The thermo-elastic behavior of a natural epidote [Ca1.925 Fe0.745Al2.265Ti0.004Si3.037O12(OH)] has been investigated up to 1,200 K (at 0.0001 GPa) and 10 GPa (at 298 K) by means of in situ synchrotron powder diffraction. No phase transition has been observed within the temperature and pressure range investigated. PV data fitted with a third-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state (BM-EoS) give V 0 = 458.8(1)Å3, K T0 = 111(3) GPa, and K′ = 7.6(7). The confidence ellipse from the variance–covariance matrix of K T0 and K′ from the least-square procedure is strongly elongated with negative slope. The evolution of the “Eulerian finite strain” vs “normalized stress” yields Fe(0) = 114(1) GPa as intercept values, and the slope of the regression line gives K′ = 7.0(4). The evolution of the lattice parameters with pressure is slightly anisotropic. The elastic parameters calculated with a linearized BM-EoS are: a 0 = 8.8877(7) Å, K T0(a) = 117(2) GPa, and K′(a) = 3.7(4) for the a-axis; b 0 = 5.6271(7) Å, K T0(b) = 126(3) GPa, and K′(b) = 12(1) for the b-axis; and c 0 = 10.1527(7) Å, K T0(c) = 90(1) GPa, and K’(c) = 8.1(4) for the c-axis [K T0(a):K T0(b):K T0(c) = 1.30:1.40:1]. The β angle decreases with pressure, βP(°) = βP0 −0.0286(9)P +0.00134(9)P 2 (P in GPa). The evolution of axial and volume thermal expansion coefficient, α, with T was described by the polynomial function: α(T) = α0 + α1 T −1/2. The refined parameters for epidote are: α0 = 5.1(2) × 10−5 K−1 and α1 = −5.1(6) × 10−4 K1/2 for the unit-cell volume, α0(a) = 1.21(7) × 10−5 K−1 and α1(a) = −1.2(2) × 10−4 K1/2 for the a-axis, α0(b) = 1.88(7) × 10−5 K−1 and α1(b) = −1.7(2) × 10−4 K1/2 for the b-axis, and α0(c) = 2.14(9) × 10−5 K−1 and α1(c) = −2.0(2) × 10−4 K1/2 for the c-axis. The thermo-elastic anisotropy can be described, at a first approximation, by α0(a): α0(b): α0(c) = 1 : 1.55 : 1.77. The β angle increases continuously with T, with βT(°) = βT0 + 2.5(1) × 10−4 T + 1.3(7) × 10−8 T 2. A comparison between the thermo-elastic parameters of epidote and clinozoisite is carried out.  相似文献

The thermoelastic behaviour of anthophyllite has been determined for a natural crystal with crystal-chemical formula ANa0.01 B(Mg1.30Mn0.57Ca0.09Na0.04) C(Mg4.95Fe0.02Al0.03) T(Si8.00)O22 W(OH)2 using single-crystal X-ray diffraction to 973 K. The best model for fitting the thermal expansion data is that of Berman (J Petrol 29:445–522, 1988) in which the coefficient of volume thermal expansion varies linearly with T as α V,T  = a 1 + 2a 2 (T − T 0): α298 = a 1 = 3.40(6) × 10−5 K−1, a 2 = 5.1(1.0) × 10−9 K−2. The corresponding axial thermal expansion coefficients for this linear model are: α a ,298 = 1.21(2) × 10−5 K−1, a 2,a  = 5.2(4) × 10−9 K−2; α b ,298 = 9.2(1) × 10−6 K−1, a 2,b  = 7(2) × 10−10 K−2. α c ,298 = 1.26(3) × 10−5 K−1, a 2,c  = 1.3(6) × 10−9 K−2. The thermoelastic behaviour of anthophyllite differs from that of most monoclinic (C2/m) amphiboles: (a) the ε 1 − ε 2 plane of the unit-strain ellipsoid, which is normal to b in anthophyllite but usually at a high angle to c in monoclinic amphiboles; (b) the strain components are ε 1 ≫ ε 2 > ε 3 in anthophyllite, but ε 1 ~ ε 2 ≫ ε 3 in monoclinic amphiboles. The strain behaviour of anthophyllite is similar to that of synthetic C2/m ANa B(LiMg) CMg5 TSi8 O22 W(OH)2, suggesting that high contents of small cations at the B-site may be primarily responsible for the much higher thermal expansion ⊥(100). Refined values for site-scattering at M4 decrease from 31.64 epfu at 298 K to 30.81 epfu at 973 K, which couples with similar increases of those of M1 and M2 sites. These changes in site scattering are interpreted in terms of Mn ↔ Mg exchange involving M1,2 ↔ M4, which was first detected at 673 K.  相似文献

About 24 samples from hand-dug wells and boreholes were used to characterize concentrations of the main inorganic ions in a laterite environment under semi-arid climatic conditions in Tikaré, northern Burkina Faso. It was found that the most represented groundwater anion in groundwater was HCO3 with average levels of 49.1 mg/L in the dry season and 33.5 mg/L in the rainy season. The most represented cation was Ca2+ with mean concentrations of 13.7 and 9.5 mg/L, respectively. The main processes, which influence the concentrations of these ions, are evaporation (dry season), local enrichment of recharge water in some elements, ion exchange and fixation by clay minerals (in case of K+). The best correlations were found between Ca2+ and Mg2+ (r = 0.95), Cl and Na+ (r = 0.95), HCO3 and Mg2+ (r = 0.89), HCO3 and Ca2+ (r = 0.89), and between HCO3 and Na+ (r = 0.80). In general, the quality of the groundwater from the different wells sampled for this study was good enough to serve as drinking water. However, there were situations where the quality of water was polluted because of anthropogenic contaminants (mainly NO3 , K+, Cl) from septic tanks and manure pits located in the vicinity of some sampled wells. In addition, application of fertilizers also represents a potential anthropogenic contamination source with regard to SO4 2−, Ca2+, K+, Na+, and Mg2+. Considering the high concentrations of SO4 2−, Mg2+, Na+ and Ca2+ found in one borehole, the deeper, fractured aquifers were also likely to be enriched in these elements. In contrast, the shallow aquifers are likely to be contaminated with Cl, NO3 and K+. Cl and K+ seem to be locally present in recharge water as shown by their relative higher mean concentrations in the rainy season samples.  相似文献

The high-pressure X-ray diffraction study of a natural arsenopyrite was investigated up to 28.2 GPa using in situ angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction and a diamond anvil cell at National Synchrotron Light Source, Brookhaven National Laboratory. The 16:3:1 methanol–ethanol–water mixture was used as a pressure-transmitting medium. Pressures were measured using the ruby-fluorescence method. No phase change has been observed up to 28.2 GPa. The isothermal equation of state (EOS) was determined. The values of K 0, and K′ 0 refined with a third-order Birch–Murnaghan EOS are K 0 = 123(9) GPa, and K′ 0 = 5.2(8). Furthermore, we confirm that the linear compressibilities (β) along a, b and c directions of arsenopyrite is elastically isotropic (β a  = 6.82 × 10−4, β b  = 6.17 × 10−4 and β c  = 6.57 × 10−4 GPa−1).  相似文献

An in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction study was carried out on ε-FeOOH at room temperature up to a pressure of 8.6 GPa using the energy-dispersive method. The linear compressibility was determined to be β a  = 1.69(3) × 10−3 GPa−1, β b  = 2.86(6) × 10−3 GPa−1, and β c  = 1.73(5) × 10−3 GPa−1. The b-axis of the unit cell is more compressible than the a and c axes. The pressure–volume data were fitted to a third-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state. The best fit was found using a room temperature isothermal bulk modulus of K 0 = 126(3) GPa and its pressure derivative K′ = 10(1).  相似文献

The Heihe River Basin is a typical arid inland river basin for examining stress on groundwater resources in northwest China. The basin is composed of large volumes of unconsolidated Quaternary sediments of widely differing grain size, and during the past half century, rapid socio-economic development has created an increased demand for groundwater resources. Understanding the hydrogeochemical processes of groundwater and water quality is important for sustainable development and effective management of groundwater resources in the Heihe River basin. To this end, a total of 30 representative groundwater samples were collected from different wells to monitor the water chemistry of various ions and its quality for irrigation. Chemical analysis shows that water presents a large spatial variability of chemical facies (SO4 2−–HCO3, SO4 2−–Cl, and Cl–SO4 2−) as groundwater flow from recharge area to discharge area. The ionic ratio indicates positive correlation between the flowing pairs of parameters: Cl and Na+(r = 0.95), SO4 2− and Na+ (r = 0.84), HCO3 and Mg2+(r = 0.86), and SO4 2− and Ca2+ (r = 0.91). Dissolution of minerals, such as halite, gypsum, dolomite, silicate, and Mirabilite (Na2SO4·10H2O) in the sediments results in the Cl, SO4 2−, HCO3 , Na+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ content in the groundwater. Other reactions, such as evaporation, ion exchange, and deposition also influence the water composition. The suitability of the groundwater for irrigation was assessed based on the US Salinity Laboratory salinity classification and the Wilcox diagram. The results show that most of the groundwater samples are suitable for irrigation uses barring a few locations in the dessert region in the northern sub-basin.  相似文献

The thermoelastic behavior of a natural clintonite-1M [with composition: Ca1.01(Mg2.29Al0.59Fe0.12)Σ3.00(Si1.20Al2.80)Σ4.00O10(OH)2] has been investigated up to 10 GPa (at room temperature) and up to 960°C (at room pressure) by means of in situ synchrotron single-crystal and powder diffraction, respectively. No evidence of phase transition has been observed within the pressure and temperature range investigated. PV data fitted with an isothermal third-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state (BM-EoS) give V 0 = 457.1(2) ?3, K T0 = 76(3)GPa, and K′ = 10.6(15). The evolution of the “Eulerian finite strain” versus “normalized stress” shows a linear positive trend. The linear regression yields Fe(0) = 76(3) GPa as intercept value, and the slope of the regression line leads to a K′ value of 10.6(8). The evolution of the lattice parameters with pressure is significantly anisotropic [β(a) = 1/3K T0(a) = 0.0023(1) GPa−1; β(b) = 1/3K T0(b) = 0.0018(1) GPa−1; β(c) = 1/K T0(c) = 0.0072(3) GPa−1]. The β-angle increases in response to the applied P, with: βP = β0 + 0.033(4)P (P in GPa). The structure refinements of clintonite up to 10.1 GPa show that, under hydrostatic pressure, the structure rearranges by compressing mainly isotropically the inter-layer Ca-polyhedron. The bulk modulus of the Ca-polyhedron, described using a second-order BM-EoS, is K T0(Ca-polyhedron) = 41(2) GPa. The compression of the bond distances between calcium and the basal oxygens of the tetrahedral sheet leads, in turn, to an increase in the ditrigonal distortion of the tetrahedral ring, with ∂α/∂P ≈ 0.1°/GPa within the P-range investigated. The Mg-rich octahedra appear to compress in response to the applied pressure, whereas the tetrahedron appears to behave as a rigid unit. The evolution of axial and volume thermal expansion coefficient α with temperature was described by the polynomial α(T) = α0 + α1 T −1/2. The refined parameters for clintonite are as follows: α0 = 2.78(4) 10−5°C−1 and α1 = −4.4(6) 10−5°C1/2 for the unit-cell volume; α0(a) = 1.01(2) 10−5°C−1 and α1(a) = −1.8(3) 10−5°C1/2 for the a-axis; α0(b) = 1.07(1) 10−5°C−1 and α1(b) = −2.3(2) 10−5°C1/2 for the b-axis; and α0(c) = 0.64(2) 10−5°C−1 and α1(c) = −7.3(30) 10−6°C1/2for the c-axis. The β-angle appears to be almost constant within the given T-range. No structure collapsing in response to the T-induced dehydroxylation was found up to 960°C. The HP- and HT-data of this study show that in clintonite, the most and the less expandable directions do not correspond to the most and the less compressible directions, respectively. A comparison between the thermoelastic parameters of clintonite and those of true micas was carried out.  相似文献

The heat capacity at constant pressure, C p, of chlorapatite [Ca5(PO4)3Cl – ClAp], and fluorapatite [Ca5(PO4)3F – FAp], as well as of 12 compositions along the chlorapatite–fluorapatite join have been measured using relaxation calorimetry [heat capacity option of the physical properties measurement system (PPMS)] and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in the temperature range 5–764 K. The chlor-fluorapatites were synthesized at 1,375–1,220°C from Ca3(PO4)2 using the CaF2–CaCl2 flux method. Most of the chlor-fluorapatite compositions could be measured directly as single crystals using the PPMS such that they were attached to the sample platform of the calorimeter by a crystal face. However, the crystals were too small for the crystal face to be polished. In such cases, where the sample coupling was not optimal, an empirical procedure was developed to smoothly connect the PPMS to the DSC heat capacities around ambient T. The heat capacity of the end-members above 298 K can be represented by the polynomials: C pClAp = 613.21 − 2,313.90T −0.5 − 1.87964 × 107 T −2 + 2.79925 × 109 T −3 and C pFAp = 681.24 − 4,621.73 × T −0.5 − 6.38134 × 106 T −2 + 7.38088 × 108 T −3 (units, J mol−1 K−1). Their standard third-law entropy, derived from the low-temperature heat capacity measurements, is S° = 400.6 ± 1.6 J mol−1 K−1 for chlorapatite and S° = 383.2 ± 1.5 J mol−1 K−1 for fluorapatite. Positive excess heat capacities of mixing, ΔC pex, occur in the chlorapatite–fluorapatite solid solution around 80 K (and to a lesser degree at 200 K) and are asymmetrically distributed over the join reaching a maximum of 1.3 ± 0.3 J mol−1 K−1 for F-rich compositions. They are significant at these conditions exceeding the 2σ-uncertainty of the data. The excess entropy of mixing, ΔS ex, at 298 K reaches positive values of 3–4 J mol−1 K−1 in the F-rich portion of the binary, is, however, not significantly different from zero across the join within its 2σ-uncertainty.  相似文献

The kinetics of the formation of the purple-colored species between FeIII-EDTA and peroxynitrite were studied as a function of pH (10.4–12.3) at 22°C in aqueous solutions using a stopped-flow technique. A purple-colored species was immediately formed upon mixing, which had an absorbance maximum at 520 nm. The increase in absorbance with time could be fit empirically by a power function with two parameters a and b. The power equation determined was absorbance = a*t b , where a increased linearly with pH and the concentration of peroxynitrite, while b almost remained constant with a value of ~0.25. The molar extinction coefficient ε520 nm for the colored species was determined as 13 M−1cm−1, which is much lower than ε520 nm = 520 M−1 cm−1 for the [FeIII(EDTA)O2]3−, a purple species observed in the FeIII–EDTA–H2O2 system. The results of kinetics and spectral measurements of the present study are briefly discussed and compared with those of the reaction between Fe(III)-EDTA and hydrogen peroxide.  相似文献

The sedimentary succession of Gallocanta lake, a closed saline lake located in the Iberian Range (NE Spain), documents two successive lacustrine stages: (1) brackish lake stage and (2) shallow saline lake stage. The saline stage corresponds to the present-day situation in which the lake water properties are mainly controlled by a strongly negative annual water balance. The carbonates of the brackish lake stage have relatively constant δ18O values, however, they are rather high (δ18ODo = 2.4‰ and δ18OCc = 4.5‰ mean values) suggesting a hydrologically closed lake with a long residence time of the waters. δ18O values of carbonates from the saline stage vary greatly, and are lighter than in the previous stage (δ18ODo = 0.5‰, δ18OCc = −0.7‰, δ18OMgs = −2.3‰ mean values). These carbonates also precipitated in a hydrologically closed lake, but in equilibrium with a lake water of more variable isotopic composition. The δ13C values for carbonates of both stages reflect a mixing of different pools of carbon, but during saline stage δ13C values have been more controlled by the equilibrium of the lake waters with atmospheric CO2. During the current stage, calcite and dolomite precipitate in Gallocanta lake mainly during spring and summer, although dolomite precipitation is more favoured towards the summer. Magnesite precipitates at the beginning of autumn, when the first rainfall re-dissolves the saline surface crust, producing saline waters with a high Mg2+ content. The isotopic composition of lake waters sampled in 2005 are far higher than those calculated from the carbonates. It is considered that this could be due to two factors: either because there have not been many extremely dry years (like the year 2005) during the development of the lake, or because the physical and chemical characteristics of the lake waters in such conditions are not appropriate for the development of these minerals.  相似文献

Pollution of groundwater by seawater intrusion poses a threat to sustainable agriculture in the coastal areas of Korea. Therefore, seawater intrusion monitoring stations were installed in eastern, western, and southern coastal areas and have been operated since 1998. In this study, groundwater chemistry data obtained from the seawater intrusion monitoring stations during the period from 2007 to 2009 were analyzed and evaluated. Groundwater was classified into fresh (<1,500 μS/cm), brackish (1,500–3,000 μS/cm), and saline (>3,000 μS/cm) according to EC levels. Among groundwater samples (n = 233), 56, 7, and 37% were classified as the fresh, brackish, and saline, respectively. The major dissolved components of the brackish and saline groundwaters were enriched compared with those of the fresh groundwater. The enrichment of Na+ and Cl was especially noticeable due to seawater intrusion. Thus, the brackish and saline groundwaters were classified as Ca–Cl and Na–Cl types, while the fresh groundwater was classified as Na–HCO3 and Ca–HCO3 types. The groundwater included in the Na–Cl types indicated the effects of seawater mixing. Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, SO4 2−, and Br showed good correlations with Cl of over r = 0.624. Of these components, the strong correlations of Mg2+, SO4 2−, and Br with Cl (r ≥ 0.823) indicated a distinct mixing between fresh groundwater and seawater. The Ca/Cl and HCO3/Cl ratios of the groundwaters gradually decreased and approached those of seawater. The Mg/Cl, Na/Cl, K/Cl, SO4/Cl, and Br/Cl ratios of the groundwaters gradually decreased, and were similar to or lower than those of seawater, indicating that Mg2+, Na+, K+, SO4 2−, and Br, as well as Cl in the saline groundwater can be enriched by seawater mixing, while Ca2+ and HCO3 are mainly released by weathering processes. The influence of seawater intrusion was evaluated using threshold values of Cl and Br, which were estimated as 80.5 and 0.54 mg/L, respectively. According to these criteria, 41–50% of the groundwaters were affected by seawater mixing.  相似文献

Vein-type tin mineralization in the Dadoushan deposit, Laochang ore field, Gejiu district, SW China, is predominantly hosted in Triassic carbonate rocks (Gejiu Formation) over cupolas of the unexposed Laochang equigranular granite intrusion. The most common vein mineral is tourmaline, accompanied by skarn minerals (garnet, diopside, epidote, phlogopite) and beryl. The main ore mineral is cassiterite, accompanied by minor chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, and pyrite, as well as scheelite. The tin ore grade varies with depth, with the highest grades (~1.2 % Sn) prevalent in the lower part of the vein zone. Muscovite 40Ar–39Ar dating yielded a plateau age of 82.7 ± 0.7 Ma which defines the age of the vein-type mineralization. Measured sulfur isotope compositions (δ 34S = −4.1 to 3.9 ‰) of the sulfides (arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, and pyrrhotite) indicate that the sulfur in veins is mainly derived from a magmatic source. The sulfur isotope values of the ores are consistent with those from the underlying granite (Laochang equigranular granite, −3.7 to 0.1 ‰) but are different from the carbonate wall rocks of the Gejiu Formation (7.1 to 11.1 ‰). The calculated and measured oxygen and hydrogen isotope compositions of the ore-forming fluids (δ 18OH2O = −2.4 to 5.5 ‰, δD = −86 to −77 ‰) suggest an initially magmatic fluid which gradually evolved towards meteoric water during tin mineralization.  相似文献

The natural norbergite, Mg2.98Fe0.01Ti0.02Si0.99O4(OH0.31F1.69) is examined by synchrotron X-ray diffraction analysis at pressures up to 8.2 GPa. The measured linear compressibilities of the crystallographic axes are β a  = 2.18(4) × 10−3, β b  = 2.93(7) × 10−3, and β c  = 2.77(7) × 10−3 (GPa−1), respectively and the calculated isothermal bulk modulus of the norbergite is K T = 113(2) GPa based on the Birch–Murnaghan equation of state assuming a pressure derivative of K′ = 4. The crystal structures of norbergite are refined at room temperature and pressures of 4.7, 6.3, and 8.2 GPa, yielding R values for the structure refinements of 4.6, 5.3, and 5.3%, respectively. The bulk moduli of the polyhedral sites are 293(15) GPa for the tetrahedron, 106(5) GPa for the M2 octahedron, 113(2) GPa for the M3 octahedron, and 113(3) GPa for the total void space. The bulk modulus exhibits a good linear correlation with the filling factor for polyhedral sites in structures of the humite minerals and forsterite, reflecting the Si4+ + 4O2− ⇔ □ + 4(OH, F) substitution in the humite minerals. Moreover, two simply linear trends were observed in the relationship between bulk modulus and packing index for natural minerals and dense hydrous magnesium silicate minerals. This relationship would reflect that the differences in compression mechanism were involved with hydrogen bonding in these minerals. A field survey was conducted to identify potential hyperaccumulators of Pb, Zn or Cd in the Beichang Pb/Zn mine outcrop in Yunnan Province, China. The average total concentrations of Pb, Zn, and Cd in the soils were up to 28,438, 5,109, and 52 mg kg−1, respectively. A total of 68 plant species belonging to 60 genera of 37 families naturally colonizing the outcrop were recorded. According to metal accumulation in the plants and translocation factor (TF), Silene viscidula was identified as potential hyperaccumulator of Pb, Zn, and Cd with mean shoot concentrations of 3,938 mg kg−1 of Pb (TF = 1.2), 11,155 mg kg−1 of Zn (TF = 1.8) and 236 mg kg−1 of Cd (TF = 1.1), respectively; S. gracilicanlis (Pb 3,617 mg kg−1, TF = 1.2) and Onosma paniculatum (Pb 1,837 mg kg−1, TF = 1.9) were potential Pb hyperaccumulators. Potentilla griffithii (Zn 8,748 mg kg−1, TF = 1.5) and Gentiana sp. (Zn 19,710 mg kg−1, TF = 2.7) were potential Zn hyperaccumulators. Lysimachia deltoides (Cd 212 mg kg−1, TF = 3.2) was a potential Cd hyperaccumulator. These new plant resources could be used to explore the mechanisms of Pb, Zn and/or Cd hyperaccumulation, and the findings could be applied for the phytoremediation of Pb, Zn and/or Cd-contaminated soils.  相似文献

The thermoelastic parameters of synthetic Ca3Al2Si3O12 grossular garnet were examined in situ at high-pressure and high-temperature by energy dispersive X-ray diffraction, using a Kawai-type multi-anvil press apparatus coupled with synchrotron radiation. Measurements have been conducted at pressures up to 20 GPa and temperatures up to 1,650 K: this P, T range covered the entire high-P, T stability field of grossular garnet. The analysis of room temperature data yielded V 0,300 = 1,664 ± 2 ?3 and K 0 = 166 ± 3 GPa for K0 K^{\prime}_{0} fixed to 4.0. Fitting of our PVT data by means of the high-temperature third order Birch–Murnaghan or the Mie–Grüneisen–Debye thermal equations of state, gives the thermoelastic parameters: (∂K 0,T /∂T) P  = −0.019 ± 0.001 GPa K−1 and α 0,T  = 2.62 ± 0.23 × 10−5 K−1, or γ 0 = 1.21 for fixed values q 0 = 1.0 and θ 0 = 823 (Isaak et al. Phys Chem Min19:106–120, 1992). From the comparison of fits from two different approaches, we propose to constrain the bulk modulus of grossular garnet and its pressure derivative to K T0 = 166 GPa and KT0 K^{\prime}_{T0}  = 4.03–4.35. Present results are compared with previously determined thermoelastic properties of grossular-rich garnets.  相似文献

We investigated the role of sandy beaches in nearshore nutrient cycling by quantifying macrophyte wrack inputs and examining relationships between wrack accumulation and pore water nutrients during the summer dry season. Macrophyte inputs, primarily giant kelp Macrocystis pyrifera, exceeded 2.3 kg m−1 day−1. Mean wrack biomass varied 100-fold among beaches (range = 0.41 to 46.43 kg m−1). Mean concentrations of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), primarily NOx-N, and dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) in intertidal pore water varied significantly among beaches (ranges = 1 to 6,553 μM and 7 to 2,006 μM, respectively). Intertidal DIN and DON concentrations were significantly correlated with wrack biomass. Surf zone concentrations of DIN were also strongly correlated with wrack biomass and with intertidal DIN, suggesting export of nutrients from re-mineralized wrack. Our results suggest beach ecosystems can process and re-mineralize substantial organic inputs and accumulate dissolved nutrients, which are subsequently available to nearshore waters and primary producers.  相似文献

Single-crystal electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of a gem-quality jeremejevite, Al6B5O15(F, OH)3, from Cape Cross, Namibia, reveal an S = 1/2 hole center characterized by an 27Al hyperfine structure arising from interaction with two equivalent Al nuclei. Spin-Hamiltonian parameters obtained from single-crystal EPR spectra at 295 K are as follows: g 1 = 2.02899(1), g 2 = 2.02011(2), g 3 = 2.00595(1); A 1/g e β e  = −0.881(1) mT, A 2/g e β e  = −0.951(1) mT, and A 3/g e β e  = −0.972(2) mT, with the orientations of the g 3- and A 3-axes almost coaxial and perpendicular to the Al–O–Al plane; and those of the g 1- and A 1-axes approximately along the Al–Al and Al–OH directions, respectively. These results suggest that this aluminum-associated hole center represents hole trapping on a hydroxyl oxygen atom linked to two equivalent octahedral Al3+ ions, after the removal of the proton (i.e., a VIAl–OVIAl center). Periodic ab initio UHF and DFT calculations confirmed the experimental 27Al hyperfine coupling constants and directions, supporting the proposed structural model. The VIAl–OVIAl center in jeremejevite undergoes the onset of thermal decay at 300 °C and is completely bleached at 525 °C. These data obtained from the VIAl–OVIAl center in jeremejevite provide new insights into analogous centers that have been documented in several other minerals.  相似文献

Nitrate pollution of groundwater in Toyserkan, western Iran   总被引:5,自引:2,他引:3
A total of 95 groundwater samples were collected from Toyserkan, western Iran to assess the chemical composition and nitrate (NO3 ) status of groundwater. The most prevalent water type is Ca–HCO3 followed by water types Ca–Mg–HCO3. In comparison with the World Health Organization (WHO) drinking water guideline of 50 mg l−1 for NO3 , a total of nine wells (9.5%) showed higher concentrations. In 36% of samples (34) NO3 concentration was low (<20 mg l−1), and in 53.7% of samples (51), in the range of 20–50 mg l−1. The samples were classified into four groups based on NO3 and chloride (Cl) concentrations. Of the samples, 40% were classified as group 4 and were relatively high in Cl and NO3 (Cl > 47 mg l−1, NO3  > 27 mg l−1). The high correlation between NO3 and Cl (r = 0.86, p < 0.01) is consistent with a manure source, resulting from the practice of adding salt to animal feed. Pollution of groundwaters appeared to be affected by the application of inorganic fertilizer at greater than agronomic rates, Cl-salt inputs, and irrigation practice.  相似文献

The crystal structure of orthorhombic (Pbnm) ScAlO3 perovskite has been refined to 5 GPa using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compression of the structure if anisotropic with β a =1.39(3)×10−3 GPa−1, β b =1.14(3)×10−3 GPa−1 and β c =1.84(3)×10−3 GPa−1. The isothermal bulk modulus of ScAlO3, K T , determined from fitting a Birch-Murnaghan equation of state (K T =4) to the volume compression data is 218(1) GPa. The interoctahedral angles to not vary significantly with pressure, and the compression of the structure is entirely attributable to compression of the AlO6 octahedra. The compressibilities of the constituent AlO6 and ScO12 are well matched: βAl−O=1.6×10−3 GPa−1 and βSc−O=1.5×10−3 GPa−1. Therefore the distortion of the structure shows no significant change with increasing pressure. Received: 18 August 1997 / Revised, accepted: 11 November 1997  相似文献

Symptoms of dental fluorosis have been observed in rural communities located in the Sierras Pampeanas de Córdoba, a mountainous area in Central Argentina. The clinical assessment was performed in the Charbonier Department, where the fluoride (F) intake was determined to be 3.90 ± 0.20 mg day−1 (n = 16). In this community, mild and severe fluorosis reach an incidence of 86.7% (total teeth surface = 636 teeth) among the children population. To determine the origin and distribution of fluorine in natural waters from the Charbonier Department and nearby regions, sampling was performed in the area covering the San Marcos River basin. The obtained results show that F concentrations vary between ~1 to ~2.5 mg l−1, with an outlier value of 8 mg l−1. The spatial distribution of F shows that the lowest concentrations are found at the basin’s catchments. Maximum values are located in two sectors of the basin: the Charbonier depression in the eastern part and at the San Marcos village, downstream the main collector, in the western part of the basin. In these two regions, the F contents in ground- and surface waters are >2.0 mg l−1 and nearly constant. Dissolved F in natural waters from the study area has its origin in the weathering of F-bearing minerals present in the region’s dominant lithology. The extent of mineral weathering is mostly determined by the residence time of water within the aquatic reservoir. Longer residence times and a major solid–water interaction lead to enhanced release of F. This explains the higher F concentrations found in basin areas with lower run off. The removal of F from water appears to occur by neither fluorite precipitation, nor by adsorption. Hence, variations in F concentrations seem to be more related to regional hydrological conditions.  相似文献
