The dynamic response of a finite number of flexible surface foundations subjected to harmonic incident Rayleigh or SH waves is presented. The foundations are assumed to be resting on an elastic half-space. The results show that the foundation stiffness has a marked effect on the vertical response, while there is only a minor effect on the horizontal displacements. In general, the dynamic response decreases with increasing foundation stiffness. In cases of Rayleigh wave incidence, the existence of an adjacent foundation generates a certain amount of horizontal response in the direction perpendicular to the incident wave and subsequently causes the system to undergo a torsional motion; while in cases of horizontally incident SH waves, a vertical response has been observed and its magnitude is comparable to the response in the direction of the incident wave.  相似文献

A closed-form analytical solution is presented for the dynamic response of a SDOF oscillator, supported by a flexible foundation embedded in an elastic half-space, and excited by plane SH waves. The solution is obtained by the wave function expansion method. The solution is verified for the special case of a rigid foundation by comparison with published results. The model is used to investigate the effect of the foundation flexibility on the system response. The results show that the effect is significant for both foundation response and structural relative response. For a system with more flexible foundation, the radiation damping is smaller, the foundation response is larger, especially for obliquely incident waves, while the structural relative response is smaller, and the system frequency shifts towards lower frequencies. This simple model may be helpful to obtain insight into the effects of soil–structure interaction for a slim structure on an extended flexible foundation.  相似文献

A closed-form analytical solution is presented for the dynamic response of a SDOF oscillator, supported by a flexible composite foundation embedded in an elastic half-space, and excited by plane SH waves. The solution is obtained by the wave function expansion method. The solution is verified for the two limiting cases of a rigid–flexible composite foundation and a homogeneous flexible foundation by comparison with published results. The model is used to investigate the effect of the foundation flexibility variation on the system response. The results show that the effect is significant for both foundation response and structural relative response. For a system with larger foundation flexibility variation, the peak of the foundation effective input motion is smaller, while the amplitude of structural relative response less changes. When foundation flexibility variation decreases, system frequency will shift to lower frequency, and the shift value is also highly dependent on the foundation flexibility variation.  相似文献

A computationally efficient boundary integral equation technique to calculate the dynamic response of a group of rigid surface foundations bonded to a layered viscoelastic half-space and subjected to external forces and seismic waves is presented. The technique relies on an iterative scheme which minimizes in-core memory requirements and takes advantage of any geometrical symmetry of the foundations. Extensive results for the case of two rigid square foundations placed at different separations and bonded to a viscoelastic half-space are presented. It was found that the choice of discretization of the foundations has a marked effect on the calculated impedance functions for extremely small separations. Illustrative results for a case of several closely-spaced foundations bonded to a layered half-space are also presented.  相似文献

The linear response of an idealized concrete gravity dam monolith to harmonic horizontal or vertical ground motion is presented for a range of the important system parameters that characterize the properties of the dam, foundation rock, impounded water and reservoir bottom materials. Based on these frequency response functions, the effects of alluvium and sediments at the reservoir bottom on the response of the dam, including its interaction with the impounded water and foundation rock, are investigated. It is shown that the partial absorption of hydrodynamic pressure waves by the reservoir bottom materials has an important effect on the dynamic response of concrete gravity dams.  相似文献

A time domain Boundary Element-Finite method is employed to determine the dynamic response of flexible surface two-dimensional foundations under conditions of plane strain placed on an elastic soil medium and subjected either to transient external forces or to obliquely incident seismic waves. The elastic, isotropic, and homogeneous soil medium is treated by the time domain Direct Boundary Element Method, while the flexible foundation is treated by the Finite Element Method. The two methods are appropriately combined through equilibrium and compatibility considerations at the soil-foundation interface. Parametric studies examining the effect of the relative stiffness between the foundation and the soil and the spatial distribution of the dynamic disturbances on the foundation response are presented.  相似文献

An approximate analytical method is presented for the dynamic response of a rigid cylindrical foundation embedded in a poroelastic soil layer under the excitation of a time-harmonic rocking moment. The soil underlying the foundation base is represented by a single-layered poroelastic soil based on rigid bedrock while the soil along the side of the foundation is modeled as an independent poroelastic stratum composed of a series of infinitesimally thin layers. The accuracy of the present solution is verified by comparisons with existing solutions obtained from other researchers. Numerical results for the rocking dynamic impedance and dynamic response factor are presented to demonstrate the influence of nondimensional frequency of excitation, poroelastic soil layer thickness, depth ratio of the foundation and internal friction of the poroelastic soil.  相似文献

A general procedure is presented to study the dynamic soil–structure interaction effects on the response of long-span suspension and cable-stayed bridges subjected to spatially varying ground motion at the supporting foundations. The foundation system is represented by multiple embedded cassion foundations and the frequency-dependent impedance matrix for the multiple foundations system takes into account also the cross-interaction among adjacent foundations through the soil. To illustrate the potential implementation of the analysis, a numerical example is presented in which the dynamic response of the Vincent–Thomas suspension bridge (Los Angeles, CA) subjected to the 1987 Whittier earthquake is investigated. Although both kinematic and inertial effects are included in the general procedure, only the kinematic effects of the soil–structure interaction are considered in the analysis of the test case. The results show the importance of the kinematic soil–foundation interaction on the structural response. These effects are related to the type, i.e. SH-, SV-, P- or Rayleigh waves and to the inclination of the seismic wave excitation. Moreover, rocking components of the foundation motion are emphasized by the embedment of the foundation system and greatly alter the structural response.  相似文献

A study is carefully conducted for the rocking response of a rigid circular foundation resting on a poroelastic half-space when subjected to seismic waves under the framework of Biot’s theory. The free-field waves, rigid-body scattering field waves and radiation scattering field waves are introduced to consider the complex behavior of the soil owing to the scattering phenomena caused by the existence of the foundation. The contact surface between the soil and the foundation is supposed to be perfectly bonded and fully permeable. Combining with the divided wave fields, two sets of dual integral equations elaborating the mixed boundary-value conditions are established, and then reduced to Fredholm integral equations. Therefore, with a semi-analytical method, the expressions of the rocking displacements are obtained. The numerical results of the rocking vibration of the foundation for incident P, SV and Rayleigh waves are presented. The influences of certain parameters, such as the permeability of the soil, the incident angle, Poisson’s ratio and the mass of the foundation, on the rocking vibration of the foundation are explored and studied. Different reactions are found when the foundation is excited by different waves.  相似文献

The problem of the dynamic response of rigid embedded foundations subjected to the action of external forces and seismic excitation is analysed. It is shown that to calculate the response of rigid embedded foundations, or the response of flat rigid foundations subjected to non-vertically incident seismic waves, it is necessary to obtain not only the impedance matrix for the foundation, but also the forces induced by the incident seismic waves. Under these general conditions, rocking and torsional motion of the foundation is generated in addition to translation. The case of a two-dimensional rigid foundation of semi-elliptical cross-section is used as an example to illustrate the effects of the embedment depth and angle of incidence of the seismic waves on the response of the foundation.  相似文献

A study on the dynamic response of three-dimensional flexible foundations of arbitrary shape, embedded in a homogenous, isotropic and linear elastic half-space is presented. Both massive and massless foundations are considered. The soil-foundation system is subjected to externally applied forces, and/or to obliquely incident seismic waves. The numerical method employed is a combination of the frequency domain Boundary Element Method, which is used to simulate the elastic soil medium, and the Finite Element Method, on the basis of which the stiffness matrix of the foundation is obtained. The foundation and soil media are combined by enforcing compatibility and equilibrium conditions at their common interface. Both relaxed and completely bonded boundary conditions are considered. The accuracy of the proposed methodology is partially verified through comparison studies with results reported in the literature for rigid embedded foundations.  相似文献

An analytical approach is used to study the torsional vibrations of a rigid circular foundation resting on saturated soil to obliquely incident SH waves. Biot’s poroelastic dynamic theory is considered to characterize the saturated soil below the foundation, which is solved by Hankel transform later. In order to consider the scattering phenomena caused by the existence of the foundation, the total wave field in soil is classified into free-field, rigid-body scattering field and radiation scattering field. According to the classification of wave field and the mixed boundary-value conditions between the soil and the foundation, torsional vibrations of the foundation are formulated in two sets of dual integral equations. Then, the dual integral equations are reduced to Fredholm integral equation of the second kind to be solved. Combining with the dynamic equilibrium equations of the foundation, the expressions for the torsional vibrations of the foundation are obtained. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the influence of excitation frequency, incident angle, the torsional inertia moment of the foundation and permeability of the saturated half-space on the torsional vibrations of the foundation.  相似文献

An integral equation technique to calculate the dynamic response of foundations embedded in a layered viscoelastic half-space when subjected to external forces and moments is presented. The technique is based on representing the radiated field as resulting from a set of sources distributed over a surface internal to the actual boundary of the foundation and by imposing the boundary conditions in an integral sense. The resulting non-singular integral equation with symmetric kernel is solved by discretization and reduction to a system of linear algebraic equations. The technique is validated by comparison with previous results for cylindrical foundations with different embedment ratios.  相似文献

A plane strain model for dynamic soil-structure interaction problems under harmonic state is presented. The boundary element method is used to study the response of a homogeneous isotropic linear elastic soil. The far field displacement at the free surface is approximated by an outgoing Rayleigh wave. The finite element method is used to describe the response of the building, of the foundation and possibly of a finite part of the inhomogeneous non-linear soil. Two coupling procedures are described. The model is applied to a problem previously studied in the antiplane case. Incident P, SV and Rayleigh waves are considered. The results show an amplification and an attenuation of the structure motion with frequency when incident Rayleigh waves and P, SV body waves are respectively considered.  相似文献

The problem on the dynamic response of a rigid embedded foundation in the presence of an underground rigid tunnel and subjected to excitation of incident anti-plane SH waves is analyzed. By using the exact analytical solution for the two-dimensional SH-wave propagation in and around both the surface rigid foundation and subsurface rigid tunnel, those aspects of the resulting ground motions that are of special interest and importance for seismic resistant design in earthquake analyses have been examined. The computed amplitudes of the resulting periodic ground motions display a very complicated wave-interference between the surface foundation and underground tunnel that lead to observed standing wave patterns, together with abrupt changes in the wave amplitudes and large amplification of the incident motions. In-plane foundation-soil interaction for embedded circular foundations   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Foundation soil interaction is studied using an analytical two-dimensional model, for circular foundations embedded in a homogeneous elastic half-space and for incident plane P- and SV- and for surface Rayleigh waves. The scattered waves are expanded in complete series of cyclindrical wave functions. A detailed analysis is presented of the foundation response to unit amplitude incident waves as a function of the type of incident waves and angle of incidence, the depth of the embedment and the foundation mass per unit length. It is shown that free-field translations and point rotation approximate well the foundation input motion only for very long incident waves. For shorter incident waves, those in general overestimate the foundation input motion. Neglecting the rotation of the foundation input motion (which is usually done in practice) may eliminate a major contribution to the base excitation of buildings and may cause nonconservative estimates of the forces in these buildings. Incident waves appear as ‘longer’ to a shallow foundation than to a deeper foundation. Therefore, deeper foundations are more effective in reflecting and scattering the short incident waves.  相似文献

A study of the effects of soil-pile-structure interaction on the response of rotational shell structures supported by a group of vertical piles is presented. The interaction effects are included in the dynamic analysis through the development of a frequency dependent boundary system at the interface between the shell and the underlying foundation. The substructure method is used to simplify the connection problem between the shell and the pile foundation. A free vibration analysis of a cooling tower is carried out to investigate the dynamic properties of rotational shells with four different foundation stiffnesses. The effects of soil-pile-structure interaction on the response in the shell are demonstrated by a complex response analysis of a cooling tower.  相似文献
