UBV photometry and lightcurves of Eros were obtained on nine dates between October 1974 and March 1975. The absolute V magnitude at photometric maximum extrapolated to a solar phase angle of zero is 10.75 while the linear phase coefficient is 0.026mag deg?1. The mean colors at solar phase angles greater than 30° are B?V = 0.92 and U?B = 0.52mag. No significant color variations over the surface were detected.  相似文献

The asteroid 133 Cyrene was observed photometrically on 17 nights during oppositions in 1979 and 1980. The synodic period of rotation was found to be 12.h708 ± 0.h001 with an amplitude of ~0.m30 during both oppositions. At large phase angles, the phase relation is quite ordinary (βv ≈ 0.025 mag/degree); however, the low phase angle observations reveal a dramatic opposition brightening, ~0.2 mag/degree near zero phase angle. The absolute magnitude, V(1,0), extrapolated with the above linear phase coefficient, is 8.40. The following color indicates were also measured: B- V = 0.90, U-B = 0.51.  相似文献

Ten lightcurves and UBV photometry of 433 Eros were obtained between August 1972 and May 1975. The absolute magnitude of the lightcurve maximum is 10.75 and the phase coefficient is 0.025 mag/deg. There may be a small difference in B-V color between the northern and southern hemispheres. The pole of the axis of rotation is directed toward λ0 = 16°, β0 = 12°, ecliptic longitude and latitude, respectively, and the rotation is direct with a sidereal period of 0.d219599 or 5h16m13s4 ± 0.s2. The dimensions derived from the polarimetric albedo and the lightcurve amplitudes are 12km × 12km × 31km for a smooth cylinder with hemispherical ends.  相似文献

A worldwide photometric investigation of the asteroid 324 Bamberga was conducted during the period September–November 1978. The full-cycle lightcurve shows two maxima and two minima with a maximum amplitude of 0.075 mag; the rotation period was found to be Psyn = 29.h42 ± 0.h01. A linear least-squares solution of the phase relation gives βy = (0.334 ± 0.001) mag/degree and V0 (1, 0) = (7.17 ± 0.01) mag. The color indices measured are B-V = 0.69, U-B=0.36, in agreement with the C taxonomic type given for 324 Bamberga. The very long period indicates 324 Bamberga is an unusual object among asteroids with diameters greater than 200 km.  相似文献

Five-color photoelectric lightcurves of asteroid 433 Eros were obtained on 9 nights during the 1974/75 apparition. Although color differences due to changing solar phase angle were detected, color differences during a single rotation of Eros are less than 1%. Amplitudes of up to 1m.44 were measured, and there are indications that three reversals in the relative depths of the two minima occured between late December 1974 and late January 1975. The absolute visual magnitude at primary maximum, corrected to zero phase and to one AU from Earth and Sun, is about V0(1,0) = 10m.8.  相似文献

Fourteen photometric lightcurves of 433 Eros were made at the Astronomical Observatory of Torino during the 1974–75 close passage. The absolute magnitude of the primary maximum (10m78), the phase coefficient (0.023 mag/degree), the synodic and sidereal period of rotation (0d.21956 and 0d.21959, respectively) and the ecliptic coordinates of the pole (λ = 17°, β = 10°) were deduced.  相似文献

We present 26 lightcurves of 16 Psyche from 1975 and 1976. The synodic period during this apparition was 4h.1958. Combining photometric data from this opposition with those from previous apparitions allowed us to derive a mean phase coefficient in V of 0.026 ± 0.002 mag/deg and to establish that Psyche's absolute V0 magnitude and rotational amplitude vary with aspect; at 90° aspect, V0(1, 0) = 6.27 ± 0.05 and the lightcurve amplitude is 0.30 mag, while at 0° or 180° aspect, V0(1, 0) = 6.02 ± 0.02 and the amplitude is ?0.03 mag. This behavior is accounted for if, to first order, Psyche's shape is that of a triaxial ellipsoid with axial ratios near 5:4:3. Colors at zero phase are U-B = 0.26 ± 0.01 and B-V = 0.71 ± 0.01. Color phase coefficients are <0.001 mag/deg in U-B and 0.0010 ± 0.0004 mag/deg in B-V.  相似文献

By means of new photoelectric observations made in 1974 an attempt to determine the poles of asteroids 9 and 44 was made. Following a method based upon the magnitude-aspect and amplitude-aspect relations, the coordinates of the poles for 9 and 44 were found to be, respectively, λ0 = 191° ± 5°, β0 = 56° ± 6° and λ0 = 100° ± 10°, β0 = 50° ± 10°. The previously published pole for asteroid 22, λ0 = 215° ± 10°, β0 = 45° ± 15°, was confirmed. From its phase relation we determined the phase coefficient of 44 Nysa, a very high albedo object (pv = 0.377). The very low phase coefficient obtained (βv = 0.018 mag/deg) agrees very well with an inverse relation between geometrical albedo and phase coefficient. The results are summarized in a table.  相似文献

Radiometry of Eros at 10 and 20 μm demonstrates that the thermal conductivity of the upper centimeter of the surface is approximately as low as that of the Moon, suggesting that the asteroid has a regolith of highly porous rocky material. When combined with photoelectric photometry, these infrared measurements yield an effective diameter of Eros at maximum light of D0 = 22 ± 2 km and a geometric albedo of pv = 0.18 ± 0.03.  相似文献

The asteroid 85 Io has been observed using CCD and photoelectric photometry on 18 nights during its 1995–96 and 1997 apparitions. We present the observed lightcurves, determined colour indices and modelling of the asteroid spin vector and shape. The colour indices (U-B = 0.35±0.02, B-V = 0.66±0.02, V-R = 0.34±0.02, R-I = 0.36±0.02) are as expected for a C-type asteroid. The allowed spin vector solutions have the pole co-ordinates λ0 = 285±4°, β0 = −52±9° or λ0 = 108±10°, β0 = −46±10° and λ0 = 290±10°, β0 = −16±10° with a retrograde sense of rotation and a sidereal period Psid = 0d.286463±0d.000001. During the 1995–96 apparition the International Occultation Time Association (IOTA) observed an occultation event by 85 Io. The observations and modelling presented here were analysed together with the occultation data to develop improved constraints on the size of the asteroid. The derived value of 164 km is about 5% larger than the IRAS diameter. © 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.  相似文献

Results of UBV photometry and polarimetry of 1580 Betulia during its 1976 apparition are presented. The synodic period of rotation is found to be 6.130 hr. The linear phase coefficient and absolute magnitude of the primary maximum in V are 0.032 mag/deg and 14.88, respectively. No color variations with rotation or solar phase angle detected, the mean colors being B?V = 0.66 and U?B = 0.24. Betulia's lightcurve is unique among asteroids studied to date in that it displays three maxima and three minima within one rotational cycle, indicative of a region of greater roughness and/or a dark spot on one of its broad faces. Polarization results indicate a low albedo and a mean diameter of about 7 km, establishing Betulia as the first C type asteroid to be found among the Mars crossers. A model accounting for most features of Betulia's lightcurve is given by a prolate spheroid rotating about one of its shorter axes having an axis ratio of 1:1.21 with a major topographic feature on one of its broad faces.  相似文献

Photoelectric lightcurves of the asteroid 1862 Apollo were obtained in November–December 1980 and in April–May 1982. The period of rotation is unambiguously determined to be 3.0655 ± 0.0008 hr. The 1980 observations span a range of solar phase angle from 30° to 90°, and the 1982 observations, 0.°2 to 90°. The Lumme-Bowell-Harris phase relation can be fit to the absolute magnitudes at maximum light with an RMS scatter of 0.06 magnitude over the entire range of phase angle. The constants of the solution are absolute V magnitude at zero phase angle and at maximum light, 16.23 ± 0.02; slope parameter, 0.23 ± 0.01. These constant corresponds to values in the linear phase coefficient system of V(1, 0) = 16.50 ± 0.02 and a phase coefficient of βv = 0.0305 ± 0.0012 mag/degree in the phase range 10°–20°. The slope of the phase curve is typical for a moderate albedo asteroid. The absolute magnitudes observed in 1980 and 1982 fall along a common phase curve. That is, Apollo was not intrinsically brighter at one apparition than the other. This is not surprising, since the two apparitions were almost exactly opposite one another in the sky. A pole position was calculated from the observed deviation of the lightcurve from constant periodicity (synodic-sidereal difference) during both apparitions. The computed 1950 ecliptic coordinates of the pole are: longitude = 56°, latitude = −26°. This is the “north” pole with respect to right-handed (counter-clockwise) rotation. The formal uncertainty of the solution for the pole position is less than 10°, but realistically may be several times that, or even completely wrong. The sidereal period of rotation asscociated with this pole solution is 3.065436 ± 0.000012 hr.  相似文献

We present physical measurements of the newly discovered asteroid, (5145) Pholus, based on seven nights of photometric observations. These observations determine an unambiguous lightcurve period of 9.9825 ± 0.0040 hr with a peak-to-peak amplitude of 0.15 mag. We also report a rotationally independent color of (VR) = 0.810 ± 0.006 (Kron-Cousins R). The standard IAU two parameter fit versus solar phase angle yields HV = 7.645 ± 0.011 and GV = 0.16 ± 0.08. Except for its color and orbit, (5145) Pholus exhibits normal asteroidal properties.  相似文献

The 39 Laetitia asteroid was observed by the digital television complex at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in 2000 in three spectral bands close to B, V and R simultaneously. An analysis of the variations in the absolute magnitude shows that there is a known period of rotation P = 0.d214093. In variations of color indices B-V and V-R, this period is absent. Frequency analysis of color indices B-V and V-R makes it possible to reveal the true periods of rotation for components as follows: P 1 = 0.d237 and P 2 = 0.d177. The theoretical and observed period of librations agrees in value. Based on the two detected periods of rotation for asteroid components according to color indices B-V and V-R, a period of the libration of the satellite according to integral magnitude, we conclude that this asteroid is a binary one.  相似文献

Voyager imaging observations provide new photometric data on Saturn's satellites at large phase angles (up to 133° in the case of Mimas) not observable from Earth. Significant new results include the determination of phase integrals ranging from 0.7 in the case of Rhea to 0.9 for Enceladus. For Enceladus we find an average geometric albedo pv = 1.04 ± 0.15 and Bond albedo of 0.9 ± 0.1. The data indicate an orbital lightcurve with an amplitude of 0.2 mag, the trailing side being the brighter. For Mimas, the lightcurve amplitude is probably less than 0.1 mag. The value of the geometric albedo of Mimas reported here, pv = 0.77 ± 0.15 (corresponding to a mean opposition magnitude V0 = +12.5) is definitely higher than the currently accepted value of about 0.5. For Dione, the Voyager data show a well-defined orbital lightcurve of amplitude about 0.6 mag, with the leading hemisphere brighter than the trailing one.  相似文献

We have used the integrated brightnesses from Mariner 9 high-resolution images to determine the large phase angle (20° to 80°) phase curves of Phobos and Deimos. The derived phase coefficients are β = 0.032 ± 0.001 mag/deg for Phobos and β = 0.030 ± 0.001 mag/deg for Deimos, while the corresponding phase integrals are qPhobos = 0.52 and qDeimos = 0.57. The predicted intrinsic phase coefficients of the surface material are βi = 0.019 mag/deg and βi = 0.017 mag/deg for Phobos and Deimos, respectively. The phase curves, phase coefficients and phase integrals are typical of objects whose surface layers are dark and intricate in texture, and are consistent with the presence of a regolith on both satellites. The relative reflectance of Deimos to Phobos is 1.15±0.10. The presence of several bright patches on Deimos could account for this slight difference in average reflectance.  相似文献

Analytic expressions for the semimajor and semiminor axes and an orientation angle of the ellipse projected by a triaxial ellipsoid (an asteroid) and of the ellipse segment cast by a terminator across the ellipsoid as functions of the dimensions and pole of the body and the asterocenteric position of the Earth and Sun are derived. Applying these formulae to observations of the Earth-approaching asteroid 433 Eros obtained with the speckle interferometry system of Steward Observatory on December 17–18, 1981, and January 17–18, 1982, the following dimensions are derived: (40.5 ± 3.1 km) × (14.5 ± 2.3 km) × (14.1 ± 2.4 km) Eros' north pole is found to lie within 14° of RA = 0h16m Dec. = +43° (ecliptic longitude 23°, latitude +37°). Other than knowing the rotation period of Eros, these results are completely independent of any other data, and in the main confirm the results obtained in the 1974–1975 apparition by other methods. These dimensions, together with a lightcurve from December 18, 1981, lead to a geometric albedo of 0.156 ± 0.010. A series of two-dimensional power spectra and autocorrelation functions of the resolved asteroid clearly show it spinning in space.  相似文献

The first photometric observations of the near-Earth asteroid 1998 ST49 and the main belt asteroids (13154) and (27529) are reported. The synodic rotation periods and amplitudes of the lightcurves are:
  • ? 2.3017 h, 0.11 mag for 1998 ST49;
  • ? 2.98502 h, 0.18 mag for (13154);
  • ? 4.1290 h, 0.51 mag for (27529).
  • The periods for the first two asteroids are unambiguous, while the period of 4.1570 h is not ruled out for the third asteroid. Despite fast rotations, none of the presented asteroids exhibited any sign of binarity. Lightcurves were obtained at Modra Observatory.  相似文献

    The results of the first polarimetric measurements of near-Earth asteroid 2014 JO25 and comet 41P/Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresák performed on April 19, 2017, with a CCD sensor at the prime focus (f/3.85) of the 2.6-m Shajn Telescope of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in the R filter are reported. The degree of linear polarization of the asteroid is P = 2.69 ± 0.44% at a phase angle of 55.6°, which is typical of an S-type asteroid. Its geometric albedo is ρv ≈ 0.2. A digital filter applied to the direct image of the comet reveals a jet and a tail directed toward the Sun (PA = 45.1°) and away from it (PA = 241.2°), respectively, in the coma. The maximum degree of linear polarization in the near-nucleus region of the comet is 18% at a phase angle of 69.8°. The polarization decreases to 16.2–10.7% in coma regions with a radius of 865–4856 km. Various factors affecting the maximum degree of polarization and the polarization-degree distribution over the coma are discussed.

    The results of photometric astrometry, a method of determining the orientation of a rotation axis, as applied to asteroid 44 Nysa are presented. The pole orientation of Nysa was found to be λ0 = 100°, β0 = +60° with an uncertainty of 10°. The sidereal period is 0d.26755902 ± 0.00000006, and the rotation prograde. Refinements to, and limitations of, the application of the method of photometric astrometry are discussed. In light of the results presented herein, we believe that all photometric astrometry pole determinations of the past should be redone.  相似文献
