Salt marsh sediment volume decreases from organic decomposition, compaction of solids, and de-watering, and each of these processes may change with age. Variability in the vertical accretion rate within the upper 2 m was determined by assembling results from concurrent application of the 137Cs and 210Pb dating techniques used to estimate sediment age since 1963/1964, and 0 to ca 100+ years before present (yBP), respectively. The relationship between 210Pb and the 137Cs dated accretion rates (Sed210 and Sed137, respectively) was linear for 45 salt marsh and mangrove environments. Sed210 averaged 75% of Sed137 suggesting that vertical accretion over the last 100+ years is driven by soil organic matter accumulation, as shown for the pre 137Cs dated horizon. The ratio of Sed210/Sed137 declines with increasing mineral content. A linear multiple regression equation that includes bulk density and Sed137 to predict Sed210 described 97% of the variance in Sed210. Sediments from Connecticut, Delaware and Louisiana coastal environments dated with 14C indicate a relatively constant sediment accretion rate of 0.13 cm year−1 for 1000–7000 yBP, which occurs within 2 m of today's marsh surface and equals modern sea level rise rates. Soil subsidence is not shown to be distinctly different in these vastly different coastal settings. The major reason why the Sed137 measurements indicate higher accretion rates than do the Sed210 measurements is because the former apply to younger sediments where the effects of root growth and decomposition are greater than in the latter. The most intense rates of change in soil volume in organic-rich salt marshes sediments is, therefore, neither in deep or old sediments (>4 m; >1000 years), but within the first several hundreds of years after accumulation. The average changes in organic and inorganic constituents downcore are nearly equal for 58 dated sediment cores from the northern Gulf of Mexico. These parallel changes downcore are best described as resulting from compaction, rather than from organic matter decomposition. Thus most of the volumetric changes in these salt marsh sediments occurs in the upper 2 m, and declines quickly with depth. Extrapolation forwards or backwards, using results from the 210Pb and the 137Cs dating technique appear to be warranted for the types of samples from the environments described here.  相似文献

Polar bears bioaccumulate lipophilic pollutants, including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), into their bodies from their exclusive diet of marine organisms. Hydroxylated PCB metabolites (OH-PCBs) have been found in plasma, presumably due to CYP-dependent biotransformation of PCBs in liver. Little is known about the phase 2 metabolism of hydroxylated xenobiotics in polar bears. The objective of this study was to examine UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) activity with OH-PCBs and a hydroxylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, 3-hydroxy-benzo(a)pyrene (3-OH-BaP), in polar bear liver. Samples of frozen polar bear liver were used to prepare microsomes. UGT activity with 3-OH-BaP in Brij-treated microsomes, measured by a fluorescence assay, was readily measurable with protein concentrations in assay tubes of up to 10 μg/ml, but dropped off very sharply at higher protein concentrations. The apparent Km for 3-OH-BaP was 1.71 ± 0.04 μM, and Vmax 1.26 ± 0.16 nmol/min/mg protein (mean ± SD, n=3). UGT activities with a model tetrachloro-OH-PCB (4-OH-CB72) and a model hexachloro-OH-PCB (4-OH-CB159) were assayed with [14-C]-UDPGA and separation of the [14-C]-glucuronide by ion-pair extraction and thin-layer chromatography. [14-C]-glucuronide conjugates were readily formed by polar bear liver microsomes in the absence of added substrate, apparently from contaminants present in liver. This phenomenon was not observed using hepatic microsomes from laboratory-held catfish. Glucuronidation efficiency was much higher with 4-OH-CB72 (Km 7.3 μM; Vmax 1.55 nmol/min/mg) than 4-OH-CB159 (Km 16.1 μM; Vmax 0.46 nmol/min/mg). The identities of the aglycones present in polar bear liver are not known, but could include OH-PCBs or hydroxylated metabolites of other persistent organic pollutants. This study characterizes humic substances (HS) from two soils colonized by Spartina maritima at different physiographical positions in estuarine environments on the north-western coast of the Iberian Peninsula: the Villaviciosa site, a stand close to the main tidal channel, and the Ortigueira site, located in the low salt marsh. Humic and fulvic acids were extracted from the soils and characterized qualitatively by the following spectroscopic techniques: Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance.The characterized HS showed a predominance of low humified compounds with a high proportion of aliphatic components and a low degree of aromaticity. The HS composition differed substantially between sites. In the Villaviciosa soil, the large amount of nonpolar aliphatic components and the very low degree of aromaticity may indicate a significant contribution of marine organic matter and/or microbial material to the HS. However, in the HS from the Ortigueira soil, the higher proportion of polysaccharides together with the presence of lignin-derived compounds may indicate greater inputs of vascular plant material. The δ13C isotopic composition of the bulk soils highlights the large input of Spartina maritima debris to the Ortigueira site, whereas in the Villaviciosa site, organic contributions from this C4 vascular plant were not so evident.The results indicate that in these soils colonized by Spartina maritima, physiographical position has an important effect on the composition of soil HS and, therefore, must be considered in the study of organic matter characteristics in such estuarine environments.  相似文献

Elemental (TOC, TN, C/N) and stable carbon isotopic (δ13C) compositions and n-alkane (nC16–38) concentrations were measured for Spartina alterniflora, a C4 marsh grass, Typha latifolia, a C3 marsh grass, and three sediment cores collected from middle and upper estuarine sites from the Plum Island salt marshes. Our results indicated that the organic matter preserved in the sediments was highly affected by the marsh plants that dominated the sampling sites. δ13C values of organic matter preserved in the upper fresh water site sediment were more negative (−23.0±0.3‰) as affected by the C3 plants than the values of organic matter preserved in the sediments of middle (−18.9±0.8‰) and mud flat sites (−19.4±0.1‰) as influenced mainly by the C4 marsh plants. The distribution of n-alkanes measured in all sediments showed similar patterns as those determined in the marsh grasses S. alterniflora and T. latifolia, and nC21 to nC33 long-chain n-alkanes were the major compounds determined in all sediment samples. The strong odd-to-even carbon numbered n-alkane predominance was found in all three sediments and nC29 was the most abundant homologue in all samples measured. Both δ13C compositions of organic matter and n-alkane distributions in these sediments indicate that the marsh plants could contribute significant amount of organic matter preserved in Plum Island salt marsh sediments. This suggests that salt marshes play an important role in the cycling of nutrients and organic carbon in the estuary and adjacent coastal waters.  相似文献

Metals in contaminated salt marshes are mainly locked in the anaerobic layer of sediments, where they are tightly bound as sulfides and organic complexes. Vascular plants survive in saturated soils in part by pumping O2 into their root zones, changing their microenvironment to an oxic one. This, along with chelating exudates, mobilizes metals, allowing uptake by the roots. We compared the common reed Phragmites australis and cordgrass Spartina alterniflora in lab and field studies for ways in which they handle trace metals. Both plants store most of their metal burden in their roots, but some is transported to aboveground tissues. Spartina leaves contain approximately 2-3 x more Cr, Pb, and Hg than Phragmites leaves, but equivalent Cu and Zn. Furthermore, Spartina leaves have salt glands, so leaf excretion of all metals is twice that of Phragmites. In-depth studies with Hg indicate that Hg excretion correlates with Na release but not with transpiration, which is 2.2 x higher in Phragmites; and that more Hg accumulates in early-appearing leaves than in upper (i.e. later) leaves in both species. Spartina thus makes more metals available to salt marsh ecosystems than Phragmites by direct excretion and via dead leaves which will enter the food web as detritus.  相似文献

在刺参苗种工厂化生产期间,以体积浓度为0.1%~0.5%薄荷醇作为麻醉剂,通过对玻璃海鞘和不同规格参苗进行麻醉剥离实验,研究参苗与敌害生物——玻璃海鞘分离的效果,从而达到高效清除玻璃海鞘的目的。结果表明:薄荷醇溶液对玻璃海鞘无剥离和杀除的作用效果;大规格(0.58 g±0.05 g)刺参选用浓度0.4%~0.5%薄荷醇溶液麻醉20 min,中规格(0.32 g±0.05 g)刺参选用浓度0.2%~0.5%薄荷醇溶液麻醉20min,小规格(0.17 g±0.01 g)刺参选用浓度0.4%~0.5%薄荷醇溶液麻醉10min以及选用浓度0.1%~0.3%薄荷醇溶液麻醉20 min,抖动脱落率均可达90%以上,麻醉剥离效果显著。麻醉剥离后的刺参经1h的恢复即可达到自然状态,营正常活动附着,无排脏或化皮等不良应激反应。因此,采用薄荷醇麻醉剥离参苗可为安全高效清除玻璃海鞘及分苗的生产环节提供省工省力、高效便捷的方法。  相似文献

为探究肿瘤易感基因101(简称TSG101)对斑节对虾(Penaeusmonodon)的免疫应答作用,了解在细菌刺激下斑节对虾的机体发生的变化机制,本研究以哈维弧菌(Vibrioharveyi)和金黄色葡萄球菌(Staphylococcusaureus)为实验组,以磷酸缓冲液(PBS)为对照组,通过荧光定量分析展开对斑节对虾对菌刺激的免疫应答作用。结果显示,斑节对虾的TSG101在各组织中均有表达,在肝胰腺中的表达量最高。在金黄色葡萄球菌刺激下,斑节对虾的TSG101在肝胰腺中的表达量与对照组相比呈极显著上调(P0.01),第12小时的TSG101 mRNA的表达量达到最大(为对照组的21.60倍);在鳃中的表达量与对照组相比呈极显著上调(P0.01),第6小时斑节对虾TSG101的表达量达到最大值(为对照组的3.64倍)。在注射哈维弧菌第9小时,肝胰腺中的PmTSG101 mRNA表达量极显著上调(P0.01)且达到最大(为对照组的2.50倍)。实验结果初步表明,斑节TSG101参与斑节对虾的先天免疫反应,在金黄色葡萄球菌和哈维弧菌的刺激的情况下,该基因RNA水平的表达情况发生明显变化。  相似文献

Plant-flow interactions on the surface of tidal wetlands result in flow characteristics that are profoundly different from non-vegetated flows. Reductions in mean flow velocity and turbulence, especially the vertical components, limit vertical mixing and may impact a wide range of processes including geochemical exchanges at the sediment water interface, larval recruitment and dispersion, and sediment deposition and retention. The goal of this paper is to quantify horizontal and vertical components of velocity, turbulence intensity and total turbulent kinetic energy in Spartina alterniflora canopies in southeastern North Carolina and to relate flow characteristics to particulate transport on the marsh surface. Another aim of this paper is to assess the extent to which the distribution of standing biomass affects mean flow and turbulence by comparing S. alterniflora data to other canopy types and through a series of canopy manipulations which altered canopy height and stem densities.The results of this study indicate that flow velocity, turbulence intensity, and total turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) are significantly reduced within the vegetated canopy and that this reduction is inversely related to the amount of biomass present in the water column. Within the canopy, approximately 50% of the initial mean velocity and TKE is reduced within 5 m of the canopy edge. Within the canopy, mean velocity and TKEhoriz usually exceeded vertical velocity or TKEvert and the vertical components of flow were attenuated more strongly than the horizontal. These results suggest that within the vegetation, turbulence contributes more to lateral advection than to vertical mixing. As a result, total suspended solid concentrations were shown to decrease logarithmically with distance from the canopy edge and to decrease at a faster rate in more densely vegetated regions of the canopy (i.e. lower TKEvert) as compared to areas of sparser vegetation (i.e. higher TKEvert).  相似文献

The mixing behaviour of iron, manganese, phosphate and humic acid in a Delaware salt marsh creek was studied using field data, laboratory mixing experiments, and geochemical mass balance equations. Property-salinity diagrams for field data indicated that the removal of iron is 56–70% in the 0–10‰ salinity range. A proposed mechanism of removal is the flocculation of colloidal iron, perhaps with humic acid. Phosphate, however, undergoes 195% addition in the same low salinity region, which may be due to release of phosphate from resuspended sediments. Dissolved manganese is conserved, as is humic acid throughout the salt marsh mixing zone. Within the uncertainty of the data the maximum possible removal of humic acid is 23%.Laboratory mixing experiments that simulated salt marsh mixing along the same salinity gradient as observed in the field (5–25‰) showed only small-scale additions and removals compared to the field results. Such small-scale changes occurred largely at salinities >10‰ in the laboratory experiments, whereas most removals and additions occurred at salinities <10‰ in the field. Mixing studies also showed little difference between prefiltered and unfiltered mixes. The studies suggest that simple mixing of salt marsh waters, with or without suspended material, does not strongly influence the observed behaviour of dissolved constituents in salt marshes, and that other processes (e.g. sediment or intertidal exchange) must dominate their behaviour.  相似文献

文蛤(Meretrixpetechialis)是我国一种重要的海水养殖贝类,其养殖过程中病害导致的规模性死亡时有发生,已有的工作证实致病性弧菌是导致文蛤大规模死亡最为常见的病原。在本研究中,我们通过浸泡感染实验模拟了文蛤在自然条件下的弧菌胁迫环境,明确了攻毒水体中弧菌生长变化规律;攻毒过程中宿主载菌量分析显示,文蛤肝胰腺组织弧菌载量在攻毒后呈第1天急剧上升,第3天迅速下降的变化趋势,而且不同个体间载菌量差异较大;通过不同弧菌含量攻毒实验,发现在攻毒早期文蛤体内弧菌载量与水体环境的弧菌含量之间呈显著的正相关(Spearman’sρ=0.899,P=0.000),而在感染中后期不同攻毒强度组之间无显著差异,且呈现较低水平,为0~205CFU/mg,预示着宿主免疫系统和肝胰腺微生物群落可将致病菌的数量控制在一定的范围。上述研究为开展文蛤感染发病过程中弧菌载量和免疫抗性评价相关研究提供了参考。  相似文献

The aim of the present work was to understand the role different salt marsh plants on metal distribution and retention in the Lima River estuary (NW Portugal), which to our knowledge have not been ascertained in this area yet. The knowledge of these differences is an important requirement for the development of appropriate management strategies, and is poorly described for Eurosiberian estuaries, like the one selected. In addition it is important to understand the difference among introduced and native salt marsh plants. In this work, metal levels (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) were surveyed (by atomic absorption spectrometry) in sediments from sites vegetated with Juncus maritimus, Spartina patens, Phragmites australis and Triglochin striata (rhizo-sediments), in non-vegetated sediments and in the different tissues of the plants (roots, rhizomes and aerial shoots). In general, rhizo-sediments had higher metal concentrations than non-vegetated sediments, a feature that seems common to sediments colonized by salt marsh plants of different estuarine areas. All plants concentrated metals, at least Cd, Cu and Zn (and Pb for T. striata) in their belowground structures ([M]belowground tissues/[M]non-vegetated sediment > 1). However, when considered per unit of salt marsh area, the different selected plants played a different role on sediment metal distribution and retention. Triglochin striata retained a significant metal burden in it belowground structures (root plus rhizomes) acting like a possible phyto-stabilizer, whereas P. australis had an higher metal burden in aboveground tissues acting as a possible phyto-extractor. As for J. maritimus and S. patens, metal burden distribution between above and belowground structures depended on the metal, with J. maritimus retaining, for instance, much more Cd and Cu in the aboveground than in the belowground structures. Therefore, the presence of invasive and exotic plants in some areas of the salt marsh may considerably affect metal distribution and retention in the estuarine region.  相似文献

滨海盐沼作为重要的海岸带生态系统,在海岸保护、生物多样性维持、固碳减污等方面发挥了重要的生态服务功能。及时准确地监测滨海盐沼分布情况和动态变化,对于科学地管理和保护本地滨海盐沼生态系统意义重大。本研究基于2019年和2021年多源国产高空间分辨率卫星数据,结合无人机自主性强、灵活机动、不受云遮挡影响的优势,对广西壮族自治区滨海盐沼开展遥感跟踪监测。研究结果表明,广西2021年滨海盐沼总面积为1 341.40 hm2,其中,北海市、防城港市和钦州市3个海滨城市的滨海盐沼面积分别为1 247.82 hm2、49.73 hm2和43.85 hm2。与2019年相比,广西2021年滨海盐沼总面积减少108.96 hm2,其中,北海市互花米草(Spartina alterniflora)面积减少107.05 hm2,钦州市短叶茳芏(Cyperus malaccensis)和芦苇(Phragmites australis)面积减少1.91 hm2,防城港市滨海盐沼面积不变。广西当地对入侵种互花米草的治理卓有成效,互花米草大范围减少,但局部区域的互花米草分布仍呈不断增长的趋势,仍需重视对互花米草的监测与防控工作。  相似文献

以江苏文蛤(Meretrix meretrix)为研究对象,采集红壳色文蛤原种、黄壳色文蛤原种、红壳色文蛤选育F1、红壳色文蛤选育F2 4个群体,检测其主要非挥发性鲜味物质成分单磷酸腺苷(AMP)、单磷酸鸟苷(GMP)、次黄嘌呤核苷酸(IMP)、琥珀酸、游离氨基酸、无机离子(Na~+、K~+、Cl~–、PO_4~(3–))的含量,并通过味道强度值(TAV)评价其呈味作用。鉴于核苷酸与氨基酸在呈味方面的协同效应,采用味精当量(EUC)评价不同文蛤群体的鲜味品质。结果表明,文蛤软体组织中AMP、琥珀酸、谷氨酸、精氨酸、丙氨酸、Na+、K~+、Cl~–的TAV值大于1,是文蛤鲜味的主要贡献者;红壳色文蛤原种的鲜味强度最大(4.92 g/100g),其子代红壳色文蛤F1(4.08 g/100g)、红壳色文蛤F2(4.09 g/100g)稍有降低,但仍显著高于黄壳色文蛤原种(3.34 g/100g)(P0.05),表明江苏红壳色文蛤在鲜味品质方面具有相对稳定的较高品质。  相似文献

对野生重口裂腹鱼[Schizothorax(Racoma) davidi(Sauvage)]的性腺发育观察与人工繁殖进行了研究。结果表明,重口裂腹鱼雄鱼3龄达到性成熟,而雌鱼5龄以上方达到性成熟,其性腺指数随着年龄增加而显著上升(P<0.05);雌鱼性腺指数、绝对怀卵量和卵径随着年龄和体重增加明显上升(P<0.05orP<0.01)。对24尾5、6龄雌、雄重口裂腹鱼采用二针注射法进行人工催产实验,平均采卵数为1.33万粒和2.02万粒,采精量为25.4ml和34.8ml。其平均卵子受精率和受精卵出膜时间分别为74.2%和77.1%、203h和227h[水温(16.2±0.9)℃],6龄雌鱼受精卵的卵径、卵重均明显高于5龄雌鱼,6龄雌鱼的受精卵孵化率为41.9%,明显高于5龄雌鱼的30.6%(P<0.05orP<0.01),选用年龄较大的雌鱼作为亲鱼,是保证人工繁殖获得良好效果的关键。  相似文献

为探讨高盐胁迫对壳长约2 cm缢蛏(Sinonovacula constricta)幼贝存活和酶活性的影响,本研究设置盐度分别为20‰(S20)、25‰(S25)、30‰(S30)、35‰(S35)、40‰(S40)和45‰(S45)6个组别胁迫缢蛏,测定各组幼贝死亡率,并计算不同胁迫时间的半致死盐度(LC50);同时研究了S20、S30和S40组幼贝软体部Na+-K+-ATP酶(NKA)、酸性磷酸酶(ACP)、碱性磷酸酶(AKP)三种酶在不同胁迫时间的活性变化特征。结果表明,实验处理120 h后,各组死亡率分别为0、(2.17±0.85)%、(9.50±0.82)%、(30.67±3.70)%、(73.50±7.08)%和(94.67±3.06)%,168 h时S45组的缢蛏幼贝全部死亡;直线内插法计算...  相似文献

盐生隐杆藻(Aphanothece halophytica)是在饱和NaCl条件下可以生存的少数几种耐盐蓝藻之一,作者研究了盐胁迫对盐生隐杆藻细胞内丙二醛含量、2种非酶抗氧化剂含量以及4种抗氧化酶活性的影响。与对照组相比,低盐胁迫和高盐胁迫都抑制盐生隐杆藻的生长。随着盐度胁迫程度的增加,丙二醛含量、非酶抗氧化剂含量和抗氧化酶(除了过氧化氢酶)活性不断增强。上述结果表明:盐胁迫下,盐生隐杆藻细胞内非酶抗氧化剂和抗氧化物酶水平的增加可以应对细胞内升高的氧化伤害,抗氧化防御系统可能在盐生隐杆藻对盐胁迫的耐受机制中发挥了重要作用。  相似文献

2013年4~6月,在室内采用实验生态学的方法进行了海湾扇贝(Argopecten irradias)和孔石莼(Ulva pertusavar)4种配比模式的混养实验。各实验组扇贝密度均为48只/m3,孔石莼密度分别为55、121、255和338g/m3。每周采样测定水体中营养盐(NH4-N、NO3-N、NO2-N、PO4-P)的含量及养殖生物的生长情况。扇贝与孔石莼的混养实验结果表明,在养殖系统中引入孔石莼可以改善养殖环境,扇贝和孔石莼的适宜混合比例为1︰1(贝肉湿质量:藻类湿质量)能取得较好的生态效应。  相似文献

通过研究不同体质量仿刺参(Apostichopus japonicus)的免疫活性, 为仿刺参生长中免疫指标的建立提供依据。实验选取了50、100、150 g 左右的仿刺参各10 只, 测定其体腔细胞数量、各细胞类群比例及部分免疫酶活性。结果表明: 不同体质量的仿刺参, 其体腔细胞数量及各细胞类群、过氧化物酶(POD)、超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)具有显著性变化, 而体腔液中酚氧化酶(PO)活性极低。体质量150 g左右仿刺参的细胞数量和SOD活性较其他两组都明显升高, 细胞类群也有明显变化(P<0.017), 但POD活性显著降低(P<0.05)。不同体质量的仿刺参免疫活性具有显著性差别, 说明了仿刺参免疫组分在生长过程中不断变化, 免疫防御能力在各阶段有所差别。  相似文献

克隆得到缢蛏天然抗性相关巨噬蛋白2(Sc-Nramp2)基因的cDNA全长序列3 681 bp,该基因的开放阅读框有1 776 bp,编码591个氨基酸,预测分子量为65.86 kDa;其结构具有Slc11蛋白家族的典型特征,包括有10个典型的跨膜结构和2个糖基化位点。Sc-Nramp2基因3'-UTR有2个类似于脊椎动物Nramp2中铁反应控制蛋白结合位点;同源性分析表明,Sc-Nramp2和太平洋牡蛎Nramp2-like的同源性最高为71.6%。实时荧光定量PCR结果表明,Sc-Nramp2基因在闭壳肌、外套膜、肝胰腺、斧足、水管和鳃6个组织中均有表达,其中肝胰腺中的表达量最高,其次是鳃,与其他组织均有极显著性差异(P<0.01);注射副溶血弧菌后,肝胰腺中Sc-Nramp2基因的表达量较对照组显著上调(P<0.01),且表达量呈现先上升后下降的趋势,在12 h时达到最大表达量,推测Sc-Nramp2基因参与了缢蛏非特异性免疫应答反应。  相似文献
