In 1996, photometric observations of the near-Earth asteroid NEA 4197 (1982 TA) were performed at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. More than 2000 brightness measurements in the V band were made. The harmonic data analysis at a fairly high significance level revealed two close periods, P 1= 3h .5372 ± 0h .0005 (amplitude 0 m .4) and P 2= 4h .367 ± 0h .001 (amplitude 0 m .2). The third period, P 3= 20h .26 ± 0h .05 (amplitude about 0 m .15), was found at a lower significance level. The conclusion was drawn that the asteroid is a binary system. Its components rotate with the periods P 1and P 2, and P 3is probably related to the orbital motion of the components. Assuming that the diameters of both components are equal to 2 km, the orbital radius equals 4.4 km.  相似文献

Photometry of HD 155638=V792 Her has been analyzed to determine the elements of this totally eclipsing RS CVn binary. The light variation outside eclipse was found to have a period of 27d.07±0d.07, which is slightly different from the 27d.5384±0d.0045 orbital period. Analysis of the eclipses was achieved by a modification of the Russell-Merrill technique. With the aid of radial velocity measures, absolute elements were obtained for the hot and cool stars, respectively;R h=2.58R ,R c=12.28R ,M h=1.40M ,M c=1.46M ,i=80o.61 and velocity semi-amplitudesK c=48.36 km s–1±0.79 km s–1, andK h=50.50 km s–1±0.33 km s–1. The apparent magnitudes areV h=9 m .73 andV c=8 m .48. The distance to HD 155638 was estimated to be 310 parsecs.  相似文献

Differential photoelectric photometry inV, B, andU has been obtained for the eclipsing binary MM Her, a member of the RS Canum Venaticorum class. The light outside eclipse was Fourier-analyzed to study the wave. The migration and amplitude of the wave and the mean light level of the system now have been monitored from 1976 through 1980. The phase of wave minimum has decreased from 0 . P 80 to 0 . P 25, the wave amplitude has varied between 0 . m 06 and 0 . m 12, and the mean light level has fluctuated between 0.94 and 0.99. Observations within eclipse revealed that the eclipses are partial, not total as previously thought, and a new time of mid-eclipse was found to be JD (hel.)=2444 500.6665±0 . d 0008. The Russell model was used to solve the 1980 light curve. Elements of the rectified light curve werei=86 . ° 35±0 . ° 09,r h =0.070±0.002,r c =0.125±0.001,L h (V)=0.585±0.008 andL h (B)=0.683±0.010. The geometric elements were forced on the pre-1980 light curves and found to be compatible. With these elements and previously obtained double-lined radial velocity curves, new absolute dimensions have been calculated: 1.18M and 1.58R for the hotter star and 1.27M and 2.83R for the cooler star. B andV photometry of DM UMa obtained between January, 1980 and June, 1984 is presented. Analysis yields a mean photometric period 7d.478±0d.010, compared to the known oribital period of 7d.492±0d.009. Light curves obtained during any two seasons do not agree in any of the following: shape, amplitude, phases of the light maxima and minima, mean light level, or brightness at the light maxima and minima. From the change inB-V over the photometric period, we concludethat the hemisphere visible during the light minimum is cooler than that seen during light maximum. The mean colorB-V=1m.065±0m.002 is consistent with K1 III or K2 IV. Phases of light minima lie on two well-separated groups with different slopes; the corresponding periods are 7d.471±0d.002 and 7d.481±0d.001, in dicating that both migrate linearly towards decreasing orbital phase. In terms of the starspot model this indicates that two respective centers of activity were situated at different longitudes and latitudes on a differentially rotating star. From circumstantial evidence we infer that the dark region seen from 1979 onwards disintegrated sometime between the 1982 and 1983 observing seasons, leaving behind an area of relatively high surface brightness. We can put a lower limit of about four years on the lifetime of a center of activity.  相似文献

The results of photoelectricUBV observations of asteroid 77 Frigga during the 1982 opposition are presented. From eight nights of observations at phase angles smaller than 2 o . 8 a synodic period of 0 d . 3755±0 d . 0006 is derived. The light curve appears very symmetric with two maxima per period and an amplitude of 0 m . 19. The primary maximum corresponds toV(0o)=8 m . 58, and the colour indices are:B–V = 0 . m 738 ± 0 . m 003 andU–B = 0 . m 200 ± 0 . m 002.  相似文献

Photometric data extracted from more than 5000 CCD observations of theMilky Way field star NSV 01450, with galactic co-ordinates l =145°.9and b=4° .9, show that this object is a bright classical Cepheid witha period of 12.639 ± 0.020 days and an average V magnitude of 11.045± 0.016. The computed colour excess is E(B-V)= 0.553± 0.056, yielding a distance modulus m V -MV of 15.537 ± 0.212.In addition, it was found that the star GSC 3730_0797 in the field ofNSV 01450 is also variable.  相似文献

Differential photometry of the RS CVn-type binary 54 Cam in 1978, 1979, and 1980 shows its light to be variable with a period of 10 . d 163±0 . d 009 and an amplitude inV (max. to min.) which increased from 0 . m 03 to 0 . m 06 between 1979.19 and 1980.82. An epoch of light minimum was JD 2444529.7. We present multi-colour CCD observations of the low-temperature contact binaries, V453 Mon and V523 Cas. Their light curves are modelled to determine a new set of stellar and orbital parameters. Analysis of mid-eclipse times yields a new linear ephemeris for both systems. A period decrease (dP/dt=2.3×10−7 days/yr) in V453 Mon is discovered. V523 Cas, however, is detected to show a period increase (dP/dt=9.8×10−8 days/yr) because of the mass transfer of a rate of 1.1×10−7 M yr−1, from a less massive donor. Using these findings we can determine the physical parameters of the components of V523 Cas to be M 1=0.76 (3)M , M 2=0.39 (2)M , R 1=0.74 (2)R , R 2=0.55 (2)R , L 1=0.19 (3)L , L 2=0.14 (3)L , and the distance of system as 46(9) pc.  相似文献

The photoelectric light curves of XY Cet of Srivastava and Padalia (1975) and of Morrison and Morrison (1968), from which considerably different sets of photometric elements have previously been deduced, were re-analyzed in detail. The elements derived in the present study from Srivastava and Padalia's (1975)UBV observations arer g=0.157±0.006 (p.e.),r s=0.142±0.007,i=88°.4±0°.5,L g=0.600±0.017, 0.602±0.015 and 0.584±0.018 forU, B andV, respectively. It is also found from their light curves that the system has an eccentric orbit withe cos =0.0026±0.0005. The elements deduced from theV observations of Morrison and Morrison (1968) are found to be in satisfactory agreement with those presented above.The existence of theAm characteristics of both components, which was recognized by earlier spectroscopic observations, are supported by theB-V andU-B color indices and [m 1] value of the system. Both components are also found to have appreciably evolved, as expected for metallicline stars.  相似文献

Sinusoidal variations in bothV - andB-bands were detected in some flare stars of the UV Ceti type outside of flares. This detection has confirmed the light variation detection in Johnson'sV -band in EV Lac at quiet-state luminosity by Pettersen (1980) with a cyclic period equals about 4 . d 378 and an amplitude of about 0 . m 07. An interpretation of these short cyclic periods is that they are due to intensity modulations from a photospheric spot group as a result of stellar equatorial rotations. A short period of 14 days with an amplitude of 0 . m 099 was detected inB-band in AD Leo. For the two flare stars, BD+55° 1823 and DO Cep in bothV- andB-bands, cyclic periods of more than 3 days and less than 17 days with amplitudes more than 0 . m 090 and less than 0 . m 250 have been registered. A significant contribution has been found in the flare star EV Lac in bothV- andB-bands at its quiescent-state luminosity where the detected cyclic periods are agreed with that which was detected by Pettersen (1980) in the same flare star in Johnson'sV-band, about 4 days. Furthermore, we found the same cyclic period in the colour index,B - V (about 4 days) which strengthens starspot phenomenon. Two sets of observations of the WR-eclipsing binary CV Ser were carried out in 1982 and 1983 in the standard photometric systemUBV. Since 1982, the depth of the atmospheric eclipse has changed and does not show in theV data obtained in 1983. There is significant intrinsic variability (0 . m 05) in the light curves of CV Ser over both sets of observations and it is suggested that this is due to the changing mass-loss rate from the envelope of the WC8 star on time-scales from days to months. The observed mass-loss rate can change the mass by some 10–5 M y–1. An orbital inclinationi=72±2° is obtained.  相似文献

The RS CVn-type eclipsing binary AR Lac has been observed in two colours,B andV, in 1978 and 1979. Several times of minima have been obtained during the observations and the new light elements have been calculated. The orbital period of the system was found to be decreasing with an amount of 14.6 s century–1.The light curves of the system obtained inB andV show a significant wave-like distortion outside eclipses. The amplitudes of the wave-like distortion inB andV are about 0 . m 09 and 0 . m 10 in 1978, and, 0 . m 12 and 0 . m 13 in 1979, respectively. The minima of the wave-like distortion have shifted with an amount of 0 . p 40 in one year, thus indicating the migration period of the wave-like distortion is about 2.5 yr.A noticeable variation of light during the totality of primary minimum has also been observed. This variation can be attributed to the distortion wave which has been moving towards decreasing phases.  相似文献

Photometric observation of HR 1099 inV andB obtained on 18 nights between January and March 1977 is presented. The amplitude of the asymmetric light curve is found to be 0m.10±0m.004 both inV andB. On three occasions—namely, JD 2443164. 17, JD 2443176. 14 and JD 2443177.12—the star brightened by 0m.05. Four H spectrograms at 42 Å mm–1 dispersion were obtained during October–November 1978. The profile and equivalent width of H of 14 November, 1978 suggest a probable major outburst.Analysis of all available photometry shows that (1) the amplitude and shape of the light curve change in a few orbital periods, (2) the phase of the minimum light migrated towards decreasing orbital phase during the interval JD 2442720 to JD 2443000 and from JD 2443200, there is almost a linear increase of the phase of the minimum light and (3) the phase of the light minimum sometimes shows to and fro behaviour suggesting the migration of the wave is not taking place smoothly.  相似文献

We present light curve solutions for the W UMa-type eclipsing binaries EP, EQ, ER, ES, and V369 Cep in the old open cluster NGC 188. Using light curve solution parameters combined with reasonable mass estimates, we determine the distance modulusV-M vof the cluster. Our aim is to examine if current uncertainties in the cluster's distance and age can be resolved. Three binaries yield distance moduli close to 10 . m 80 (±0 . m 08), two others give values around 11 . m 40(±0 . m 09). Depending on the amount of reddening, we find a weighted mean distance modulus for all five binaries between 11 . m 01 and 11 . m 05 (±0 . m 06), which lends modest support for the lower distance (1.65 kpc) and older age (10 Gyr) of the cluster.Participants in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at Florida International University, sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of spectroscopic and photometric observations of the early-type W UMa system V535 Ara. New high-resolution spectra were taken at the Mt. John University Observatory in 2007. Radial velocities and spectroscopic orbital elements of the system were determined by applying KOREL spectral disentangling. The resulting orbital elements were: a1sini = 0.0047 ± 0.0001 AU, a2sini = 0.0146 ± 0.0001 AU, M1sin3i = 1.85 ± 0.01 M, and M2sin3i = 0.59 ± 0.01 M. The components were found to be in synchronous rotation following examination of their disentangled Hγ line profiles. Four photometric data-sets (1966 BV, 1967 BV, HIPPARCOS and ASAS) were modeled using the Wilson-Devinney method. The model describes V535 Ara as an A sub-type W UMa type eclipsing binary which has a fill out factor of 0.22 in marginal contact configuration. The simultaneous solution of light and radial velocity curves gave the following absolute parameters: M1 = 1.94 ± 0.04 M, M2 = 0.59 ± 0.02 M, R1 = 2.09 ± 0.03 R, R2 = 1.23 ± 0.02R, L1 = 18 ± 3 L and L2 = 6 ± 1 L. The distance to V535 Ara was calculated as 123 ± 20 pc using distance modulus with correction for interstellar extinction.  相似文献

In the open cluster NGC 752, 89 stars are observed in the Vilnius seven-colour photometric system, including probable members fainter than observed hitherto. Spectral classification of observed stars are made and individual reddening values are determined. The mean reddening of the cluster stars is equivalentE(B - V) = 0 . m 025. By fitting on colour index-magnitude diagrams the cluster Main Sequence with the Hyades one the distance modulus (m - M)0 = 8 . m 15 ± 0 . m 15 is found. For 11 red giant members of the cluster absolute magnitudes are derived and compared with ones of the standard calibration. It is obtained that the cluster giants are in mean 0 . m 6 fainter than giants of corresponding spectral class in the solar vicinity.  相似文献

TheUBV photoelectric light curve of IW Per as an ellipsoidal variable was obtained and a number of spectrograms were taken with dispersion of 10 Å mm–1. New spectroscopic orbital elements are determined for this single-line spectroscopic binary to beK 1=99.3 km s–1, =0.2 km s–1,a sini=1.80R andf(m)=0.093m . From analysis of the light curve, the geometric ellipticity coefficient of the distorted components is determined to beZ=0.037.Applying the second-order theory of light variation due to distorted components (Kopal and Kitamura, 1968), the orbital inclination and fractional radius of the primary component can be deduced simultaneously to bei=63° andr 1=0.294. By takingm 1=2.0m for the mass of the primary component with spectral type A5Vm, the mass of the secondary can be also deduced to bem 2=1.08m , which would correspond to a G0-type if it is a Main-Sequence star. These elements indicate that the system is a non-eclipsing detached close binary.From intensity measurements of the lines Caii-K, Srii 4215 and Scii 4320 on twenty-eight good spectrograms taken at various phases, those intensities and the intensity ratio Sc/Sr are found to vary systematically with phase. From these variations the distribution of the local metallicity on the surface of the Am primary component is discussed in connection with the distribution of the local surface temperature.  相似文献

The Crosa and Boynton (1980) empirical model for discrete mass transfer in Her X-1 is further developed. The photometric features of the light curve (peaks of an hour duration and 0.3–0.7 m amplitude, steps near orbital phase =0); and the linear polarization bursts are assumed to be due to the formation and eclipses of the plasma blobs produced by discrete transfer of matter from optical star surface and its interaction with the accretion disc rim. The long lifetime (20h) of the cold (3×104 K) blob extending up to 1011 cm above the disc plane, as well as the deep X-ray flickerings (300 s) during the X-ray absorption dips are assumed to arise from a dispersal of accreting matter by the Rayleigh-Taylor instability in a blob moving through a hot corona of the disk atT c =3×106 K andn c =3×1011 cm–3. Thermal equilibrium in the corona and in the blobs are supported by X-ray flux. Within the first few hours after its formation a blob disintegrates into drops withr=5×109 cm,T=3×104 K, andn=3×1013 cm–3 which move then along Keplerian orbits. Frictional interactions of the drops with the corona destroy them on a 20h time-scale. The proposed model makes it possible to interpret the diverse observational facts and to predict numerous observational displays in the optical, UV, and X-ray bands. The first results of our optical-spectrum observations of blobs are briefly described.  相似文献

Photoelectric observations of WX Eridani inB andV filters have been discussed. The maximum magnitudes of the system areB=9 m .70 andV=9 m .46. TheB-V colours of the components are 0 m .16 and 0 m .80 for the primary and the secondary, respectively, while their spectral types are A5+K0. In this paper, new trigonometric series representations of the orbital inclination functionF imp (i) in multiples of cosines or sines will be established for all possible values ofl, m, andp. For such representations, the literal analytical expressions and the recurrence formulae satisfied by their coefficients will be established. Moreover, an economic algorithm for the table formulation of these coefficients for the possible values ofl, m, andp is given.
