XVth INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY AND REMOTE SENSING

The XVth International Congress of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, organised by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, was held at Rio Centro. Rio de Janeiro from 17th to 29th June, 1984. Reports on the activities of the seven technical Commissions as well as on the Exhibition and the General Assembly were given to a meeting of the Photogrammetric Society on 16th October, 1984. Papers were published in the International Archives of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing 25.     

XVIth INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY AND REMOTE SENSING

The XVIth International Congress of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, organised by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, was held in the Kyoto International Conference Hall from 1st to 10th July, 1988. The activities of the seven technical commissions of ISPRS were described at a meeting of the Photogrammetric Society on 18th October, 1988. The meeting also heard about the Congress Exhibition and the deliberations of the General Assembly during the Congress. Papers from the Congress were published in the International Archives of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing 27.     

THE USE OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY AND REMOTE SENSING FOR FORESTRY IN GREAT BRITAIN

The Forestry Commission needs information on the woodland cover of the country, both as general assessment of all ownerships for woodland census purposes and as detailed crop data on its own forest estate for management purposes. These survey requirements are outlined and the methods used for data collection are described, particular attention being given to the role of aerial survey. The development of a digital mapping system is also covered. Finally, the potential role of other remote sensing techniques and the trials currently in progress are discussed.     

REMOTE SENSING AND PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN TREATY VERIFICATION: PRESENT CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS FOR THE FUTURE

Treaty verification involves the acquisition and interpretation of data to establish a country's compliance to an agreement. Remote sensing and photogrammetry in verification is established in the intelligence community and is progressively entering the civilian sector as well. The Open Skies Treaty and the proliferation of commercial satellite imagery have created a niche for open, multilateral verification. These recent developments come at an opportune moment as the verification task has become more cumbersome and complex. This paper surveys the changes in the field of verification, aerial monitoring and satellite surveillance. It details existing and future verification tasks and presents the operational capabilities for fulfilling those tasks. The limiting factors are also presented.

开拓进取再创辉煌--武汉大学遥感信息工程学院建设发展思考

回顾了武汉大学遥感信息工程学院近几年来在遥感科学与技术新专业设置、科研建设成果、教学改革、教材建设和人才培养等方面的情况，介绍了摄影测量与遥感重点学科今后三年的建设目标和发展方向。     

摄影测量与遥感技术在建立数字中国中的作用

本文阐述了建立数字中国的关键是建立国家窄问数据基础设施，同时阐述了国家空间数据基础设施建立的可能性。借此认识到摄影测量与遥感对数字中国的建立起着至关重要的作用。     

国外灾害遥感应用研究现状

灾害遥感(调查和监测)是遥感技术应用及研究的一个重要方面。本文根据大量的资料及笔者在国外参加的工作,对经济发达国家及部分第三世界国家将遥感技术用于灾害监测、预报、预警以及在减少灾害损失方面所进行的主要工作及取得的效益作一概略介绍。
