Observations of the structure of the radio galaxy 3C338 at decameter wavelengths obtained using the URAN-1 and URAN-2 radio interferometers are presented. The structure of this object at these wavelengths differs appreciably from images obtained at higher frequencies. The most probable simple models for the radio brightness distributions at 25 and 20 MHz are determined: two extended components with sizes from 40″ to 50″ whose centers are separated by 90″–100″ in position angle about 100°, and a single compact component 9″×4″ in size, whose flux density does not exceed 10% of the total flux density of the radio galaxy.  相似文献

We report the results of new observations of three anomalous X-ray pulsars: 1E 2259+586, 4U 0142+61, and XTE J1810-197. The observations were carried out on high-sensitivity radio telescopes of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory: the Large Phased Array at 111MHz and the DKR-1000 at 62 MHz. New, digital, multi-channel receivers designed for pulsar observations were used. Pulse profiles and dynamical spectra for the three pulsars are presented. The mean flux density for XTE J1810-197 is estimated to be ∼160 mJy at 62 MHz. An estimated spectral index for this pulsar is also presented.  相似文献

The results of observations of the radio emission profiles of the Geminga pulsar at 102.5, 87, 58, and 39 MHz are reported. Individual pulses are presented for the first time, and rare occasions of strong emission over the entire pulsar rotation period have been detected. A detailed analysis of the shapes, durations, and arrival phases of the pulses at 102.5 MHz is presented. These data reflect the unique character of the radio emission of Geminga.  相似文献

Simultaneous dual-frequency observations of giant radio pulses from the millisecond pulsar B1937+21 were performed for the first time in January–February 2002 on the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (2210–2250 MHz) and the 64-m Kalyazin radio telescope (1414–1446 MHz). The total observing time was about three hours. Ten giant pulses with peak flux densities from 600 to 1800 Jy were detected at 2210–2250 MHz, and fifteen giant pulses with peak flux densities from 3000 to 10000 Jy were observed at 1414–1446 MHz. No events were found to occur simultaneously at both frequencies. Thus, the observed radio spectra of individual giant pulses of this pulsar are limited in frequency to scales of about \(\frac{{\Delta v}}{v} < 0.5\). The duration of the giant pulses is less than 100 ns and is consistent with the expected scattering timescale in these frequency ranges. Instantaneous radio spectra of the detected giant pulses were compared with the diffractive spectra obtained from ordinary pulses of the pulsar. In some cases, considerable deviations of the radio spectra of the giant pulses from the diffractive spectrum were revealed, which can be interpreted as indicating temporal structure of the giant pulses on timescales of 10–100 ns.  相似文献

An analysis of observations obtained over 26 years beginning in 1992 have indicated the appearance of sinusoidal variations with a period of about 12 years in the residual deviations of the pulse arrival times (PATs) for the pulsar PSR B0943+10. This behavior in the PAT residuals could be due to the influence of a planet orbiting the pulsar. These observations were carried out on the Large Scanning Antenna of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory at 112 MHz.

The spectra and visibility functions of giant pulses of the Crab Nebula pulsar derived from VLBI observations carried out through the “RadioAstron” project in 2015 are analyzed. Parameters of the scattering of the pulses in the interstellar medium are measured, namely, the scattering time and decorrelation bandwidth. A comparative analysis of the shapes of the spectra and visibility functions of giant pulses obtained in real observations and via modeling of their scattering is carried out. The results suggest the presence of short bursts (dt < 30 ns) in the structure of the giant pulses at 1668 MHz, whose brightness temperatures exceed 1038 K. These pulses propagate in the pulsar magnetosphere in a strong electromagneticwave regime, leading to the generation of additional radiation perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the giant pulses. This radiation may be associated with anomalous components of the mean pulse profile observed at frequencies above 4 GHz.  相似文献

The results of simultaneous multifrequency observations of giant radio pulses from the Crab pulsar, PSR B0531+21, at 23, 111, and 600 MHz are presented and analyzed. Giant pulses were detected at a frequency as low as 23 MHz for the first time. Of the 45 giant pulses detected at 23 MHz, 12 were identified with counterparts observed simultaneously at 600 MHz. Of the 128 giant pulses detected at 111 MHz, 21 were identified with counterparts observed simultaneously at 600 MHz. The spectral indices for the power-law frequency dependence of the giant-pulse energies are from ?3.1 to ?1.6. The mean spectral index is ?2.7 ± 0.1 and is the same for both frequency combinations (600–111 MHz and 600–23 MHz). The large scatter in the spectral indices of the individual pulses and the large number of unidentified giant pulses suggest that the spectra of the individual giant pulses do not actually follow a simple power law. The observed shapes of the giant pulses at all three frequencies are determined by scattering on interstellar plasma inhomogeneities. The scatter-broadening of the pulses and its frequency dependence were determined as τ sc = 20(ν/100)?3.5±0.1 ms, where frequency ν is in MHz.  相似文献

We present an analysis of pulsar observations carried out on two frequency channels at 1634 MHz and 1650 MHz with a time resolution of 62.5 ns on the 70-m radio telescope of the NASA Deep Space Network in Tidbinbilla. The data were recorded using the S2 system, intended primarily for VLBI observations. Microstructure with characteristic timescales of 270, 80, and 150 µs was detected in pulsars B0833-45, B1749-28, and B1933 + 16, respectively. The distribution of microstructure timescales for the Vela pulsar (B0833-45) is characterized by a gradual growth with decreasing timescale to 200 µs; the distribution has a maximum at 20–200 µs and falls off sharply for timescales below 20 µs. The statistical relation between the microstructure modulation index m and the corresponding timescale τµ can be approximated by the power law dependence Rτ 0.5 ; i.e., the intensity is higher for micropulses with longer durations. This contradicts the predictions of nonlinear models for the formation of micropulses by supercompact soliton wave packets. In all the pulsars studied, the time delays of the micropulses between the two frequency channels deviate from the expected dispersion laws for the interstellar plasma. In particular, the micropulses in the low-frequency channel arrive earlier than predicted by the dispersion measures derived previously from the mean pulse profiles. The deviation from the dispersion delay is determined most accurately for B0833-45, and is 4.9±0.2 µs. Such anomalous delays are probably associated with the effects of propagation of the radio emission within the pulsar magnetosphere.  相似文献

In the course of monitoring interplanetary scintillations of a large number of sources using the Big Scanning Antenna of the Lebedev Physical Institute, a search for pulsars with periods ≥0.4 s at declinations ?9? < δ < 42? and right ascensions 0h < α < 24h was simultaneously carried out. The search was conducted using four years of observations carried out at 110.25MHz in six frequency channels making up a 2.5 MHz band and having a time resolution of 100 ms. The initial identification of pulsar candidates was done using Fourier power spectra averaged over the entire observational period; the pulsar candidates were then verified using observations with higher frequency and time resolution: 32 frequency channels and a time resolution of 12.5 ms. Eighteen new pulsars were discovered in the studied area, whose main characteristics are presented.  相似文献

The detection of pulsed radio emission from the X-ray pulsar AXP 4U 0142+61 with a period of P = 8.68832935(6) s and a period derivative of $ \dot P $ \dot P = 18.713(4) × 10−13 s/s is reported. The observations were carried out on two high-sensitivity radio telescopes of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory: the Large Phased Array at 111MHz and the DKR-1000 at 40MHz.Mean pulse profiles are presented; the measured flux density is S 111 = 30 ± 20 mJy. The estimated distance derived from the dispersion measure, 27 pc/cm3, is 1.4 kpc, and the integrated radio luminosity is L R = 1.5 × 1027 erg/cm. Comparison with X-ray data shows an appreciable difference in the pulse duration (the radio pulse is about a factor of 20 more narrow) and strong variations in the flux density.  相似文献

The detection of pulsed radio emission from the recently discovered X-ray pulsar J0205+6449 in the young supernova remnant 3C 58 is reported together with the results of first studies of this emission. The observations were carried out at 111 and 88 MHz on radio telescopes of the Pushchino Observatory. The pulsar period, 65.68 ms, and period derivative, \(\dot P = 1.9 \times 10^{ - 13} \), have been confirmed. The integrated pulse profile at 111 MHz has been obtained and the flux density and spectral index α=2.8 measured. The pulsar dispersion measure DM=141 pc cm?3 has been confirmed. This dispersion measure yields a distance to the pulsar of d=6.4 kpc, a factor of two or more greater than the previously favored distance to the supernova remnant 3C 58 (2.6 kpc). The problem of the age and distance of the pulsar-SNR system is discussed. If the age of the pulsar J0205+6449 is equal to that of the SNR (820 years), this pulsar is the youngest known radio pulsar. The synchrotron mechanism for the radio and X-ray emission is proposed to explain the lower radio and X-ray luminosity of this new pulsar compared to the Crab pulsar, which is similar to it in many ways. Optical emission with luminosity Lopt=1031 erg/s and gamma-ray emission with Lγ=7×1035 erg/s are predicted, and the steep radio spectrum (α≈3) can be explained.  相似文献

The paper presents an analysis of dual-polarization observations of the Crab pulsar obtained on the 64-m Kalyazin radio telescope at 600 MHz with a time resolution of 250 ns. A lower limit for the intensities of giant pulses is estimated by assuming that the pulsar radio emission in the main pulse and interpulse consists entirely of giant radio pulses; this yields estimates of 100 and 35 Jy for the peak flux densities of giant pulses arising in the main pulse and interpulse, respectively. This assumes that the normal radio emission of the pulse occurs in the precursor pulse. In this case, the longitudes of the giant radio pulses relative to the profile of the normal radio emission turn out to be the same for the Crab pulsar and the millisecond pulsar B1937+21, namely, the giant pulses arise at the trailing edge of the profile of the normal radio emission. Analysis of the distribution of the degree of circular polarization for the giant pulses suggests that they can consist of a random mixture of nanopulses with 100% circular polarization of either sign, with, on average, hundreds of such nanopulses within a single giant pulse.  相似文献

The results of an analysis of timing data for the pulsar PSR B0329+54 obtained in 1968–2012 on the Large Scanning Antenna of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory at 111 MHz, the 64 m DSS-14 telescope of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at 2.3 GHz, and the 64 m telescope of the Kalyazin Radio Astronomy Observatory at 610 MHz are presented. The astrometric and spin parameters of the pulsar are derived at a new epoch. The coordinates of the pulsar and its proper motion measured at the three frequencies differ. These differences have a systematic character, and are interpreted as a secular, refractive shift in the apparent position of the pulsar that arises because it is observed through large-scale inhomogeneities of the interstellar medium, leading to variations in the angle of refraction.  相似文献

The pulse structure of the pulsar B1822-09 has been studied at 112, 62, and 42 MHz. The observations were conducted in 2010 on the Large Scanning Antenna and the DKR-1000 radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory. The shape of the main pulse and interpulse undergo considerable changes at low radio frequencies. In the main pulse, the precursor disappears and is replaced by a new component that trails 50 ms behind the main component. At 62 MHz, the interpulse acquires a pronounced two-peaked shape. At 62 and 112 MHz, as well as at higher frequencies, the brighter second component of the interpulse follows the main pulse at 185° and has a relative amplitude of about 5%. The main pulse width changes with frequency according to the power law W 0.5ν −0.15 in the frequency range 42–4750-MHz. The interpulse width follows this law only in the range 325–4750 MHz; at 112, 102, and 62 MHz, the interpulse is almost a factor of three broader than themain pulse. The parameters of the pulse’s scattering on interstellar plasma inhomogeneities and the initial pulse width before it enters the scattering medium have been measured at 62 and 42 MHz. The frequency dependence of the characteristic scale for scattering of the pulses of B1822-09 corresponds to a Kolmogorov spectrum for the electron-density fluctuations in the interstellar medium in the direction toward this pulsar.  相似文献

Times of switches from the normal to the abnormal radiation mode have been recorded in observations of individual pulses of pulsar B0329+54 using the Large Phased Array of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory at 111.4 MHz. The variations in the amplitudes of the outer components that accompany the switch to the abnormal pulse profile occurred simultaneously in only half the cases. The phase of component IV of the integrated pulse does not vary during mode switches. In half the cases, instantaneous variations of the phases of component I and the central component during mode switches may be preceeded by additional smooth variations of the phases of individual pulses occuring over several minutes. We detected a decrease in the linear polarization of the central component by, on average, 8% in the abnormal mode for the integrated pulse, due to variations in the relative intensities of two orthogonally polarized modes of the pulsar radiation.  相似文献

Results of a new series of observations of the anomalous pulsar B0943+10 carried out on the Large Scanning Antenna and DKR-1000 radio telescope of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory at 112 and 62 MHz, respectively, are presented. Several hundred pulse-arrival times (PATs) obtained on various days in 2013–2016 that correspond to the burst (B) mode emission are analyzed. A method for establishing the many-hour pulse shift in the emission window from 3.5-minute fragments is proposed. The delay of the mean pulse relative to the pre-calculated value follows an exponential law with a relaxation time of about 47 minutes. The pulse delay grows by 6 ms during the five hours following the onset of a burst. The random scatter of the residual PAT deviations is comparable to the amplitude of the systematic variations in these times over the lifetime of the B mode. These observations show that the character of the pulse delay as a function of time is the same at 112 and 62 MHz.  相似文献

Observations on the RadioAstron ground–space interferometer with the participation of the Green Bank and Arecibo ground telescopes at 1668 MHz have enabled studies of the characteristics of the interstellar plasma in the direction of the pulsar PSR B0525+21. The maximum projected baseline for the ground–space interferometer was 233 600 km. The scintillations in these observations were strong, and the spectrum of inhomogeneties in the interstellar plasma was a power law with index n = 3.74, corresponding to a Kolmogorov spectrum. A new method for estimating the size of the scattering disk was applied to estimate the scattering angle (scattering disk radius) in the direction toward PSR B0525+21, θ scat = 0.028 ± 0.002 milliarcsecond. The scattering in this direction occurs in a plasma layer located at a distance of 0.1Z from the pulsar, where Z is the distance from the pulsar to the observer. For the adopted distance Z = 1.6 kpc, the screen is located at a distance of 1.44 kpc from the observer.  相似文献

Radio observations of the Crab pulsar were performed on the 100-m radio telescope of the Green Bank Observatory at a frequency of 2100 MHz in a 64-MHz band in two channels with right-and left-circular polarization. The Mark5A recording system was used. During 15 min of observing time, 609 giant pulses were recorded; the brightest had a peak flux density of 670 kJy. The energy distribution has been constructed, polarization properties have been analyzed, and the characteristic temporal and frequency scales in the radio emission of the detected giant pulses have been found. Comparison of these parameters indicates that the properties of giant pulses detected at the main-pulse and interpulse longitudes do not differ, as is clearly observed at frequencies above 4 GHz. Probable origins of the frequency evolution of the properties of giant pulses are discussed.  相似文献

Observations of the anomalous X-ray pulsar (AXP) 1E 2259+586 and the AXP candidate 1RXS J1308.6+212708 at 111, 87, and 61 MHz are reported. The observations were carried out on two high-sensitivity radio telescopes of the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory. Mean pulse profiles are presented, and the dispersion measures, distances, spectral indices, and integrated radio luminosities of both objects are estimated. Comparison with X-ray data shows large differences in the mean pulse widths and luminosities. The detection of radio emission from these two AXPs, together with other data, suggests the need to revise the radio-emission mechanisms in the magnetar model or the magnetar model itself.  相似文献
