided at least into two types. (4) In contrast to the low-frequency photospheric oscillations, the phase differences between the Ca II K and 849.8 nm line intensity oscillations do not give grounds to identify the low-frequency chromospheric oscillations with internal gravity waves. (5) The spectral composition of the oscillations in the network chromosphere resembles that expected in magnetic flux tubes in the nonlinear regime of conversion of transverse MHD waves at lower levels of the atmosphere into longitudinal MHD waves in its upper layer.  相似文献

A model is presented of a solar atmosphere which is heated by the periodic passage of shock waves. The outer atmosphere rotates and is assumed not to affect the strength of the shock waves. This constant shock strength hypothesis is used as the basis of the model of the outer solar atmosphere. From the model it is concluded that the chromospheric temperature rise and flow Mach number are slightly affected by the rotation of the atmosphere.  相似文献

Activity in the chromosphere-corona transition region of the quiet Sun is found both at network boundaries and in cell interiors using a time series of the EUV spectroheliograms obtained with the Harvard experiment on Skylab. We identify time-varying sources by subtracting the minimum count at each pixel in the time series from the counts at any time. Larger flux enhancements in emission lines occur only at the network boundary, though the cell interiors also have variable intensities. Time-varying sources in the cell interior appear often in the shape of streaks which seem to originate from sources at the network boundary, or as expanding network boundary sources. It is likely that the sources in the cell interior come from the transition sheaths of chromospheric inhomogenities. A multi-temperature analysis shows that two types of sources occur in the quiet Sun. One is due to heating of cool chromospheric inhomogenities like dark mottles. Sometimes cool matter is heated to coronal temperatures. The typical mass of the coronal material produced is 1011-1012g. The other type seems to be due to draining of transition region material at the network boundary as the result of thermal instabilities. This quiet Sun activity is compatible with the time-varying sources at 6 cm wavelength.  相似文献

A dynamical model is proposed for the formation of soft X-ray emitting hot loops in solar flares. It is examined by numerical simulations how a solar model atmosphere in a magnetic loop changes its state and forms a hot loop when the flare energy is released in the form of heat liberation either at the top part or around the transition region in the loop. When the heat liberation takes place at the top part of the loop which arches in the corona, the plasma temperature around the loop apex rises rapidly and, as the result, the downward thermal conductive flux is increased along the magnetic tube of force. Soon after the thermal conduction front rushes into the upper chromosphere, a local peak of pressure is produced near the conduction front and the chromospheric material begins to expand into the corona to form a high-temperature (107 K-3 × 107 K at the loop apex) and high-density (1010 cm–3-1011 cm–3 at the loop apex) loop. The velocity of the expanding material can reach a few hundred kilometres per second in the coronal part. The thermal conduction front also plays a role of piston pushing the chromospheric material downward and gives birth to a shock wave which propagates through the minimum temperature region into the photosphere. If, on the other hand, the heat source is placed around the transition region in the loop, the expansion of the material into the corona occurs from the beginning of the flare and the formation process of the hot loop differs somewhat from the case with the heat source at the top part of the loop.Thermal components of radiations emitted from flare regions, ranging from soft X-rays to radio wavelengths, are interpreted in a unified way by using physical quantities obtained as functions of time and position in our flare loop model as will be discussed in detail in a following paper.  相似文献

Two flare unconnected eruptions on January 15 and 29, 1968, are discussed. The first is a filament which turns bright and erupts upward, reappearing an hour later. The second is a large eruptive arch seen against the disk. The arch is bright at the top of its trajectory, turns dark, but produces chromospheric emission at the point of impact. The emission at the top of the arch is ascribed to the velocity shift of the illuminating chromospheric Ha line. It is shown that such emission will occur only if the motion is transverse to the line of sight and the prominence is optically thin. This research was supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant 1472, the Advanced Research Projects Agency under the Office of Naval Research Grant N00014-67-C-0140, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration under Grant NGR 05 002 034.  相似文献

The evolutionary and spatial characteristics of the motions in the flaring chromosphere of a 2B/M2.3 flare are investigated by analyzing the asymmetry in the Hα profiles. The possibility of reconciling the results of observations with the theory of chromospheric evaporation is considered. The spectroscopic Hα observations of the flare performed with the KG-2 CrAO coronagraph with a temporal resolution of 5–10 s and a spatial resolution as high as 1 arcsec cover all stages of flare development. The following results have been obtained: (1) The Hα profile asymmetry is a general characteristic of the flare emission irrespective of its intensity and its belonging to different structural features and phases of flare development. (2) Most of the Hα emission profiles in flare regions exhibit a red asymmetry. However, a blue asymmetry was observed in small local regions at all stages of flare development. (3) A red asymmetry that appeared before the onset of the impulsive phase and persisted after its end was observed at the sites of main energy release, i.e., the energy source responsible for the dynamical processes in the flare came into operation earlier and existed longer than the HXR emission. (4) The asymmetry pattern changed with flare phase: the red wing intensity dominated in the pre-impulsive phase and at the onset of the impulsive and gradual phases (while the line core was unshifted or slightly shifted). At the maximum of the impulsive phase, the nearly symmetric profiles with extended wings were redshifted as a whole, i.e., the entire emitting volume moved down with a velocity of several tens of km/s. This type of asymmetry cannot be explained by the dynamical model of chromospheric condensation (Canfield and Gayley 1987). (5) The Hα profiles show no evidence of chromospheric heating by a beam of nonthermal electrons during the impulsive phase (Canfield et al. 1984). (6) The lifetime of the downflows and the change in their velocities with time are inconsistent with the dynamical model of chromospheric condensation (Fisher 1989). (7) The morphological features of the velocity field are also inconsistent with the theory of chromospheric evaporation, because the highest differently directed velocities were detected at the flare loop tops, not at the sites of main energy release. We conclude that the investigated flare shows spectral features that are inconsistent with the standard chromospheric evaporation model.  相似文献

The process of origination and development of instabilities of the longitudinal waves of two types, namely, low-frequency ion-acoustic and high-frequency (“electronic”) Langmuir waves, in the preflare atmosphere of an active solar region are studied. The area under study is located at the chromospheric part of the flare loop near its footpoint. A weak large-scale electric field of flaring loop is the main source of these instabilities. The velocity of an electronic flow in the preflare plasma is supposed to be much lower than thermal electron velocity. Instability development is considered against the background of small-scale Bernstein wave turbulence, which exists in the preflare plasma and has an extremely low threshold of excitation. The necessary conditions for the instability origination and development, as well as the boundary values of the main plasma and wave perturbation parameters, are calculated.  相似文献

The asymmetries and Doppler shifts of metallic lines of the 3B flare on September 19, 1979 are investigated in this paper. The results show that: (1) red asymmetries dominate in strong metallic lines, but blue asymmetries also exist in some weak lines; (2) the maximum of the line asymmetry always precedes the maximum of the line intensity; (3) the blue asymmetry occurs generally in the early phase, and can occasionally turn to a red one in the later phase; and (4) the line center has no obvious shift, regardless of the line asymmetry. It is proposed that, the mass motions around the temperature minimum region caused by the impulsive heating or the propagation of the chromospheric condensation can explain these observational results. The study on metallic lines has an auxiliary help for understanding the dynamic process in the lower atmosphere of solar flares.  相似文献
