Photoelectric and photographic photometry of 72 stars was done in the field of the not-well-studied open cluster Czernik 20= OCl 427 in the direction of the Auriga constellation. Of these stars, a total of 43 have been found to be probable members down tom v− 15.75 mag. There is apparently a variable extinction across the field of the cluster withE(B-V) ranging from 0.53 to 0.38 mag. The cluster stars show a range in their ages from 1.0 × 107 to 7.1 × 107 years, indicating that Czernik 20 is young enough to be considered as a spiral-arm tracer in the study of our Galaxy. The distance of this cluster is found to be 4.27 ±0.14 kpc and it is located inside the outer Perseus arm of the Milky Way  相似文献

The computational algorithm to determine the the proper motions of Zirconium stars on the basis of catalogues “Carte du Ciel” and on the recent photographic observations carried out with the 70cm Abastumani meniscus telescope is presented. It allowed to determine the proper motions of 288 stars in the region around α Per with a rms error of ± 0,004 arcsec/yr. Applying the method proper motions of 74 Zirconium stars and 146 control stars have been obtained. The error of proper motions obtained for the North Zone (δ > −2°) 109 AGK3 control stars is ± 0.006 arcsec/yr. On the basis of proper motins absolute magnitudes were separately calculated for the MCLPZS and LASZS. For the MCLPZS the average absolute visual magnitude at maximum, corresponding to the mean period of P = 350 days, equals −3ϕm.9. For the LASZS the mean absolute visual magnitude, corresponding to the apparent median ones equals −1ϕm.9. Low luminosity (Mv = −1ϕmϕ9) Zirconium stars escape rather far (at a distance of up to 2 kpc) to the South from the Galactic plane into the region l ∼ 240 – 260°, where its assumed to be a connection with the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) begins to appear. Low luminosity Zirconium stars are weakly correlated with position of the Galaxy spiral arms. The MCLPZS show a somewhat other distribution.  相似文献

The complex lightcurves make (51) Nemausa a good case for the study of general methods for pole determination. From six lightcurves the pole is determined to 20h24m; +53° (1950); the rotation is retrograde with period 7h.782936 ± 0h.000005. Presence of nongeometric scattering is proved by a significant 0.008 mag amplitude. Formulae and photometric elements are given for predictions of the shapes of lightcurves in future oppositions. The precision of the Fourier coefficients may be reduced below the present ±0.003 mag level by avoiding the systematic errors in the observations due to phase factor variations and discontinuities when changing comparison stars.  相似文献

Continuing the study of faint young open clusters as tracers of spiral features in our Galaxy, photoelectric and photographic photometry of 39 stars was done in the field of the faint open cluster NGC 2236 ≡ OCl 501 in the direction of Monoceros constellation. Out of these stars, a total of 22 down tom v ≃ 15.4 mag have been found to be probable members. There is apparently a variable extinction across the field of the cluster with E(B - V) ranging between 0.84 mag and 0.68 mag. The median age of this cluster is estimated to be 7.6 × 107 years and the cluster is thereby considered as belonging to the marginally old category. Thus, it cannot be specifically used as a spiral arm tracer in the study of our Galaxy. This cluster is located at a distance of 3.72 ± 0.13 kpc, which places it at the inner edge of the outer Perseus spiral feature of the Milky Way.  相似文献

The results of modified objective grating observations and photoelectric as well as photographic photometry of the open cluster NGC 2374 are presented. The cluster contains at least twenty stars as definite members down tom v ≈ 15mag. There is a uniform extinction ofE(B - V) = 0.175 mag and the distance is 1.2 ± 0.1 kpc. The most likely age of this cluster is 7.5 ×107 years.  相似文献

Precise pointing and stabilization of the T-170M telescope (World Space Observatory Ultraviolet, WSO-UV project) is provided by the Fine Guidance System (FGS) that uses a guide star catalogue (Master Catalogue). To verify the photometric system of the Master Catalogue we have carried out ground based observations with a CCD-camera in a spectral band, close to that of FGS. We have found, that the photometric quality of the Master Catalogue is sufficient for FGS operations. The mean photometric error in the range of 14–17 mag is ±0.23 mag; its variation over the sky does not exceed the factor of two. 2% of stars from the Master Catalogue have photometric errors higher than 2 mag. We have also found a correlation between large photometric errors and the Master Catalogue flags.  相似文献

We present B, V and R band CCD images of the dwarf galaxy LGS-3 (Pisces dwarf). About 180 stars and diffuse objects were found and processed in these frames. The colour-magnitude diagram shows a prominent red giant branch and a few blue stars only. Details of the morphological properties and colour-agnitude diagram indicate to an intermediate (between dIrr and dSph) type of LGS-3. We estimate the galaxy distance modulus to be about (m - M)0 = 23.9 ± 0.3 mag on the basis of the tip of the red giant branch. We measured the galaxy colour to be about B–V = 0.8 mag and the linear diameter 700 pc, which is the smallest one in the Local group.  相似文献

We present a first overview of variable stars in the Bochum Galactic Disk Survey (GDS) with emphasis on eclipsing binaries (EBs). This ongoing survey is performed by a robotic twin refractor at the Universitätssternwarte Bochum located near Cerro Armazones in Chile. It comprises a mosaic of 268 fields in a stripe of Δb = ±3° along the Galactic plane observed once per month simultaneously in the Sloan r and i filters with a detection limit of rs ∼ 16 mag and is ∼ 15 mag. The data from the first three years until the end of February 2014 yields a total of 41718 variable stars with variability amplitudes between 0.1–6 mag. A cross‐match with SIMBAD identified 11 465 of these variables unambiguously, while 2184 had multiple matches; most of the remaining stars could be matched with 2MASS objects. Among the SIMBAD‐listed objects with single matches, only 1982 turned out as known variables while a further 256 are suspected of variability. That leaves a total of 39480 potentially new variables. The group of known variables comprises 419 stars (21 %) that are classified as EBs while 443 (22%) are of other types; for the remaining 1120 catalogued variables (57 %) the type is unknown. Investigating variability as a function of spectral type, we find that SIMBAD provides spectral types for 2811 (25 %) of the identified stars. Spectral classes B (26 %), A (20 %), and M (25%) contain the most numerous variables, while all other classes contribute less than 10% each. More than half of the B (55 %) and A (56%) stars are designated as EBs, suggesting that hundreds of new B‐ and A‐type EBs may be contained in the GDS archive. In contrast, among the numerous M stars no EBs are known. (© 2015 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

New BVRI observations for 40 and spectrophotometric measurements for 3 F to G LMC supergiant candidates (and 3 galactic F to G supergiants) are presented. The errors of the BVRI data are 0.01 to 0.03 mag in most cases. The wavelength range of the spectra is 3400 to 6400 Å, their resolution 10 Å. The mean error of the fluxes is 0.03 mag. Spectral indices measuring the strengths of the Hβ, Hγ, Hδ, NaD and CaII H+K lines, the CHα0 and CNβ0 bands, of the Balmer jump and the slope of the continuum redwards are discussed as measures of effective temperature and luminosity on the basis of galactic stars with accurate MK types and parallaxes. The Hγ line and the continuum gradient are very good temperature criteria, the CHα0 band and especially the Balmer jump for luminosity. The luminosity classification given for F to G supergiant candidates in the LMC in the literature is often doubtful. 5 of the 3 stars observed spectrophotometrically turn out to be probably galactic foreground dwarfs on the basis both of the Balmer jump and the comparison of their flux distributions with synthetic ones based on the Kurucz model atmospheres. Surface gravities derived purely on the basis of flux distributions and such ones given by models of stellar evolution agree with each other for dwarfs and giants only. For supergiants the former are about 1.0 dex higher than the latter. As a consequence effective temperatures and metallicities given by these two methods deviate from each other for such stars, too. The intrinsic colours and temperatures of galactic and LMC supergiants do not differ. With absolute magnitudes up to -9.6 mag the upper luminosity limit in the LMC does not exceed that in the Galaxy, where Ia-0 supergiants have MV of up to -9.5 mag. The metallicities of the supergiants show a rather large scatter. Nevertheless the mean metallicities of 0.0 ± 0.09 dex for the Galaxy and -0.6 ± 0.10 dex for the LMC agree well with other observations.  相似文献

A catalogue of photoelectric stellar magnitudes and colours in the UBVR Johnson system in 47 sky areas with galaxies near the Main Galactic Meridian is presented. The catalogue includes 1141 stars within the V magnitude interval 4m.5–15m.5. The rms errors are ±0.014, ±0.026, ±0.012, ±0.016 mag for stellar magnitudes V and colours (U – B),(B – V),(V – R), respectively. The catalogue contains accurate equatorial coordinates (α, δ)1950.0, too.  相似文献

First measurements of the short time variations of Ap stars with the twin telescope show a nonlinear drift caused by a sensibility of the amplifier depending on temperature. Moreover we found a dependence of the impulse rate on the position of the star image in the diaphragm. Special test measurements with a simple incandescent lamp show that this telescope gives results with an accuracy of ± 0.002 mag after elimination of these effects.  相似文献

We present UBVRCIC magnitudes of 49 comparison stars in the fields of the Seyfert galaxies Mrk 335, Mrk 79, Mrk 279, Mrk 506, 3C 382, 3C 390.3, NGC 6814, Mrk 304, Ark 564, and NGC 7469 in order to facilitate the photometric monitoring of these objects; 36 of the stars have not been calibrated before. The comparison stars are situated in 5 × 5 arcmin fields centred on the Seyfert galaxies, their V band flux ranges from 11.7 to 18.2 mag with a median value of 16.3 mag, and their BV colour index ranges from 0.4 to 1.6 mag with a median value of 0.8 mag. The median errors of the calibrated UBVRCIC magnitudes are 0.08, 0.04, 0.03, 0.04, and 0.06 mag, respectively. Comparison stars were calibrated for the first time in three of the fields (Mrk 506, 3C 382, and Mrk 304). The comparison sequences in the other fields were improved in various aspects. Extra stars were calibrated in four fields (Mrk 335, Mrk 79, NGC 6814, and NGC 7469) – most of these stars are fainter and are situated closer to the Seyfert galaxies compared to the existing comparison stars. The passband coverage of the sequences in five fields (Mrk 335, Mrk 79, Mrk 279, NGC 6814, and Ark 564) was complemented with the U band. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We report on an ambitious multisite campaign aimed at detecting stellar variability, particularly solar-like oscillations, in the red giant stars in the open cluster M67 (NGC 2682). During the six-week observing run, which comprised 164 telescope nights, we used nine 0.6-m to 2.1-m class telescopes located around the world to obtain uninterrupted time series photometry. We outline here the data acquisition and reduction, with emphasis on the optimization of the signal-to-noise ratio of the low-amplitude (50–500 μmag) solar-like oscillations. This includes a new and efficient method for obtaining the linearity profile of the CCD response at ultrahigh precision (∼10 parts per million). The noise in the final time series is 0.50 mmag per minute integration for the best site, while the noise in the Fourier spectrum of all sites combined is 20 μmag. In addition to the red giant stars, this data set proves to be very valuable for studying high-amplitude variable stars such as eclipsing binaries, W UMa systems and δ Scuti stars.  相似文献

For at all 24 stars in the field of the heavity reddened open cluster NGC 1502 we obtained UBV and uvby photometry. 19 of these stars we classified definitely as members. From the photometric results we derived 1·1 × 107 years as the cluster age, 960 pc as its distance, and <E(B—V)> = 0·78 mag as mean reddening of the cluster. From the reddening of the foreground stars we evaluated that the intracluster reddening has to be smaller than 0·2 mag. The value of the colour excess ratio E(b—y)/E(B—V) = 0·770 leads us to the conclusion that in the spectra of the cluster stars a very broadband structure (VBS) with a central depth of about 0·04 mag is present.  相似文献

A new photometric and spectroscopic survey of the star formation region (SFR) CMa R1 is described. In a sample of 165 stars brighter than 13th mag, 88 stars were found to be probable members of the SFR. They are defined as early-type stars with E ( B − V )0.16 mag, which corresponds to a distance of about 1 kpc. 74 of the probable members are B stars. 19 stars are possibly associated with an IRAS point source. We derive a most probable distance of 1050±150 pc to the association. It appears that about 80 candidate members are pre-main-sequence stars with ages lower than 6 million years, while the main sequence extends over 6.0–7.6 mag, which is consistent with star formation starting about 8 million years ago and continuing until at least half a million years ago. Two bright B stars in the association (GU CMa and FZ CMa) seem to be much older and probably do not originate from the same star formation episode. The star formation efficiency appears to increase roughly monotonically with time up to half a million years ago. From our data, we conclude that only a minor fraction of the stars has been created through the scenario suggested by Herbst & Assousa, in which the members of CMa R1 form by compression of ambient material by a supernova shock wave. An extensive search for candidate members with H α emission did not reveal new Herbig Ae/Be candidates, so that the number of stars in this class seems to be limited to four: Z CMa, LkH α 218, LkH α 220 and possibly HD 53367.  相似文献

CCD photometry in Johnson UBV and Strömgren uvby systems and medium-resolution spectroscopy of the galactic open cluster NGC 7128 are presented. Spectral types of the brightest 12 stars in the cluster field were determined based on equivalent widths of the H α and the He  i 6678-Å line. The spectroscopic observations also revealed two obvious and one probable Be-type stars showing H α emission. The analysis of the photometric diagrams gave a colour excess of E ( B − V )=1.03±0.06 mag, a distance modulus DM =13.0±0.2 mag and an age above 10 Myr. Time-resolved photometric observations obtained on one night resulted in the detection of short time-scale light variations of seven new and three already known variable stars in the cluster field.  相似文献

We present a new flare star, which was discovered during our survey on a selected field at the edge of the Pleiades cluster. The field was observed in the period 2007–2010 with three different CCD‐cameras at the University Observatory Jena with telescopes from 25 to 90 cm. The flare duration is almost one hour with an amplitude in the R‐band of about 1.08 mag. The location of the flare star in a color‐magnitude diagram is consistent with age and distance of the Pleiades. In the optical PSF of the flare star there are two 2MASS objects (unresolved in most images in the optical Jena PSF), so it is not yet known which one of them is responsible for this flare. The BVRIJHK colors yield spectral types of M1 and M2 with extinction being Av = 0.231 ± 0.024 mag and Av = 0.266 ± 0.020 for those two stars, consistent with the Pleiades cluster (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Photoelectric and photographic photometry of twenty-nine stars was done in the field of the open cluster Collinder 97 ≡ OC1 506. Of these stars, a total of twenty-four have been found to be possible members. There is apparently no interstellar extinction in the direction of this cluster which is in the constellation of Monoceros: itsE(B-V) = 0.0 mag. This cluster is situated at a distance of 0.63 ± 0.01 kpc, which is well within the local arm of our Galaxy. The age of this cluster is in the range of 1 × 108 to 5.9 × l08 yr, which puts it in an older age group. Thus, it cannot be specifically considered as a spiral-arm tracer in the study of our Galaxy.  相似文献

We report lightcurves for five asteroids from the inner main belt—(1703) Barry, (2590) Mourão, (4022) Nonna, (5171) Augustesen, (23031) 1999 XX7—and for two near-Earth asteroids—(100004) 1983 VA, (144922) 2005 CK38—obtained at Modra Observatory as a part of binary asteroid photometric campaign. Estimated synodic rotational periods and amplitudes of their composite lightcurves were as follows: 107.1 ± 0.5 h, 0.5 mag for (1703) Barry; 15.59 ± 0.01 h, 0.49 mag for (2590) Mourão; 2.5877 ± 0.0005 h, 0.08 mag for (4022) Nonna; 474 ± 10 h, 0.8 mag for (5171) Augustesen; 3.075 ± 0.001 h, 0.43 mag for (23031) 1999 XX7; 3.1643 ± 0.0009 h, 0.11 mag for (100004) 1983 VA; 4.7894 ± 0.0005 h, 0.27 mag for (144922) 2005 CK38. The slow rotator (5171) Augustesen and possibly also (1703) Barry appear to be tumblers, though their precession periods can not be estimated from the available data.  相似文献

It is important to quantify the underestimation of rms photometric errors returned by the commonly used APPHOT algorithm in the IRAF software, in the context of differential photometry of point-like AGN, because of the crucial role it plays in evaluating their variability properties. Published values of the underestimation factor, η, using several different telescopes, lie in the range 1.3–1.75. The present study aims to revisit this question by employing an exceptionally large data set of 262 differential light curves (DLCs) derived from 262 pairs of non-varying stars monitored under our ARIES AGN monitoring program for characterizing the intra-night optical variability (INOV) of prominent AGN classes. The bulk of these data were taken with the 1-m Sampurnanad Telescope (ST). We find η?=?1.54±0.05 which is close to our recently reported value of η?=?1.5. Moreover, this consistency holds at least up to a brightness mismatch of 1.5 mag between the paired stars. From this we infer that a magnitude difference of at least up to 1.5 mag between a point-like AGN and comparison star(s) monitored simultaneously is within the same CCD chip acceptable, as it should not lead to spurious claims of INOV.  相似文献
