UBV measurements of the light of the night sky in the auroral zone during three seasons are presented. The mean brightness of the night sky in theV band is found to be equal one 18m1 star (arc sec)–2, with considerable variations. The observed meanB-V andU-B indicies are +0 . m 7 and –1 . m 6, respectively.Light curves of variable stars during strong auroral activities are also shown. On the basis of measurements we briefly discuss the possibility of accurate stellar photometry in the auroral region.  相似文献

We analyze the properties of galaxy clusters in the region of the Leo supercluster using observational data from the SDSS and 2MASS catalogs. We have selected 14 galaxy clusters with a total dynamical mass of 1.77 × 1015 M in the supercluster region 130 by 60 Mpc in the plane of the sky (z ≃ 0.037). The composite luminosity function of the supercluster is described by a Schechter function with parameters that, within the error limits, correspond to field galaxies and does not differ from the luminosity function of the richer Ursa Major (UMa) supercluster for the same luminosity range (the bright end). The luminosity functions of early-type and late-type galaxies in Leo at the faint end are characterized by a sharp decrease (α = −0.60±0.08) and a steep increase (α = −1.44± 0.10) in the number of galaxies, respectively. In the virialized cluster regions, the fraction of early-type galaxies selected by the u-r color, bulge contribution, and concentration index among the galaxies brighter than M K * + 1 is, on average, 62%. This fraction is smaller than that in the UMa supercluster at a 2–3σ level. The near-infrared luminosities of galaxy clusters down to a fixed absolute magnitude correlate with their masses almost in the same way as for other samples of galaxy clusters (L 200,K M 2000.63±0.11)).  相似文献

For the future development of Chinese Giant Solar Telescope (CGST) in Western China, a new sky brightness monitor (SBM) has been produced for the site survey for CGST. To critically examine the performance and sensitivity of SBM, we used it in the observation of the annular solar eclipse in Dali City, Yunnan, on 15 January 2010. The observation met good weather conditions with an almost clear sky during the eclipse. The SBM measurement translates into the solar illuminance changes at a level of 2.4×10?4 I?s?1 during the eclipse. The time of the minimal sky brightness in the field of view (FOV) is found consistent with the time of maximum eclipse. Two local sky regions in the FOV are chosen to make a time series of the calibrated skylight profiles. The evolution of the sky brightness thus calibrated also shows good consistency with the eclipse, particularly between the second and the third contacts. The minimal sky brightness in each local sky region took place within half a minute from the corresponding predicted contact time. Such small time delays were mainly caused by occasional cirri. The minimal sky brightness measured during the eclipse is a few millionths of I ?? with standard deviation of 0.11 millionths of I ??. The observation supports that the single-scattering process (optically thin conditions) is the main contributor to the atmospheric scattering. We have demonstrated that many important aerosol optical parameters can be deduced from our data. We conclude that the new SBM is a sensitive sky photometer that can be used for our CGST and coronagraph site surveys.  相似文献

We analyze empirical relationships between optical, near infrared, and HI characteristics of isolated galaxies from the 2MIG Catalog covering the entire sky. Data on morphological types, K S , and B-magnitudes, linear diameters, HI masses, and rotational velocities are examined. The regression parameters, dispersions, and correlation coefficients are calculated for pairs of these characteristics. The resulting relationships can be used to test the hierarchical theory of galaxy formation through numerous mergers of cold dark matter.  相似文献

Airborne eclipse observations of the [Six] 1430.5 nm coronal emission line are reviewed, and new ground-based out-of-eclipse coronagraph observations obtained at NSO/Sacramento Peak are reported. We find that the [Six] 1430.5 nm coronal emission line brightness is less than 8 × 10−6 B⊙ in small active region corona which showed [Fexiii] 1074.7 nm emission (corrected for sky background) of about 20 × 10−6 B⊙. The optical identification programme is presented for a complete sample of 867 radio sources that were observed with the Very Large Array (VLA) within 4.22 deg2 to S 1.4 GHz ≥ 0.135 mJy (5 σ). The area covered by the VLA survey is part of the regions of the sky that have been surveyed in the mid and far Infrared over the wavelength range 6.7–175 μmwith ISO as part of the European Large Area ISO Survey (ELAIS). Optical identifications are made using the Automatic Plate-measuring Machine (APM) optical catalogue in E (∼ R) and O (∼ B) bands with approximate limiting magnitudes of ∼ 20.0 and 21.5 mag, respectively. For 220 out of the 867 radio sources, likely identifications are proposed with an a posteriori identification percentage of 25%. The sample of identification has a reliability of 96% and a completeness of 80%. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

New theoretical emission line ratios for the Be-sequence ions Mgix and Sixi are presented. A comparison with observational data for two solar flares and an active region loop obtained with the Harvard EUV spectrometer and NRL XUV spectroheliograph aboard Skylab reveals that these plasmas are in ionization equilibrium at coronal temperatures. Unfortunately most of the density diagnostics are not particularly useful under solar plasma conditions, as they vary only slightly over the electron density range 108–1013cm–3. However the Sixi ratioI(3 P e 2 -3 P o 2)/I(3 P o 11 S e 0) is density sensitive in the range 108 to 1010cm–3, which is representative of electron densities found in solar active regions or small flares.  相似文献

We have theoretically studied the influence of a far-infrared radiation (FIR) field from Hπ region on the cooling by C and O atoms, C+ ion and CO molecule in a photodissociation region, and a molecular cloud associated with Hπ region (hereinafter referred as HI region) at low temperatures (T k≤200 K). Comparisons have been made for cooling with and without FIR for two extreme abundances (10−4 and 10−7) of the mentioned species for temperatures ranging between 10 and 200K and an hydrogen particle density range 10 cm−3n o≤ 107 cm3. The cooling by the species with low line-splitting (CI, Cπ and CO) is significantly influenced by the radiation field for temperaturesT k < 100 K while the effect of radiation field on cooling by OI is significant even at higher temperatures (T k > 100 K). The effect of FIR field on the cooling of CO from low rotational transitions is negligibly small, whereas it is considerable for higher transitions. In general, the cooling terms related to the short-wavelength transitions are more affected by FIR than those related to longer wavelengths. It is also demonstrated here that in the determination of thermal structure of an HI region the dust grains play an important role in the heating of gas only through photoelectron emission following irradiation by far-ultraviolet (FUV) radiation, as the infrared radiation from the dust is too small to have substantial effect on the cooling. It is found that in the Hπ /HI interface the FIR field from grains in the Hπ region is not capable of modifying the temperature of the warmest regions but does so in the inner part where the temperature is low enough.  相似文献

The brightness distribution of diffuse soft X-rays in the pulse height range 0.15–0.3 keV (L-band) and 0.5–0.8 keV (M-band) are obtained over a quarter of the sky centered at the galactic anticenter with 1.5 m polypropylene window proportional counters on board a sounding rocket. In theL-band three enhanced regions are noticed on the map. They coincide with the northern and southern Hi holes and the inner part of the galactic radio Loop II.In the northern Hi hole theN H dependence of theL-band flux and the hardness ratioM/L can be fitted with a local hot plasma model with the absorption by a low velocity neutral hydrogen gas (|V|<25 km s–1) along the line of sight. The X-ray feature of Loop II is similar to that of Loop I. In the lowN H region (<3×1020 H atoms cm–2) theM/L value is lower than 0.3, whereas it varies in the range 0.1–0.4 at low latitudes (|b|<300). This fact seems to be interpreted in terms of a model that a number of hot plasma clouds contribute to X-ray emission.  相似文献

The diagramV - log(1 +z e ) as function of (, ) is considered for the quasars. HereV is the apparent visual magnitude,z e is the emission line redshift, and are the equatorial coordinates. Two opposite extreme spots NE and SE are observed on the sky, where the inclination of the straight line fitting the dependenceV - log(1 +z e ) is maximum and minimum. The coordinates of the centres of these extreme spots are ( NE, NE) = (282°, +42°) and ( SE, SE) = (70°, -38°) with errors 5°. A hypothesis of the Superattractor (SA) is proposed to explain such an effect. Two independent tests of this hypothesis are realized. First, the dependence or the frequency a of the absorbers in QSO spectra on (, ) is investigated. A region of the larger a is found. The coordinates of its centre are (, ) = (82°, - 10°) with error 5°. Second, the cases ofz a >z e are plotted in the Mercatorial projection (, ). The most of the casesz -z e > 0.02 are concentrated within the circle with radiusR = 34° and centre (, ) = (50°, - 15°). The both anomalous regions overlap the Southern extreme spot around SE. The SA direction is (, ) = (67°, -21°) with errors about 12°. The redshift of SA isz SA = 1.7 ± 0.3 that corresponds to the distancer SA = (3100 ± 300)h –1 Mpc for the Hubble constantH 0 = 75h kms–1 Mpc–1. The SA mass isM SA ~ 1018-1020 M . The orientation of the normal to the quasiperiodical large-scale sheet structure on the sky occurs near SA.  相似文献

This paper summarizes and analyzes the results of radio optical, infrared, and X-ray observations of a large sector of the sky in the constellation Cygnus (19h20m-22h, =30–50°;l II=65–90°, |b II|10°). This region is associated with an extended X-ray source referred to as the Cygnus superbubble. About a quarter of the superbubble region is occupied by the extensively investigated multicomponent thermal radio source Cyg X. The region contains eight OB-associations which, when projected on the sky, duplicate the outline of the X-ray superbubble. These associations contains 110 stars of high luminosity (about 40 Wolf-Rayet and Of stars). The observations suggest that the X-ray superbubble is not a single object. Between 50 and 75% of its X-ray emission can be ascribed to discrete sources, the rest being probably due to regions of coronal gas about 100 pc in diameter, created by stellar winds and, possibly, supernova explosions in individual associations. The objects that produce the X-ray and optical radiation of the presumed superbubble are located at distances from 0.5 to 2.5 kpc from the Sun in the Carina-Cygnus spiral arm. The eastern portion of the region presumed superbubble contains the associations Cyg OB7 and Cyg OB4 and is generally less than 1 kpc distant, while the western portion contains the associations Cyg OB1, 2, 3, 8, and 9 and is 1 to 2 kpc distant.  相似文献

The motion of small-scale structures is well resolved in high-resolution filament images that were observed on 19 June 1998 with the Swedish Vacuum Solar Telescope, La Palma. The filament was between 80 000 and 100 000 km high. The study is based on two hours of narrow-band observations at three wavelength positions in Hα. Velocities along the line of sight and in the transverse direction, respectively, V los and V tr, were measured for a large number of individual small-scale filament structures. Small features are all moving along nearly parallel threads, some in one direction along the threads and the remainder in the other direction, a pattern of motion known as counterstreaming. The net flow velocities in the two directions are about 8 km s−1 and both are tilted by an angle δ≃16° relative to the plane of the sky. This angle is less than expected, by factors between 2.0 and 2.5, relative to the local horizontal plane. We believe that V los is underestimated by these factors due to a line-shift reducing effect by the underlying Hα absorption line of the chromosphere. Observations of solar X-ray line emission using crystal spectrometers during a large chromospheric flare have provided a list of wavelengths with a precision of 0.003 Å in first order of diffraction and correspondingly better in higher orders. In addition to the resonance, intersystem (1 1 S 0-2 3 P 1) and forbidden (1 1 S 0-2 3 S 1) transitions of ions of the Hei isoelectronic sequence, we have recorded satellite lines arising from ions in the Lii, Bei and Bi isoelectronic sequences. These satellite features are most prominent in the iron spectrum. Apparent decreases in the ratio of forbidden and intersystem line intensities of Mgxi and Sixiii during the flare are used to derive electron densities possibly as high as 1 × 1013 cm–3 in the Mgxi emitting region and 1 × 1014 cm–3 in the Sixiii region during the event. A search for satellite lines on the long-wavelength side of the Lyman-alpha line of Hi-like ions has yielded no positive identifications.  相似文献

The focussing of gravitational radiation by the interior and exterior gravitational field of a Newtonian gravitational lens is considered. A graphical method for determining the caustic structure of a Newtonian gravitational lens is presented and the caustic structure of a solar type gravitational lens is discussed. Estimates of the amplitude magnification in the caustic region indicate that waves with frequencies less than a critical cutoff frequency ω c are not amplified significantly. For a lens of massM this cutoff frequency is ω c ≈(10-1πM)-1; for the Sun ω c ≈104s-1. Work supported in part by National Science Foundation Grant PHY78-05368.  相似文献

We have collected the observational data accumulated before the Swift experiment to check the possible connection of short gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) with low-redshift galaxies. The BATSE/IPN experimental data on well-localized short GRBs and the SDSS DR5 and PSCz catalogs of galaxies are used. The PSCz sky coverage has allowed us to search for host galaxies for a sample of 34 short GRBs. One or more galaxies have been found in the error boxes of six bursts, but the probability of a chance coincidence for each of them is high. No excess of nearby galaxies in the total sample has been detected. The 90% confidence limit corresponds to the fact that no more than 7%of the short GRBs could originate in nearby galaxies of the PSCz sample. The estimated upper limit of several percent may be considered to be valid in the volume z = 0.015–0.025. Based on the results of our search, we have estimated the lower limits for the isotropic energies E γiso of 31 short bursts from our sample. Their values lie within the range 1.0 × 1047–2.7 × 1049 erg. The possible fraction of the flares from magnetars in our sample of short GRBs is discussed. The SDSS sky coverage is currently insufficient to perform a similar analysis.  相似文献

Finding charts and photoelectric magnitudes of stars in the UBVR system in 26 fields of the MEGA programme are presented. This part of the photometric survey near the Main Galactic Meridian includes the fields with right ascentions 8h < α < 16h30m and declinations −2° < δ < 58°. Together with the finding charts of 2.5° × 2.5° the equatorial coordinates of the stars are given for epoch and equinox 1950. Photometric properties of the night sky at the Mount Terskol observatory near Mount Elbrus are derived from the photoelectric observations.  相似文献

We search for isolated galaxies based on the automatic identification of isolated sources from the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) followed by a visual inspection of their surroundings. We use the modified Karachentseva criterion to compile a catalog of 3227 isolated galaxies (2MIG), which contains 6% of 2MASS Extended Sources Catalog (or 2MASX) sources brighter than K s = 12 m with angular diameters a K ≥ 30″. The catalog covers the entire sky and has an effective depth of z ∼ 0.02. The 2493 very isolated objects of the catalog, which we include into the 2MVIG catalog, can be used as a reference sample to investigate the effects of the environment on the structure and evolution of galaxies located in regions with extremely low density of matter.  相似文献

Using a simplified model the statistical equilibrium and radiative transfer equations of E-type-CH3OH are solved for Orion KL and SgrB2. According to our calculation results and the observation data taken by Matsakiset al. (1980) and Morimotoet al. (1985a, b), the physical conditions of both sources are estimated. In theJ 2-J 1 E methanol maser region of Orion KL, the density, kinetic temperature, dust temperature, and the fractional abundance are 0.8–2×106 cm–3, 150, 30–90 K, 0.8–8×10–6. In the 4–1-30 E and 5–1-40 E methanol maser region of Sgr B2 the correspondance physical conditions above are 104 cm3, 45, 23 K, and 7×10–7, respectively.  相似文献

High‐resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) imaging by desorption electrospray ionization (DESI) coupled with Orbitrap MS using methanol (MeOH) spray was performed on a fragment of the Murchison (CM2) meteorite in this study. Homologues of CnH2n–1N2+ (= 7–9) and CnH2nNO+ (= 9–14) were detected on the sample surface by the imaging. A high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)/HRMS analysis of MeOH extracts from the sample surface after DESI/HRMS imaging indicated that the CnH2n–1N2+ homologues corresponds to alkylimidazole, and that a few isomers of the CnH2nNO+ homologues present in the sample. The alkylimidazoles and CnH2nNO+ homologues displayed different spatial distributions on the surface of the Murchison fragment, indicating chromatographic separation effects during aqueous alteration. Moreover, the distribution pattern of compounds is also different among homologues. This is probably also resulting from the separation of isomers by similar chromatographic effects, or different synthetic pathways. Alkylimidazoles and the CnH2nNO+ homologues are mainly distributed in the matrix region of the Murchison by mineralogical observations, which is consistent with previous reports. Altered minerals (e.g., Fe‐oxide, Fe‐sulfide, and carbonates) occurred in this region. However, no clear relationship was found between these minerals and the organic compounds detected by DESI/HRMS imaging. Although this result might be due to scale differences between the spatial resolution of DESI/HRMS imaging and the grain size in the matrix of the Murchison, our results would indicate that alkylimidazoles and the CnH2nNO+ homologues in the Murchison fragment were mainly synthesized by different processes from hydrothermal alteration on the parent body.  相似文献

A statistical study of the dependence of the star formation rate in the nuclear regions of 39 Kazarian galaxies on the integral parameters of these galaxies is carried out on the basis of spectra from SDSS DR6. The value of SFR/kpc2 for our sample lies in the range 0.013÷2.04M year−1kpc−2 (with the maximum value of 2.04 corresponding to the Kaz 98 (merger)). It is found that the surface density of the rate of star formation correlates positively with the bar structure parameter and EW(Hα), and that, for spiral galaxies of early morphological types, SFR/kpc2 is greater than for the later types. It is shown that the color B-R for the galaxies and the color (ug) nucl for the nuclear region correlate positively with the total absorption A(Hα) in the Ha line for the nuclear region. The average value of A(Hα) for our samples is found to be A(Hα)=1.3±0.09 magnitudes. Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 52, No. 2, pp. 211–224 (May 2009).  相似文献
