Relationships between jet physics and the evolutionary phases of radio galaxies are discussed. This includes the connection between the properties of relativistic jets and the Fanaroff–Riley classes of radio galaxies and the interaction of jets with the interstellar medium in Gigahertz Peak Spectrum and Compact Steep Spectrum Radio Sources. Jets in Seyfert galaxies are compared with those in classical radio galaxies and recent work suggesting that there are major differences between the two types of jets is summarized. The proposed major differences are principally that Seyfert jets are thermally dominated with subrelativistic speeds whereas Radio Galaxy jets are relativistic electron/positron flows. Hence, the production of jets in Seyferts and radio galaxies are fundamentally different.  相似文献

Network magnetic fields, ephemeral active regions, and intranetwork magnetic fields are illustrated and discussed in several contexts. First, they are presented in relation to the appearance and disappearance of magnetic flux. Second, their properties in common with all solar magnetic features are discussed. Third, their distinguishing characteristics are emphasized. Lastly, their interactions are illustrated.Network magnetic fields are no longer considered to be just the aged remnants of active regions. The network is the dynamic product of the merging and cancelling of intranetwork fields, ephemeral regions, and the remnants of active regions. Intranetwork fields are magnetic fields of mixed polarity that appear to originate continuously from localized source sites in between the network. The intranetwork magnetic fields are characterized by flow of successive fragments in approximately radial patterns away from their apparent source sites and by the relative weakness of their magnetic fields. Ephemeral active regions are small, new bipoles that grow as a unit or a succession of bipolar units and whose poles move in opposite directions from their apparent site of origin. We report the results of a CCD search for short-period variables in the field of a southern globular cluster NGC 6362. We identified 19 new candidate variables, five of which are cluster RR Lyraes, four are probable SX Phe-type stars and eight are eclipsing binaries. Of the discovered binaries, three are EA-type systems, two of which are located on the cluster CMD in the turn-off region and the third 1 mag above the turn-off point, in the yellow straggler region. Five other systems are of W UMa type, three of which are foreground objects and two are likely cluster members. The remaining two candidates exhibit a modulation of the brightness level with an amplitude of 0.1–0.2 mag; further observations are needed to reveal the nature of their variability. Phased VI light curves for 20 variables (18 RR Lyrae stars and two blue stragglers) located in the central region of the cluster are presented.  相似文献

The dynamics of clumps observed in planetary nebulae are considered. The possibility that SiO maser spots in evolved stars and the planetary nebula clumps are formed by the Parker instability behind shocks in pulsating stars' atmospheres is raised. Molecular observations of the clumps are suggested. The effects of the ablation of clumps on the global flow structure of a more tenuous plasma in which they are embedded are reviewed.  相似文献

We use the random forest to regress the surface effective temperatures of stars in APOGEE from SDSS DR16 and LAMOST DR6. When the NUV-u, u-g, g-r, r-i, i-J, J-H, H-K, K-WISE_4_5 magnitudes are used as machine learning features, the coefficient of determination of regression are 94.91% in APOGEE and 90.46% in LAMOST. The standard deviation of the prediction and pipeline temperatures are 93.89K in APOGEE and 113.10K in LAMOST. When the NUV-J, J-H, H-K, K-WISE_4_5 magnitudes are used as features, the coefficient of determination of regression are 94.37% in APOGEE and 88.89% in LAMOST. The standard deviation is 96.59K in APOGEE and 119.92K in LAMOST. The J-H magnitudes are the most important feature to predict the effective temperatures, and the NUV-J magnitudes are the second important feature. The NUV-J, J-H, H-K, K-WISE_4_5 magnitudes are from the all-sky survey and can be employed widely to regress the effective temperatures of stars.  相似文献

Acoustic solitons are investigated in electron-positron plasmas containing equal hot and cool components of both species. The hot components are isothermal Boltzmann distributed, the cool constituents are modelled by adiabatic fluids. The equations are integrated exactly in terms of a Sagdeev potential. Solitons are shown to be possible, but no double layers, due to the symmetry in the model. Bearing in mind the constraints imposed by the Boltzmann assumption, small amplitude solitons only are found. Such findings are relevant for different kinds of astrophysical plasmas, as well as for other types of similar acoustic solitons.  相似文献

Some new interesting solutions, the dynamics, behaviour and phenomena of rotating charged perfect fluid models are investigated, and their physical and geometrical properties are studied in order to substantiate the possibility of the existence of such astrophysical bodies in this Universe. The nature and role of the metric rotation Ω(r,t) as well as that of the matter rotation ω(r,t) are studied for uniform and non-uniform motions. The reactions of the gravitational and charged fields with respect to the rotational motion are studied and possible results are explored for real astrophysical situations, and in some solutions we find the spatial restrictions on the models for realistic conditions. Rotating models which are expanding are obtained in which the rotational motions are decaying with time.  相似文献

Observations of regular and irregular polarimetric variability in late-type stars are reviewed, and the related physical and geometrical effects are discussed. There are indications that the irregular part of the variability could be caused by transient events, possibly associated with flares. Polarimetric observations during flares are reviewed, and preliminary results of new observations of a well-known flare star, YY Geminorum, are presented. The results show that the small flare in YY Gem did not cause any significant variations in linear polarization, while the binary eclipse evidently causes an enhancement in the polarization. The reasons for the difficulties in stellar flare polarimetry are discussed. Finally, future prospects for the observations of flaring stars and for the utilization of linear polarimetry as a complementary method to other techniques of surface imaging of stellar activity and flares are presented.  相似文献

It is logically possible that early two-body relaxation in simulations of cosmological clustering influences the final structure of massive clusters. Convergence studies in which mass and spatial resolution are simultaneously increased cannot eliminate this possibility. We test the importance of two-body relaxation in cosmological simulations with simulations in which there are two species of particles. The cases of two mass ratios, √2:1 and 4:1, are investigated. Simulations are run with both a spatially fixed softening length and adaptive softening using the publicly available codes gadget and mlapm , respectively.
The effects of two-body relaxation are detected in both the density profiles of haloes and the mass function of haloes. The effects are more pronounced with a fixed softening length, but even in this case they are not so large as to suggest that results obtained with one mass species are significantly affected by two-body relaxation.
The simulations that use adaptive softening are less affected by two-body relaxation and produce slightly higher central densities in the largest haloes. They run about three times faster than the simulations that use a fixed softening length.  相似文献

The interaction of a conducting body moving through the ionosphere with the surrounding plasma is treated numerically. The Poisson and Vlasov equations are solved using computer techniques to give information about the redistribution of charged particles in the wake behind the body and the perturbation of the electric potential sheaths around the body. Three cases of interest are studied: body size less than, equal to, and greater than the Debye length in the surrounding plasma. A range of body potentials and ion Mach numbers are considered which are typical of conditions found in the ionosphere. Wake features, such as ion-free wake lengths and angles of propagation of disturbances in the wakes, are investigated for these conditions. Physical pictures of the mechanisms of wake formation behind a plate and a disc are built up for the three classes of body size, and differences due to geometry or size are explained. The smaller bodies are comparable in size to instrument booms, diagnostic probes, antennae, etc. and the larger bodies approach the dimensions of ionospheric satellites and space probes.  相似文献

Trajectories of test particles are studied numerically in two types of reconnection magnetic field configurations, a single X-line magnetic field configuration and a tearing magnetic field configuration. Both adiabatic and nonadiabatic motions are examined, with special emphasis on net energy gain and time spent in the neutral line regions. They spend typically one characteristic gyroperiod in the X-line region and are ejected predominantly along field lines in the vicinity of the separatrix. Both adiabatic and nonadiabatic test particles in the tearing-type field configuration are channelled into and accelerated along the O-line region. It may be inferred from these test particle results that particle energizations are significant along the O-line region, but not along the X-line region. These results are in qualitative agreement with those obtained by a self-consistent particle simulation.  相似文献

最近的多普勒观测表明恒星HD 12661周围存在两颗中等偏心率轨道上运行的行星,内行星的最小质量为2.3木星质量,轨道周期为263.6天;外行星的最小质量为1.57木星质量,轨道周期为1444.5天.该系统的稳定性要求两颗行星处在平运动轨道共振.用数值方法研究了该系统形成初期在恒星气体盘作用下的轨道迁移与稳定性,计算了行星在迁移中被平运动共振俘获的概率.发现这两颗行星目前很可能正处在11:2平运动共振边缘,且运动是混沌的,从而澄清了关于系统目前构形的不同说法,并且很可能在系统形成后行星迁移到目前构形时,气体盘几乎消失了.  相似文献

XUV spectroheliograms of 2 active regions are studied. The images are due to lines emitted at temperatures between 8 x 104 K and 2 x 106 K and thus are indicative of transition region and coronal structures. The hot coronal lines are formed solely in loop structures which connect regions of opposite photospheric magnetic polarity but are not observed over sunspots. Transition region lines are emitted in plages overlying regions of intense photospheric magnetic field and in loops or loop-segments connecting such regions. The hot coronal loops are supported hydrostatically while only some of the transition zone loops are. The coronal and transition zone loops are distinctly separated and are not coaxial. A comparison of direct measurements of electron densities using density sensitive line ratios with indirect measurements using emission measures and path lengths shows the existence of fine structures of less than a second of arc in transition region loops. From a similar analysis, hot coronal loops do not have any fine structure below about 2 seconds of arc.  相似文献

The head-on collision between positron acoustic solitary waves (PASWs) as well as the production of rogue waves (RWs) in homogeneous and PASWs in inhomogeneous unmagnetized plasma systems are investigated deriving the nonlinear evolution equations. The plasmas are composed of immobile positive ions, mobile cold and hot positrons, and hot electrons, where the hot positrons and hot electrons are assumed to follow the Kappa distributions. The evolution equations are derived using the appropriate coordinate transformation and the reductive perturbation technique. The effects of concentrations, kappa parameters of hot electrons and positrons, and temperature ratios on the characteristics of PASWs and RWs are examined. It is found that the kappa parameters and temperature ratios significantly modify phase shifts after head-on collisions and RWs in homogeneous as well as PASWs in inhomogeneous plasmas. The amplitudes of the PASWs in inhomogeneous plasmas are diminished with increasing kappa parameters, concentration and temperature ratios. Further, the amplitudes of RWs are reduced with increasing charged particles concentration, while it enhances with increasing kappa- and temperature parameters. Besides, the compressive and rarefactive solitons are produced at critical densities from KdV equation for hot and cold positrons, while the compressive solitons are only produced from mKdV equation for both in homogeneous and inhomogeneous plasmas.  相似文献

Observations of the Fe I line are used to simulate spatial and temporal pressure variations in the solar photosphere. The local internal gravity waves, which are essentially structures that are quasi-periodic in space (on granular and mesogranular scales) and time and propagate along inclined paths at subsonic velocities, are isolated by appropriate filtering. The phase and group velocities of the wave trains are orthogonal; their z-projections are of the opposite sign.  相似文献

Observational results are presented for Jupiter and its Galilean moons from the Normal Astrograph at Pulkovo Observatory in 2013–2015. The following data are obtained: 154 positions of the Galilean satellites and 47 calculated positions of Jupiter in the system of the UCAC4 (ICRS, J2000.0) catalogue; the differential coordinates of the satellites relative to one another are determined. The mean errors of the satellites’ normal places in right ascension and declination over the entire observational period are, respectively: εα = 0.0065″ and εδ = 0.0068″, and their standard deviations are σα = 0.0804″ and σδ = 0.0845″. The equatorial coordinates are compared with planetary and satellite motion theories. The average (O–C) residuals in the two coordinates relative to the motion theories are 0.05″ or less. The best agreement with the observations is achieved by a combination of the EPM2011m and V. Lainey-V.2.0|V1.1 motion theories; the average (O–C) residuals are 0.03″ or less. The (O–C) residuals for the features of the positions of Io and Ganymede are comparable with measurement errors. Jupiter’s positions calculated from the observations of the satellites and their theoretical jovicentric coordinates are in good agreement with the motion theories. The (О–С) residuals for Jupiter’s coordinates are, on average, 0.027″ and–0.025″ in the two coordinates.  相似文献

Weight functions for the non-adiabatic radial pulsations are introduced. It is shown from behavior of these functions that the pulsation periods in classical Cepheids are determined essentially in the adiabatic region of stellar envelopes and, on the other hand, those of low surface-gravity models are strongly affected in the region where the acoustic waves are strongly coupled with the radiation fields. The fact is important for understanding basic difference of the pulsation properties between classical Cepheids and low surfacegravity models.The non-adiabatic weight functions deviate from adiabatic ones in two ways in the stellar envelope layers. In the region where the acoustic waves are tightly coupled with radiation fields, the non-adiabatic weight functions have larger values than the corresponding adiabatic ones. On the contrary, the functions are smaller in the outer isothermal region.These results are discussed from the viewpoint on the propagation of the acoustic waves in radiation nelds.  相似文献

Changes in the average surface temperature of Mars are studied as a function of the time that has elapsed since the origin of the planet. Time variations in the factors influencing the surface temperature are investigated: and approximate methods for computing the effect of such variations are discussed. The restricted 2+2 body problem is considered. The infinitesimal masses are replaced by triaxial rigid bodies and the equations of motion are derived in Lagrange form. Subsequently, the equilibrium solutions for the rotational and translational motion of the bodies are detected. These solutions are conveniently classified in groups according to the several combinations which are possible between the translational equilibria and the constant orientations of the bodies.  相似文献
