Methane concentrations and selected chemical parameters in interstitial water were examined along subsurface flowpath in two subsystems (hyporheic and parafluvial sediments) in the Sitka stream, Czech Republic. Interstitial methane concentrations exhibited a distinct spatial pattern. In the hyporheic downwelling zone where the sediments are relatively well oxygenated due to high hydrologic exchange with the surface water, low interstitial methane concentrations, averaging 9.3 μg CH4/l, were found. In contrast, upwelling sediments and parafluvial sediments (active channel sediments lateral to the wetted channel) had significantly higher methane concentrations (p < 0.05, and p < 0.01, respectively), averaging 43.2 μg CH4/l and 160.5 μg CH4/l, respectively. Dissolved oxygen was the highest where surface water entered hyporheic/parafluvial sediments and decreased with water residence time in the sediments (p < 0.01). Nitrate concentrations decreased along the flowpath and were significantly lower at downstream end of the riffle (p < 0.001). Sulfate concentrations also show a slight decline with the water residence time, but differences were not significant. Effect of both nitrate and sulfate on methanogenesis is also discussed. The interstitial methane concentration significantly increased with surface water temperature (p < 0.001) and was negatively correlated with redox potential (p < 0.01) and dissolved oxygen (p < 0.05).  相似文献

Mine excavation in deep black-coal Mayrau Mine, Czech Rep., has a pronounced 7-day periodicity due to the absence of mining during weekend days. Also seismicity induced by mining exhibits some features of the 7-day period. It was found that the number of events generally depends on the intensity of mining, while the analogous dependences of mean energy per event and the total energy per day are weaker. Selective analysis showed that total extent of exploitation has more influences on the seismicity than coining of drifts. The statistical parameters of seismicity (b-value) do not change in accordance with the day of the week.  相似文献

Magnetic properties as well as the magnetomineralogy were investigated in rocks underlying a 7 km long aeromagnetic anomaly situated in the Moldanubian crystalline unit of the Bohemian Massif. The anomaly is caused by highly magnetic cordierite gneiss forming a stripe of NE — SW direction east of the town of Humpolec, eastern Bohemia. Magnetic susceptibility and its anisotropy (AMS), natural remanent magnetization, field and temperature variations of susceptibility were measured. Optical study of thin sections, electron microprobe and Mössbauer studies were also used to reveal the carrier of the high susceptibility and the high NRM. There appear to be two major generations of Fe-Ti oxides: older hematite with ilmenite exsolutions (Ti-hematite) which is the dominant remanence phase, and younger magnetite, the dominant susceptibility phase, usually associated with rutile. This indicates a reaction Hematite + Ilmenite → Magnetite + + Rutile; the trace elements in magnetite, as well as texture and morphology of the oxide grains support this assertion. An additional minor portion of maghemite is revealed by Mössbauer and thermomagnetic results. The Ti-hematite belongs to the oldest mineral assemblage in the rock, despite its anhedral morphology. Inclusions in Ti-hematite, among which corundum and abundant paragonite occur, record a strongly peraluminous and probably disequilibrium association during the crystallization of the Ti-hematite.  相似文献

For some years, the Saxon Academy of Sciences at Leipzig (SAW) is engaged in the research project Contributions to Environmental Research by means of Radiometric-Geochemical Methods in the Vogtland area (Germany). The main goal is to investigate the hydrogeological and hydrochemical parameters of mineral springs in that region and their interrelations. Here, the high CO 2 degassing rates are of particular interest. The isotopic signature of these gases indicates an anomalous high mantle/crust contribution (Weinlich et al., 1999). A further geoscientifically important phenomenon of this region is the high seismicity, in particular the Vogtland/NW Bohemian earthquake swarms. Therefore, we have tried to use the mantle-originated fluids as transport media for information from the seismogenic horizons. The variations of the parameters recorded continuously at the springs for years show a connection to the seismic events of the epicentral area of Nový Kostel in the Czech Republic. In particular, numerous anomalous degassing intervals were recorded at the mineral spring Wettinquelle (formerly: Radonquelle), Bad Brambach, prior to earthquakes occurred in the region of Nový Kostel.  相似文献

This paper studies the influence of afforestation on the water regime in two catchments in the Jizera Mountains that are similar in size and altitude but have different afforestation pattern. In this paper a range of different modelling tools is used to establish whether the differences in catchment water regime can be quantified and attributed to differences in catchment characteristics. Frequency analysis of low and high flows and a number and duration of flows over a threshold value are used to look for the differences in flow regime in both catchments. Low flow conditions are modelled using the Wittenberg nonlinear store approach. A rainfall-runoff process is modelled using a Data Based Mechanistic approach. The results indicate that the differences in the catchment response to external climatic factors outweigh the influence of land use apart from the low flows, where the changes in the response might be attributed to afforestation.  相似文献
