Materials Wild algae was collected by divers from the Sanggou Bay, Rongcheng County. The mature fe-male gametophyte and tetrasporaphyte were selected as mother seaweed, washed with purified seawaterand prepared for spore collection.     

Study on ecology of foulers on buoys in Dianbai, Guangdong, China

From May to July, 1985, foulers on eleven navigation buoys have been surveyed in Shuidongand Bohe Harbours of Dianbai, Guangdong. Foulers on different parts of buoys (side, bottom and in-side tail tube) were sampled. The thickness and cover area of foulers were measured in the field andall the foulers on an area of 30×30 cm~2 were taken back for lab. identification. Thirty-four quatita-tive samples and several qualitative samples have been got and five hundred and twenty-four sampleshave been classified.

参考鳗鲡等鱼类线粒体DNA序列进行了中国花鲈线粒体DNA细胞色素b基因片断的引物设计、PCR扩增及其序列测定。得到中国花鲈的碱基序列为410bp，其A、T、G、C含量分别为101bp(24.63%)、112bp(27.32%)、72bp(17.56%)、125bp(30.49%)，与鳗鲡等其他鱼类相同基因片断序列碱基含量相似。

Features of Manifestation of the Chilean Tsunami on April 1, 2014, and September 16, 2015, on Russia’s Pacific Coast

As a result of mooring of autonomous seabed stations in bays of Shikotan Island, the records of two tsunamis were obtained from strong earthquakes that occurred off the coast of Chile on April 1, 2014, and September 16, 2015. In both cases, prolonged intense vibrations with a pronounced group structure were observed in various bays, mainly with periods of the main modes of resonance oscillations. The second event was more dangerous, and the wave height was 0.9 m at Malokurilskaya Bay. The increase in the energy of fluctuations in 2015 was more significant, manifesting itself in a wider range of periods. Numerical simulation of the tsunami showed that the nature of wave propagation in both earthquakes was identical in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, approaching Russia’s Pacific coast, and was characterized by weak damping, in contrast to waves propagating to the south and southwest. This explains why expect large waves can be expected on the coasts of the Kurils from earthquakes off the coast of South America, despite the considerable distance.

Reservoir quality is a critical risk factor in deep to ultradeep reservoirs at depths >4.5 km. Analysis of Paleogene Wilcox sandstones on the upper Texas Gulf Coast provides insight into the evolution of reservoir quality during shallow to ultradeep burial diagenesis. Reduction of porosity and permeability with burial in Wilcox sandstones was evaluated using subsurface samples from 200 to 6700 m, at temperatures of 25–230 °C. Diagenesis and petrophysical properties were interpreted from petrographic data and core analyses. Wilcox sandstones are mostly lithic arkoses and feldspathic litharenites having an average composition of Q₅₉F₂₂R₁₉. Provenance did not change significantly during Wilcox deposition in this area, nor does average sandstone composition vary among lower, middle, and upper Wilcox sandstones. However, composition does vary with sequence-stratigraphic position; lowstand slope-fan deposits contain more rock fragments than do deposits from highstand or transgressive systems tracts. Given observations from this onshore dataset, Wilcox sandstones deposited in deepwater environments in the Gulf of Mexico are likely to contain more rock fragments than their linked highstand equivalents.

Preliminary studies on the colonial form of Cylindrotheca sp. (Bacillariophyceae)

From a stock culture of Cylindrotheca sp., non-motile colony-forming cells were observed and isolated.Colony-forming cells produced both single cells and colony-forming cells in liquid media.the rate of single cell production varied among clones.The single cells derived from colony-forming cells were also isolated , which were able to produce both colony-forming cells and single cells in liquid media. The cells derived from colony-forming cells never moved on the agar surface.
