In the classic theory of plate tectonics, ophiolitic mantle peridotites (i.e., abyssal peridotite) are thought to originate in the shallow mantle beneath ocean spreading centers.Diamonds and other UHP minerals have been found in opholitic mantle peridotites and chromitites along the Neo-Tethyan Yarlung Zangbo suture of southern Tibet, and in a Paleozoic ophiolite in the Polar Urals of Russia,suggesting that UHP minerals may be widespread in ophiolitic peridotites.Diamonds from these different localities all have very similar features in C isotope and mineral inclusions,and are distinct from the other two well known types, i.e. kimberlitic diamonds and UHP metamorphicdiamonds. The occurrence of diamond in ophiolite indicate a completely new environment for diamond formation, which can be regarded as ophiolite-type diamond. These new findings indicate a need to reconsider the nature of the upper mantle and the conditions under which ophiolites form.  相似文献

The tried and tested multianvil apparatus has been widely used for high-pressure and high-temperature experimental studies in Earth science. As a result, many important results have been obtained for a better understanding of the components, structure and evolution of the Earth. Due to the strength limitation of materials, the attainable multianvil pressure is generally limited to about 30 GPa (corresponding to about 900 km of the depth in the Earth) when tungsten carbide cubes are adopted as second-stage anvils. Compared with tungsten carbide, the sintered diamond is a much harder material. The sintered diamond cubes were introduced as second-stage anvils in a 6–8 type multianvil apparatus in the 1980s, which largely enhanced the capacity of pressure generation in a large volume press. With the development of material synthesis and processing techniques, a large sintered diamond cube (14 mm) is now available. Recently, maximum attainable pressures reaching higher than 90 GPa (corresponding to about 2700 km of the depth in the Earth) have been generated at room temperature by adopting 14-mm sintered diamond anvils. Using this technique, a few researches have been carried out by the quenched method or combined with synchrotron radiation in situ observation. In this paper we review the properties of sintered diamond and the evolution of pressure generation using sintered diamond anvils. As-yet unsolved problems and perspectives for uses in Earth Science are also discussed.  相似文献

In the present paper is recommended a new method of directly injecting crude oil into a gas chromatograph for gas chromatographic analysis, which has been proved valid it the analysis and investigation of crude oil samples from different formationsin China. In terms of the distribution patterns of hydrocarbons in “total hydrocarbon”chromatogram and the relative values of their major characteristic peaks,types of crude oil of different forations from a same region can be readily recognized and a comparison of different oil sourees can also be made.Meanwhile,it might be adopted to eveluate the geological conditions in favour of oil preservation.  相似文献

The effect of Co2 and CH4 degassing from the mantle on the carbon isotopic composition of diamond has been quantitatively modeled in terms of the principles of Rayleigh distillation.Assuming the δ^13 C value of -5‰ for the mantle,the outgassing of CO2 can result in the large negative δ^13 C values of diamond,whereas the outgassing of CH4 can drive the δ^13C values of diamond in the positive direction.The theoretical expectations can be used to explain the full range of δ^13 C values from-34.4‰5 to 5‰ observed for natural diamonds.It is possible that diamond formation was triggered by the degassing of Co2 and/or CH4 from the mantle and the associated fractional crystallization of carbonate-bearing melt.  相似文献

It has become clear in recent years that the important substitutional impurities in diamond are nitrogen,hydrogen and boron(Bibby,D.M.,1982).The physical and chemical properties of diamond are determined by the content and form of occurence of nitrogen based on which diamonds are generally classified.The well-known experiments concerning the mutual transformation of the forms the origin of diamond.by Evans.T.Et al.(1982) have provided a theoretic basis for the origin of diamond.Since 1979,spectroscopic investigation of natural diamonds from different areas in china has been carried out using UV-visible and IR spectrophotometer,EPR and cathodoluminescence techniques.We have conducted the classification of natural cathodoluminescence techniques.We have conducted the classification of natural diamonds in China and studies on the forms of nitrogen and hydrogen,the radiation damage and their geological implications.Spectroscopic characteristics of natural diamonds in china and their geological implications are discussed in this paper.  相似文献

An attempt has been made to give an insight into the genesis of enclaves in granites by mathematically quantitative methods.After some deduction,the quantitative models of trace elements for the genetically different enclaves have been established,including those for restites,segregation schlierens,enclaves formed out of solidified margins ,and enclaves derived from the mixing of different magmas.These models have been tested and proven to be valid and reliable.The conclusions inferred from these quantitative models are consistent with field observations and petrological ,mineralogical and geochemical evidence.  相似文献

Quantitative estimation of ground and stream waters draining through sedimentary rocks of the Pab and Mor ranges (Jurassic-Cretaceous) and the Bela ophiolite has been made. The degree of correspondence among cations and anions has been estimated in order to evaluate their mutual relationships. The abundance of major ions is interpreted to be related to bedrocks and climatic conditions, which may contribute to the genetic affiliation. The log TDS and Na/Na Ca ratio reflected supremacy of weathering of rocks with some influence of evaporation. Ionic relationship is exhibited in the form of Stiff diagrams. Patterns of ionic composition revealed high NaCl, medium Ca(HCO3)2 and low MgSO4. Piper diagram has been used to classify the hydrofacies. The important hydrogeochemical parameters have been estimated for assessment of groundwater quality for domestic purposes in accordance to WHO. Irrigation water qualities have been evaluated in terms of EC, SAR, RSC, ESP and pH.  相似文献

A wide variety of unusual mantle has been reported from podiform chromitite orebodies Cr-31 and Cr-74 in the Luobusa (罗布莎) ophiolite, Tibet. A detailed investigation of chromitite ore-body Cr-11, located in the Kangjinla (康金拉) district at the eastern end of the ophiolite, has revealed many of the same minerals, including diamond, moissanite, and some native elements, alloys, oxides, sulphides, silicates, carbonates, and tungstates. This orebody is particularly rich in diamonds, with over 1 000 grains recovered from about 1 100 kg sample of chromitite. More detailed studies and experi-ments are needed to understand the origin and significance of these unusual minerals because they have not been found in situ. It is a great breakthrough in mineralogical research that we have picked up more than 40 kinds of minerals from the Kangjinla chromite deposit in Luobusa. It is notable that a large amount of diamonds were firstly discovered from the Kangjinla chromite deposit as well as many other unusual minerals, such as moissanites, rutiles, native irons, and metal alloys. Especially, that diamond was found again in different chromitites In the same ophiolite belt provided new key evidence for discussing the origin of the diamond and the hosted ehromitite and ophiolite. The mantle mineral group in Tibet has great significance in mineralogy and geodynamics.  相似文献

The granite collected from the Yinshan Mountain and kaolinite has been selected for the leaching and adsorption experiment,respectively,aiming to clarify the enrichment processes of Li and Ga during the deposition.Results suggest both Li and Ga could be leached out from granite by using different acid solutions of different p H and kaolinite can adsorb Li and Ga with varying degrees.Lithium and Ga had the highest leaching ratio when p H=1.Special geological events(e.g.volcanic eruptions and wildfires),which could result in very low p H values of water in peatland,may have accelerated the release of Li and Ga from the source rocks.Kaolinite has the highest adsorption fraction was obtained at p H=8.The different characteristics of Li and Ga displayed in the leaching and adsorption experiments probably result from the different occurrences and enrichment processes of Li and Ga in the coals.Lithium was probably enriched before the Li carriers(e.g.kaolinite)had been transported into paleomires because of its high leaching ratio and high adsorption fraction under neutral and alkaline conditions,whereas Ga was more likely concentrated by kaolinite and other carriers after it had been transported into the peat mires.  相似文献

The Late Precambrian Luoquan Formation occurring on the southern margin of the North China platform is of important significance for the study of the tectonics, palaeogeography, palaeoclimatology and regional stratigraphy of the North China and Yangtze platforms. The origin of diamictites of the formation has long been a subject of controversy. Recently a certain type of cross bedding structure has been recognized in the massive diamictite. Analysis of the process of deposition indicates that the structure was formed by the basal melt-out process of the glacier and, to some extent, its form is the manifestation of the primary structure of basal debris-rich glacial ice. The discovery of this sedimentary structure is inducive to the understanding and reconstruction of the features and environmental conditions for the development of the glaciers in the Luoquan Glacial Epoch.  相似文献

An investigation has been conducted of the geological and geochemical characteristics of euxenitebearing granitic veins found for the first time in China. It is shown that these veins are late intrusives in an Yah Shah granitic complex at a geosyclinal folded zone and composed mainly of medium grained biotite granite in which the local enrichment of euxenite during the late period of magmatic activity is obvious. The mineral has been found to be metamiet and chemically represent a transitional member between euxenite and polyclase. This study has provided a typical example that gralitic melts with a lower initial content of rare elements would contribute significantly to the local enrichment of rare element minerals under special external conditions.  相似文献

On the basis of exhaustive researches on the facies sequences and depositlonal evolutionary process of various depositional systems, the genetic stratigraphic framework of the extensional rifted oceanic basin, which has undergone strong structural destruction, has been reconstructed by means of dynamic genetic stratigraphic analysis. Five depositional episodes have been distinguished from various isochronous stratigraphic boundaries and stratigraphic sequences with the three-dimensional structure of each depositional episode analysed in detail. The tectonic paleogeographic environment corresponding to different stages of each depositional episode has been reconstructed for individual depositional system tracts. And the evolution history of this rifted basin has been divided into four stages' initial rifting and oceanization of continental crust, stretching and spreading of the basin, subduction and basin differentiation, and convergence and collision. This paper presents spatial variation of seismic hazard at the surface level for India,covering 6-38°N and 68-98°E.The most recent knowledge on seismic activity in the region has been used to evaluate the hazard incorporating uncertainties associated with the seismicity parameters using different modeling methodologies.Three types of seismic source models,viz.linear sources,gridded seismicity model and areal sources,were considered to model the seismic sources and different sets of ground motion prediction equations were used for different tectonic provinces to characterize the attenuation properties.The hazard estimation at bedrock level has been carried out using probabilistic approach and the results obtained from various methodologies were combined in a logic tree framework.The seismic site characterization of India was done using topographic slope map derived from Digital Elevation Model data.This paper presents estimation of the hazard at surface level,using appropriate site amplification factors corresponding to various site classes based on V_(S30) values derived from the topographic gradient.Spatial variation of surface level peak horizontal acceleration(PHA) for return periods of 475 years and 2475 years are presented as contour maps.  相似文献

Silicate perovskites((Mg, Fe)SiO 3 and CaS iO 3) are believed to be the major constituent minerals in the lower mantle. The phase relation, solid solution, spin state of iron and water solubility related to the lower mantle perovskite are of great effect on the geodynamics of the Earth's interior and on ore mineralization. Previous studies indicate that a large amount of iron coupled with aluminum can incorporate into magnesium perovskite, but this is discordant with the disproportionation of(Mg,Fe)SiO 3 perovskite into iron-free MgS i O3 perovskite and hexagonal phase(Mg0.6Fe0.4)SiO 3 in the Earth's lower mantle. MnS iO 3 is the first chemical component confirmed to form wide range solid solution with Ca SiO 3 perovskite and complete solid solution with MgS i O3 perovskite at the P-T conditions in the lower mantle, and addition of Mn Si O3 will strongly affects the mutual solubility between Mg Si O3 and CaS iO 3. The spin state of iron is deeply depends on the site occupation of the Fe3+or Fe2+, the synthesis and the annealing conditions of the sample. It seems that the spin state of Fe2+ in the lower mantle perovskite can be settled as high spin, however, the existence of intermediate spin or low spin state of Fe2+ in perovskite has not been clarified. Moreover, different results have also been reported for the spin state of Fe3+ in perovskite. The water solubility of the lower mantle perovskite is related with its composition. In pure Mg SiO 3 perovskite, only less than 500 ppm water was reported. Al–Mg Si O3 perovskite or Al–Fe–MgS iO 3 perovskite in the lower mantle accommodates water of 1100 to 1800 ppm. Further experiments are necessary to clarify the detailed conditions for perovskite solid solution, to reliably analyze the valence and spin states of iron in the coexisting iron-bearing phases, and to compare the water solubility of different phases at different layers for deeply understanding the geodynamics of the Earth's interior and ore mineralization.  相似文献

Tiermomagnetic measurements were conducted on 13 samples of Quaternary volcanic rocks of different episodes from three separate localities by Thellier‘s method.Paleointensities representing three Quaternary sub-periods have been obtained : 0.62 for early Pleistocene, 1.01 far middle Pleistocene and 1.57 for late Pleistocene as relative to today‘s magnetic field intensity. The results indicate that geomagnetic field intensity has been increasing since Pleistocene, and there exists a close relationship between the variations of paleeintensity and climatic fluctuations, i.e. the climate trends to become colder with increasing paleointensity and it is truc for the oppositc case.  相似文献

The F/Cl ratio for loess and palcosol has been studied based on the difference in the geochemical behaviour of fluorine and chlorine under hypergene conditions. The variation of F/Cl ratio in the loess section indicates a paleoclimatic evolution from humid to arid since loess accumulation. The maximum F/Cl ratio is found .in the fifth paleosol layer, reflecting an optimum climatic period for pedogenesis. The variation of F/Cl ratio is synchronous with the climatic fluctuation from warm-humid to arid-cold.  相似文献

Sediment cores were collected from the upstream of the Neath Canal in South Wales and characterized for their mineral compositions and iron speciation in order to understand the influence of sedimentary properties on the contaminants of heavy metals. The sediments in the canal have been polluted by ocherous precipitate with heavy metals such as arsenic since a major mine water discharge in spring 1993. The sediment core was obtained just from the discharge point in the canal and distinguished into three layers in the field regarding to their physical properties including visible color, sediment particle composition and dryness. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and M6ssbauer spectroscopy revealed vertical variations of minerals and iron species in depth of the sediment profile. The upper layer, reddish-brown, is wet muddy precipitant and is very fine in particle size, consisting mainly of iron oxide and hydroxide. Arsenic is rich in this layer; probably the sorption on iron oxide surface is the main mechanism. The middle layer, 22.0-27.0 cm, is soft deposit in a yellow color and contains sheet silicate, calcite and goethite. The lower part below 27.0 cm is gray to dark gray in color and contains quartz, pyrite, coal particles that are much more similar to normal aquatic sediment. The upper two layers in brown and yellow colors as newly precipitated mud from AMD contain high concentrations of As, Ni under oxic conditions. The lower part as the old canal sediments under reducing conditions contains high Cu and Zn. Chromium is enriched in the limited part of the low layer, just beneath the boundary between the middle and low parts of the sedimentary column, where the redox conditions shifted from oxic to anoxic. It is clear that the distribution of these heavy metals is closely associated with the redox condition reflected in the iron speciation. Thus different treatments are necessary for each layer of the sediment since different mineral and geochemical properties of the sediment will give different impacts on the heavy metals.  相似文献

Subsurface airflow can be induced by natural processes,such as atmospheric or barometric pressure changes, water table fluctuations,topographic effects,and rainfall infiltration.Barometric pressure fluctuations are the most common cause of subsurface airflow,which can be significant under favourable geological conditions.This process has been studied most extensively because of its application to passive soil vapor extraction.Soil airflow induced by water table fluctuations can be significant,particularly where the fluctuations are of high frequency,for example,in tidal-influenced coastal areas.Top-ographic effects can lead to strong subsoil airflow in areas with great elevation differences.Rainfall infiltration usually produces only weak airflow.Air flow induced by these natural processes has important environmental and engineering implications.Among the different processes,airflow induced by tidal fluctuations has been studied the least,although it has exciting applications to coastal engineering projects and environmental remediation.  相似文献

The Bengal Basin has been exposed to the most serious As problem in the world. Although it has been agreed well among many researchers that the contamination has been induced by natural geochemical process, detailed mechanisms are still under debate. Arsenic is easily soluble into groundwater as pentavalent arsenate and trivalent arsenite. Their adsorption behavior for various solid phases, particularly for Fe oxyhydroxide (FeOOH), is different. Thus speciation of As in solid phase is essential to examine the process of contamination. However, few studies have been done about As speciation in sediment due to its analytical difficulty. In this study, we applied XANES (X-ray adsorption near the edge structure) spectroscopy to determine oxidation states of As and Fe, and investigate As behavior along change in redox condition. We studied the Sonargaon area located 25 km southeast of Dhaka. Sediment core samples were collected from one site in the area up to the depth of 100 m using penetration-drilling method.
