Spectroscopic measurements of the Ap star HD 9996 yielded the radial velocity and the strength of the effective magnetic field. From the reversal of the magnetic field periods smaller than 4.92 years can be excluded. We cannot state an exact period, but a value of 20.60 years seems to be the most probable one. Further we find hints at a short period of about 1.8 days for the variations in the radial velocities as well as in the magnetic field strengths. The elements of the binary motion were derived.  相似文献

An abundance analysis using photographic region spectrograms and fully line-blanketed model atmospheres has been performed for the chemically peculiar (CP) star HD 26385. Model parameters were determined from H-profile and photometric data. Its pattern of abundance shows that HD 26385 is typically Ap Si-star.  相似文献

We present new high-speed, multisite photometric observations of the rapidly oscillating Ap star HD 119027 acquired over seven nights during 1996. A frequency analysis of these observations reveals the presence of oscillations at 1835, 1875, 1888, 1913, 1940, 1942 and (possibly) 1953 μHz. These frequencies are consistent with a spacing of either 13 or 26 μHz, depending on the reality of the oscillations at 1875 and 1953 μHz. The data in hand do not permit us to discriminate between the two possible spacings. If the smaller value of the spacing is correct, it suggests that HD 119027 is outside the main-sequence band. Two of the frequencies listed above are separated by only 1.95 μHz, suggesting that they are modes of ( n ,ℓ) and ( n  − 1, ℓ + 2), which in roAp stars is a quantity governed by the internal magnetic field.  相似文献

We present the results of our study of the atmospheric chemical composition and evolutionary status for the chemically peculiar Ap star HD 138633. In contrast to ordinary Ap stars that exhibit strong lines of rare-earth elements in their spectra, these elements are represented very poorly in the spectrum of HD 138633. The magnetic field is estimated to be less than 700 G, which is also atypical of peculiar Ap stars. We have detected a stratification of such elements as Fe, Si, Ca, and Y in the atmosphere of HD 138633 whose pattern agrees qualitatively with the predictions of the theory of diffusive separation of elements under the joint action of gravity and radiation pressure forces. The nonuniform distribution obtained by assuming a stepwise distribution of elements in depth agrees qualitatively with the stratification distribution for β CrB. The search for pulsations points to the possible existence of lowamplitude pulsations with a period of about 17 min.  相似文献

The radial velocity, intensity variations of the Caii line and chemical composition of the suspected magnetic star HD 151 199 have been studied using three 9.6 A/mm and twenty-one 40 A/mm dispersion spectrograms which were taken at St. Michel and Asiago Observatories respectively. The radial velocity and the intensity of the Caii K line suggest a variation with a 6.143 day period. The range is about 40 km/sec for the radial velocity and the K line changes in intensity by 50%. Preliminary results of the photometric data in the Geneva system show a similar trend of variation in (B 2B 1) with the same period. H and H contours and the Balmer discontinuity give eff=0.50 and logg=4. The most probable microturbulence is found to be 6.4 km/sec. The excitation temperature, exc=0.50, is derived from the Fe lines and adopted for the other elements as well. A quantitative analysis by curve of growth and weighting function method, using Mihalas and Conti's atmospherical models was made. HD 151 199 shows an overabundance of Ca, Sr, Ba, by factors of 2, 40, and 5 with respect to 30 L Mi. Euii is probably overabundant also but it is not possible to give this element a numerical value. Photometric observations of the Ap star HD 193722 give unambiguous proofs for a rotational period of P=8.5297 days in contradiction to the earlier found value of P=1.13316 days. Spectroscopic measurements yield a line width equivalent to the value v sin i=44.5 km/s. Both findings show convincingly that HD 193722 is an evolved Ap star with a position in the giant region of the HR diagram. This place falls into a domain occupied by the hypothetic Maia sequence.  相似文献

We present the results of our abundance analysis for the atmosphere of the chemically peculiar Ap star HD 8441. HD 8441 is interesting in that the lines of rare-earth elements in its spectrum are weak and the longitudinal magnetic field component is small, being only several hundred gauss. Our estimates of the evolutionary status for HD 8441 have confirmed that it belongs to the group of Ap stars with weak lines of rare-earth elements in their spectra that leave the main sequence. A stratification analysis of the atmosphere of HD 8441 assuming a stepwise distribution of elements with depth reveals a nonuniform distribution of Si, Ca, Cr,Mn, and Fe with a significant increase in elemental abundances in deeper layers. The derived distribution qualitatively agrees with predictions of the theory of diffusive separation of elements under the action of radiation pressure forces and gravity. Comparison of the chemical composition and evolutionary status of HD 8441 with those of the stars HD 66318 and HD 144897 with strong magnetic fields shows that their atmospheres differ mainly by the abundances of rare-earth elements. The iron-peak elements exhibit large overabundances irrespective of the magnetic field strength.  相似文献

We undertook a time-series photometric multisite campaign for the rapidly oscillating Ap (roAp) star HD 99563 and also acquired mean light observations over four seasons. The pulsations of the star, which show flatter light maxima than minima, can be described with a frequency quintuplet centred on 1557.653 μHz and some first harmonics of it. The amplitude of the pulsation is modulated with the rotation period of the star that we determine with 2.91179 ± 0.00007 d from the analysis of the stellar pulsation spectrum and of the mean light data. We break up the distorted oscillation mode into its pure spherical harmonic components and find it is dominated by the ℓ= 1 pulsation, and also has a notable ℓ= 3 contribution, with weak ℓ= 0 and 2 components. The geometrical configuration of the star allows us to see both pulsation poles for about the same amount of time; HD 99563 is only the fourth roAp star for which both pulsation poles are seen and only the third where the distortion of the pulsation modes has been modelled. We point out that HD 99563 is very similar to the well-studied roAp star HR 3831. Finally, we note that the visual companion of HD 99563 is located in the δ Scuti instability strip and may thus show pulsation. We show that if the companion was physical, the roAp star would be a 2.03-M, object, seen at a rotational inclination of 44°, which then predicts a magnetic obliquity     .  相似文献

HD 147010, which is in the reflection nebula vd B 102, has been found to be a hot Ap silicon star rather than a normal A supergiant. From theUBV and JHK photometry of the star, colour excessE(B - V) of 0.29 and the ratio of total-to-selective absorptionR of 4.3 have been obtained. The high value ofR implies bigger grain size and also confirms the association of the star with the nebula. The dereddened colours of the star can be fitted to a theoretical energy distribution with Teff = 13000 ± 500 K and logg = 3.6 ± 0.2. HD 147010 has also been found to be a spectrum variable; in particular, lines of Cr II show large intensity variations.  相似文献

We undertook two time-series photometric multisite campaigns for the rapidly oscillating Ap star HD 122970. The first one, conducted in 1998, resulted in 119 h of data and in the detection of three pulsation frequencies. The presence of possible further modes which held the promise of deriving a mode identification motivated a second worldwide campaign in the year 2001. This second campaign resulted in 203 h of measurement, but did not reveal further modes. Rather, one of the previously detected signals disappeared. The two modes common to both data sets have different spherical degree. They also showed slight frequency modulation, and one of them varied in amplitude as well. Possible causes of the latter behaviour include intrinsic instability of the pulsation spectrum or precession of the pulsational axis and orbital motion in a binary system. Frequency analysis of the Hipparcos observations of the star did not allow us to determine the stellar rotation period. The amplitude and phase behaviour of the two modes of HD 122970 in the Strömgren uvby bands is quite similar to that observed for other roAp stars.  相似文献

Based on observations with the 6-m SAO RAS telescope, we have found that chemically peculiar star with a large depression of the continuum at λ5200 Å and strengthened silicon lines in the spectrum has a strong magnetic field. The longitudinal field component Be has a negative polarity and varies from ?300 G to ?2000 G with a period of 1.756 days. Photometric variations of brightness take place with the same period. We determined the variability of the radial velocity at times of about tens of years pointing to a possible binarity of the object. We have built a magnetic model of this star, determined the inclination angles of the rotation axis to the line of sight i = 20° and of the dipole axis to the rotation axis β = 116°, and the field strength at the pole is Bp = 10 kG. We carried out a chemical composition analysis and found a lack of helium for almost an order of magnitude, some overabundance of silicon and metal elements for more than an order of magnitude, particularly, cobalt for three orders of magnitude.  相似文献

We investigate the variability of the magnetic field of a well-known Ap star 52 Her. The 15-year longmagnetic monitoring and analysis of the literature data demonstrates the lack of a long-period variability of the stellar magnetic field, and an absence of precession of the rotation axis of the binary’s main component. We refined the period of variability of the K Ca II line intensity, presumably being the rotation period of the main component. These measurements allowed to specify the parameters of the mean magnetic phase curve, obtained from the lines of metals, and to detect a significant difference from the phase curve, built from the hydrogen lines. Possible causes of the unusual variability of the stellar magnetic field are discussed.  相似文献

Some observational data of the sample of the magnetic chemically peculiar stars (MCP stars) are investigated statistically. For the MCP stars of spectral types later than A2 both the frequency distribution and the R ⋅ sin i-values suggest the existence of a linear relation between stellar diameter and rotation period. The MCP stars of spectral types earlier than B9 show an overpopulation of small R ⋅ sin i which may indicate the existence of a second group with smaller radius in this sample. The equatorially symmetric rotator is used as the magnetic model. With respect to its temporal behaviour the effective magnetic field is separated into dipolar and quadrupolar contribution. Both signs of the axisymmetric quadrupole moment appear with equal frequency. The dipole moment which produces the amplitude of the Beff(t) curve forms for longer periods two groups which are separated by a distinct gap. Both of the groups exhibit magnetic fields which are the stronger the greater the stellar radius is, contrary to what is expected for frozen-in fields. The dominance of magnetic curves without polarity reversal for longer-period stars is in accordance with predictions of the dynamo theory.  相似文献

All evidence of the solar origin of 160-min period oscillations is collected, and the present state of observations of this oscillation in optical and radio-ranges is considered. The radial velocities of the Ap star 53 Cam = HD 65339 show a longtime variation corresponding to a binary motion. For the elements of the binary system the following values were derived: K = 8km/s, γ = -2.2 km/s, P = 2380 days. e = 0.56, ω = 10°, and a · sin i = 22 · 107 km. A second period of about 1850 days is indicated but this value seems to be a spurious period. Investigations of ZEEMAN spectrograms made by several authors gave a magnetic period of a bout 8 days. This period, interpreted as rotational period of the star, obviously differs a little for various observational times depending on the position in the binary orbit; so that the period is smaller at the time of the apastron passage. At present it is not possible to decide wheter this behaviour – if real – preponderantly reflects changes of the velocity of rotation or of the magnetic field. Furthermore the radial velocities show a dependence on the state of ionization of the elements in such a way that evidently lines from neutral elements have larger radial velocities (absolute values) than those of the ionized elements. These differences also depend on the position in the binary orbit as mentioned for the magnetic periods.  相似文献

Long records of the wavelength oscillations of the solar 7699 Å potassium line have been obtained with an atomic-beam resonance-scattering apparatus taken to Kitt Peak. Data are presented giving the dependence of rms oscillation amplitude on the size of the area observed and power spectra of the oscillations are shown. The results are compared with recent work by others.
