A new solar telescope system is described, which has been operating at Huairou Solar Observing Station (HSOS), National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), since the end of 2005. This instrument, the Solar Magnetism and Activity Telescope (SMAT), comprises two telescopes which respectively make measurements of full solar disk vector magnetic field and Hα observation. The core of the full solar disk video vector magnetograph is a birefringent filter with 0.1  bandpass, installed in the tele-centric optical system of the telescope. We present some preliminary observational results of the full solar disk vector magnetograms and Hα filtergrams obtained with this telescope system.  相似文献

Haughton is a ~24 Myr old midsize (apparent diameter 23 km) complex impact structure located on Devon Island in Nunavut, Canada. The center of the structure shows a negative gravity anomaly of ?12 mGal coupled to a localized positive magnetic field anomaly of ~900 nT. A field expedition in 2013 led to the acquisition of new ground magnetic field mapping and electrical resistivity data sets, as well as the first subsurface drill cores down to 13 m depth at the top of the magnetic field anomaly. Petrography, rock magnetic, and petrophysical measurements were performed on the cores and revealed two different types of clast‐rich polymict impactites: (1) a white hydrothermally altered impact melt rock, not previously observed at Haughton, and (2) a gray impact melt rock with no macroscopic sign of alteration. In the altered core, gypsum is present in macroscopic veins and in the form of intergranular selenite associated with colored and zoned carbonate clasts. This altered core has a natural remanent magnetization (NRM) four to five times higher than materials from the other core but the same magnetic susceptibility. Their magnetization is still higher than the surrounding crater‐fill impact melt rocks. X‐ray fluorescence data indicate a similar proportion of iron‐rich phases in both cores and an enrichment in silicates within the altered core. In addition, alternating‐field demagnetization results show that one main process remagnetized the rocks. These results support the hypothesis that intense and possibly localized post‐impact hydrothermal alteration enhanced the magnetization of the clast‐rich impact melt rocks by crystallization of magnetite within the center of the Haughton impact structure. Subsequent erosion was followed by in situ concentration in the subsurface leading to large magnetic gradient on surface.  相似文献

Two examples of sudden brightenings in local regions of active prominences as observed at the center of the H line are described. The origin of the brightenings is discussed in terms of Doppler shifts along the line of sight, Doppler brightenings and intrinsic changes of physical conditions. Based on the measurements performed from 2007 to 2015 at the summit of Mount Shatdzhatmaz adjacent to the 2.5-m telescope at the Caucasus Observatory of the SAI MSU, we have determined the statistical characteristics of basic meteorological parameters: the ambient air temperature, the ground wind speed, and the relative humidity. The stability of these parameters over the entire period of our measurements and their variations within an annual cycle have been studied. The median temperature on clear nights is +3.2°C, although there are nights with a temperature below ?15°C. The typical ground wind speed is 3 m s?1; the probability of a wind stronger than 10 m s?1 does not exceed 2%. The losses of observing time due to high humidity are maximal in the summer period but, on the whole, are small over a year, less than 10%. We have estimated the absolute water vapor content in the atmosphere, which is especially important for infrared observations. Minimum precipitablewater vapor is observed in December–February; the median value over these months is 5 mm. We additionally provide the wind speeds at various altitudes above the ground (from 1 to 16 km) that we obtained when measuring the optical turbulence. We present the results and technique of our measurements of the annual amount of clear night astronomical time, which is, on average, 1320 h, i.e., 45% of the possible one at the latitude of the observatory. The period from mid-September to mid-March accounts for about 70% of the clear time. A maximum of clear skies is observed in November, when its fraction reaches 60% of the possible astronomical night time.  相似文献

This paper reports on the installation and observations of a new solar telescope installed on 2014 October 7 at the Kodaikanal Observatory. The telescope is a refractive type equipped with a tunable Lyot Hα filter. A CCD camera with size 2k×2k acquires images of the Sun and has a pixel size of 1.21′′pixel-1and a full field-of-view of 41′. The telescope is equipped with a guiding system which keeps the image of the Sun within a few pixels throughout the observations. The FWHM of the Lyot filter is 0.4 A? and the filter is motorized, capable of scanning the Hα line profile at a smaller step size of 0.01 A?. Partial-disk imaging covering about 10′is also possible with the help of a relay lens kept in front of the CCD camera. In this paper, we report the detailed specifications of the telescope, filter unit, the installation, observations and the procedures we have followed to calibrate and align the data. We also present preliminary results with this new full-disk telescope.  相似文献

We analyze oscillation behaviours in chromospheric internetwork regions using spectral observations of the CⅡ1334 A line obtained with the Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation spectrograph (SUMER) aboard Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). Three areas, 26 ×120arcsec2 each, at the various latitudes from the disk center to the north polar coronal hole, were rastered with a cadence of about 40-60 s in the solar minimum year. We obtained the time evolution of two-dimensional (2D) line intensity, continuum and line core shift. The continuum and the line shift show -3 min chromospheric oscillations in the internetwork regions underlying the coronal hole as well as at the disk center. We find that the CⅡ1334A line shift oscillates with an average speed of -1.7 km s-1, independent of the latitude, while its coherent scale decreases with latitude. On the other hand, the oscillation amplitude of the continuum around the 1334 A and the phase delay between the Doppler shift and continuum sli  相似文献

The effects of large-scale fluctuations on small-scale isothermal modes at the epoch of recombination are analysed. We find the following. (a) Albeit the fact that primordial fluctuations were at this epoch still well in the linear regime, a significant non-linear radiation hydrodynamic interaction could have taken place. (b) Short-wavelength isothermal fluctuations are unstable. Their growth rate is an exponential function of the amplitude of the large-scale fluctuations and is therefore very sensitive to the initial conditions. (c) The observed cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) fluctuations are of order of the limit above which the effect should be significant. Thus, depending on their exact value, the effect may be negligible or lead to structure formation out of the isothermal fluctuations within the period of recombination. (d) If the cosmological parameters are within the prescribed regime, the effect should be detectable through induced deviations in the Planck spectrum. (e) The sensitivity of the effect to the initial conditions provides a tool to set limits on various cosmological parameters with emphasis on the type and amplitude of the primordial fluctuation spectrum. (f) Under proper conditions, the effect may be responsible for the formation of sub-globular-cluster sized objects at particularly high redshifts. (g) Under certain circumstances, it can also affect horizon-sized large-scale structure.  相似文献

STEREO A and B observations of the radial magnetic field between 1 January 2007 and 31 October 2008 show significant evidence that in the heliosphere, the ambient radial magnetic field component with any dynamic effects removed is uniformly distributed. Based on this monopolar nature of the ambient heliospheric field we find that the surface beyond which the magnetic fields are in the monopolar configuration must be spherical, and this spherical surface can be defined as the inner boundary of the heliosphere that separates the monopole-dominated heliospheric magnetic field from the multipole-dominated coronal magnetic field. By using the radial variation of the coronal helmet streamers belts and the horizontal current – current sheet – source surface model we find that the spherical inner boundary of the heliosphere should be located around 14 solar radii near solar minimum phase.  相似文献

The Lulin One-meter Telescope at Lulin Observatory in Taiwan started open-use observations in January 2003. In order to evaluate the performance of the CCD photometric system, the characteristics and quality of the site, we obtained data of photometric standards as well as calibration data from February to November 2004. We report here the results of our analysis including the gain, readout noise, dark current and linearity of the CCD camera, and transformation coefficients, total throughputs, night sky brightnesses and limiting magnitudes for UBVRI bands.  相似文献

Development of ultra-high power lasers has lead to the very interesting and important field of Laboratory Astrophysics. Recent progress and expected near future developments in the technology of strongly bunched intense particle beams has opened up the possibility of studying planetary interiors in the laboratory which hopefully will eventually converge in the new field of Laboratory Planetary Physics. GSI Helmholzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung, Darmstadt is a well known laboratory worldwide due to its unique particle accelerator facilities. Construction of the new huge accelerator complex, the Facility for Antiprotons and Ion Research (FAIR), will substantially improve the existing capabilities of the GSI. A dedicated program named, HEDgeHOB, that aims to study different problems in High Energy Density (HED) Physics at the FAIR facility, has been proposed. One of these proposed experiments LAPLAS (LAboratory PLAnetary Science), aim to study materials at extreme conditions as relevant for the interiors of giant planets. In this paper we present simulation results that show that various regions of the high-pressure phase diagram of water can be probed within the LAPLAS experiments. For instance, the plasma and the superionic phase are predicted to occur in the interior of water-rich planets such as Uranus and Neptune as well as in extrasolar planets such as GJ 436b.  相似文献

We present spectra and slit-jaw images of limb and on-disk eruptive events observed with a high temporal resolution by the Ond?ejov Observatory optical spectrograph. Analysis of the time series of full width at half-maximum (FWHM) in Hα, Hβ, and radio and soft X-ray (SXR) fluxes indicates two phenomenologically distinct types of observations which differ significantly in the timing of FWHM and SXR/radio fluxes. We investigated one such unusual case of a limb eruptive event in more detail. Synthesis of all observed data supports the interpretation of the Hα broadening in the sense of regular macroscopic plasma motions, contrary to the traditional view (emission from warm dense plasma). The timing and observed characteristics indicate that we may have actually observed the initiation of a prominence eruption. We test this scenario via modeling of the initial phase of the flux rope eruption in a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation, calculating subsequently – under some simplifying assumptions – the modeled Hα emission and spectrum. The modeled and observed data correspond well. Nevertheless, the following question arises: To what extent is the resulting emission sensitive to the underlying model of plasma dynamics? To address this issue, we have computed a grid of kinematic models with various arbitrary plasma flow patterns and then calculated their resulting emission. Finally, we suggest a diagnostics based on the model and demonstrate that it can be used to estimate the Alfvén velocity and plasma beta in the prominence, which are otherwise hard to obtain.  相似文献

The new electronic database developed by the authors and titled “Astronomers of Ukraine” is described as a source of the main biographical data on astronomers of Ukraine from the 15th century until the beginning of the 21st century. The database is an upgrading component of the Ukrainian Virtual Observatory portal and contains the main biobibliographical data and papers concerning astronomers of Ukraine, as well as links to their publications. The existing biographical sources about astronomers in the world are discussed briefly. A list of the principal publications about astronomers of Ukraine is given.  相似文献

We describe the archive of scans of the astronomical plates obtained in the observations of comet Hale–Bopp. The observations were carried out from August 17, 1996, to April 29, 1997, at the Zeiss-400/2000 astrograph of the Zvenigorod Observatory of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INASAN). The archive contains the images that can be used in astrometric, photometric, and astrophysical studies. In some of the plates, the size of the comet reaches 6.3° (23 cm). In many scans, the details of the cometary tail, including individual jets, vortexes, etc., are clearly distinguishable. The archive of the images is available free.  相似文献

We present total intensity maps of the galaxy NGC 2997 at frequencies 1435.1MHz (λ21cm) and 1652.4MHz (λ18cm) observed with the Very Large Array (VLA). The high spatial resolution allows us to distinguish two dominant arms. Using multi-frequency data, we separate the thermal and non-thermal contributions to the radio emission. The thermal emission is about 35% of the total emission at λ3 cm. We use it to estimate a space-averaged thermal  相似文献

We study the physical state of the photosphere at about 30 minutes before and at the onset of a 2N/M2 two-ribbon solar flare. Semiempirical photospheric models are obtained for two Hα-kernels with the help of the SIR inversion code described by Ruiz Cobo and del Toro Iniesta (Astrophys. J. 398, 375, 1992). The models derived from the inversion reproduce spectral observations in seven Fraunhofer lines. The inferred models show variations in all photospheric parameters both before and at the onset of the flare relative to the quiet-Sun model. The temperature enhancement in the upper photospheric layers is found in the atmospheres in both kernels. The dynamical structure in the models reveals the variations at the onset of the flare relative to the preflaring ones. The inferred atmospheres show some difference in the thermodynamical parameters of two kernels.  相似文献

The microwave circular polarization of the active region (AR) NOAA 7260 on 21–23 August 1992 is analyzed. Two-dimensional images at 1.76 cm with spatial resolution of =10 from the Nobeyama radioheliograph and one-dimensional scans at 9 wavelengths in the range of 1.81–3.43 cm and =16.3–31.1 from the radio telescope RATAN-600 were used. An inversion of the sense of circular polarization through the wavelength range was recorded on 22 August. It is shown that both the wavelength and the time dependence of the inversion are consistent with quasi-transverse (QT) propagation of the radiation in the solar corona. From this, the strength of the coronal magnetic field in the active region was found to be H=20–65 G at a height of h= (5.7–8.7)×109 cm above the photosphere on 22 and 30 August and 125 G at the lower height of (3.7–6.4)×109 cm on 23 August. We present a new technique, based on the radio mapping (in both Stokes I and V) of an AR undergoing circular polarization inversion; applying this method to the Nobeyama data we obtained, for the first time, a magnetogram of the coronal magnetic field. For AR 7260 we found values in the range of 70–100 G at heights of (4–6)×109 cm on 23 August, adopting a constant value of NL (where N is the electron density and L is the scale of the coronal field divergence) of 2.5×1018 cm–2. We compare our results with force-free extrapolations of the photospheric magnetic field from a MSFC magnetogram obtained on 20 August.  相似文献
