This paper analyses the meeting between the international petroleum industry and two local communities. The building of an oil terminal in a local community is both a major event, and a generator of processes on the local level. Three different angles is used to enlighten these processes; categorised as as place, people and mind. The place analysis consentrates on the effects on population and workforce development, the people analysis look at the institutional and planning processes, and the mind analysis the effects on the feeling of local identification. The paper demonstrates that local factors are of crucial importance even for the international petroleum industry.  相似文献

The distribution of methy1-2-(4,8,12-trimethyltridecyl)chromans (M-MTTC)is relat-ed to sedimentary environments.5,7,8-tri-Me-MTTC,5,8-di-Me-MTTC and 7,8-di-Me-MTTC have been found in coal for the first time,implying thatM-MTTC is widely spread in sediments.The distri-bution of M-MTTC the presence of C32-C35 benzohopanes,high Pr/Ph ratio,obvious even-odd pre-dominance in C24-C34 alkanes and odd-even predominance in normal alkanes provide strong evidence of a near-shore lacustrine environment.  相似文献

Groundwater is a strategic resource due to its usually high quality and perennial availability. However, groundwater management all over the world often lacks sustainability as evidenced by falling water tables, drying wetlands, increasing sea-water intrusion and general deterioration of water quality. As groundwater cannot be renewed artificially on a large scale, sustainable management of this resource is vital. A number of scientific tools are available to assist in his task. Three items are discussed here. They include methods for the determination of groundwater recharge, groundwater modeling including the estimation of its uncertainty, and thenterfacing to the socio-economic field. Generally the quality of water management work can be largely enhanced with new tools available, including remote sensing, digital terrain models, differential GPS, environmental tracers, automatic data collection, modeling and the coupling of models from different disciplines  相似文献

Throughy studies of P-T-t paths and decompressive retrograde metamorphic textures of metamorphic rocks in the East Qinling-Dabieshan region,the authors determined the Mesozoic crust rapid uplifting age,and then inferred that in the East Qinling-Dabieshan region lithosphere delamination occurred from T3 to J1.The Yanshanian granites produced by delamination are developed well in the East Qinling-Dabieshan region.But due to the Gondwana plate effect,magmatism in the region caused by delamination lagged until J3 when the northern Tibet terrane and the Eurasian plate completely amalgamated.Additionally,due to western Pacific plate subducting underneath the Eurasian plate,in the East Qinling-Dabieshan region the stress state was transformed from compression to extension.So in the region from J3 to K2 magmatism was most intensive,and liberalization was also relatively strong.Geophysical data reflect that in the East Qinling-Dabieshan region the asthenosphere rose to the shallow level,the Moho is flat with no mountain root,and the crustal thickness is less than 40 km on average. These features agree with those of collisional orogenes in which delamination has occurred.Through contrastin differences in surface and interior depth between east and west Qinling we believe that elamination proceeded from east to west.  相似文献

The Cantor's dust theory is applied to investigate the scaling properties of the spatial distribution of natural fractures obtained from detailed scanline surveys of 27 field sites in the Appalachian Plateau of western New York, USA. The results obtained in this study indicate: 1) fracture spacing is characterized by fractal and multifractal properties. On small scales analyses yield an average fractal dimension of 0.15, which suggests a very high degree of clustering. In contrast, on large scales, fractures tend to be more regular and evenly distributed with an average fracture dimension of 0.52; 2) fractal dimension varies with different sets in different orientations, which can be attributed to interactions between pre-existing fractures and younger ones, as well as variations of the intensity of the stresses under which the fractures were formed; 3) a time sequence of fracture set formation can be proposed based on fractal and multifractal analyses, which consists of (from old to young): N-S, NW, EN  相似文献

The origin of the Antarctic continent can be traced to a relatively small late Archaean cratonic nucleus centred on the Terre Adélie regions of East Antarctica and the Gawler Craton region of South Australia. From the late Archaean to the present, the evolution of the proto-Antarctic continent was remarkably dynamic with quasi-continuous growth driven by accretionary or collisional events, episodically punctuated by periods of crustal extension and rifting. The evolution of the continent can be broken into seven main steps: (1) late Palaeoproterozoic to middle Mesoproterozoic accretion and collision added crust first to the Antarctic nucleus's eastern margin, then to its western margin. These events resulted in the incorporation of the Antarctic nucleus within a single large continent that included all of Proterozoic Australia, a more cryptic Curnamona–Beardsmore Craton and most probably Laurentia. (2) Rifting in the middle to late Mesoproterozoic separated a block of continental crust of unknown dimensions to form an ocean-facing margin, the western edge of which was defined by the ancestral Darling Fault in Western Australia and its unnamed continuation in Antarctica. (3) Inversion of this margin followed shortly and led to the Grenville aged collision and juxtaposition of proto-Antarctica with the Crohn Craton, a continental block of inferred Archaean and Palaeoproterozoic age that now underlies much of central East Antarctica. The Pinjarra Orogen, exposed along the coast of Western Australia, defines the orogenic belt marking this collision. In Antarctica the continuation of this belt has been imaged in sub-ice geophysical datasets and can be inferred from sparse outcrop data and via the widespread dispersal of syn-tectonic zircons. (4) Tectonic quiescence from the latest Mesoproterozoic to the Cryogenian was the forerunner to Ediacaran rifting that separated Laurentia and the majority of the Curnamona–Beardsmore craton from the amalgam of East Antarctica and Australia. The result was the formation of the ancestral Pacific Ocean. (5) The rifting of Laurentia was mirrored by convergence along the opposing margin of the continent. Convergence ultimately sutured material with Indian and African affinities during a series of Ediacaran and Cambrian events related to the formation of Gondwana. These events added much of the crust that today defines the East Antarctic coastline between longitudes 30°W and 100°E. (6) The amalgamation of Gondwana marked a shift in the locus of subduction from between the pre-Gondwana cratons to Gondwana's previously passive Pacific margin. The result was the establishment of the accretionary Terra Australis and Gondwanide orogenies. These were to last from the late Cambrian to the Cretaceous, and together accreted vast sequences of Gondwana derived sediment as well as fragments of older and allochthonous or para-allochthonous continental crust to Gondwana's Pacific margin. (7) The final phases of accretion overlapped with the initiation of extension and somewhat later rifting within Gondwana. Extension started in the late Carboniferous, although continental separation did not begin until the middle Jurassic. Gondwana then fragmented sequentially with Africa–South America, India, Australia and the finally the blocks of New Zealand separating between the middle Jurassic and the late Cretaceous. The late Cretaceous separation of Antarctica and Australia split the original Antarctic nucleus, terminating more than 2.4 billion years of shared evolution. The slightly younger separation of New Zealand formed the modern Antarctic continent.  相似文献

How to quantitatively evaluate the maturity of crude oils is still an open question. Mango discovered a remarkable compositional invariance of four isoheptane ratios in crude oils, and proposed a steady-state catalytic model for the origin of light hydrocarbons. According to this model, 2,4/2,3 dimethylpentane ratio is a pure temperature parameter. Bement, Mango et al. established the functional equation between the two parameters-light hydrocarbon temperature and burial temperature and applied it to the calculation of hydrocarbon-generating temperature, which provided a new choice for the study of oil maturity. In this paper, the Mango's parameters for hydrocarbons from the Tazhong area were calculated, the average K1 value is 1.06, which is in good consistency with the Mango's proposal that the K1 value is relatively stable. Calculated with the functional formula of hydrocarbon-generating temperature, the hydrocarbon-generating temperatures are with the range of 120-129℃, and the converted vitrinite reflectance (Ro) varies from 0.88% to 0.90%. This is well consistent with the maturity characteristics of neohopanes. The results have verified the reliability of this method.  相似文献

Health risk from various particulates of dust has been of public health concern for many years and scientific observations on dust have been going on for the last 200 years. Diseases resulting from exposure to dust are generally known as pneumoconiosis and have been primarily associated with occupational exposure to silica dust. Silica, which induces silicosis, has been recognized as far back as the Hippocratic times. The aim of the research is to try to assess the nature and scale of health risks from environmental exposure to silica on a global scale, with particular emphasis on non-occupational silicosis (pneumoconiosis). Thorough literature reviews included studies and literature from non-occupational and occupational silicosis studies along with papers from Geology and Medicine. Non-published studies and local knowledge from Ladakh were used in pertinent of the review. The commonest form of silica (SiO2) is quartz. Other particulates in the atmosphere and finer particles 〈10 when inhaled with oxygen endanger human health; silica is the most threatening for non-occupational silicosis because of its high fibrogenicity. Aerosol minerals can often travel from continent to continent creating a health risk not just in the area of dust source, but also to secluded humans. When emitted into the air environmental exposure to (silica) quartz can occur as component of particulates emissions produced by natural-industrial-agricultural activities. Human exposure to environmental (silica) quartz can be summarized into direct and indirect pathways. Health risk from exposure to silica (quartz) has been widely studied in occupational settings; however there is a scarcity of studies on environmental/non-occupational exposure. Review of epidemiological studies on environment/non-occupational silicosis showed that all the studies lack a good control group and represent a small sample size. Many of these studies are case reports with retrospective histopathology, focusing only on the prevalence and lacking robust exposure measurement. Non-occupational/environmental silicosis is a global public health concem and the areas of dust source could be modified with climate changes. Literature is very scarce in relation to health risks from environmental dust (silica/quartz), nevertheless the review of occupational studies links silica exposure to numerous diseases in humans.  相似文献

The basic concepts in its early urban development made it the model for Korean cities of later ages. In the 6th and 7th century AD P’yôngyang was one of the largest cities in Asia, second only to the imperial capital of China, but it later declined. It partly recovered its former position when it became the capital of North Korea after World War II. The F-rich granites in South CHina could be distinguished as the high-P subtype and the low-P subtype according to their P2O5 contents.There are obvious differences in chemical composition of these two subtypes,The high-P subtype is strongly peraluminous and characterized by low silica and very low REE contents,while the low-P subtype is weakly peraluminous and characterized by high silica and very high REE contents.There are also some differences in chmical compositions of feldspars and micas for these two subtypes,The phosphorus of the high-P subtype mainly appears to be in the feldspar structure as PAlSi-2 substitution or subordinately in amblygonite as an accessory mineral,while the phosphorus of the low-P subtype is mainly in apatite and other phosphate minerals.  相似文献

Rb-Sr and U-Pb isotopic studies of the two contrasting granite types of the Daguzhai and Luobuli massifs in South China provide new constraints on the interpretation of isotopic age data for plutonic igneous rocks. A Rb-Sr internal isochron age of 146±7Ma for the Luobuli adamellite is interpreted to represent the age of magma crystallization, whereas the whole rock Rb- Sr isochron yields an older apparent age of 161±10Ma which is regarded as resulting from contamination processes affecting the petrogenesis of this adamellite. In the Daguzhai granite the marked scatter of whole- rock Rb-Sr data in isochron diagram is ascribed to the open system behavior of Rb during postmagmatic autometasomatism. Uniformity of initial87Sr /86Sr ratio in this granite is indicated in a plot of87Sr versus86Sr. The autometasomatism has also affected zircon U-Pb system, resulting in a spread of data along the concordia curve between 165 and 125Ma. This spread is regarded as indicating the duration of the autometasomatism.  相似文献

There are a variety of approaches to the restoration of the primary rocks,but various discrimina-tion diagrams or functional formulae have a limit on their application and discrimination accuracy.On the basis of statistical analyses in conjunction with the advantages of various discrimination dia-grams,this paper presents a new functional discriminant:Dy=-2lgA 1gE-0.5lgF-2lgM 3lgC 5.5lgN 1.5lgK-Z.The above discriminant can be rewritten as :Dy=lg EC^3N^5.5K^1.5/A^2F^0.5M^2-Z This discriminant is not applicable to sedimentary rocks,particularly those enriched in Ca, and Mg rich ultrabasic rocks.In this study 1640 typical rock samples and 126 sedimentary (metasedimentary )rock samples and 126 volcanogenic iron ore samples were tested with the above described discriminant .The results obtained are satisfactory with the exception of feldspar sandstone.The discrimination rates for various types of rocks are in the range of 85-95% or more with a total discrimination rate of 91.7%.This paper analyzes the factors leading to wrong discrimination and also points out that coarse detrital rocks,weathered volcanic rocks,volcanic fine detrital rocks of two different material sources and Ca-rich sedimentary rocks are easy to suffer wrong discrimination.  相似文献

The dissipative structure is an ordered structure.When a ssyterm is far from reaching equilibrium in the condition of non-equilibrium and exchanges some energy and material with the surroundings,this structure will be formed and preserved.Starting with the analysis of practical data,we attempt to use this theory to discuss the tectono-geochemical problems of some rock and ore-forming systems in faults.1.Ordered structure:Under the geological condition,due to the opening of a system in which energy and material are involved in geochemical action,the entropy tends to reduce gradually and substances evolve from non-ordered to ordered in structure.In the processes of formation of rocks and ores in faults,various layer-bands will be formed in rocks.2.Functional action:The physico-chemical activities which include pressure-creeping and thermal-diffusion as well as liquid diffusion have been shown.3.Fluctuating cycle:In the process of metamorphism,various changes in pressure,temperature and liquid are of fluctuation and periodicity.These may play an important role in the formation of rocks and minerals and the occurrence of ordered structures in fault zones.A few examples of mineral deposits in the middle and lower Yangtze River Valley are presented here,and the dissipative activities of rock-forming minerals and mineral-forming elements have been preliminarily established.  相似文献
