In our work, the method that can help to predict the existence of distant objects in the Solar system is demonstrated. This method is connected with statistical properties of a heliocentric orbital complex of meteoroids with high eccentricities. Heliocentric meteoroid orbits with high eccentricities are escape routes for dust material from distant parental objects with near-circular orbits to Earth-crossing orbits. Ground-based meteor observations yield trajectory information from which we can derive their place of possible origin: comets, asteroids, and other objects (e.g. Kuiper Objects) in the Solar system or even interstellar space. Statistical distributions of radius vectors of nodes, and other parameters of orbits of meteoroids contain key information about position of greater bodies. We analyze meteor orbits with high eccentricities that were registered in 1975–1976 in Kharkiv (Ukraine). The orbital data of the Kharkiv electronic catalogue are received from observations of radiometeors with masses 10−6−10−3 g.  相似文献

We have analysed the meteor records in the chronicles that describe the era of the Song dynasty ( ad 960–1279). The data are complementary to the record-vacant 10th century of the Koryo dynasty ( ad 918–1392). The annual activity of sporadic meteors analysed shows a generic sinusoidal behaviour as in modern observations. In addition, we have also found that there are two prominent meteor showers, one in August and the other in November, appearing on the fluctuating sporadic meteors. The date of occurrence of the August shower indicates it to be the Perseids. By comparing the date of occurrence of the November shower with those of the Leonid showers of the Koryo dynasty, recent visual observations and the world-wide historical meteor storms, we conclude that the November shower is the Leonids. The regression rate of the Leonids is obtained to be     days per century, which agrees with recent observations.  相似文献

The action of the solar corpuscular radiation on the rotational properties of small interplanetary dust particles is investigated. It is shown that the solar wind increases the angular momentum (spin) of the particle. Analytic solutions are presented for dominant terms in which quantities of the orders (v/u) n ,n 1, are neglected (v is the orbital velocity of dust particle around the Sun andu is the speed of the solar wind particles).  相似文献

The phenomenon of terminal thermal explosions of bolides is considered and mathematically modeled, using the mechanisms of ablation and fragmentation due to mechanical and thermal stresses. The definition and criterion of thermal explosions are given. An analytical solution is obtained for the model of ablating and mechanically fragmenting meteoroid motion in the atmosphere. Numerical calculations including the terminal stage of the motion are fulfilled for the Tunguska parameters. They demonstrated a very rapid energy loss, corresponding to the terminal flare and full mass loss, explaining the absence meteorites.  相似文献

The geological and biological sciences have gradually dispensed with the nineteenth-century concept of substantive uniformitarianism - or gradualism - whereby the physical and biological features of our planet are assumed to have been brought about by the long-term accumulation of small changes. The catastrophist alternative sees the changes as being wrought largely by discrete, exceptional events; one such type of event is an impact by a substantial asteroid or comet. It is argued here that scientists working on small solar system bodies generally still labour under a form of this gradualism, in that a conventional starting point is to presume a steady-state, and what is seen now is assumed to be diagnostic of the long-term average conditions. This is here termed NEO-uniformitarianism, the NEO referring to Near-Earth Objects. It is maintained herein that this area of science needs to revise its philosophical basis by allowing catastrophist principles to be entertained; that is, the presumption of a steady-state needs to be rejected until such time as evidence to support it is revealed. It is argued that the weight of evidence favours the contrary. For example, evidence is outlined for (a) Variations in the terrestrial cratering rate, disallowing any equating of the crater record with the presently-observed large impactor population; (b) The presence of significant NEO complexes which may be due to giant comet disintegrations within the last 20 kyr, hence solving the problem of the supply of short-period comets; (c) A misbalance between the present supply of meteoroids, there being too many to be supplied by presently-observed comets and also a surplus above the population needed to maintain the interplanetary dust complex; and (d) A substantial variation in the interplanetary dust flux in the past 20 kyr, as might be expected from (b and c).  相似文献

The cometary Leonid meteoroids represent a size range in between largest carbon-richIDPs and the smallest CI meteorites. Their dustball structure and chemistry offer anopportunity to constrain hierarchical dust accretion inferred from petrologic studies ofaggregate and cluster IDPs. The Leonid shower meteoroids of known ``comet ejection'ages provide an opportunity to study space weathering of cometary dust over periodsof up to several hundred years. The meteors and aggregate and cluster IDPs displaycontinuous thermal modification of organics and volatile element (Na, K-bearing phases), that occur as discrete minerals and amorphous solids each different response during kinetically controlled ablation. Leonid meteoroids are not excessively Na-rich. The occurrences of Leonid meteors can now be accurate predicted and combined withknowledge better models for the settling rates, collections of surviving dust becomea comet nucleus-sampling mission. 硅酸盐尘粒是宇宙尘埃的主要成分之一,它广泛存在于许多天体物理环境中,其特性随环境而变化。由于近年来观测数据的不断增加和红外光谱质量的逐步提高,宇宙空间中的硅酸盐尘粒正受到越来越多的关注.该文详细地介绍了在各种天体环境(星际空间、演化晚期恒星的星周尘埃包层、绕年轻恒星和主序星的星周尘埃盘、彗星的彗发和行星际空间)中的硅酸盐尘粒的观测特征,并分别对其物理和化学性质进行了综合比较.观测已经证实在星际尘埃演化的前身(演化晚期恒星的星周尘埃包层)和其遗迹(彗星)均有可观数量的结晶硅酸盐存在。但是至今还没有在其中间态(弥散星际介质)找到结晶硅酸盐存在的证据。这一尚未解决的难题突出了结晶态硅酸盐在天体物理研究中的重要意义。  相似文献

Verschiedene Modelle zur Darstellung der interstellaren Extinktion und Polarisation werden betrachtet. Dabei wird den Ausrichtungsmechanismen, wie dem Davies-Greenstein-Mechanismus und der Ausrichtung durch suprathermische Rotation, und ihren Näherungen besondere Aufmerksamkeit zu teil. Es wird geschlußfolgert, daß die Größe der Staubteilchen sowie die Starke und Richtung des interstellaren Magnetfeldes aus den Extinktions- und Polarisationsdaten abgeschätzt werden können. The action of the solar electromagnetic radiation on the moving interplanetary dust particles in its more complete form than the special case known as the Poynting-Robertson effect is theoretically discussed in application to meteoroid stream of comet Encke.Normal and transversal components of the perturbing nongravitational force are used due to the action of the solar electromagnetic radiation. It is shown that the normal component of the force is negligible. However, transversal component is very important: it can probably completely explain all the observed meteoroid streams situated along the orbit of comet Encke (and, possibly, some asteroids) as the product of the comet Encke alone. Much shorter time is required for producing such a meteoroid stream than is a general conception.If the idea about the significance of the transversal component of the nongravitational force (may be, not produced by electromagnetic radiation) is correct, it may have important consequences for our understanding of ageing of comets, global evolution of the cometary (and, partially, asteroidal) system, and, of course, for a long-term evolution of small interplanetary particles.  相似文献

Meteorites, generally 1 cm or larger in size that are believed to sample asteroids, and interplanetary dust particles (IDPs), generally 5–50 μm in size that are believed to sample both asteroids and comets, span the size range of the meteors. Thus, the physical properties of the meteorites and the IDPs are likely to constrain the properties of the meteors and their parent bodies. Measurements of the density, porosity, longitudinal and transverse speeds of sound, elastic modulus, and bulk modulus, as well as imaging of the internal structure by Computed Microtomography indicate that unweathered samples of chondritic meteorites are more porous and have lower sound velocities than compact terrestrial rocks. In general, the IDPs are even more porous than the chondritic meteorites. The impact energy per unit target mass required to produce a barely catastrophic disruption (Q * D) for anhydrous ordinary chondrite meteorites is twice that for terrestrial basalt or glass, indicating that collisional disruption of anhydrous meteorites requires more energy than for a compact basalt. These results indicate that most stone meteors are likely to be weak, porous objects, and that the parent bodies of the anhydrous stone meteorites are likely to be more difficult to disrupt than compact terrestrial basalt.  相似文献

We present the results of an ongoing optical/thermal infraredphotometric imaging survey of thedust mass loss and nuclear size ofcomets. We find an evolution with time of the kind of dust emittedfrom a comet's surface. Our results indicate that the mass loss ratefrom the short period comets alone is enough to supply the interplanetary dust (IPD) complexagainst losses. We conclude that the nature of the IPD cloud haschanged over time, with small particles dominating early, and largerparticles dominating in the present era. The rate of destruction of short period (SP)comets due to sublimation mass loss is found to be low compared to therate of surface mantle formation, but fast compared to the rate of their dynamical removal from the inner solar system.  相似文献

The transfer of polarized radiation in inhomogeneous circumstellar shells with a spheroidal spatial distribution of porous dust particles is computed. The grains are modeled by an MRN mixture of silicate and graphite particles. The optical properties of porous particles (considered separately in the Appendix) are computed by using effective medium theory and Mie theory. The following observational characteristics have been computed for WW Vul, a typical Herbig Ae star with Algol-like minima: the spectral energy distribution from the ultraviolet to the far infrared, the color-magnitude diagrams, the wavelength dependence of linear polarization, and the shell brightness distribution. The effect of grain porosity on the results is considered. It has been found that only moderate particle porosity (the volume fraction of matter is f ~0.5) can explain available observational data in terms of the approach used. Since radiation pressure must rapidly sweep submicron-sized grains out of the vicinity of Herbig Ae/Be stars, we briefly discuss how particle porosity can affect this process.  相似文献

We present the results of a study of meteoroid bulk densities determined from meteor head echoes observed by radar. Meteor observations were made using the Advanced Research Projects Agency Long-Range Tracking And Instrumentation Radar (ALTAIR). ALTAIR is particularly well suited to the detection of meteor head echoes, being capable of detecting upwards of 1000 meteor head echoes per hour. Data were collected for 19 beam pointings and are comprised of approximately 70 min. of VHF observations. During these observations the ALTAIR beam was directed largely at the north apex sporadic source. Densities are calculated using the classical physical theory of meteors. Meteoroid masses are determined by applying a full wave scattering theory to the observed radar cross-section. Observed meteoroids are predominantly in the 10−10 to 10−6 kg mass range. We find that the vast majority of meteoroid densities are consistent with low density, highly porous objects as would be expected from cometary sources. The median calculated bulk density was found to be 900 kg/m3. The orbital distribution of this population of meteoroids was found to be highly inclined.  相似文献

We use 130 years data for studying correlative effects due to solar cycle and activity phenomena on the occurrence of rainfall over India. For the period of different solar cycles, we compute the correlation coefficients and significance of correlation coefficients for the seasonal months of Jan–Feb (JF), Mar–May (MAM), June–Sept (JJAS) and Oct–Dec (OND) and,annual mean data. We find that: (i) with a moderate-to-high significance, Indian rainfall is correlated with the sunspot activity and, (ii) there is an overall trend that during the period of low sunspot activity, occurrence of rainfall is high compared to the period of high sunspot activity. We speculate in this study a possible physical connection between the occurrence of the rainfall and the sunspot activities and, the flux of galactic cosmic rays. Some of the negative correlations between the occurrences of the sunspot and rainfall activities obtained for different solar cycle periods are interpreted as effects of aerosols on the rain forming clouds due to either intermittent volcanic eruptions or due to intrusion of interstellar dust particles in the Earth’s atmosphere.  相似文献

There are too few active comets to account for the observed zodiacal dust. Rather we look to the collisional fragmentation and erosion of sub-kilometre meteoroids in orbit close to the ecliptic. Since 1975 we have also been aware of an apparently massive meteoroidal swarm in probable 7:2 mean motion resonance with Jupiter, seemingly at the heart of the Taurid Complex and connecting therefore with the near-ecliptic system through the so-called Štohl Stream. The notable absence of pre-1786 apparitions of 2P/Encke took on a new significance with the 1983 detection by IRAS of its asymmetric trail inside this resonance. Thus it was possible all these meteoroidal components were ultimately derived from a continuously eroded, substantially dormant, librating progenitor within the trail whose more volatile inclusions are exposed from time to time and expelled either singly or severally as independent comets. A Taurid progenitor of this kind (proto-Encke) dominating the inner Solar System environment probably then accounts for most of the recorded enhancements of the larger meteoroid flux to Earth, including ‘Tunguska’ bodies as well. Terrestrial dust insertions which control mean temperature and hence climate are also inferred based upon the libration and nodal precession half-periods of proto-Encke (∼0.2 kyr, ∼2.5 kyr respectively) albeit the longer of these cycles was not at first evident in the terrestrial record (Asher & Clube 1993). Recently however this cycle appears to have been confirmed as a significant (long term) global warming/meridional atmospheric circulation / iceberg calving cycle with the correct phase producing the so-called mini-Heinrich and Heinrich events of the Holocene and late Upper Pleistocene respectively, i.e., during the past ∼60 kyr BP. The comparative stability of this terrestrial cycle, in contrast with the weakness of the observed resonance, suggests a fairly recent diversion therefore from a much stronger sungrazing 7:2 Jovian resonance in which proto-Encke's and Jupiter's longitudes of perihelion are related by ϖ pE ≈ ϖ J or ϖ J + π. Thus both the Hephaistos Stream and the Taurid Complex could have formed together during a recent close planetary encounter, say with Mercury ∼5 kyr BP. It follows that we envisage a single large progenitor in 7:2 Jovian sungrazing resonance for 50 kyr or so which undergoes repeated tidal stress: a continuous dust-induced major glaciation is thus sustained on Earth for most of this dynamical timescale before a disruptive planetgrazing event finally brings its sungrazing status to an end and produces the present meteoroidal complex. This evolutionary sequence almost certainly requires that the original sungrazing stream still exists (without its source): a potentially significant fact because it may have a direct bearing on both the observed zodiacal bands and the original progenitor orbit as well as the known periodic variation of solar radiance and convected magnetic field, of possible relevance to the solar cycle. While these aspects have to be further explored, the purpose of the present investigation is to describe some preliminary modelling with a view to inferring the likely dynamical history of proto-Encke. 本文采用改进的显式辛算法(symplecticalgorithm)和嵌套的RKF7(8)积分器对43颗已命名(或编号)的近地小行星的轨道演化进行数值研究.在力学模型上,除考虑各大行星的引力振动外,还增加了后牛顿效应,而在算法上则着重探索辛算法在近地小行星轨道演化研究中的应用前景,特别是当小行星与某一大行星靠近时辛算法的有效性.本文的结果可为了解近地小行星的轨道演化状况和对它们进行监测提供可靠的信息.  相似文献
