This study presents the mineralogical, textural and geochemical characteristics of the regional Maastrichtian Ajali Sandstone in Anambra Basin, SE Nigeria. The intent is to highlight possible constraints on the chemical weathering conditions of the source materials on one hand, and to infer the provenance on the other hand. The investigation approach involved field studies and collection of samples from 12 different outcrop locations, followed by laboratory studies involving grain-size analysis (GSA), major and trace elements analyses using the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) method as well as thin section petrography. Field studies show that the sandstones are friable at all locations and range in color from white in freshly cut stone, to reddish brown on weathering. In addition, the sandstone units are cross-bedded and show graded bedding exemplified by fining upward sequence. Textural examination indicates that the sandstones range from fine to medium sands, constituting about 76 to 99% sand fraction, with graphic mean grain size of 0.23 to 0.53 mm. Standard deviation (sorting) ranges from 0.56 to 1.24 Ø and implies moderately well sorted sediments. Inferred from the textural indices, the depo-environmental discrimination of the Ajali Sandstone revealed a fluvial/river system-dominated sedimentary process. The sandstones are quartz arenite with quartz greater than 90% and less than 5% K-feldspar which indicate a predominant basement source as also revealed by the heavy mineral assemblages. In addition, major elemental oxides shows SiO2 content greater than 96% for the fresh Ajali Sandstone samples with extreme depletion of mobile oxides such as Na2O, CaO and the ferromagnesian minerals through weathering and sedimentary processes. Provenance and tectonic setting discrimination using geochemical data and compositional maturity revealed typical felsic igneous-dominated cratonic environment while inter-elemental ratios (such as Zr/Cr, Y/Ni, Th/Sc, La/Sc and La/Co) and ternary plots (e.g. Th–Sc–Zr; La-Th–Sc and Th-Co-Zr) reflect passive continental margin setting for the Ajali Sandstone. Consequently, the source area is constrained to the Precambrian basement rock units of Adamawa-Oban massif areas to the east of the Anambra Basin and the adjacent Abakaliki Anticlinorium. 相似文献

Hydrochemical investigations in the Kalambaina Formation have been initiated to determine potability and suitability of the shallow groundwater for domestic and agricultural uses. This limestone formation is an extensive aquifer supplying water to livestock and domestic wells in its outcrop areas. The aquifer is recharged by rainfall and discharges mainly into the Sokoto–Rima River system and lakes at Kware, Gwadabawa and Kalmalo in Nigeria. Because recharge to the aquifer is mainly from rainfall, the quality of the groundwater is controlled essentially by chemical processes in the vadose zone and locally by human activities. Water samples were taken at 11 sites comprising boreholes, dug wells and a spring and were chemically analysed for their major ion components. Hydrochemical results show water of fairly good quality. It is, however, hard and generally of moderate dissolved solids content. Concentration of the total dissolved solids is between 130 and 2,340 mg/l. Concentrations of ions vary widely but a high concentration of K+ is found in places. NO3− is on the higher side of the World Health Organization (WHO) permissible limits, indicating pollution in such areas. Groundwater chemistry is predominantly of two facies, namely the calcium–magnesium–bicarbonate and calcium–magnesium–sulphate–chloride facies. These facies probably evolved primarily as a result of dissolution of calcium and magnesium carbonates as well as some human/land-use activities. 相似文献

The Maastrichtian Patti Formation, which consists of shale - claystone and sandstone members, constitutes one of the three Upper Cretaceous lithostratigraphic units of the intracratonic southeastern Bida Basin, in central Nigeria. Well exposed outcrops of this formation were investigated at various locations around the confluence of the Niger and Benue Rivers. The lithostratigraphic sections were measured and their peculiar sedimentological features such as textures, physical and biogenic sedimentary structures, facies variations and associations were documented and used to interpret the depositional environments and develop a paleogeographic model. Some selected representative samples of the sedimentary depositional facies were also subjected to grain size analysis.Three shoreline sedimentary depositional facies composed of shoreface, tidal channel, and tidal marsh to coastal swamp facies were recognized in the study area. Continental sedimentary depositional facies such as fluvial channel, swamp, and overbank were also documented. The sandstones of the shoreface and tidal channel facies are medium- to coarse-grained, moderately sorted (standard deviation ranges from 0.45–1.28 averaging 0.72), and quartzarenitic. The fluvial channel sandstone facies are coarse- to very coarse-grained, mostly poorly sorted (standard deviation ranges from 0.6–1.56 averaging 1.17), and subarkosic. Typical sedimentary structures displayed by the shoreface and tidal channel facies include burrows, clay drapes, hummocky and herringbone cross stratifications, whereas the fluvial channel sandstone facies are dominated by massive and planar cross beddings. The tidal marsh to coastal swamp shales and ferruginised siltstone facies are fossiliferous and bioturbated, whereas the nonmarine swamp siltstones contain vegetal imprints and lignite interbeds. The overbank claystone facies are massive and kaolinitic.In the study area, a regressive to transgressive model is proposed for the Patti Formation. This model correlates with stratigraphically equivalent sediments of the Ajali and Mamu Formations in the adjacent Anambra Basin to a great extent. 相似文献

The Zhangye Basin, located in arid northwest China, is an important agricultural and industrial center. In recent years rapid
development has created an increased demand for water, which is increasingly being fulfilled by groundwater abstraction. Detailed
knowledge of the geochemical evolution of groundwater and water quality can enhance understanding of the hydrochemical system,
promoting sustainable development and effective management of groundwater resources. To this end, a hydrochemical investigation
was conducted in the Zhangye Basin. Types of shallow groundwater in the Zhangye Basin were found to be HCO3
−, HCO3
−–SO4
2−, SO4
2−–HCO3
−, SO4
2−–Cl−, Cl−–SO4
2− and Cl− . The deep aquifer groundwater type was found to be HCO3−–SO42− throughout the entire area. Ionic ratio and saturation index calculations suggest that silicate rock weathering and evaporation
deposition are the main processes that determine the ionic composition in the study area. The suitability of the groundwater
for irrigation was assessed based on the US Salinity Laboratory salinity classification and the Wilcox diagram. In the study
area, the compositions of the stable isotopes δ18O and δD in groundwater samples were found to range from −4.00 to −9.28‰ and from −34.0 to −65.0‰, respectively. These values
indicate that precipitation is the main recharge source for the groundwater system; some local values indicate high levels
of evaporation. Tritium analysis was used to estimate the ages of the different groundwaters; the tritium values of the groundwater
samples varied from 3.13 to 36.62 TU. The age of the groundwater at depths of less than 30 m is about 5–10 years. The age
of the groundwater at depths of 30–50 m is about 10–23 years. The age of the groundwater at depths of 50–100 m is about 12–29 years.
For groundwater samples at depths of greater than 100 m, the renewal time is about 40 years. 相似文献

松辽盆地钱家店地区姚家组砂岩矿物、地球化学成分与源区岩石性质和沉积构造环境密切相关。岩相学观察和矿物化学分析表明,所研究的岩石主要碎屑矿物由石英、岩屑和长石组成,含少量的黄铁矿、炭屑和重矿物等矿物。地球化学特征上,这些岩石普遍具有高SiO2含量(68.4%~79.61%)、相对高的K2O/Na2O比值(1.83~2.03)和较低的Fe2O3T+MgO含量(1.48%~4.22%),稀土元素标准化配分曲线呈现轻稀土富集,重稀土平坦和弱Eu、Ce负异常特征。较低的CIA(57~63)和PIA(60~71)指数、A-CN-K以及AK-C-N分布模式还说明源区经历了相对较弱的风化作用。Zr/Sc和Th/Sc比值共同表明姚家组的碎屑组成不具备沉积再旋回的特征,说明其为近源沉积,具有较差的分选性。砂岩物源区组成判别图研究表明,姚家组砂岩的物源区主要出露长英质岩浆岩。砂岩形成构造环境判别图解及特征指数分析表明,姚家组主要形成于被动大陆边缘沉积环境。 相似文献

脱羟基维生素E是沉积物(岩)中一类具有水体盐度指示意义的生物标志化合物,在现代和古代沉积物及原油中均有检出。在松辽盆地松科1井晚白垩系嫩江组岩芯样品中检测发现的脱羟基维生素E系列化合物显示脱羟基维生素E的组成分布在剖面上的变化主要反应了沉积埋葬时的环境盐度、氧化还原状态的变化,而与母源组成、有机质成熟度等无明显相关性,其中,δ-MTTC在咸水还原性环境最为丰富,而在低盐的半咸水-淡水氧化性环境中基本缺失,Ⅱ一MTTC在所有盐度环境中都很丰富,γ-MTTC的丰度则在盐水-咸水环境中明显高于低盐半咸水环境,而且在盐水环境中γ-MTTC〉β-MTTC-咸水环境显示γ-MTTC〈β-MTTC。研究发现,α-MTTC/γ-MTTC(cur)可作为Ⅱ-MTTC/δ-MTTC(α/δ)比值的替代指标,当Ⅱ-MTTC/γ—MTTC比值小于2时为盐水环境,比值大于15时为半咸水-淡水环境,介于之间为咸水环境。相关参数及综合分析显示嫩江组一、二段沉积时期水体盐度及氧化还原条件显著不同,嫩一段主力烃源岩沉积时期以与海水盐度相当的咸水、存在水体分层的还原性湖泊环境为主,顶部出现短期戚化的盐水环境,而嫩二段主要为半咸水-淡水氧化性湖泊环境,盐度比较稳定。 相似文献

基于钻井岩芯,结合实测剖面及收集的测试数据,以点及面,对金羊盆地北票组沉积环境及烃源岩有机地球化学特征进行了分析研究。结果表明:北票组烃源岩主要形成于淡水-微咸水、偏氧化的沉积环境中,且气候条件从潮湿、半潮湿到半干燥有序变化;综合评价认为,北票组烃源岩有机质丰度高,有机质类型主要为Ⅱ_2型,其次为Ⅲ型,处于成熟阶段及生油高峰期。横向上,位于章吉营子凹陷沉积中心的东坤头营子剖面及石门沟剖面有机质丰度最好,以中等-好烃源岩为主,而沉积边缘相的巴图营子乡刁家沟剖面有机质丰度最差,为非烃源岩-差烃源岩;纵向上,半深湖亚相的有机质丰度要好于滨浅湖亚相,辫状河三角洲、扇三角洲相为非烃源岩-差烃源岩。 相似文献

在青藏高原羌塘盆地发现规模较大的上侏罗统索瓦组油藏带,主要分布在双湖南、鸭湖、才多茶卡及阿木错一带。利用抽提、分离、GC—MS等地球化学分析手段详细分析了油苗的族组分、有机质来源,沉积环境以及成熟度。生物标志化合物参数分析表明油藏中有机质沉积环境为具有一定盐度的还原性较强的环境,其中,才多茶卡油藏有机质的来源主要为低等水生生物;而双湖南、鸭湖油藏有机质来源则具有低等水生生物和高等植物共同输入;阿木错油藏中有机质以陆源有机质的贡献为主。成熟度参数分析显示油藏样品有机质热演化已达到低成熟—成熟阶段,说明烃源岩的成熟度均已达到生油门限,暗示这些烃源岩曾经有过一定规模的生烃。双湖地区古油藏普遍受自北向南的逆冲推覆构造影响,而位于逆冲推覆构造根带的北羌塘地块索瓦组地层出露较好且具有良好圈闭条件。因此,双湖地区索瓦组古油藏的发现及地球化学特征对于北羌塘盆地上侏罗统油气资源的勘探具有重要指示意义。 相似文献

安徽庐枞盆地酸性蚀变岩帽地质地球化学特征研究 总被引:1,自引:4,他引:1
酸性蚀变岩帽是浅成低温热液系统演化的产物,形成于酸性高氧化性流体的化学条件下;在高硫化型浅成低温热液金矿床中广泛发育,是该类矿床的显著识别特征。通过对酸性蚀变岩帽的野外地质特征、矿物共生组合和地球化学特征研究,能较好阐明浅成低温成矿热液系统的特征、性质、发生和发展演化及成矿作用过程。庐枞矿集区是长江中下游成矿带重要的矿集区之一,盆地内广泛发育以明矾石为特征蚀变矿物的酸性蚀变岩帽,面积超过30km~2,指示盆地内高硫化浅成低温热液系统的存在。目前为止,前期工作主要针对明矾石矿床地质特征和明矾石资源储量进行,该酸性蚀变岩帽的地质地球化学特征研究尚未开展。本次工作通过对酸性蚀变岩帽系统的野外采样、全岩地球化学分析和短波红外光谱测试分析技术(PNIRS测试)分析,确定其主要赋存在砖桥组火山岩中,组成矿物为石英、明矾石、高岭石、地开石,此外有少量绢云母、伊利石、珍珠陶土、叶蜡石、褐铁矿,极少数的叶腊石和黄钾铁矾等,在钻孔深部存在浸染状和半自形粒状黄铁矿。由于受到地表风化剥蚀和不同热热中心的影响,水平方向从矾山明矾石矿床向外围发育石英+明矾石带、石英+高岭石/地开石+明矾石带、石英+高岭石/地开石带、硅化带以及最外围的泥质带即高岭石±绢云母±伊利石带。根据酸性蚀变岩帽的矿物组合和主量元素特征,可将其分为三类:硅质蚀变岩、明矾石蚀变岩和粘土蚀变岩。硅质蚀变岩中SiO_2含量发生明显的富集作用,其余主量元素(K_2O、Na_2O、Al_2O_3、Fe_2O_3、P_2O5)含量显著降低;明矾石蚀变岩和粘土蚀变岩具有相似的地球化学特征,SiO_2、Al_2O_3、Fe_2O_3、P_2O_5元素含量范围变大,K_2O和Na_2O含量降低,且Na_2O降低更加明显;而钛为不活泼元素,在岩石发生蚀变过程中TiO_2含量变化很小。矾山地区的酸性蚀变岩帽的产状、蚀变类型、地球化学特征受构造和地层的双重控制。 相似文献

A hydrochemical investigation was conducted in the Ejina Basin to identify the hydrochemical characteristics and the salinity
of groundwater. The results indicate that groundwater in the area is brackish and are significantly zonation in salinity and
water types from the recharge area to the discharge area. The ionic ration plot and saturation index (SI) calculation suggest
that the silicate rock weathering and evaporation deposition are the dominant processes that determine the major ionic composition
in the study area. Most of the stable isotope δ18O and δD compositions in the groundwater is a meteoric water feature, indicating that the groundwater mainly sources from
meteoric water and most groundwater undergoes a long history of evaporation. Based on radioactive isotope tritium (3H) analysis, the groundwater ages were approximately estimated in different aquifers. The groundwater age ranges from less
than 5 years, between 5 years and 50 years, and more than 50 years. Within 1 km of the river water influence zone, the groundwater
recharges from recent Heihe river water and the groundwater age is about less than 5 years in shallow aquifer. From 1 km to

Arsenic concentrations surpassing potability limit of 10 μg/L in the groundwater supplies of an extensive area in the Duero Cenozoic Basin (central Spain) have been detected and the main sources of arsenic identified. Arsenic in 514 samples of groundwater, having mean values of 40.8 μg/L, is natural in origin. Geochemical analysis of 553 rock samples, assaying arsenic mean values of 23 mg/kg, was performed. Spatial coincidence between the arsenic anomaly in groundwater and the arsenic lithogeochemical distribution recorded in the Middle Miocene clayey organic-rich Zaratan facies illustrates that the rocks of this unit are the main source of arsenic in groundwater. The ferricretes associated to the Late Cretaceous–Middle Miocene siliciclastics also constitute a potential arsenic source. Mineralogical study has identified the presence of arsenic in iron oxides, authigenic pyrite, manganese oxides, inherited titanium–iron oxides, phyllosilicates and organomineral compounds. Arsenic mobilization to groundwater corresponds to arsenic desorption from iron and manganese oxides and from organic matter. 相似文献

The Avengco Basin is located in the western part of the Tibetan Plateau and is similar to the Nima Basin in the central part of the plateau and the Lunpola Basin in the eastern part in terms of sedimentary characteristics and tectonic settings, which are well known to provide a good source rock potential. However, the organic geochemical characteristics of the Paleocene-Eocene potential source rocks in the Avengco Basin have been under debate. Thirty-four marl and mudstone outcrop samples of the Niubao Formation in the Avengco Basin were collected and subjected to the following analyses: total organic carbon (TOC), Rock–Eval pyrolysis, stable carbon isotopes of kerogen, gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Here, we present the results indicating the organic matter of the upper Niubao Formation is mainly composed of Type II kerogen with a mixed source, which is dominated by algae. However, the lower Niubao Formation has the less oil-prone Type II–III kerogen, and the sources of the organic matter are mainly terrestrial plants with less plankton. In addition, the samples are thermally immature to marginally mature. The Niubao Formation was deposited in an anoxic–oxic environment which was brackish with an imperceptible stratified water column. The upper Niubao Formation has a medium to good hydrocarbon-generating potential. However, the lower Niubao Formation has a zero to poor hydrocarbon-generating potential. 相似文献

金岭寺-羊山盆地(金羊盆地)是中国北方侏罗系发育最完备的地区之一,盆地内充填的下侏罗统北票组为一套湖相泥岩,具有良好的油气潜力。在金羊盆地章吉营子凹陷西缘布置实施的4口地质调查井中,有3口井见油气显示。通过对SZK2及SZK3钻井岩心进行现场解析,北票组泥页岩在浅层测试到可观的页岩气含量,且随着深度的变化,总含气量及甲烷含量有所增加。另外,其总含气量与有机碳含量呈良好的正相关关系,是影响页岩含气量的关键因素。对比金羊盆地北票组泥页岩吸附气C同位素特征,其气体成因主要存在生物成因气和煤型气2种类型,表明下侏罗统北票组页岩气具有混合多成因的特征。通过X衍射分析综合评价,金羊盆地下侏罗统北票组泥页岩压裂条件好、天然气吸附能力强,具备一定的页岩气勘探前景,是有利的页岩气勘探开发新层系。 相似文献

在对四川盆地南部嘉陵江组沉积背景认识的基础上,通过大量岩心观察、薄片鉴定、扫描电镜观察,结合孔隙度、渗透率分析测试结果,对泸州古隆起花果山地区嘉陵江组主要储集层段的储层特征及成岩作用进行研究。结果表明:(1)花果山地区嘉陵江组顶底界面清楚,主要产层为嘉一和嘉二段,储集层岩性为粉晶含泥质粒屑白云岩及亮晶粒屑灰岩、细粉晶灰岩,孔隙类型以晶间(溶)孔为主,总体以低孔低渗的Ⅲ类储层为主,储集空间类型主要为裂缝-孔隙型;(2)按成岩作用是否形成孔、缝等储集空间和是否对油气的生、储、运有贡献,将成岩作用划分为建设性成岩作用、破坏性成岩作用和保持性成岩作用,并对孔隙成因做出分析,并找出岩石学证据;(3)准同生和表生阶段的大气淡水作用是形成储层的基础,白云石化作用和埋藏溶蚀对孔隙的发育具有重要的建设性作用,古隆起时期的构造破裂作用能够为溶蚀性流体提供运移通道,有利于溶蚀作用的进行;(4)综合考虑不同成岩作用先后次序,以及次生矿物之间的切割、伴生以及交代关系,对成岩演化史和孔隙演化史进行了恢复。 相似文献

综合岩心观察、薄片鉴定及场发射扫描电镜、Quemscan软件、X-衍射、阴极发光、图像分析等分析测试手段,并结合测井、录井和物性等资料,从沉积和成岩两方面对准噶尔盆地玛湖西斜坡百口泉组砾岩储层特征与有利储层的主控因素进行了综合研究。研究表明:砾岩储层骨架颗粒的成分、粒度、分选性和砾岩体的厚度主要由物源和沉积环境共同决定,这些因素控制了埋藏期的压实作用和钙质胶结作用的强弱、成岩环境的特征、孔隙流体的性质、钾长石溶蚀作用以及火山碎屑的蚀变对储层性质的影响。相对扇三角洲平原亚相的水上河道和河道间,发育在扇三角洲前缘亚相的水下分流河道微相的储层厚度较大,刚性颗粒含量高、分选好,易发育绿泥石膜,压实作用相对较弱,孔隙较大且连通性较好,孔隙流体流动性较好,因此,钾长石和岩屑等易溶矿物的溶蚀产物如高岭石、伊利石等自生黏土矿物易被带出而不在原地发生沉淀,对储层物性的改善具有十分重要的作用。此外,处于有机质优势运移方向的储层物性较好。 相似文献

【研究目的】本文旨在通过对比准噶尔盆地吉木萨尔地区二叠系芦草沟组高品位和低品位油页岩的品质和成因差异,揭示高品位油页岩的特殊成矿条件。【研究方法】对吉木萨尔地区两个剖面采集的露头样品,进行TOC、热解、含油率、微量、稀土元素测试,从而开展高品位和低品位油页岩有机地球化学特征,微量稀土元素特征及成矿条件差异分析。【研究结果】研究区高品位油页岩有机质类型为I型;低品位油页岩有机质类型为I-II1型。高品位和低品位油页岩中B、Ba、Cr、Nb、Sr、V、Zr等微量元素含量差异明显,高品位油页岩中各稀土元素平均含量和各样品稀土元素分布区间都小于低品位油页岩,且外源元素富集程度也相对更低,显示了更少的陆源碎屑输入。微量元素比值显示,研究区油页岩形成于温暖湿润气候,淡水—半咸水,还原环境。高品位油页岩与低品位油页岩相比,形成时水体盐度值更大,有机质生产力更高。【结论】温暖湿润气候背景下,相对较少的陆源碎屑供给,减少了对有机质的稀释和氧化破坏,同时较高的水体盐度值更利于水体分层,从而形成一个长时间的还原环境,再加上更高的有机质生产力,从而形成了高品位油页岩。 相似文献

本文对河南卢氏盆地中始新世张家村组河湖相沉积进行了粒度分析。结果表明:1)从底到顶,张家村组沉积岩粒度总体上由粗变细,平均粒径由约6φ(16μm)减小到8φ(4μm)左右,指示沉积动力由强到弱的变化;2)粒度频率分布曲线整体为近对称分布,且从底到顶由双峰逐渐变为单峰特征;3)沉积颗粒以悬浮和跳跃组分为主,不含或含少量滚动组分。粒度和岩性综合分析表明,张家村组下段为河流相沉积,中段为河漫滩相或滨湖相沉积,上段为滨湖和浅湖相沉积。张家村组沉积可能记录了卢氏古湖逐渐形成的过程。 相似文献

陆丰凹陷珠江组发育的多套砂岩储层是珠江口盆地东部重要的产油层,但对这些储层沉积特征的研究程度不足制约了下一步的勘探部署。在岩心观察的基础上,结合测井资料、岩石学特征、矿物成分、沉积构造等对珠江组砂体储层沉积相类型和物性特征进行了分析。结果表明,研究区主要发育辫状河三角洲和滨岸两大沉积体系,并可进一步细分为分流河道、河口坝、远沙坝等10种沉积微相。不同的沉积相带控制不同砂体储集物性,按储层物性好坏,划分出3类沉积相带砂体储层。滩砂、滩砂水道、沿岸坝等砂体储层物性最好,上临滨、分流河道、河口沙坝次之,下临滨砂体最差。综合研究认为,寻找优质油气储层,应优先考虑最有利的形成优质储层的沉积相带。 相似文献
